David Choi Forever and Ever Tour Live in Malaysia!

It was an awesome chance to get this opportunity to meet up and interview David Choi under The Star's BRATs. Honestly, I just got to be more familiar with David Choi and his music only a week before his concert. I have slow internet at home and I take every chance to watch Wong Fu videos whenever I go to Starbucks. I think David Choi made soundtracks for all of Wong Fu's videos. But what got me wanting to go to his concert is his talent in music. Every Wong Fu video feels good because of his music, and I wanted to feel it live.

So we got to Wisma Bentley at about 4pm where he walked into the Auditorium for a soundcheck. We were allowed to enter during his soundcheck to set up an interview. He was a pleasant guy and everything was cool for him. He just loved to mention roti kaya all the time. He was already here for a few days and Jin from Hitz.fm hosted him, brought him around KL for its great food.

Fans were already waiting since 4pm to buy tickets and get the chance to catch him walking into the auditorium, which they did. Their early wait paid well.

So, I'm Jenn opened up the stage by performing 3 songs. Jenn performed on stage with another 2 members, performed great harmonised music. The guitars were in harmony, the voices were in harmony too.. The guys could sing the high notes really well and it was blissful to the ears. Jenn is just a Malaysian youtuber, just like David Choi. David Choi came up stage with his band from Singapore. David usually makes his music by himself, and it would be impossible if he were to perform them live. His music was upbeat, especially with the kick of the drums, you would just feel like gettting on your feet and dancing along. Check out the videos I made below for a feel of his music live. :)

At the last quarter of his performance, he broke a string on his guitar! He didnt have a backup guitar so he borrowed one from a guitarist in So, I'm Jenn.

Home or DIY Studio Photoshoot

Reuben was going to leave to Kampar to begin his first semester of university at UTAR, so he stayed over my place to just have some fun. He wanted to have a photo of himself in a white world, like how some Korean artist take their photos. It was part of a dare too.. haha..

Just by using a simple wall in the living hall upstairs, which is somewhat my office, we got the photos he wanted..

The setup was simple. We just used a white background and 2 flashes to balance the light on the left and right side.. The most important part is to not have shadows produced on the side of the subject/model. This will make post processing easier. Using photoshop, I erased the white background to a pure white background using paint and magic wand.. Sometimes, quick selection is better.

You can see that there is a light and fan switch behind and the floor is brown parquet. White paper is used so that editing would be easier. Of course my photos are not perfect because this is actually my first attempt to do such a photoshoot. Feel free to improvise from this and show me your product.. :)

Logitech Gaming Mouse G300

All this while, I have been using a normal 2 button with scroll mouse for everything I do on the computer or laptop. Basically, my whole life revolves around my laptop and pc, because I dont use tablets and other fancy gadgets. I use my laptop most of the time to watch movies, play games and edit graphics and videos. Soon, my mouse started to give me problems, so I decided to get a new one.

I quickly got to the Logitech website to browse their products. To be honest, I clicked "sort from lowest to highest price" first.. xD While browsing, I noticed that the wireless mouse are usually RM100 and above, or maybe RM80 but its just another 2 button with scroll mouse. I wanted something more functional, something useful. Perhaps something with more buttons. While browsing, I saw this mouse having such a cunning shape, it was quite sleek and proportional, symmetrical, and had nice curves. I saw the price and it was just RM89. Wired? Who cares? I dont wanna think about changing batteries and pay more just for a wireless? No thanks. G300 was just perfect. It has 9 programmable buttons and oh, its lights also was another reason why I bought it.. :)

I can choose 7 different colours, representing a setting. The mouse also has built in memory where 3 customized profiles can be set and used in any computer. There is also a software that you can install into your PC for you to have gazillion profiles for a gazillion uses. It's a gaming mouse, so it also auto-detect games and preset them to the most comfortable settings. When you run a specific program or game, it will automatically change profile. Awesome isint it? :)

The is also said to have a sensitive optical sensor, adjustable ranging from 250dpi to 2500dpi, frankly I still have no idea how to measure or explain this because I havent adjusted it, I already like how its set.

Its been a day since I used it and Im still happy about it.

Spontaneous KL trip

I'm on my longest break of my life so usually I get up at about 12pm everyday. A very bad habit indeed, I actually find myself having better days if I wake up earlier. Anyway, I got up at 12 and flipped open my laptop to see Sheila messaging me on facebook..

It was very random but I myself didn't want to just stay at home, and I needed to get a camera accessory from CK Music, the place where I got my Zoom H1.

Technically, you cant find this in Malaysia. You can barely see one on lelong.my or mudah.my or even ebay.com.my. It costed 34 bucks in the end, was abit expensive but to settle my hunt for it, I just got it. So this is how it looks when i mount it on my 500D.

Yeah, my phone camera sucks.. But back to the trip, it was funny that Sheila asked me out last minute, then I randomly asked Reuben out last minute, and the he asked his best friend Vivian out also last minute. Hah! Check out the chain reaction man.

Reuben came within an hour, just nice for me to have a shower and cook a bowl of Indomee. I was hungry because I didnt have breakfast. I was planning to eat food in KL so I didnt want to have anything heavy. We took NPE and the Smart Tunnel straight to Bukit Bintang and parked at Lot 10. We had lunch at it's Hutong Food Court, one of my favorite food spots. We all had beef noodles because its something we haven't eaten in a while.

We also bought sushi from Isetan's foodmarket but it didnt taste good. We headed to CK Music where I bought my adapter and Sheila went to try some guitars. She is actually looking for a good guitar with a pickup, and one thing about musical instruments is that you cant just buy a guitar like that. Guitar selection is very subjective, depending on player, comfort, type of music and many more. We spent about an hour there and were gonna explore more guitars sooner. :)

Somehow Vivan broke her sandal. The sole of her sandal came off and she had to drag her way to Berjaya Times Square. First thing we did there was to hunt new slippers for her. She finally got one and we went around the whole Times Square, looking for caps, necklaces and piercings. Most of the caps didn't look like they were manufactured properly until we saw one shop. We were interested but since Reuben bought good caps from Petaling Street before, we then headed there first. We walked around, bought "air mata kucing" and had beef noodles again, but it was better.. :)

We then looked for caps but we didn't find good ones anymore.. Reuben regret that he should have actually bought caps from Times Square. We couldn't go back there to shop because Vivian was rushing home. She didn;t want to be back late because the next day was her first day in HELP University. So we went left Lot 10 and headed to the Smart Tunnel.

We almost had the adventure of our lives. The Smart Tunnel was closed so we had to divert to another route which we didnt know. SO we ended up on the Maju Expressway (MEX) and this highway takes you straight to Putrajaya from KL. There was an exit to Bukit Jalil but we didn't take it because it neither said Subang Jaya or Petaling Jaya on the signboard. So we kept going, going and going on that long straight highway. There was no exit other than Putrajaya, so we drove for about half an hour on that straight highway. We got out to Putrajaya and took the Puchong way home. It was a really big round to get to subang jaya. Through our journey, we also spotted the supermoon. Couldnt get a clear shot though..

Had nasi lemak for supper in the end! Tee Hee!

I got a new Haircut! :P

Yesterday, me, Reuben and YK went off to taipan for a haircut.. YK wanted to go to APT because he knew a hair stylist there. Reuben preferred to go to Kimarie because he also knew someone there. I decided to go APT as YK recommended me to, and Kimarie had no junior hair stylist. It was one of the few times went to a saloon because I grew up being always brought to the barber. I'm also still not at a stage where I would spend 30 bucks to cut my hair.. haha..

We went into APT and somehow, YK's stylist, Ice, wasn't there. Another senior stylist who claimed to be professional said he can do the job for YK. So he then agreed and I wouldn't wanna go too far with what happened.. haha.. YK in the end just had a very bad haircut.

A junior hairstylist did my hair and I was satisfied with its product. YK regrets and he actually wished the junior hair stylist cut for him.. haha. The funniest part was during payment, first they didnt accept credit card because only payment that is 50 bucks and above can be paid by credit card and YK wasnt happy about that. He also had a member card and he is actually illegible for a 50% discount, but its only applicable on weekdays. Yesterday was a Sunday. Haha! Poor YK, everything just didnt work out for him.

We got a meal and then we went to Kimarie for Reuben to cut his hair. His friend was there and his hair was done very well. At kimarie, you can see the stylist take real careful and detail during styling. The stylist would sit and focus on sections very intensely. A very professional saloon.

Anyway, I still like my hair style now. I was wondering last night. I am always behind the camera, taking photographs of other people and not myself. I feel that it kinda makes me more timid and have lower self esteem and confidence. I think my experience of photography and video is quite dense, of course I do not know everything, but I feel that it's time for me to be in front of the camera. I do wish to be an MC or a host one day. Well, if there are any opportunities out there that you know, do tell me! I'm interested.. :D

MC Jin In My Dream Concert

I didn't really know Jin except from the movie 2Fast 2Furious. I just thought he was an actor but then A.RON introduced to me his song, Angels;

Besides Angels, I also know he did a rap in Lee Hom's song, Heroes of Earth;

So, I wasn't really clear about him but all i know is that he is a dope rapper. American Born Chinese, ABC has been seen to blow many rappers off in free style rap competitions. Aaron was quite of a fan of him so he attended his meet and greet session in Sungei Wang. His eagerness to meet him actually got him 2 Rockzone tickets worth RM 170 each! He was chosen for a mini competition, he was to finish MC Jin's rap line, which he did and won 2 tickets. I was one of the lucky ones chosen by Aaron to follow him to Jin's concert.

We took the train to KL Live @Life Center along Jalan Sultan Ismail. The show was opened by Shawn Lee and Dennis Lau, which I think is Malaysia's best violinist and he also was an actor in Nasi Lemak 2.0.

Soon, Jin came on stage rapping rhymes with DJ Quickie, his DJ. He performed many Cantonese songs because the crowd were mostly Cantonese educated. He did ask if there were any who didn't understand Cantonese but no one admitted. Even then, he did some of his English raps like When The Lights Come on, Shoot for the Moon and Learn Chinese.

Shawn Lee and Dennis Lau came up somewhere in the middle for some freestyle session. Jin went on doing some mini games and did a lot of Cantonese raps. It was nice to see Jin being so humble on stage and so connected to the crowd. He comes down the stage to talk with his fans and do games. He did call some guys on stage to "back him up" and they did a pretty good job too. He also ate durian! At the beginning of his concert, he did mention that he wanted to try durian and he told the crowd to shout, I Love To Eat Durian! At the 3rd quarter of his concert, someone really got him durian and he ate it on stage.

Well anyway, thats about it for his concert. He says that he's a father now and on his birthday, he will be releasing a new song called Brand New Me I think. It was a good song, reflecting him changing, not forgetting the past but to move on to a better future. He closed with one sentence, God Bless you all!

A very active day :D

I woke up today at 7.30 to hang the clothes from the washer. I usually dont get up that early but I had to get to Damansara at 9am for a video shoot at the Touch Dialysis Center. I'm currently working with Touch Community under Kuboid Productions in helping them promote their fund raising event. We are hoping to produce a very good documentary.

After filming, I straight away got home to get ready for my first Paintball game. At 3pm, we met at school and headed to Selayang Mall where Splat Zone Paintball was located. This paintball field is run in an indoor carpark.

The most epic thing that happened here is that we got stuck in the elevator. It was an old mall so we were not surprised, or we tried not to be. haha. we tried pressing the buttons of every floor so that the lift might move, but it didnt. We pressed the intercom, but the button was hardened that it could not be pressed. We rang the bell but I guess no one would hear us. So then, we had to pry the lift doors open and climbed out of the lift. Haha!

We then reached the paintball arena and we had to wait quite long. They were preparing markers, they dont call it guns, for the 13 of us. It was RM70 per person for unlimited bullets for 3 hours. We somehow didnt really enjoyed it so much because everytime we ran out of bullets, we will go out to the counter and they will end our game, which is so soon. They didnt allow us to bring ammo packs so we could not reload in the arena. In the end, it was a series of short matches. In between matches, it was also a long wait because there were other teams. All in all, it was abit of a disappointment. My friend said the management here isint good and that next time I should join them in Tanamera Paintball or even at Summit USJ.

My experience; the shots were not that painful. I think it was a .50 caliber marker so it wasnt that bad. Geoffrey said that a .65 caliber would hurt. Compared to laser tag, the shots are meant to hurt you so you wouldnt simply run out and try shooting everyone. You had to take cover and think before moving forward.

Anyway, it was just alright for my first time. I hope to play in shah alam where they say its more exciting compared to selayang. Oh but I was able to catch a beautiful sunset from the carpark.. :)

We were so hungry at about the 2nd hour of paintball, especially the cooking vent was near there, we could smell fried chicken! So after everything, we headed to Tak Fok Hong Kong Seafood. It is known to have awesome crabs there. However, most of us were not in the mood for crabs because we were quite tired. So we just got one set of crabs and other dishes like Kangkung Belacan, Friend Prawns, Steamed fish, fried tofu and marmite chicken. It was delicious!

Well, thats all the photos because my camera battery died.. :( Well hopefully the sneak peak will get you hungry.. :P

So, do you think that was all I did? No! I still went to watch Avengers in 3D that night itself! The show was at 11.55pm so I guess everything is just falling into place. :)

Avengers, I wouldn't say it was Amazing but it was a good movie. Lots of values were portrayed in the video and I loved how the black widow can twist stories so that she can get her information. Its a psychological thing so I liked that.. haha..

It was also my first time watching 3D in a local cinema. If you would ask me, I will say the 3D and non-3D doesnt have much difference. 3D movies have a deeper depth where the background and the object is separated. It is not much of a difference because ordinary movies have a good depth of field but its just not separated.

Anyway, it was a good long day. Now I'm just chilling at my local Starbucks, having a hot mocha and doing this blog post.. :)

BeatNation featuring Rejuvenate Dance Crew

Recently, BeatNation, a cluster of beatboxers, got together to aid Rejuvenate Dance Crew in an acoustic dance competition called Beat Street Dance Competition. Contestants were to do a dance performance without the use of radios or music.. The music had to be acoustic.

Being their documenter, I only recorded the performance of BeatNation and Rejuvenate and I'll say, its a must see video.. Taken alone by me and the help of CoEx Canon 550D, I mounted that on a tripod and use my Canon 500D to record this video. Audio was recorded by a Zoom H1 and this is a hight quality recording of their performance.. Please do take a look.. :)

I got a new gadget! :D

It was a long, ok, not that long but it was a long journey lah.. I waited for the bus for about an hour to get to KL Sentral in another hour. I got up the monorail to Low Yat, being the digital mall, I was hoping that they sold the Zoom H1.

I went to every camera shop and they only sold RODE mics. I use a Canon 500D so it does not have a microphone input unlike the 550D A salesman downstairs did offer the H1 to me for RM380, but he wasn't there in the end, and his colleague said they dont sell it. It got me to my nerves, especially when I was wet from the rain and had blisters on my leg.

Since I had a complimentary drink from Starbucks because of doing a survey for them, I decided to kick back at the nearest Starbucks and have a chicken pie to fill my stomach. I also called Christopher and Stanley to help me check where can I find that device. Chris found a shop along Jalan Imbi called CK Music
selling the device. So I quickly got their number and asked if they had the stock.

A man named Haris picked up the phone. It was the last set and he reserved it for me. As soon as I got there, he was already expecting me. He brought out its package and I tested it. I was so impressed with its performance. Fast start up and it focuses precisely on the object you want to record. The surrounding noise is as minimal as possible so that the object recorded is emphasized. I plugged in my Philips headphones and the sound was great!

Zoom H1 also has an accessory set which can be bought separately, and I do suggest that if you get a Zoom H1, get its accessory pack too.. Its wind screen is so useful. It cuts of wind from being recorded, i tested it under a fan, very impressive. The accessory pack also comes with a power input for the mic, handheld microphone adapter, mini tripod, a protective case and a USB cable.

All in all, im quite happy with the product that I bought. Its been a day old so I've yet to test it more in different conditions, but other forums give good reviews too.. :)

Penang Day 2

We woke up to a wet thursday morning. It was raining and the more we just felt like sleeping. But we still got up at around 9am to freshen up and headed straight to town for a good breakfast. The hotel food was crappy, they say.

We took the bus to Komtar and walked a block to Jalan Penang, where good fried koay teow and cendol can be found; Joo Hooi Cafe

After the good meal, we walked through the old streets of Penang. we were heading to the jetty to meet up with another member of the party and to take a bus to Penang Hill. We hopped on bus 204 from he jetty terminal which took us straight to Penang Hill, a.k.a. Bukit Bendera.

It was a quick ride to the top especially with their new trains. From the top, you could see the whole of Georgetown and the Penang Bridge. You can also chill at a cafe up there.

*Photography tip. If you want to take a photo of a very bright background and dark foreground, set your camera aperture to f/8 or a higher value and use flash. The bigger aperture will decrease the amount of light from the background and the flash highlights your object, for example, me in the photo above. If set on auto, your photo most likely will come out like below..

We didnt stay up on the hill for long because a storm was brewing and some of us were quite desperate for the famous asam laksa in Air Itam.. On the way to Penang Hill, bus 204 does pass by the famous Asam Laksa Store. It is not walking distance from Penang Hill, so you have to take a bus to Kek Lok Si Temple, which is a landmark for that shop.

The Laksa here was great, The Sugar Cane drink here was great, the Fried Bread (Mua Chi and Ham Jim Peng) was also great! All in one, this is a place you must visit.

After filling our stomachs, we walked to the Kek Lok Si Temple. It seems that theyre building a very big Buddha there.

If im not mistaken, Kek Lok Si Temple is also known as the Turtle Palace. If you walk up the steps to the temple, you will arrive at its sanctuary.

The temple was so big that you need to take a cable car up.. Sadly, the cable car was already closed when we reached there because getting there was far and quite long. This is what we saw on the way up.

Since the temple was closing, we headed back to the city to have dinner at New Lane, which was said to be good. Anyhow, I didnt really have a good meal here..

Otak-otak, a disappointment, it was cold and mushy.. perhaps not cooked enough..

After a non satisfying meal, we headed back to the hotel to freshen up and get ready for our 2nd dinner across our hotel again. We were eager to try something new, so we tried the Horse Shoe Crab, which I did mention that it was another disappointment. Anyway, for info about Viva Food Heaven, click here.

My Penang Experience

Me and my group of friends always wanted to travel somewhere further, especially with our STPM done, we just wanted to take some wings and learn to fly.. Ok nvm, thats a song I sang for choir last time.. Anyhow, we did plan to go to Singapore which was ok for me but the others were tight on budget, so I guess we have to travel locally..

We took the 11pm intercity train (RM 68 both ways) from KL Sentral, which will arrive at Butterworth at around 6.30 in the morning.. I thought it will be a good timing so that we can spend a longer day there and check in was at 2pm. No train was to arrive at that time, but after.

We arrived at Butterworth station at about 7am, watching the sunrise right above us as we stepped off the coach.. The ferry jetty was just walking distance away so it wasn't really a problem to get to the island. The ferry ride was about 15 minutes.. It costs RM1.60 to get to Georgetown but its a free ride for the opposite direction.

As we reached the island, we rushed to look for our bus that could take us to our hotel, Naza Talyya. We were not familiar with the public transportation there, even if you remember the bus numbers, you just dont know where to wait for it, but due to good transport management, the bus terminal is at the jetty and its arranged from its bus series of 100, 200 and 300.. We needed to hop on bus 101 so it wasnt difficult to find.

The driver told us that our landmark was Tesco, which meant that it was walking distance to the hotel. It was good because we needed to buy food and water. We left our luggage in the hotel till check in time came. So we spent the next 4 hours hanging around in Tesco, eating and sleeping. The train ride wasn't that comfortable, so most of us couldn't sleep.

We checked in at 2pm and being tired, we took a good shower and slept till 5pm. We were suppose to go to the beach at 5pm but right when were about to go down, we received numerous of calls about a tsunami warning. Sumatra was hit by another earthquake, and Reuben actually did feel the tremors around 4pm. He did try to wake us up but this is what happened;

Reuben: Eh YK, why is the building shaking? This hotel gonna collapse already?
YK: Huh? What?! What scorpion?!
Reuben: Errr....

Haha, YK was dreaming I guess.. But anyway, plans to swim or go to the beach was canceled. We stayed in the room for further updates, not to mention, our hotel was right beside the sea so we were quite worried about the tsunami. News came in saying that the waves will hit at around 9pm. It was about 6 so we decided to quickly grab dinner at the food court across our hotel.

Viva Local Food Heaven, never expected the food court across our hotel had such good food. The best among them was the grilled fish (stingray). Its spices were so tasty and its chilli sauce filled with onions was not so piercing hot so it was an enjoyable meal.. This is also a list of what we ate there;

Up Running Errands

Hey! It's been quite awhile since I posted, so here's what has been going on..

Since Singapore, I have been involved in making videos for corporate companies. Generally, I made a 3D video for the launch of a companies website.. All these was done under Kuboid Productions, a company founded by my close friend, Keenan.. The video took about a month to be planned, arranged and finalised. Last week was its launching where we handled its play, and it went quite well..

I am currently running about 5 video projects at the same time.. It was the website launch, Touch Community, SMK Seafield Maths and Science Week and Beatnation's An Introduction. Technically I did not do all the videos at the same time, Thank God!

The question was, would working this way be better than working part time at a restaurant or a department store? I was making videos at home so I practically worked every day at every hour, waking up and going straight to the PC, and sleeping late at night. It seems to be longer than an ordinary 9 to 5 job. But one thing about making videos is that every situation is different.. I faced more problems than success while making videos. Its not like a routine that you have to do the same thing everyday, thats why I find making videos more interesting, and I love it! I meet different people looking for different needs too. I gain experience lots of experience by meeting different types of people with different attitudes and perspectives, which makes things alot complicated but at the same time, opens up my mind.

If I were to do a 9 to 5 job, perhaps ill be in an office or duty spot, doing the same thing everyday, just like how I made calls at a call center. You just get bored of it and you dont gain much experience. Speaking about price, I get way alot more making videos than doing part time jobs..

But in the end, though I am committed in such work, it might all end when I, hopefully, start university in September. I did not do well in my STPM, nor flopped it but it still wasnt a good sight for me.. I always looked up to people who can lead, like head prefects who have a high level of intelligence, active in sports and hobbies which make them an all rounder, like my brother.. But to be honest, girls who are like that make me go, whoaaaa.. ok nevermind. The point is that I want to be like them, be someone who people may look up to.. I dont want fame, I just want to have that character in me. It may take a long time but I believe that university is my turning point. I can still change there..

Anyway, Im typing this post from my new laptop my dad bought for me.. It runs on an i7 2670QM processor, has 8GB ram and a 2GB gfx card.. It has performed very well so far and I'm so happy about it, thanks to my parents and brother who supported the idea, the laptop is helping me alot in my work.. :)

Well anyway, the past few weeks wasn't that easy but educating.. I hope many people out there try to engage towards more activities than just staying home and doing nothing.. Not saying that its not good to stay home often, but just try to grasp all you can in life.. Opportunities, never lose it, even the smallest chances.. :)

Singapore!

It was always planned to go to Singapore to work and to go for a holiday there. Somehow, the holiday plan didnt turn up well so I just ended up going for the work trip, but I wouldn't exactly say that it was all work and no play, it was partially a holiday for me..

I was working with Seed Communications running an event in Marina Expo and Convention Center, and yes, I did stay in The Marina Sands Hotel itself. Famous for its Skypark, it was always my dream to go up to that 57th floor and take photographs of the scenery there. Sadly, I didnt bring my camera because I expected myself to be working. It was my biggest regret. I settled for my phone camera but it takes quite crappy photos.

Thanks to boss for supper.. :)

The company did provide a Nikon D80 with an 18-135mm lens and I used it to take some good shots, but the camera is still with the company, going through processing because technically I cant take the photos of the event that was carried out. I'm just hoping that I can get my photos when I pick up my pay.

Speaking of pay, I had the feeling that, its ok if I was not paid. Food and lodging were all accounted for, and the rooms there was sweet! Before going to Singapore, I actually was misinformed that the it was a 2 day one night stay. Thank God Kelvin called me, telling me its a 3 day event. Clearly, I wasn't clear about the details and I wasn't expecting to stay in Marina Sands. I knew the event was there, but it would be too good to be true to stay there..

It was a dream come true..

I entered the room, first by walking all the way to the end of the room, unlocking the doors to the balcony. It was the freaking sea view and I looked outside, watching hundreds of cargo ships anchoring in the seas of Singapore. It was like a freaking armada preparing for war! Such an amazing scene.. The beds were so comfortable and although there wasn't enough time to sleep, it was purely satisfying.

Kelvin turned on the television, first time being in Singapore, he wondered what do they screen in their local television. The hotel provided movies, which cost about 7 Sing. Dollars each, which also included adult movies. Well, thats Singapore for you.. haha! We ended up watching MTV..

Running the event there was, tough. Marina Sands is such a huge place, it takes you almost half an hour for you to walk from the hotel to the convention center. Whats worse is that its another 15 minute walk to get to the food court. The place was nice, but running around there isint. Im sure I have gained more calf muscles after that job. If you were a tourist, one day would not be enough for you to shop there. The management can also run more than 30 events there at the same time!

After working, we got a chance to go up to the top floor and take a look around there. The pool overlooks Singapore's sky scrapers and the breeze from the ocean was warm and comfy. It was such a great experience just to get up there. Because of the limited time, we didnt get to swim. I did plan to wake up at 6am one morning to catch its sunrise and go for a swim, but this is what happened.

6am alarm rings.. Looked outside the window, it was so dark.. Back to bed..
6.30 alarm rings.. Looked outside, still very dark.. Got back to bed..
7.15 got up, Looked outside.. It was raining.. *sigh*

But still, nothing beats being able to get up there. It's also all about the experience we gain there, the work and being able to manage your time to do what you want. Perhaps next time ill bring my camera no matter if its work or for no reason..

D-Maniac Experience in Malaysia

So actually I was just with CoEx, A.Ron and SamSaw doing some recording for their new Beatnation promo video, and I had no idea where to head to at night. CoEx had a gig in Sunway University so we, Sam, Aaron and Damien decided to be his groupies, or just to give moral support.. I seriously had no idea where I was going, I just know it was some dance event..

Well anyway, we arrived there wondering where the multipurpose hall was.. It was our first time in Sunway University and it was big, but not enough road, seriously.. We headed to the main foyer where Aaron asked this hot girl for directions. In the end, she was also part of the organising committee.. She showed us where to park and we ran to the hall, because we were quite late for sound check..

I entered the hall hoping for a crowd, because I usually have a thinking that events should be, Big.. However, there were less than a hundred people there, it was really a small event, but that was no problem at all..

CoEx opened the stage with his "mouthblowing" beats, throwing dancers off their chairs and hitting the grooves.. Beatbox and Dance, what od they have in common? Well dancers dont dance because they like it, its because dance, is them.. Same goes for beaboxing, but in their own way..

Soon, dancers from Thailand began to take over the stage, showing their moves, keeping to the beat..

And soon, they opened up the dance floor and everyone just got crazy! It was great to see, though a small group of people, but its a cluster of people who are determined in what they live for, spirited and enthusiastic.. Yesterday's event was so hyped up, even I myself cant dance but the event got me moving.. Everyone kept dancing, doing what they love and showing the diversity of different dance cultures..

So, I got to find out about the event.. It was called D-Maniac Experience in Malaysia.. D-Maniac is a Bangkok based Hip Hop dance crew.. If im not mistaken, they carried out a series of workshops in Sunway University.. To know more about the event or D-Maniac, check out dancedeets.com :)

Simon's Restaurant

Well among my usual group of friends, I decided to create a rule. We cannot eat in a restaurant that we have eaten in before. Most of the time, were always indecisive on where to eat. I'm always looking for an adventure, so whats an adventure if I dont explore? Sometimes I wonder that, these restaurants have been here for long already and I'm sure thousands of people have already come here, but well, Its my adventure anyway right? :)

This time we went to Simon's Place in Taipan, USJ 10.. THey serve homecooked food from 6 ringgit onwards. It is a bit expensive, but that depends on how the food is. This is what we ordered;

Yong Chow Fried Rice-RM6

Has an average taste, a bit oily but has good texture. Nice to eat with the nyonya sambal..

Nyonya Fried Rice-RM8

Looking at whats with the rice, you can expect your taste buds to go crazy.. Top is meat with sweet sauce.. This dish also has pineapples, onions, onion leaves, red chilli, dried onions and nyonya sambal.. A good sweet sour taste..

Fried Koay Teow

Has a strong sesame seed flavor.. Tasty and chewy..

Ginger Beef Cantonese Fried Noodles

From the name 'Ginger', it has a strong ginger taste.. Beef is tender, savory..

In the end, then Nyonya friend rice is the winner.. I would suggest visitors to try this dish.. :)

It's A Sarong Affair

An affair? Yes, to tell you the truth, I don't even own a sarong. But ask me, whats so great about this sarong?

Random Alphabets is a group of people who carry out random, of course with purpose, events around Kuala Lumpur to get people together. This time, they carried out Keretapi Sarong where about 500 people, Malaysian and not, has tied up their sarong to the waist to take a journey around KL via train.

With the theme, What is your Sarong story?, many carried paper showing captions of their own sarong story. So, what is my sarong story?

I was at my friends 19th Birthday at an apartment where there was a pool.. Popping a balloon of flour over my friend, who was a girl, wasn't exactly a good idea.. You know girls, they can control guys. And she sort of asked an army of guys, including my friends, to chase me and throw me into the pool.

So we ran around the whole apartment. I was surprised that I could run barefoot on tarmac, perhaps its because anything goes if your running for your life. haha!

I soon got caught, they stripped my pockets to make sure i didnt have my phone or wallet, took my glasses off and carried me to the pool. Splash! There I flew off into the pool.. We had no towels because we did not plan to go in to the pool at all.. Thank God for the birthday theme, "Kampung", some of us had sarongs. My friend offered me his sarong and that kept me warm for the night, yes, the cold windy night..

My Goals for My 9 Months Break

2 months has passed since i completed my Form 6 course and I'm still waiting for my STPM results, which is also known to be the Higher School Certificate.Results should be out by the first week of March, but that doesnt mean I will start University then too..

Public Universities in Malaysia only start in September, which gives us 9 months to do nothing or everything. I choose the latter. Post SPM holidays was regretful to me, not to mention, my high school life was partly regretful because I did not take up everything I could. I regret not joining the debate team, i regret not doing public speaking, regret this, regret that. Not having to learn such skills or abilities has caused me to miss a few kick starts in my life. I screwed my interview to be able to be part of an exchange student program. Truly regretful..

Regret is all in my mind, some do say that we should not regret because it was the past, I rather say regret helps us to learn to do better next time, and a guide to set our benchmark to improve ourselves, which is what I have already done.

Many of us who completed form 6 take this 9 months break as a time to relax, some is to gain lots of money, and there are some who actually enrolled into private colleges early to get their degree faster. Im not chasing the world with the crowd, nor wasting my time. I believe this 9 months is essential for me to improve myself physically and mentally.

My aim is to try to take up different jobs to grasp knowledge of different fields. I could end up as the Jack of all trades, masters of none. But no, having little knowledge of something is still better than nothing. These little experiences are my building blocks, and I just have to put them together properly. Of course, I will still have a main skill, but its good to know a bit of everything..

There was a time when I was in Genting Highlands and I attempted the Rock Wall. I did not complete it. It was maybe because I was afraid of heights, or afraid to take risks, afraid to push myself to discover what I can actually do. So now, I change. I want to try as much as I can. Early this year I wanted to take on the Rock Wall again, but sadly it's no more available in Genting Highlands. Perhaps I can outrun it next time, but it will remain as a memory for me to keep trying in other things, for example, Paintball..

Paintball is a really fun but painful experience. You can get bruises for months, can bleed for days and have scars for years. But why cant I take up the challenge? Why am I afraid? Because I do not want to regret again, I decide I will take up the challenge. I will be going for paintball in March and I do hope that it will be a great experience.

Some ask me, why you dont want to earn money to sustain myself. I came up with this theory. Now im still living under my parents roof, I dont have to pay for rent, no car to pay or petrol to pay. So I decide to use the little money I make from temporary part time jobs for leisure, trying new things and travelling. If I hold all my activities till I graduate from University (If I do), I dont think I will have the chance to try new and different things.. When I have a degree, my career will be fixed based on that degree. Its like having a plane ticket to Singapore, and trying to use the same ticket to go to USA, no it wont work. So this is the time I try different jobs, no matter how the pay is.

Recently, I worked in a call center for about a month, which I stopped to work full time doing a production business with a friend, where I make videos and get paid for it. Soon I hope to try to take on F&B and sales in Machines. I'm hoping to also join another friend of mine to help his uncles business by being a photographer.

At the same time, I also am brushing up my guitar by playing for church. I started doing push ups daily at home, going for jogs and also started dance classes. I am also starting to learn mandarin from my friends, which I find essential because the Chinese language is the most spoken language in the world, followed by English. Oh, and I'm reading more these days.. :)

I am hoping that these 9 months of learning will be very fruitful to me. I hope many others also make good time of their breaks.

Degradement of our Future Generation

Today in the local newspaper, they mentioned about how smart phones and tablets have begun to widen the communication gaps in our society. I totally agree about it because from what I observe, they are all not exactly enjoying themselves nor feeling happy. Firstly, I am thankful to be in a group of friends who know how to prioritise and put a fine line between socialising for real and socialising virtually. We spend most of our time meeting up, going for sports, laser tag, bowling and just anything. Ask us, Angry Birds? no way..

Teenagers and young adults being glued to technology is bad, but whats worse is that children aged from 4 to 12 years old have already become addicted to such virtual realities. With no doubt, you can see at least a kid holding an iPad 2 or a Galaxy Tab in a restaurant, sometimes each kid in that family has one, and none communicate with each other. Firstly, the effect is that the family relationship can be broken. When the kids grow older, they can be rebellious to their parents because they don't realise the importance of family ties and treat parents like a friend or a stranger. Moral values will fade among our society as children did not get the proper guidance since young. Parents have depended too much on technology, hoping that it can take over the roles of parenting.

Speaking of parenting, maids have also become childrens new mother. I have a friend of my parents, who once told them that they regret having a maid because their own children look away from them. They prefer to get a hug from the maid and not to the people who gave birth to them.

In the future, the standard of education too may drop drastically. Many give excuses saying that these tablets are essential for learning because it's interactive, but I strongly disagree. Real education still comes from books as its information is much more dense and accurate compared to a graphic. If the children of today do not practice reading, the percentage of youths who cannot read and write in the future may increase as their minds will just be flashed with pictures and graphics that are unexplainable. Teenagers in the future will have a lower self esteem, be timid, have low self confidence and will not be able to present themselves well.

To be honest, I myself was a very timid person before. I never had enough confidence to approach someone or to talk in front of the camera and because of that, I failed in an interview to be part of an exchange student program. It was a very regretful scene and i do not want that to happen again, especially when i apply for a job or to a university. A friend of mine helped me spark my fire, to be confident in speaking in public and to start conversations with anyone, including youths and the elderly. Being able to speak to people of different age groups has helped me open up my mind to the world, finding out its differences and realising the diversity of everything in life.

Technology is essential in our life, but too much of something is never good. We always have to keep moderation in most things to have a balanced and a more rounded personality. It will be good to put that tablet down and start a real conversation with someone.

Dragon in the Sky

Every year, I would take a stroll down Jonker Street as my dad gives his offerings in the temples nearby. Jonker Street is usually the same every year, but this time, for the year of the Water Dragon, there was really a Dragon in the sky.

Basically, a balloon maker which I notice every year at Jonker Street has successfully created a floating dragon by just using balloons, and it was an amazing scene.. It swayed in the sky, being anchored by more than 5 people, roaring over the sky of Malacca..

Not to miss out, The God of Prosperity! Maybe you should drop by Jonker Street to have a photo with him, and maybe you can be more prosperous.. =)

The Genting Trip, and we didnt fall.. =P

Ever since my examinations ended, I was fully filled with energy to get out and travel, try new things or break boundaries. To tell you the truth, I never really tried taking a roller coaster in my life. It's maybe because I have a fear that I could not overcome, or i was just plain lazy. It was good to have friends with you who push you to try, supporting you, telling you that its just nothing..

In the end, I went onto a space shot and a small roller coaster and pirate ship for a start. The corkscrew was closed for maintenance so i didnt really try a much more extreme ride.

We stayed at Reuben's uncle's apartment which was an advantage for the trip. We had a 2 floor apartment which was just nice for the 8 of us. We could cook, play like no ones business and live comfortably together. We stayed at Ramin Apartments anyway, at Genting View Resort.

Its been awhile since I blogged, I hope to keep my webpage alive, filled with more adventures.. =)

Shopping for Christmas

Christmas is coming in about a week and have you done shopping for your friends or loved ones? Well Christmas is all about sharing and offering. It doesn't always have to come as objects, but spending time with your family can also be a great Christmas gift, especially those who have family members form far away or those who may not be in good terms with one another.. Its time to mend the relationship between one another and bring joy to everyone.. =)

Well anyway, my parents decided to drop by The Curve today. Do you guys remember Yang I-Deun, the skillful piano player who is a mix of Korean-Portuguese-Armenian-French? I met him again today and this time he had a special slot with Khairil, a saxophonist, and the duo was just awesome. =) He did his usual routine, playing songs that you hear on air but modifying them into a much more creative art with a piano as his paint brush, and he also included some Christmas songs to get you in that Christmas mood.. (catch him on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-1pm, 2-3pm and 3-5pm at The Curve Grand Piano)

They just love the music.. =)

The Curve also has nice Christmas decor, well doesn't every shopping mall have? Well its just that I happen to drop by here so im just gonna show you whats in The Curve.

I'll be going to KL tomorrow with my friends to check out Berjaya Times Square and Bukit Bintang for some post exam partying and Christmas shopping. Do stay tuned for more updates from me.. =)

ChromeHeart

What comes to your mind when you think of the name ChromeHeart? Well it seems to be something solid, right? At first I thought it was being cold hearted, having no feelings or just having a blunt character.

Rayan being scolded by his mom for not listening to her, but his mother has no choice to keep the secret.

This play was not about that. It portrayed the strong hearts of those who are in dilemma, and the sacrifices a person has to make to protect their love ones, or someone who is a key to the future. There is more to this play but I suggest you to go and see it for yourself. =)

This fantasy was made by the City Harvest Church KL, and this is their hardest production ever where sleepless nights were spent by the cast and those behind the scenes doing their best to project a message, bring entertainment and most importantly, doing this to praise Him. Being a fantasy, it takes more effort especially in the stage design and costumes compared to plays which setting is in daily life.

Gerai William | SS26/4

If you are looking for a place to eat that is not too fancy and tasty, you might want to key in SS26/4 into your GPS. It will lead you to a restaurant that has many tables and seats under the deep blue sky or the dark moonlight. It was once a hut around the corner, but now it has already upgraded to a shoplot, converted into a full sized kitchen for cooking a wide variety of food which you can never think of..

Gerai William or plainly, William's, offers unique dishes ranging from Asian to Western food and most of them are enhanced recipe's made by the owner, William himself.. His daughter, Charnice is a friend of mine and she took some of us there for dinner.. We have always heard so much about her dad's restaurant but never got the chance to try it. However, the wait wasn't long as we dashed into the restaurant last night..

The restaurant is usually full every night..

Cozy it was as we sat in the open together in the cool breezy night. Technically, there is no indoor seating as the whole shoplot is a kitchen as said above. Customers actually have the freedom to walk into the kitchen to check out what happens behind the scenes. With that, we can see the cleanliness of the kitchen and good handling of food there by the cooks.. I was so glad that the restaurant actually had no flies around, and that I can enjoy my meal in peace without swinging my hand everywhere.

Above all, the food was pure delight.. I am not exaggerating but I am being frank here.. The restaurant is so famous that no menu is needed and most people already know what to order when they get seated. If you are new to that place, feel free to enter the kitchen to choose any food you like from a large chalk board menu.. Among the food that we ordered were..

seafood risotto-rm40

The seafood risotto had muscles, clamps, salmon, squid, prawns and bamboo clams, served with cheese..

premium penuh- rm50

premium penuh (red meat platter).. various meats from lamb to beef, sausage, minced meat, chicken wings and mashed potato..

gouda cheese naan- rm8

gouda cheese naan is basically the famous indian dish, naan with cheese.. its served with caramel sauce, chocolate, condensed milk or butter..

nasi goreng ketam- rm25

nasi goreng chicken chop- rm 15

french fries

freshly cut potatoes deep fried till crispy

Not to forget the mouth watering deserts made by Esther;

panna cotta- rm 12

chocolate torte- rm8 (personal favorite =D)

gelato and cream puffs- rm 12

big drinks- rm 7

You may find the texture of the meat just about average, but what makes the food good here is because of its taste.. No preservatives or msg are used and the recipes are made by the owner himself.. This big time family business brings you home cooked food at the streets of Petaling Jaya.. Do try it for yourself if you havent.. =)

If you also drop by William's, don't forget to stop by Bam Bam Closet too.. Its a store run by Esther, the lady who made the delightful desserts, and she sells a lot of known perfumes for a cheaper price.. These products are basically rejected from the original company, having small or minor damages, just because those companies have a high standard in quality.. So if you are looking for branded perfumes or make up at a cheaper price, don't forget to drop by the closet which is just right beside William's..

So, do bring your friends along because the dishes are big and theyre good for sharing.. =) tee hee.. =P
