Don't hesitate to fine tune them in Photoshop before using them in your app.
Some might prefer to tweak the padding markers to fit your need.

Hi All,

The android 9 patch viewer received a revamp today.

Here is a list of changes:

42 new 9 patch images! Available through the app only.
Sharing feature now preserves complete file name!
Sharing feature also preserves scale and padding markers!

The new addition requires access to SDCard so the temporary files could be added as attachment to email and other apps.

This is why write external permission is required.

New Features required duplication of files assets. Sorry for the inconvenient APK file size increase.

Just a quick update here guys.

I am currently trying to find a way so the viewer sharing feature will send the original 9-patch images including the scale and padding markers.

For some reason, when emailing the images, the app processes them and removes the markers.

I'll keep you posted on this update.

For now, you will need to redo the markers before adding them to your project.

Pack 24! - Some buttons with highlighted corners

I made a new pack tonight. They are white buttons with an highlighted corner. I originally saw this design on a website somewhere and reproduced it here as 9 patches.
The first 4 are the following states:

normal,
normal focused,
disabled
disabled focused

Followed by various pressed colors.

The viewer should be updated shortly to V1.00.17.

A minor issue was reported by 2 users this weekend with the Layout View mode.
I am currently working on a fix for that problem and should be updating the app this week.

I have received 2 request to add some sort of categories to the images in the app.
Since the number of patches is closing on one thousand, I will have to start thinking of a way to do just so.

My next effort regarding the android 9 patch viewer app will be to add filters and categories.

The collection was just a bunch of files previously, but now will need to get some organisation which was not part of the original design.

This will require quite some rework of the current code, so be patient.

Hi all,

I have posted an update on the 9 patch viewer yesterday.

It contains additions proposed by one of the users so it should please you all.

The Grid View mode really works well on all devices, but the even better on large tablets.

I have some more 9 patch in the work, so hopefully I can post new patches this month or next month.

Simplifying the android 9 patch viewer

Hi All,

I was reading the latest comment on the android 9 patch viewer app and would love to hear suggestion on how to fix the problem.

The viewer has been just a repository of images so far, without using any sort of categories.

As the number of files grow, the browsing becomes harder. What makes things even more complicated is that there is no meta-data associated with the 900 images.

I'm open to suggestions here, so please offer a simple way to add category without having to rework the entire set of images too much.

The last update with 9 patch images was made exclusive to the android app.

Version 1.00.11 now available on the market.

Android 9 patch - pack 22 - more buttons with 5 states and 19 hues!

Hi all.

Another group of buttons with 5 states here. They are exported with 19 different hues.
These include the following states:

normal,
normal focused,
normal focused pressed,
disable
disabled focused.

They seem to be working better when applied on a neutral background or a background with similar colors.

The focused states won't work great on large areas, the scale markers are slightly too long.
But this can be fixed easily with the 9-patch tool, Photoshop or gimp.

I had a good laugh this morning when reading the android forums.

A user found this member function inside the class ActivityManager.

static boolean isUserAMonkey()
Returns "true" if the user interface is currently being messed with by a monkey.

I'd like to this opportunity to say a big thanks to the people that purchased the android 9 patch viewer app.
Really appreciate the support!

I am offering here more buttons, including the following states:

normal,
normal focused,
normal focused pressed,
disable
disabled focused.

This time, I am coming back with all 19 regular hues.

The application is now packed with 714 images 9-patch! Update to the app will come later tonight.

Note: Don't get fooled by their appearance. They work great with any size and will scale very nicely. Don't hesitate to use them for background also. They don't need to be buttons only!!!

Should work well with your button selector xml files.

The first image here is a filler. It's a glossy looking 9-patch.
