noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Tue, 21 Apr 2009 05:17:00 +0000

As you all know I was in Beirut, Lebanon this month on a missions trip. I will be posting those pictures as soon as I finish editting them. There are TONS to go through!!

In the mean time, here are some pictures from a shoot I had on Saturday. This is Clay's younger sister, Meredith. It was my first senior picture shoot so I was a bit nervous, but she was a great model. Enjoy and share your thoughts!! :)

Wedding Pics!

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Mon, 16 Mar 2009 21:27:00 +0000

Ok so I finally got done with wedding pictures from Indiana. Sorry for the delay but I've been pretty busy!! After I returned from the wedding I had the other photography things come up and then I got sick right before I was leaving town for my sister's. Anyway, everything is finally back to normal and running smooth. Here are some moments from the wedding:

Her dress

Her shoes

The groom awaiting his bride

The Ceremony

And finally.... The Happy Couple

As Promised....

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Mon, 02 Mar 2009 23:28:00 +0000

Well as promised here are some pictures of what I've been up to the last few weeks. First up is the trip to Indianapolis. My friend Kayla came with me which was so much fun! We went up a day early to do some sight seeing. It was pouring down snow and super cold!

The next day was the wedding! I haven't finished those pictures yet, but I will post some when I'm done. :)

This past Saturday a girl in my Mother's Day Out class had a birthday party and her mom asked me to take some pictures so they could enjoy the party. So here are a few from that as well.

She really enjoyed the cake!!

The party was at The Jump Zone! Kids where flying everywhere!!

Harper and her daddy :)

A couple days after the party I had the opportunity to photograph Mike and Angie's baby, Alexia. She wasn't so sure she liked the camera at first but she go the hang of it. She was a perfect little model...

All the modeling wore her out......

The proud daddy watching her sleep....

Upcoming Events!!

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Fri, 30 Jan 2009 05:58:00 +0000

Well life is beginning to pick up again after a much needed break! I think I am finally back into the swing of things, but it will be short lived. I know I'm not the greatest at keeping up with my posts, so here is what will be going on in the next few months. As January is drawing to a close I've been looking forward to February and my 21st birthday! I can't even believe it!

Apparently, February is a very popular month for birthdays. The month is kicked off with Caitlyn's on the 1st, followed by my friend Kayla's on the 4th, then mine on the 10th, Kylie's on the 12th, and finally my grandpa's on the 25th! In the mist of celebrations, will be the Super Bowl of course. Our house will be full of college students from church. Followed by the Nashville Conference on Church and Theology at church. I'm pretty excited about this conference. Our guest speaker is John MacArthur! I've heard him speak a few times at the Resolved Conference and he's a great speaker.

The last day of the conference, my mom leaves for a conference she is attending alone in Indiana. When she returns, the Knutson Klan will be here. This year is Angie and Jeremy's 10th anniversary for which they are going on a little vacation alone (well mostly) and leaving the 3 older kids with me for the week. I will have them till Friday, when my friend Kayla and I will head for Indiana. We will spend Saturday having fun and sightseeing together. We are super excited!! :) Then Sunday, I am shooting a wedding ALONE! Yes, alone. My first solo wedding. I'm really excited/terrified! Of all the things to go wrong on someone's wedding day you don't want it to be the pictures! So we will see how it goes. I'm just so grateful to have the opportunity to do this for them.

Luckily, the week following the wedding is just a normal week with all my child care jobs. Nothing too major going on. However, the next few months will be exciting as well. For the past few months Clay and I have been collecting any loose change and cash we make and putting in a jar (which recently graduated to a bucket). That stuff adds up quick! We have more than I thought we would. Anyway, because he will be leaving for 5 months to go to Naval boot camp and advanced training, I wanted to take a little vacation with him. So in March, over his spring break, we are driving to my sister's in Virginia for about 5 days. We will spend some time with Knutsons watching movies and eating cookies, I'm sure, and then we are all taking a day and going to Washington, D.C to tour the museums. We have all been there before of family trips, but I thought it would be really fun since Clay has never been. We will be going to most of the Smithsonians and then the Spy museum, which I'm not sure what all they have in there but it sounded like a lot of fun!!

So that is my big trip in March. However, in April we will be traveling even further from home! My parents and I will be participating in a missions trip to Beruit, Lebanon. They both went on last years trip and without much convincing I decided I wanted to share their excitement. I am really, really looking forward to this trip! I have never been out of the country, so I'm sure it will be a major culture shock as well as a much needed learning experience. I have already been amazed at the generosity of those giving towards our trip and I'm anxious to see how God will use us in this foreign land.

So as you can see the next few months are going to be super crazy so forgive me if I don't post for a while, but I will be sure to post pictures of all my activities. :)

Home Sweet Home...

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Fri, 29 Aug 2008 02:59:00 +0000

Well, I made it back to TN yesterday. I thought my schedule would be pretty empty, since I am no longer working for Krystal, but as soon as I got to church this morning that quickly changed. At least for this week. Since I have more free time until I find something else, I am hoping to finally start a girls bible study like I've been promising for a while now as well as go to Murfreesboro and see some friends that are now back in school and living away from home. Anyway, here are the last few pictures of Luke. At least some of my favorites :)

Big, Bright Brown Eyes!

I LOVE HIS HAIR!

More Luke....

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Fri, 29 Aug 2008 02:59:00 +0000

Well I leave for home tomorrow. It's going to be a bit of a bittersweet feeling. I'm not excited to leave, but a bit anxious to be home again! I will have been away about 6 weeks. Anyway, here are some more pictures of Luke that I took today. He is now 10 days old! How time flies!

Even more pictures of Luke!

Lots more to follow!!

Some Good Sleep and A Few Happy Meals Later...

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Tue, 12 Aug 2008 18:27:00 +0000

Well I have definitely got enough sleep lately. Probably too much. Anyway, things have calmed down a lot since my last post. Last week was VBS and since Angie was the director things were a little hectic. The kids were worn out by the end of the week. Just before VBS I realized I hadn't taken any pictures since we haven't really been going anywhere but church and doctor's appointments and a few violin lessons. But I have definitely made up for that! Since I was here for VBS, Angie suggested I take pictures and put a slideshow together for the family night at the end of the week. Here are a few of the kids that I pulled out of the slideshow, as well as some others from this week of the girls climbing a tree in the front yard and Kylie getting baptized.

Here's VBS:

This was pretty funny! The kids have been playing outside non stop for about a week. The weather has been nice and it's been good for them to get their energy out. Anyway, the girls had been out in the front yard for a while and Jeremy noticed they hadn't come in for a while so he went to check on the them. He opened the front door and yelled for them. They answered but he couldn't see them. He finally realized they were up in the tree. BUT they were so far up in the tree he could barely see them. Caitlyn wasn't scared at all and came right down. Kylie on the other hand didn't realize how high she was and got too scared to get down so Jeremy had to go up after her. Here are the pictures from this adventure. The last once is a picture of the tree. They were almost at the very top and you can see just how big the tree is in comparison to the truck in the drive way!

This is Kylie getting baptized Sunday night after the family night. She was so excited!

We went out to eat Friday after VBS to celebrate the end of a successful week. Outside is a fountain that the kids found extremely entertaining! As you can see they were completely soaked by the end. It wasn't until after the kids got wet that we noticed the sign! OOPS!

And no. The baby is not here yet. :)

New week = new items on the list

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Thu, 31 Jul 2008 03:39:00 +0000

Well these last couple of weeks have brought a couple more things to add to the list from my last post.
1: A few days after I wrote that last post Angie went back to the hospital for the night, thinking it was premature labor. It turned out to be a flu bug that John David had when he was complaining of abdominal pain. Since then we have all had it throughout the week. And let me tell you it was no fun! Luckily there were no bodily fluids involved in this flu bug. Just a headache, body ache, and muscle aches all day long! Also fortunately it was only a 24 hour bug so it swept through pretty quick.
2: I got a call from my mom today telling me that my Grandpa (dad's dad) was in the hospital for intestinal bleeding. Long story short (and b/c I don't actually know all the details) he will be in the hospital for about 3 days. My parents are now in Clarksville doing hospital visits and taking care of grandma.

As I was typing this, I was thinking about why we stress over things and stress in general. Why do we stress over things that we really don't have to? We stress over little things that only seem like big things to the world, b/c they don't have God to lean on. We worry about things like money, jobs, and everyday stuff. Christians have a God that holds the world in the palm of His hand and has already written what is going to happen in the future. If it's already written what is little me fretting over it going to change? Us worrying about worldly things is proof that the world has rubbed off on us, b/c we are worrying about the same things they are. Looking at my blog I was reading the verse I put on the end of my last post (Romans 8:28) I'm not really sure why I put that at the end of that post, other than the fact that it is definitely one of my favorite verses, but that verse holds one of the hardest lessons we have to learn. We have to learn to trust God with whatever He brings our way. We HAVE to trust Him b/c He is the one that put it there and it's there for a reason. It's all about trust and faith in the one we have given our lives to.

On a happier note... here are some picture of Haley and Lanning at the pool. I was watching them one day and my friend Emily was watching some kids as well so we decided to meet at the pool. Enjoy! Tell me what you think! :)

The Madness Continues...

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Sun, 20 Jul 2008 15:06:00 +0000

Well it sure has been a crazy couple of months! Since my parents got back from Beirut, it has been non stop. In case you don't know here is a list of things that have been going on just in the last three months.
We found out my dad is a low grade diabetic.
Mom had her gallbladder removed.
Andrew had two blood clots in his lung.
Grandpa Bob died. (The memorial service is July 26th.)
I've gone to live with Angie while she is on partial bed rest until Luke is born.
My aunt's grandson drowned flood water, so mom flew to Ohio for 3 days.
And the latest event was John David being in the hospital last night with abdominal pain and a spiking fever.
Oh and dad told me this morning that he thinks he has some kidney stones, so we'll see what happens with that.

So everyone is pretty much physically and emotionally drained! To say the least! Though we are all exhausted, we find peace and rest in knowing the truth in Romans 8:28.

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

A Glimpse of Wisdom

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Fri, 27 Jun 2008 03:43:00 +0000

Well I haven't gotten a chance to post the rest of my pictures from Resolved. They are on my computer and edited but I have so much that I want to say about the conference that I want to wait until I have time to tell you all about the amazing teaching! So until then here are some of my favorite quotes from the conference. They will give you a glimpse of just how passionate these guys are about the gospel.

"You will be held accountable in Heaven for what you have heard"

- Steve Lawson

"There are only 2 things that remain in the end:
1. God's Word
2. the souls of men
both of which are where we should put our concentration"

-John Piper

"If you are rightly prepared to die, you will know how to live"

-Rick Holland

"Never be content with you grasp of the gospel."

-Rick Holland

"Jesus is more beautiful than Hell is horrific. Run to Christ!"

-Rick Holland

I know they are a bit short, but if you think about them and listen to the messages they are very powerful words! This is a very small piece of the wisdom poured out over those four days! Whenever someone has asked me how the conference was I have a rush of things the men said that I want to share, but they all come so fast that I can't put it all into words. It's like drinking from a fire hydrant and someone asking you how the water tasted! There are not enough words! The entire week you are so overwhelmed with the preaching and mass of believers around you that your brain can't keep up. I strongly encourage anyone to listen to the messages! The are on the resolved website (resolved.org) Though this conference is for college students, the messages are for applicable to everyone.

Here is one picture from day 4! Obviously touched up a bit on my computer :)

Coming Soon...

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Tue, 24 Jun 2008 16:30:00 +0000

I know I haven't updated you on the rest of the conference. The last two days are coming soon. Things have been a bit nuts. I felt like I haven't really stopped since I got back. Anyway I will post the rest of the pictures asap.

Resolved - Day 2

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Sun, 15 Jun 2008 23:16:00 +0000

Wow. What can I say? The conference just keeps getting better! How how could it not? Today we heard from Randy Alcorn, John MacArthur, C.J. Mahaney and John Piper. All incredible speakers!

Randy spoke on the view of Heaven in Revelation 21:1-6. He talked a lot about how nothing on earth will satisfy because God has given us the ultimate gift in one person and one place. Jesus Christ and Heaven. Both free gifts that we don't deserve. Our love for God is proof that God loves us. Everything is from God including our ability to love others. And if we truly love others we will share the reality of Hell with them, because for the unbeliever this glimpse of the world is the closest they will ever come to experiencing Heaven.

John MacArthur spoke on Jesus talking about Hell to a group of religious leaders in Luke 12:1-9. In this passage Jesus didn't choose to speak to a group of unbeliever but rather a group of hypocrites who only thought they were followers. He also chose not to talk about pleasant things but about the terrifying reality of Hell. John reminded us that the root attitude of hypocrisy is the fear of man rather then the fear of God. But God is the one that has the ability to cast you into the fire of Hell. You have power over Satan but you can't lock out or contain God. Fear the one who has control over everything! John also talked on the reality that we may fool those around us who think they are living a Godly life but they can't fool God. He knows everything, doesn't find out but KNOWS. All sinners are living on borrowed time an the greatest gift God gives unbelievers is time.

Last night we heard from the oh so exciting, C.J. Mahaney. He is so great to listen to b/c he is so passionate about God and all he is graciously giving us that we don't deserve. C.J. taught on knowing God as our father and realizing what it means to be adopted by God into his family. He talked about how desperate we were without even knowing we needed saving, how we were even enemies of God, and how we didn't seek out Him, He came to us. Not only did we now know we needed saving but we didn't even want His free gift of his son. Christ didn't come just to save us but also give us the ability to join the Father in Heaven. By sending Christ, God redeems us from our own sin, gave us the gift of heaven, and on top of that He gives us so many blessings of love, mercy, and compassion. The more we understand our own salvation the more awesome God is to us and the more our love for Him as our Father increases! Adoption into God's family includes generosity, affection, acceptance, closeness, and the inheritance of sharing God's glory in Heaven. C.J pointed out that the greatest sorrow we can cause God would be to not accept the free gift of His son DYING for you. If we aren't convince that God loves us when Jesus didn't just come to earth but was SENT by the Father to die, what could it possibly take to convince us of His love?!? There is no greater sacrifice God could have given. By accepting this gift, we go from being a slave to sin to becoming a son of God and an heir to inheritance.

We also went Ruby's dinner for lunch and had a great time, as you can tell fro the pics. Jessi and Steph were playing horseshoes with ashley's bracelets and a fork.

Tomorrow... Day 3!

Resolved - Day 1

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Sun, 15 Jun 2008 00:00:00 +0000

Well we finally made it! We got to the airport at about 5:45am and flew out of Nashville at 7:25, with at connecting flight in Dallas. We eventually arrived in Phoenix around 1pm. We then proceeded to Smed and Janet's (anxiously :) ) That night we had a pool party with some of the college group from their church. The next morning they guys went on a hike up Camel Back Mountain. I was much too tired, so I stayed and took the opportunity to sleep in! After chowing some amazing chips and salsa, we piled in the vans and headed for sunny California. Here are some pics of our drive.

And man was it hot!! The high has been around 112 degrees and there is no relief in sight. Luckily, we don't have to even leave the building to get to the conference. (The hotel and conference center are connected.) Here are some pictures of the first session. We were all super tired from the drive and a little more jet lag. There is a two hour difference from Tennessee. It's amazing how big that small gap feels when you are traveling!

The theme for the conference as a whole is Heaven and Hell. Last nights session was on Hebrews 9:27-28 and death taught by Rick Holland, who is the college pastor at Grace Community Church. Though death doesn't seem like a very encouraging subject it was very convicting. It helped that he started with stating that if you are prepared to die, you will know how to live. His three main points were:
1. Death is unavoidable.
Everyone is going to die and everyone is born with a death sentence, so be prepared b/c you don't know when your time will come. No matter how bad things seem in your life right now, it will not even compare to what it will be like in Hell. Everyday is fleeting and you are know the closest to death now than you have. So spend the time you have left glorifying God.

2. Judgement is curtain.
Everyone will, one day, die and then be judged before God. Rick pointed out that Hell is going to be full of everything we hate and dislike (fear, darkness, absence of God, and the longing for one more chance to follow Christ and get into Heaven) "If you think of Hell rightly you will either be saved or go insane."

3. Salvation is possible.
Crucify your pride, b/c Christ was crucified and killed for you sins. We owe everything to Him. God is just and we should be thankful that He isn't fair. If He were fair, heaven wouldn't be an option for us. Christ would not have been the one crucified and sent to hell to take away our sins.

It was a great start to our conference and it really set our minds on what we are doing here. This morning we heard from Randy Alcorn, a well know author, and John MacArthur, pastor of Grace Community Church. I will post on them at the end of the day. Tonight we hear from C.J Mahaney, who everyone is excited to hear! Anyway, there is more to come!

Some more wedding pics

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Wed, 28 May 2008 01:51:00 +0000

Here are some more wedding pictures I was playing with tonight.

I'm Back...for now!

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Tue, 27 May 2008 04:10:00 +0000

Well I know it's been awhile, but I really haven't had much to post about. I've just been busy with normal everyday day stuff. Wedding season is starting to pick up with the arrival of Summer so I'll be even more busy come June. We have 5 weddings in June and the one Saturday we don't have a wedding I'll be in California at the Resolved Conference, which am super excited about! Last year was so much fun I decided that I was going no matter what! So all that to say I am going to be pretty tied up for a while. So I may not have time to post very much, but hopefully I will be able to post some pictures. I plan to write everyday I'm in California and let you (few readers I have...Angie and mom) know what's going on. Speaking of pictures here are a few of the wedding we did this past weekend. I know its just of flowers and they look pretty much the same but they were my favorites of the day and I've been playing with the effects in Lightroom (which is kinda like photoshop, but better). Anyway, enjoy!

Fun times...

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Tue, 08 Apr 2008 01:59:00 +0000

This week has been well... interesting. (In a good way!!) The week hasn't been as busy as we thought. Soccer practice was canceled Tuesday when I got here. And the game was rained out Saturday morning. But the kids are so full of energy that even sitting on the couch watching them run around pretending to be the pink panther, spider-man and cat woman will make you tired enough. The concert Friday night went great! Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. Angie and I sang at the concert and then again Sunday morning and Sunday night at church. Today we when to Washington D.C, which is always an adventure! The kids get so excited with so much to see. Caitlyn was curious about everything. Kylie was fascinated with the bugs, and John David just couldn't wait to see the dinosaur bones. After everyone was getting a little restless, we went to Johnny Rocket's for dinner. It was a day that definitely wore them out!! They were actually awake almost all the way home. Of course the girls passed out about 5 minutes from the house. Oh well, we got lots of pictures. I'm sure Angie will have a slideshow up asap.

Virginia Here I Come!

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Tue, 01 Apr 2008 04:20:00 +0000

Tomorrow I leave for Virginia! I'm so excited!! I leave early in the morning and get there around noon. We have a busy week planned and I'm really looking forward to taking some fun pictures of the kids. My sister and I will be singing in a concert at their church on Friday, so when we get back to Richmond we will go practice for that. The week is also include soccer games, doctors appointments, church functions, and the super fun day to Washington D.C! Concluded by a long, 12 hour drive home. It's a long trip but well worth it!! This is a picture from my last visit. It's always so great so sit on a plane for so long and then come down the stairs to hear three kids scream in a crowded airport "Aunt Rea!!!" It's one of those half embarrassing moments where you are proud at the same time to be so warmly greeted. Here are more pics from the same visit:

Hola!!

noreply@blogger.com (Andrea McKay) — Mon, 24 Mar 2008 04:09:00 +0000

Hello All,
I realized the other day that I haven't posted in awhile so I thought I would take advantage of the free time. Not much to report. My parents are still in Beirut but should be home Tuesday. I have to admit it has been kinda nice just being home alone for a few days but I am getting a little restless with no one around! Once they get back we have about 5 days to catch up and then I leave for Virginia. Followed by a visit from the Knutson Klan. After that things will finally be somewhat back to normal. I am very excited to go though! I get to go with them to the ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby and of course to see all the kids. Angie gets so excited when I come. I feel so privileged to have such great siblings.

I've been thinking a lot about my nieces and nephews this week. Krystal (my photographer friend/boss)is apart of an organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. (nilmdts.org) It's a group of photographers who volunteer to take pictures of babies with birth defects of still born births. Though it is very depressing and sad it is also incredible for the parents of these children. Krystal had one of these shoots this week, and was telling how nervous she was and some about the family. As she was telling me all of this I couldn't help but think how lucky we are to have so many kids in our family and all of (through the grace of God) come out perfectly normal. I can't imagine going through what this family has been through this past week. I don't know if they are believers but if not, hopefully this will be a time that God will use to soften their hearts.

The pictures and stories on the website are amazing. I really makes me thankful that nothing like this has happened but it is also humbling to know that it could. We have been shield and protected in so many ways. And each times I've taken advantage.

Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose.
