GREAT PHONE

I wanted a cell phone with 8 megpix, and didn't want the data plan.This phone does every thing that the motorola X and other androids. Plus it has two lens, front and back...Does not come with a U.S. A.C.or D.C. plug,which you can pick up at the flea mart.

Good phone but....

I love the phone. Everything works great. Great battery life. There are 2 problems with the phone. I am unable to connect to the internet not even WIFI and I cannot send nor receive MMS.

great phone

it is a great phone! I purchased this phone in June to take overseas and I did it worked fine the screen never freezes very clear , the camera is excellent and the video is wonderful very nice and clear sound. I have an iphone also the Lg was comparable to the iphone and even better.I am still learning how to make movie, the catalog did not list the instruction other than that it is very easy to operate. I loved it.

Description is a lie

I've never written a negative review for either amazon or ebay, but this deserves it. The description clearly states this phone is UNLOCKED. It is not. It is locked and you need to purchase an unlock code to use the phone. To describe the phone as unlocked and then list at&t and t-mobile as carriers this phone will automatically work with is a flat LIE. Amazon should not let OEM shop sell this with that description.

DON'T BUY, IT IS NOT UNLOCKED!!! Didn't work with T-Mobile, even though it said it would in the ad!

If you read the ad for this item, it says in both the headline and description that it is "Unlocked". Then if you read on, it says that it is unlocked and will work with AT&T and T-Mobile. I figured this was the perfect solution, since I wanted an Android phone, to ride out the remaining 4 months on my T-Mobile contract. The phone arrived, i put in my sim card, put in the battery, turned it on, and immediately it said "Network Locked" on the screen. This means the phone is not "Unlocked" as advertised, and requires an unlock code to be purchased from a website. Those codes ranged anywhere from $25-40 on the sites I checked. Then after you purchase the code, most sites take an additional 36-48 hours to email you the code. If the phone is advertised as unlocked, you shouldn't have to pay an additional cost just to make it work with a carrier listed as ok for this phone. In fact, this is a definite euro phone. The charger for the phone as a euro end on it, which has to be plugged into a US converter, and then into the wall. Again, just annoying. Don't waste your time or money on this phone, it will just irritate you. I sent mine back within an hour of getting it from UPS. Spend the extra 25-40 bucks it will cost you to unlock it, and get a better phone. I'd give this negative stars if it would let me. Thumbs down.

Smart enough

PROS:

The phone does everything desired: Unlocked, quad band, wi-fi, bluetooth, 3G, syncs with google, takes photos, plays music, videos, games...etc. I bought it mainly for using SIMs for prepaid accounts both in US and abroad, and a bit of surfing/emailing when wi-fi is available.

CONS:

Screen contrast is hard to see outside, but I haven't looked to see if there is a setting for that. Not a deal breaker.

Unfortunately, it's LG and difficult to get an update to Android 2.1 while in States, so 1.6 will have to do for most of us....LG has yet to work out all the red-tape kinks, and the phone isn't technically supported in USA. So US residents will have a hard time figuring out how to use the USB cable for anything other than charging, like getting a PC computer to communicate with the SD card (Maybe Linux and Apple users are having an easier time with it?) And it didn't come with a CD or even link to download software for syncing it to your computer...

If only LG would realize that their products are being sold in US and lobby a bit harder for allowing full support, regardless of the networks and software developers...

Also, because it's only OS 1.6 (Donut), you aren't permitted to use the SD card for executable apps (i.e. expand your phones internal memory), and can only use it for storage and playback, and file/app backups.

Note that I've quickly discovered that an internal 200 MB doesn't get you very far...but that was my shortsightedness -- I hadn't planned on overloading it with apps.

RECOMMENDATION? The phone itself works great. However, some of the smart device tasks that should be easy (OS updating, accessing SD card, transferring files to and from) might be a bit challenging for most, especially if live LG support is missing. I'd suggest going to the LG website first and seeing if you can select the model in your country's list of available/supported phones...if so, chances are you'll have access to all the tools and fewer problems. If it isn't, then I suggest finding a model that is supported.

Very good phone for the price

A very good phone for this price.

These are what i found out... and not sure if these will be the points you would consider to choose a phone

Pros :

1. Good user interface.Its fast and easy

2. Supports Wifi and 3G

3. Has touch key pad (not physical) in both landscape and potrait mode.

4. Supports java applications/games

5. Good camera

6. For that price ,you wont find a lot of phones giving these features.

7. Good sound capability

Con :

1. LG has a app store, but this phone is conisdered as a non us phone. So people who buy it in US will not be able to make use of online LG app store. (This phone works perfectly fine whether you are US or not- its just the online site which we cant take advantage of)

2. Camera tough impressive in day light ,not really good for dim light, inspite of 8 MP and flash.

3. GPS is assisted GPS ,so you need wifi or 3g to use its GPS properly.

Its a good phone if you dont want to spent a lot of money on iphone.All we need basically is available in this phone like Internet,music,photo etc etc.It a good valu for money and happy with this. one more thing its sleek and cool from style perspective.

Worst phone I have ever had

Good phone, lousy user guide, dissappointed price guarantee policy

I bought this LG GC900 Viewty Smart phone over 1 month ago. The phone functionality is working fine, from previous phones, this viewty is quite nice, intelligent and the touch screen features makes and made my life a lot easier. I am disappointed with LG's User Guide, still missing instructions in how to do things, but the worst part is that I called LG to get more details on the usage and did not receive any support because this LG GC900 is an international phone. LG convenience with limited commitment to the customer is to sell this phone in the U.S., receives US dollars, but as far as support you are on your own. LG really sucks.

My second disappointment was with the reseller N1 Wireless, at first the price was excellent and unbeatable, 2 days after ordering my phone, the price was reduced by $25.00. I called to receive the discounted price based on their price guarantee policy, but I was told that I would not received the $25.00, but only $5.00 discount. No reasons, even after I read their own price guarantee policy. My phone had not left their warehouse, but it didn't matter. So the bottom line is a nice phone, no support from LG and a reseller who does not guarantee their own price policy. This reseller was recommended by Amazon.com

Beautiful Phone with One Caveat

I just bought this phone (in Germany) a few days ago and would have paid less for it on Amazon. It has a gorgeous, very bright and high resolution display - so bright that I have kept it set at minimum brightness. I tested it outside today, under a partially cloudy sky - and I could clearly read the display when it was set to maximum brightness!! LG has done a surprisingly good job of customizing Android (2.2.2 for now) on it. Info on the internet indicates that LG will release Gingerbread for it in SEP 11 for those concerned about 2.3 and higher. It has lots of extra widgets and apps - like battery and cellular data usage - that you would normally have to get from the market. Excellent battery life despite the bright display - it's kinda early to tell but I've gotten two full days with normal usage. Cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity are also great - and no sound problems or dropped calls. I have two concerns with it though. First, the main part of the phone is very well built but the battery cover is too thin in my opinion - the phone itself doesn't creak or bend but it sure seems as if the back/battery cover won't take much abuse. That being said, the phone does feel solid with the battery cover locked in place. And, related to this, the battery cover is also tricky to remove so this isn't a phone that you would want to frequently swap the chips in. Last but not least, the included Euro charger is huge and it looks pure Stone Age - shame on you LG!! ***** Edited to add a couple more points: This is a small thing but a big plus in my opinion: LG modified Android to allow screen captures on the P970! All you have to do - kind of like on the iPhone - is press home and power at the same time and the screen is captured. Also - after two full days of moderate usage (easy to track battery usage in Android) it was at 42% battery remaining.

Great phone!

I've been using my LG 970 Optimus Black for two months now and I simply love it! I bought it unlocked for use in Uruguay, South America. It's light and slim, very comfortable to handle and use, with an awsome display, very clear and bright, even under direct sunlight, and also very responsive to the touch. Very fast on the Internet and mail. It also takes very good pictures with or without flash, with lots of settings to personalize your shots as you wish. I've downloaded many cool applications from the Android Market, most of them free or with very low cost. The only thing I'm not completely satisfied with is battery life. With a moderate use of Internet, WiFi and 3G on only during the day, it lasts less than a day. However, after installing Juicedefender Ultimate from the Android Market, it now lasts aproximately a day and a half ... not that bad. But its excellent performance and sound quality greatly compensate for this drawback.

I was surprised by the sd card that was included; ir was just 4 gb, but it's enough to start using the phone. I love the display, and think it's a great option considering the price. Highly recommended

Slow LG interface, missed/dropped calls, unreliable touchscreen

This phone was purchased back in 2009 shortly after its launch for my mom who is technologically impaired.

As I was setting up the phone for my mom, I noticed that the LG interface seemed slow. So, I contacted the company and downloaded an updated version of the software which didn't seem to improve anything. The phone comes with headphones & mic combo, charge cable, data cable (mini usb) and a tiny CD that contains the LG PC Suite software. This software is supposed to make it easier to manage the media on the phone, but it requires the phone to be synced frequently.

The touchscreen lost sensitivity after a while and the response time of the interface has become slower and slower. An old Iphone 3G running to wrong version of the IOS is a rabbit compared to this turtle. I have wiped this phone clean several times and have reinstalled the latest version of its software from the LG support site and still this phone continues to miss and/or drop calls because the the touchscreen/phone takes too long to respond/wake up. The "pick up call" button is visible but not active unless it is in color. It is in greyscale most of the time when the call comes in and stays grey until the caller goes to voicemail/hangsup upon which it turns green (active) and you can pick up an empty call if at all.

I have been helping my mom weekly with her phone for the past 2 years. Both the original and the replacement (new not refurbished) have the same issues.

We chose this phone for her because her original Sony phone was recalled a week after she got it and this phone was the only Quad-band, Asian language compatible phone with higher quality camera available for her month-long business trip.

Overall as a phone this sucks as it can't reliably pick up calls. However as a portable mp3 player and video viewer it's really quite nice. But as we're looking for phones here and not a portable media player, my recommendation is stay away.

Beautiful Nightmare

I have purchased this phone last year for my girlfriend and ever since subjected myself to misery and constant complaints. This phone is a very stylish piece of junk, so I'll begin with listing the cons: 1) Very slow and unresponsive(very irritating) - sometimes you force yourself to tap things multiple time before it reacts, nor do you get a sense of whether it's thinking or doing anything. 2) Battery life is very poor despite the rating and the numbers shown in the spec. 3) Camera just died on me a few weeks after the purchase and now displays an error when i try to initialize a photo software, it starts working occasionally when i tap on the back of the phone (some quality there, huh?). 4) Navigation flow is deeply flawed by inconsistent navigation patterns and abilities to jump from screen to screen when you rotate the phone. 5)Internet browser sucks, it doesn't anti-alias text so it looks like cr@p. 6)There is no way to find any good software for it, no marketplace for it on the phone itself. These 6 items should be sufficient reasons not to get the phone, but I'll list what it does good anyway: 1) Video Playback is awesome. 2) Ring tones are not bad. 3)Phone Speaker is loud.

I only wish that LG could realize the flaws of it's proprietary OS and ported Android over for this otherwise capable device.

Stylish, but useless

Pros:

- very stylish phone

- good battery looking life (at least compared to my previous phones)

- loud speaker

- good quality touchsreen LCD

Cons:

- VERY buggy software (irresponsive specially when you type a text message / have to click the same button many times for it to work/ some time freezes and has to be restarted)

- low memory (with only about 150 text messages it says "memory 90% full, are you serious?? this is 2011)

- TOO MANY buttons on the phone that unlock it (if you touch power button it will unlock the phone / if you touch ring volume button for longer than 1 sec, it will unlock the phone, if you touch the screen in a specific manner, it will unlock the phone. I CONSTANTLY find myself calling or changing phone settings when I put the phone in a front jeans pocket)

I would NOT recommend buying this phone to any one. This is my first and probably the last LG phone.

Great phone but.....

This is a wonderful phone! Although, a buyer might beware before dropping the money on it.

The software and navigation of the menus located on the phone is easy. The phone possesses a decent amount of storage space plus a slot to fill a card with an increased capacity. The computer hook up and interface is simple and intuitive with very little fuss to install and operate. Calls are crystal clear and I never have much issues with the connectivity but that had more to do with my provider than the phone itself. The large screen is beautiful and has wonderful color - IF - your not in any sunlight. When outside, wearing polarized glasses or simply on a bright day the screen is difficult to see.

Looks: The phone LOOKS great and it feels and looks more expensive than it really is. The construction of the hardware itself is exceptional BUT if your rough on your equipment or you lead a busy lifestyle, this phone will be hard to maintain. A short, soft fall had the screen cracked in several places and marred the beautiful finish. Some of the nice clear cases available will help protect your purchase but then it detracts from the beautiful appearance of the phone itself.

I work in a job where I have to wear a suit one day and then cargo paints and a hiking boots the next its variable on the specific contract - If your phone sits on a desk all day (more office oriented) or is placed in a purse or backpack within a separate case, this will work great for you. If you commonly throw your phone in your pocket, jacket or a car cubby spot, (outdoors, active work) this phone is probably not the one for you. I've owned two so far. The first one was stolen and the second one destroyed. As much as I enjoyed the phone, I'm moving on to something tougher.

I received the phone on time and within my expectations. The android has exceeded all requirements and take pictures and movies in 3D is fantastic. To complete, LG said it will make the android 4.0 for this phone.

International Warranty Beware!

Purchased a different phone from Amazon.com (not through, but from!) less than 1 year ago with an "International Warranty." LG USA claims this warranty is worthless. Further, because phone is not LG USA phone, they claim to be unable to even repair it, even outside of warranty. They said "maybe" their parent company could do something and referred me to contact LG '', Seoul, Korea, but said they don't know how to even contact them. Really?!? They provided me with no contact information. Unless your Korean language ability is better than mine, you might have trouble even getting a reply. And unless Amazon is selling the exact same phone and has more in stock (?), they apparently cannot repair or replace the phone. So, unless somebody out there knows something I don't about this, DO NOT COUNT on a warranty against manufacturer defects. My phone apparently was a Canadian phone, but perhaps because it wasn't purchased from "Amazon.ca", but Amazon.com, LG Canada refuses to honor any "International warranty." It seems that an International warranty means internationally, there is NO warranty! So beware!

Not the same product as the one presented

I ordered the LG Optimus 2x, LG P990EUBR Optimus 2X Android Smartphone with 8 MP Camera, Touchscreen, Dual Core Processor and Wi-Fi - No Warranty - Dark Brown but I got T-Mobile G2x. The phone came with no cable to connect to my computer. Another phone than I expected. I contacted the seller via e-mail, hoping that it is a mistake. I have not received any response. I think the seller of bad faith, be careful. Thanks Amazon for offering me the opportunity to express my views about seller.

I only spent 20 minutes with the device then decided to return it. It is the P990-V10B , with T-Mobile 3G (900/1700/2100) not AT&T. It is a shame Amazon doesn't mention the 3G frequencies on it leaving the buyer to guess. Accompanying documents were in English/Portuguese; so I assume it was meant to be sold in Brazil or Portugal. It couldn't access the internet on AT&T; not even on 2G. Still; navigating the device seemed very responsive and speedy and I think the LG skin is not too bad.

I bought LG Optimus 2x unlocked phone from amazon.com and I am using it in Turkey without any major problem. People say this phone resets itself everyday, but mine resetted itself just 2 times in 2 months, which should be normal. The phone is very fast, camera is good, tegra chipset is good, sound is good. With gingerbread update, this machine is gonna be superior. I recommend this product from amazon.com.

LG Optimus 3D

The LG Optimus 3D is a great device. The 3d is the main selling point of the phone. In a nutshell, its a powerful but typical android device with superb 3d capabilities.

The 3d Images.

The images captured with the device look stunning on the device itself..but viewing the images on a 55inch sony 3d tv( hx 800 i think...the one best buy sold with the ps3 as a special ) is not the best. 3D images only get 3 megapixel quality ( i think LG was a bit too much into the whole triple, tri,3 ,marketing of the device ) and i don't think its worth using the device to capture images for viewing on a large screen, however the device does show 3d without the use of glasses on its own screen so thats not too much of a deal breaker.

The images look super great on the device and you will have to view them one person at a time ( to get the LG spot ).

The 3d Video

The video quality on this device is amazing!!!; both 3d and 2d video. Video quality also looks stunning on the big screen with the big glasses. I think some of the video you can capture with this device is far better than some blu ray 3d out there. The video is really outstanding. This is the best feature of the phone.

The other 3d stuff

To those who have not seen it yet..not everything on the phone is 3d. The device looks like any other until you open the 3d stuff.

Games and apps...this should really just be games. There are no 3d apps to talk about.

The games are nice in 3d but lets hope to see better in the future.

Youtube

3d videos on youtube are a great way to keep you happy.

This is the only 3d app really and its good..well any 3d video on the device is really good.

The phone aspect

Well its a phone..an android phone...with a lot of juice...but not in the battery.

When 3d is running the battery is RUNNING.

Buy or not to buy

if you like 3d video this is a must buy!

if you like 3d images on a 4.3 inch screen this is also a must buy.

if you like to show off this is a must buy.

overall the phone is an excellent buy...a great phone plus great 3d...and the 2d on the device is better than most others.

Awesome 3D screen, Great speed and YouTube 3D

The first 3D phone in the world and has finally popped up in the USA! The LG Thrill(Optimus 3D) is packing some serious power and a high quality 3D screen.

This phone should appeal to anyone that likes 3D and video games. The glasses free 3D screen looks great in 2D and 3D. It is very similar in quality to the 3DS but larger and higher resolution.

Compared to the HTC EVO 3D, the Thrill has the edge in the 3D and CPU department. Benchmark tests show the Thrill as a top performer, Everything runs fast and games are very smooth. The Thrill screen produces a good 3D image with plenty of depth and a decent viewing angle, just like the Nintendo 3DS. Good quality 3D video really pops on this screen.

LG baked in some really nice 3D features and games that the competition is lacking. The LG "3D Space" app is a really cool 3D menu that nicely organizes all of the 3D content.

Three Free 3D games (NOVA, Golf, Asphalt 6) and a 3D book are preloaded on the Thrill, along with a number of 3D movie trailers and clips. The Thrill supports more 3D games than the EVO 3D at this time with about a dozen available. The 3D games look great and have a slider that allows you to adjust the effect. Use the '3D Games' App to buy new Gameloft 3D games. Modern combat 2: Black Pegasus(FPS) and Shadow Guardian(uncharted clone) are very impressive.

2D/3D Camera does a decent job but lacks a shutter button, I hope LG will allow the 3D button to work as camera shutter button in future update.

Youtube 3D is the killer app for this device. Tons of free 3D is available on Youtube, Search 'YT3D' to view all 3D video. Check out the DuoDive channel for an eye popping underwater experience.

Gingerbread update is coming in October, along with LG's 3D game converter which will add 3D support for about 40 more games!

Bottom line: Better 3D experience than the competition. LG - Please make a glasses free tablet!

cons: bulky, 1500mah battery(larger available), 512 Ram, 2.2

Make Note: The International version I received had it's default language set as German, I switched to English after translating the first screen. The phone has no carrier branding on the device but it's from Vodafone. Have not activated it yet, using it in wifi mode until the new iPhone is revealed.

Contract Price: This phone can be bought for under $100 w/2 year contract, and as low as $449 off contract.

i got this bc of the 3d. and well. its worse 3d than the 3ds. every other vertical line goes to one eye and the screen looks choppy only in 3d. and some reason the screen gets dimmer in 3d. i guess its bc of what i stated earlier. i use 3d maybe 5% of the time. and well the 2d everything else. other than the 3d its a great phone. its fast and rly i wish i nvr got this phone. but it takes great 2d pics. not 3d. its choppy like i said. batt life is rly good. im an owner for 2 months now. the only good thing about 3d is just to show it off. you will never rly use it taking pics or play games with it. the games in 3d look like crap. i play them in 2d bc its cleaner and much brighter.
