My Goals for My 9 Months Break

2 months has passed since i completed my Form 6 course and I'm still waiting for my STPM results, which is also known to be the Higher School Certificate.Results should be out by the first week of March, but that doesnt mean I will start University then too..

Public Universities in Malaysia only start in September, which gives us 9 months to do nothing or everything. I choose the latter. Post SPM holidays was regretful to me, not to mention, my high school life was partly regretful because I did not take up everything I could. I regret not joining the debate team, i regret not doing public speaking, regret this, regret that. Not having to learn such skills or abilities has caused me to miss a few kick starts in my life. I screwed my interview to be able to be part of an exchange student program. Truly regretful..

Regret is all in my mind, some do say that we should not regret because it was the past, I rather say regret helps us to learn to do better next time, and a guide to set our benchmark to improve ourselves, which is what I have already done.

Many of us who completed form 6 take this 9 months break as a time to relax, some is to gain lots of money, and there are some who actually enrolled into private colleges early to get their degree faster. Im not chasing the world with the crowd, nor wasting my time. I believe this 9 months is essential for me to improve myself physically and mentally.

My aim is to try to take up different jobs to grasp knowledge of different fields. I could end up as the Jack of all trades, masters of none. But no, having little knowledge of something is still better than nothing. These little experiences are my building blocks, and I just have to put them together properly. Of course, I will still have a main skill, but its good to know a bit of everything..

There was a time when I was in Genting Highlands and I attempted the Rock Wall. I did not complete it. It was maybe because I was afraid of heights, or afraid to take risks, afraid to push myself to discover what I can actually do. So now, I change. I want to try as much as I can. Early this year I wanted to take on the Rock Wall again, but sadly it's no more available in Genting Highlands. Perhaps I can outrun it next time, but it will remain as a memory for me to keep trying in other things, for example, Paintball..

Paintball is a really fun but painful experience. You can get bruises for months, can bleed for days and have scars for years. But why cant I take up the challenge? Why am I afraid? Because I do not want to regret again, I decide I will take up the challenge. I will be going for paintball in March and I do hope that it will be a great experience.

Some ask me, why you dont want to earn money to sustain myself. I came up with this theory. Now im still living under my parents roof, I dont have to pay for rent, no car to pay or petrol to pay. So I decide to use the little money I make from temporary part time jobs for leisure, trying new things and travelling. If I hold all my activities till I graduate from University (If I do), I dont think I will have the chance to try new and different things.. When I have a degree, my career will be fixed based on that degree. Its like having a plane ticket to Singapore, and trying to use the same ticket to go to USA, no it wont work. So this is the time I try different jobs, no matter how the pay is.

Recently, I worked in a call center for about a month, which I stopped to work full time doing a production business with a friend, where I make videos and get paid for it. Soon I hope to try to take on F&B and sales in Machines. I'm hoping to also join another friend of mine to help his uncles business by being a photographer.

At the same time, I also am brushing up my guitar by playing for church. I started doing push ups daily at home, going for jogs and also started dance classes. I am also starting to learn mandarin from my friends, which I find essential because the Chinese language is the most spoken language in the world, followed by English. Oh, and I'm reading more these days.. :)

I am hoping that these 9 months of learning will be very fruitful to me. I hope many others also make good time of their breaks.

Degradement of our Future Generation

Today in the local newspaper, they mentioned about how smart phones and tablets have begun to widen the communication gaps in our society. I totally agree about it because from what I observe, they are all not exactly enjoying themselves nor feeling happy. Firstly, I am thankful to be in a group of friends who know how to prioritise and put a fine line between socialising for real and socialising virtually. We spend most of our time meeting up, going for sports, laser tag, bowling and just anything. Ask us, Angry Birds? no way..

Teenagers and young adults being glued to technology is bad, but whats worse is that children aged from 4 to 12 years old have already become addicted to such virtual realities. With no doubt, you can see at least a kid holding an iPad 2 or a Galaxy Tab in a restaurant, sometimes each kid in that family has one, and none communicate with each other. Firstly, the effect is that the family relationship can be broken. When the kids grow older, they can be rebellious to their parents because they don't realise the importance of family ties and treat parents like a friend or a stranger. Moral values will fade among our society as children did not get the proper guidance since young. Parents have depended too much on technology, hoping that it can take over the roles of parenting.

Speaking of parenting, maids have also become childrens new mother. I have a friend of my parents, who once told them that they regret having a maid because their own children look away from them. They prefer to get a hug from the maid and not to the people who gave birth to them.

In the future, the standard of education too may drop drastically. Many give excuses saying that these tablets are essential for learning because it's interactive, but I strongly disagree. Real education still comes from books as its information is much more dense and accurate compared to a graphic. If the children of today do not practice reading, the percentage of youths who cannot read and write in the future may increase as their minds will just be flashed with pictures and graphics that are unexplainable. Teenagers in the future will have a lower self esteem, be timid, have low self confidence and will not be able to present themselves well.

To be honest, I myself was a very timid person before. I never had enough confidence to approach someone or to talk in front of the camera and because of that, I failed in an interview to be part of an exchange student program. It was a very regretful scene and i do not want that to happen again, especially when i apply for a job or to a university. A friend of mine helped me spark my fire, to be confident in speaking in public and to start conversations with anyone, including youths and the elderly. Being able to speak to people of different age groups has helped me open up my mind to the world, finding out its differences and realising the diversity of everything in life.

Technology is essential in our life, but too much of something is never good. We always have to keep moderation in most things to have a balanced and a more rounded personality. It will be good to put that tablet down and start a real conversation with someone.

Dragon in the Sky

Every year, I would take a stroll down Jonker Street as my dad gives his offerings in the temples nearby. Jonker Street is usually the same every year, but this time, for the year of the Water Dragon, there was really a Dragon in the sky.

Basically, a balloon maker which I notice every year at Jonker Street has successfully created a floating dragon by just using balloons, and it was an amazing scene.. It swayed in the sky, being anchored by more than 5 people, roaring over the sky of Malacca..

Not to miss out, The God of Prosperity! Maybe you should drop by Jonker Street to have a photo with him, and maybe you can be more prosperous.. =)

The Genting Trip, and we didnt fall.. =P

Ever since my examinations ended, I was fully filled with energy to get out and travel, try new things or break boundaries. To tell you the truth, I never really tried taking a roller coaster in my life. It's maybe because I have a fear that I could not overcome, or i was just plain lazy. It was good to have friends with you who push you to try, supporting you, telling you that its just nothing..

In the end, I went onto a space shot and a small roller coaster and pirate ship for a start. The corkscrew was closed for maintenance so i didnt really try a much more extreme ride.

We stayed at Reuben's uncle's apartment which was an advantage for the trip. We had a 2 floor apartment which was just nice for the 8 of us. We could cook, play like no ones business and live comfortably together. We stayed at Ramin Apartments anyway, at Genting View Resort.

Its been awhile since I blogged, I hope to keep my webpage alive, filled with more adventures.. =)

Shopping for Christmas

Christmas is coming in about a week and have you done shopping for your friends or loved ones? Well Christmas is all about sharing and offering. It doesn't always have to come as objects, but spending time with your family can also be a great Christmas gift, especially those who have family members form far away or those who may not be in good terms with one another.. Its time to mend the relationship between one another and bring joy to everyone.. =)

Well anyway, my parents decided to drop by The Curve today. Do you guys remember Yang I-Deun, the skillful piano player who is a mix of Korean-Portuguese-Armenian-French? I met him again today and this time he had a special slot with Khairil, a saxophonist, and the duo was just awesome. =) He did his usual routine, playing songs that you hear on air but modifying them into a much more creative art with a piano as his paint brush, and he also included some Christmas songs to get you in that Christmas mood.. (catch him on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-1pm, 2-3pm and 3-5pm at The Curve Grand Piano)

They just love the music.. =)

The Curve also has nice Christmas decor, well doesn't every shopping mall have? Well its just that I happen to drop by here so im just gonna show you whats in The Curve.

I'll be going to KL tomorrow with my friends to check out Berjaya Times Square and Bukit Bintang for some post exam partying and Christmas shopping. Do stay tuned for more updates from me.. =)

ChromeHeart

What comes to your mind when you think of the name ChromeHeart? Well it seems to be something solid, right? At first I thought it was being cold hearted, having no feelings or just having a blunt character.

Rayan being scolded by his mom for not listening to her, but his mother has no choice to keep the secret.

This play was not about that. It portrayed the strong hearts of those who are in dilemma, and the sacrifices a person has to make to protect their love ones, or someone who is a key to the future. There is more to this play but I suggest you to go and see it for yourself. =)

This fantasy was made by the City Harvest Church KL, and this is their hardest production ever where sleepless nights were spent by the cast and those behind the scenes doing their best to project a message, bring entertainment and most importantly, doing this to praise Him. Being a fantasy, it takes more effort especially in the stage design and costumes compared to plays which setting is in daily life.

If you are looking for a place to eat that is not too fancy and tasty, you might want to key in SS26/4 into your GPS. It will lead you to a restaurant that has many tables and seats under the deep blue sky or the dark moonlight. It was once a hut around the corner, but now it has already upgraded to a shoplot, converted into a full sized kitchen for cooking a wide variety of food which you can never think of..

Gerai William or plainly, William's, offers unique dishes ranging from Asian to Western food and most of them are enhanced recipe's made by the owner, William himself.. His daughter, Charnice is a friend of mine and she took some of us there for dinner.. We have always heard so much about her dad's restaurant but never got the chance to try it. However, the wait wasn't long as we dashed into the restaurant last night..

Cozy it was as we sat in the open together in the cool breezy night. Technically, there is no indoor seating as the whole shoplot is a kitchen as said above. Customers actually have the freedom to walk into the kitchen to check out what happens behind the scenes. With that, we can see the cleanliness of the kitchen and good handling of food there by the cooks.. I was so glad that the restaurant actually had no flies around, and that I can enjoy my meal in peace without swinging my hand everywhere.

Above all, the food was pure delight.. I am not exaggerating but I am being frank here.. The restaurant is so famous that no menu is needed and most people already know what to order when they get seated. If you are new to that place, feel free to enter the kitchen to choose any food you like from a large chalk board menu.. Among the food that we ordered were..

seafood risotto-rm40

The seafood risotto had muscles, clamps, salmon, squid, prawns and bamboo clams, served with cheese..

premium penuh- rm50

premium penuh (red meat platter).. various meats from lamb to beef, sausage, minced meat, chicken wings and mashed potato..

gouda cheese naan- rm8

gouda cheese naan is basically the famous indian dish, naan with cheese.. its served with caramel sauce, chocolate, condensed milk or butter..

nasi goreng ketam- rm25

nasi goreng chicken chop- rm 15

french fries

freshly cut potatoes deep fried till crispy

Not to forget the mouth watering deserts made by Esther;

panna cotta- rm 12

chocolate torte- rm8 (personal favorite =D)

big drinks- rm 7

You may find the texture of the meat just about average, but what makes the food good here is because of its taste.. No preservatives or msg are used and the recipes are made by the owner himself.. This big time family business brings you home cooked food at the streets of Petaling Jaya.. Do try it for yourself if you havent.. =)

If you also drop by William's, don't forget to stop by Bam Bam Closet too.. Its a store run by Esther, the lady who made the delightful desserts, and she sells a lot of known perfumes for a cheaper price.. These products are basically rejected from the original company, having small or minor damages, just because those companies have a high standard in quality.. So if you are looking for branded perfumes or make up at a cheaper price, don't forget to drop by the closet which is just right beside William's..

So, do bring your friends along because the dishes are big and theyre good for sharing.. =) tee hee.. =P

Facebook Video Call

Recently Facebook has launched their new plugin which is the Facebook video call.. In cooperation with Skype, Facebook can now do video calls on the computer without opening any other applications..

Before you can do any video call, you have to first download the plugin and install it into your computer.. Go to http://www.facebook.com/videocalling and click "Get Started". Your plugin will be downloaded and installed into your computer.. After that, you are ready to make your video call..

Video call quality depends on type of webcam and internet performance.. By the way, if your friend doesn't pick up, you can leave a video message for him.. now that's something!

1 Murid 1 Sukan 1 Malaysia | SMK Seafield

It was quite last minute when we got the info about this nationwide cross country run.. We had only about a week to register ourselves. But successfully, SMK Seafield keyed in about 1100 students participating in today's run. All public schools were to take part in the event, starting at 7.45 am sharp, every school in Malaysia will release students, parents and teachers from the starting line, going through a short run of 1.5 kilometers.

Before the ran started, we gave way to our neighboring school to run first and there was one sight that was beautiful.. There was a father carrying his daughter throughout the race..

So sweet ain't it? =3

So back to school, everyone was getting hyped for their turn to run. I do wonder why was there such a run because previously we did not have such an event. I am guessing from the name itself, 1 Malaysia and 1 Sukan, their objective is to promote unity in sports among the youth. From the birds eye view, it was quite a success..

There was also a theme song to be sung after the prize giving.. Our school sang it with full of glory.. =D

About 1100 students participated from SMK Seafield, which was the highest in USJ and if im not mistaken, the whole Subang Jaya too.. Anyway, my school will be having their carnival on the 17th of July so do drop by.. =D

Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon Gala Premier

I was among the many first who were able to watch Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon as soon as it was launched in Malaysia. Last Tuesday, many gathered in front of Golden Screen Cinemas, awaiting to set their eyes on famous Transformers characters at about 9pm.. However, they didn't have to wait for the movie as there were models posing as Optimus Prime and Bumblebee already! Hot Stuff!

Together with them were Serena C and Pietro from Mix.fm, being the emcee's of the premier. You can see Pietro trying to put on an Optimus Prime mask, but it just wouldn't fit.. =P

Many other local celebrities also came down the red carpet wanting to see the movie by Michael Bay.. Many also couldn't wait to see the new actress, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who was acting as Carly as Sam Witwicky's (Shia Labeouf) new love.. I do not want to be a spoiler so check out the movie yourselves at Golden Screen Cinemas.. =)

We had professional beat boxers giving the crowd a warm up before the movie.. A.RON and SamSaw from SMK Seafield pumped the crowd with special effects that were 100% vocals.. The most anticipated skill of theirs was the Transformers Autobots Roll Out sound effects.. Here's a sneak preview of their performance.

Step Up for Kids! | SMK Seafield Interact Charity Sale

Many of us live different lives. No matter how near or far we live from each other, everyone is different. We may go through good and bad times, and we really break down in harsh moments. But there are people in this world, especially children, who never had good times to experience or even to think about.

The Interact Club of SMK Seafield is currently running a charity sale in Subang Parade (click on link to view event page on Facebook). Their main purpose is to raise funds to put up a children's corner at the Pediatric Center of the Sungai Buluh General Hospital. The children here face chronic diseases and are confined in the hospital with no equipment or tools for learning. They spend every day looking out of the window, lying on the bed and basically just being unproductive.

The Interact Club of SMK Seafield aims to improve their lifestyle with the children's corner. It will be equipped with a television which will play educational videos for the children to watch. If they receive a large amount of donations, a Nintendo Wii will be bought for them so that they can play with interactive medias which is crucial for their brain development.

This is an example of a software run by Wii to enhance the creativity of children.

These children may not have the freedom to go under the sun to sweat it out.. With proper training, they can exercise indoors.. Exercising is also important for the children to build their immunity system.

The Club also will be setting up a mini library for them to read books and also floor mats to prevent injuries from happening.

It all seems to be such big dreams and big plans but without your donations, the dreams of the Club will not come true and the future of these kids would not be filled with hope. Lets come together hand in hand to support this good cause.

You can take the KTM Commuter Train to Subang Jaya Station and you will already be at Subang Parade. You can also take RapidKL U67 or Metrobus 13 to this shopping mall.

So basically, what are they selling? They are making Hama Beads and turning them into keychains, rings, notebooks and phone straps. There are a wide variety of designs ranging from Angry Birds to Disney characters to bugs and footballs. You can also customize your own name or design! All these items range from RM2 to RM10 and yes, all profits will be used for the funding of the children's center.

Guangzhou Trip | Pearl River Nightlights | Landmark Hotel

My family stayed in Landmark Hotel which is situated beside the Pearl River in Guangzhou. At night, you can see the whole river lit up and also the buildings along it. Being on the 33rd floor of the hotel and having a nice view of the city and Canton Tower, I decided to take a few long shutter photographs.

My camera was set to a tripod and my 500D has a maximum shutter speed of 30 seconds. At ISO 100, these is one of the products..

By using the original photo, I could zoom digitally all the way to the top of the tower at a fairly good sharpness.. By the way, my hotel ain't near the Canton Tower.. The image was zoomed at about 200mm..

After shopping around Guangzhou the next day, I bought myself a wired shutter remote for about RM 15.. With this tool, I have no more limitations to my long shutter speeds..

Bulb Lock..

With that and my tripod, I did 3 to 5 minute shutters.. This is the result..

Whoops, City Lights went out at about 10.30pm.. Canton Tower goes off at 11pm..

If you can, do go to open rooftops. There is too much light in the city which reflects onto the hotel window..

Besides the good view, I had a good comfy room too..

Guangzhou Trip | Shamian Island HDR Photography

So we took the local metro railway to Huangsha Station (黄沙站) and from there, we walked to Shamian Island. Its a small sandbark island with many historical buildings including those built by the British, if I'm not mistaken..

Anyway, I'ts a very nice place to take photos as the old buildings and the tree shaded park gives a historical atmosphere.. There, many people carry out leisure activities such as badminton or just hanging out with friends. Overall, It's a nice place to take photos too.. Here are a few HDR shots that I did..

Guangzhou Trip | Fast Food

Around the world, we would usually see McDonalds or KFC anywhere. You may call those restaurants iconic, but ironically, this man who is an icon, makes this fast food (not fat food) restaurant known..

Well not because they have Bruce Lee as their icon, but Kungfu fast food also serves good and tasty Chinese food.. The fast food chainstore has food already prepared for you to eat, just like McDonalds where your burgers are already ready.

They serve rice, a large variety of pork and vegetables too.

I ordered minced pork.. It was good.. =) The pork ribs were good too..

Actually, most of the restaurants in Guangzhou are just like the Chinese food here in Malaysia. Our food is just as authentic as theirs.. But this restaurant, is just different..

Guangzhou Trip | Amusing Advertisement

Sweating it Out!

I have not done any sports or exercise for awhile and i feel so unhealthy.. Since Sunday, my friends were planning to go play basketball in the morning, which we finally did on Wednesday and there were only 4 of us.. That was including Adrian who came after he sent his sister to school.

It was 7.30 this morning where i got up to get some Milo.. I then received a message from Soo Yin, asking if i wanted to play basketball at that moment itself.. I was lying on my bed, contemplating whether I shall go play basketball, or rest for my badminton game at 10am..

So I had a thought, why not I go and play basketball for a warm up..

So off my bed and out to court I went. Aivee and Soo Yin were already doing some shots as I jogged into the court.. We soon had a free match with a few random guys there. We didnt even count the score but it was a fair game, though challenging..

The time was 8.20 when i headed back home for a shower and grabbed some Oreos from the nearby 7-11 store.. Technically, that was my breakfast.. Wai Yip picked me up soon after and we met up with Reuben at school.. At that moment, there was a heavy downpour..

We played badminton at an arena around USJ 21.. there were many badminton courts there, and i think there were more than 20 of them.. We paid RM8 for an hour there, which was full of sweat and flashes, as my camera kept taking photos of them..

Water Droplets Again, but better

I previously did attempt to capture water droplets with a compact camera and this was the result.. (taken by a Pentax Optio A30)

But thanks to my new Canon 500D (Rebel T1i) and extra equipment from my brother, I was able to make it look better..

I'm hoping to make better photographs soon, but also at the same time, do well in my studies.. Wish me luck..

Stumble Upon

Hey! It's been awhile since I blogged, but I'm still active on Facebook and Twitter, posting photographs and updates. Anyway, I am here to inform you guys that I have just received my DSLR! =D It was actually bought by my brother in USA so he got it cheaper there. You can see my kit at the Geavity section on the top left corner of my blog..

It's not the latest DSLR camera in the market but it's still a very good camera.. It was reviewed as the camera that can do anything since it can fit any EF or EF-S lenses by Canon and it has the capability of shooting full HD videos. I'll call it, the all rounder..

So, I was around the Curve yesterday for a movie and I stumbled upon this piano player. At first, I did not notice him till I saw a crowd of people pushing through to watch him play. I managed to get through to take a video and a few photos of him.

He was a nice guy. After his performance, he spent about 45 minutes having a chat with me. He, Yang I-Deun, is a mix of Korean-Portuguese-Armenian-French (Yes, he has a mix of 4 different races), grew up in Kuala Lumpur and lived most of his life traveling from KL to Singapore with his family. He started playing the piano since he was 6 years old.

At first, he did not have any interest in the piano. His parents sent him for piano lessons since then. It wasn't by interest, neither by force. He claimed that learning piano was much better than doing house chores. He plays most piano styles, including Pop and Romance. He plays in malls around Klang Valley..

Most Epic Planned Photo I Took

This photo was made for a competition.. So I thought of doing something crazy.. Storyline, were doing our Form 6 course and its really hard. We face STPM which is known to be one of the top 3 hardest examinations in the world. So I wanted illustrate the stress and pressure that we feel while studying and going through it.. It makes us feel as if, the world just wants to crash down onto us.

Anyway, do not fear Form 6 if you plan to take it up.. There are lots of things which I learnt (or maybe that I changed) here. Just study constantly and you will get through, as our parents did in the past.. =)
