Samsung announces Galaxy Round with curved display

The first curved display smartphone is here. Samsung today announced Galaxy Round featuring a 5.7-inch full HD Super Flexible AMOLED display. As earlier rumoured, Samsung Galaxy Round seems like variant of galaxy Galaxy Note 3 with flexible display and absence of S-Pen slot being the only differences.Samsung Galaxy Round

Samsung Galaxy Round will begin selling on Korean telecom operator SK Telecom as soon as tomorrow in luxury brown colour option for around 1 million won (around $1,000). There is no word on release elsewhere.

“Samsung has been a mobile display innovator by introducing color TFT-LCD, AMOLED, and Super AMOLED flexible display for its mobile product. With this pioneering curved display technology, GALAXY ROUND blends the latest smartphone screen innovations with unique design features,” Samsung noted in a press release.

Coming to the smartphone specifications, Samsung Galaxy Round is powered by 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor. It features 3GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 2800 mAh battery, and LTE support.Samsung Galaxy Round

Samsung has included quite a few tweaks to tap in the curved display potential and here are some of them:

Roll Effect: Enables user to check information such as date, time, missed call and battery easily when home screen is off
Gravity Effect: Creates visual interaction with the screen by tilting the device.
Bounce UX: Enables users to control their music. When the Galaxy Round’s display is off while the music player is running, a short press to the left of the device will play the previous track while a short press to the right will play the next track.
Side Mirror: Enables users to gain access to list of the album content with a left and right tilt.

XOLO Q700i goes on sale in India for INR 11,999

Just a day after we first reported about XOLO’s Q700i smartphone, it has gone on sale in the country. Available now via online retailers like Flipkart, the smartphone has been priced at INR 11,999.XOLO Q700i

The phone is an upgraded version of XOLO’s previously launched Q700 with imaging capabilities being the only difference between the two devices. XOLO Q700i comes with an upgraded 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera instead of 5MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera present on Q700.

With the availability of Q700i, XOLO now has over 15 Android smartphones in its portfolio. The company also sells an Android tablet and plans to add another in the coming days.

Celkon RahmanIshq AR45 dual-core smartphone launched at Rs. 7,999

Celkon Mobiles has launched its first AR Rahman-themed smartphone, the AR45, introduced under the RahmanIshq series for Rs. 7,999. The Oscar-winning music director was roped in to provide an exclusive ringtone.

The Celkon RahmanIshq AR45 is being promoted as a music smartphone by the company and is targeted to music lovers. It features 4.5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A7 MediaTek processor. The device runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and supports dual-SIM with dual standby.

The RahmanIshq AR45 sports a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera alongside an LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It comes with 512MB of RAM and includes 4GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. Connectivity options on the device include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/AGPS, Micro-USB and 3G. The device also includes a 2000mAh battery, though talktime and standby time figures have not been detailed by the company.

Commenting on the launch, Y Guru, Chairman and Managing Director, Celkon Mobiles, said, "Partnering with the Mozart of Madras for RahmanIshq is a noteworthy achievement for the company. We are proud to share that our customers can also enjoy the special tune composed by the veteran himself for RahmanIshq that will be used extensively for the RahmanIshq smartphones."

Recently, Celkon Mobiles, the domestic handset maker, launched three Android smartphones for the Indian market, the Celkon Monalisa ML-5, Signature Swift A112 and Campus A10.

The Celkon Monalisa ML-5 comes for Rs. 10,999 while the Signature Swift A112 was priced for Rs. 8,799 and the Celkon Campus A10 was launched at Rs. 4,299. The three Celkon smartphones are dual-SIM devices with GSM+GSM and come with 3G connectivity as well.

LG has announced the launch of its flagship smartphone ‘G2’ in the Indian market. The smartphone, which is available starting today, has been priced starting INR 41,500 in the country.

Originally unveiled in August, LG G2 features a 5.2-inch full HD IPS display, 2GB of RAM, 3000 mAh battery, and 13MP rear camera. The phone also comes with 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 2.1MP front camera and 16/ 32GB of internal storage.

Sony Xperia M dual goes on sale in India for INR 14,490

Sony has released its dual-SIM version of Xperia M smartphone in the Indian market. Known as Sony Xperia M dual, the smartphone is now available at online retailers like Snapdeal and Saholic for around INR 14,490.

Originally unveiled alongside the Xperia M in June this year, Xperia M dual packs the same specifications as the single SIM apart from the presence of Android 4.2. Although the product listings on Saholic and Snapdeal note the Android version to be Android 4.1 in Xperia M dual, Sony has always noted that dual-SIM version will come with Android 4.2.

Other specifications of Xperia M dual include 4-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 1GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera, and 1750 mAh battery.

According to Sony, Xperia M dual lets users select between two SIMs before making a call or sending a message with just a single click. Each SIM card can also be customised separately.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear launched in India

Samsung's latest device offerings, the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, recently went up for pre-order in India. The company has now starting shipping the devices to users who had pre-ordered the devices from the company’s online store. Multiple buyers reportedly started receiving tracking details of their shipments yesterday, according to BGR.

A quick look at the Note 3 reveals that the phablet comes with a refreshed design, sporting a leather-esque material for the back panel with stitched accents. In terms of specifications, the phablet comes with a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 386ppi. The Note 3 model being sold in India comes with the company’s improved version of the Exynos 5 Octa chip clocked at 1.9GHz, packing an ARM Cortex-A15 chip as well as a more power-friendly Cortex-A7. It runs the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as well as 3GB of RAM.

In terms of photography, the phablet comes with a 13-megapixel auto focus BSI Sensor, Smart Stabilisation and an LED Flash. The front-facing 2-megapixel BSI sensor can record Full HD videos at 30fps. Connectivity-wise, its comes with support for all the usual suspects like WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and MHL 2.0. The Galaxy Gear, on the other hand, is Samsung’s first step into the wearable category. At launch, the wearable will work with the Galaxy Note 3, but the Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 should be getting software updates for support soon. The Galaxy Gear is capable of displaying notifications including incoming messages, calls, texts, emails and alerts. The wearable shows a preview and gives the users the option of either accepting or dismissing them right from the Gear. Both the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear will officially start rolling out in stores from September 25. While the Galaxy Note 3 was launched in India for Rs 49,900 for the 32GB model, the Galaxy Gear will set users back Rs 22,990.

LG G2 goes on pre-order for INR 40,499

LG's upcoming G2 smartphone is already up for pre-order at online retailer Saholic in the Indian market. The smartphone, which is set to be launched on September 30 in the country, has been priced at INR 40,499 and will be available on the launch day itself.

Considering the specifications of this LG flagship, the pricing seems to be decent and the phone will be competing with the likes of Sony Xperia Z1.

To remind you, LG G2 runs on Android 4.2.2 and is powered by 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The phone sports a 5.2-inch IPS full HD display, 13MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera, 3,000 mAh battery and 32GB of storage.

It is also the first smartphone to come with power and volume buttons on the back of the smartphone instead of the usual – sides. The early reviews indicate that the placement of the buttons does not really hamper the overall smartphone and just takes a little getting used to.

The phone will be succeeding LG’s Optimus G smartphone as the flagship model in the country, which after multiple price-corrections is now being sold around INR 26-27,000.

Flipkart finally launched Android app

Flipkart has launched an Android app that offers users the ability to browse and purchase from the online shopping website's product catalogue from their smartphones.

The app allows users to navigate through Flipkart's different product departments including fashion products, electronics and accessories, books and entertainment, beauty and personal care and toys and baby care.

The app also lets users search for products, categories or brands through text based keywords, barcodes and even voice, which was recently introduced on Flipkart's website and offered to select users.

It allows users to narrow their search through Sort and Filter features, allowing them to sort products on the basis of relevance, popularity, price (both high to low and low to high) and discounts, and filter through the type, brand, price, discount, availability and other variables.

Product listings on the Flipkart app allow users to see images of products and zoom to see a close-up, in addition to offering user reviews and ratings. The listings feature a slider menu on the left displaying other products in the category. Swiping to the left also takes the user to the next product in the same product category.

The app also displays recently browsed products and their details even when the mobile device is not connected to the Internet.

The Flipkart Android app lets users place orders and use different payment methods including cash on delivery, credit/ debit cards, EMIs and NetBanking. It also allows tracking status of items in the order and checking other account details.

The app also lets users share links to interesting products with friends through SMS, Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other services.

Sony Xperia Z1 launched in India at Rs. 44,990

Sony has launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1, in India. The phone was unveiled at IFA, Berlin earlier this month.

Sony Xperia Z1 comes with 5-inch full-HD display and the power of a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, recently seen inside the blazing fast Sony Xperia Z Ultra (Review), alongside 2GB of RAM. The Xperia Z1 comes with 16GB of internal storage, that can be expanded by up to 64GB via a microSD card. The phone runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with a 3,000mAh battery underneath.

One of the highlights of the Sony Xperia Z1 is its camera, with Sony's own G Lens with 27mm wide angle and f/2.0 aperture. The camera comes with a large 1/2.3-type CMOS 20-megapixel image sensor Exmor RS with BIONZ mobile image processing engine.

The camera comes with software enhancements like Social live, which lets you broadcast live to Facebook and get your friends' comments right on your screen. Info-eye is a visual search function that provides related information on landmarks and on items such as books or wine by capturing them with the camera. Android OS Lassi or Ladoo Coming Soon?

After Google's announcement that the next Android OS will be named KIT KAT, Indian Android users came up with their own ideas for future Android releases.

There are two groups petitioning to have their idea be the next name for Android: lassi and ladoo. Both lassi and ladoo are popular Indian treats, following Google's pattern of naming the releases after sugary treats. Lassi is a thick yogurt drink, almost like a milkshake, and can be sweet or salty. Ladoo is a sweet dessert that resembles a golf ball. The lassi group is made up of a group of Indian Institutes of Technology Kharagpur, Sundar Pichai's alma mater, who wrote a letter to Pichai with the request. The group says that naming the next OS lassi would highlight and acknowledge the vast support of Google's platform in India. Last year, 68.8 percent of smartphones shipped to India were running the Android platform. Google announced that it has seen an annual growth of 500 percent in India for Android smartphones.

The second group, the ladoo group, is made up of 500 Indian tech startups. The ladoo group started an online campaign in an attempt to convince Google to name the next OS ladoo. The campaign has over 5000 supporters to date, and that number is still growing. If Google were to name its next OS lassi, ladoo, or some other Indian treat, it could be a way to bridge the East and West. Everyone can identify with a KitKat bar, but very few in the West could tell you what ladoo is. Perhaps Google could lead the way to change that and teach the world about itself.

Samsung India begins pre-bookings for Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear

Samsung has started taking pre-orders for its new Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear devices on the official e-store. Like other Samsung devices in the past, Samsung is asking for INR 2,000 as the pre-booking amount and the users will be able to pay for the rest once the devices are available and priced.

As the new Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch works only with Note 3 and Note 10.1 (2014) devices at the moment, Samsung is selling it bundled with Note 3 smartphone and not separately. Consumers can either book Note 3 as a single device or Note 3 with Galaxy Gear, only these two options are available.

The pre-booking section seem to have been made live pre-maturely as a lot of details are missing from the pre-booking listings including the terms and conditions. We would suggest you to wait for a day or two before pre-booking these devices.

To remind you, Samsung is hosting a press event in New Delhi on September 17 to officially launch both the devices in the Indian market, they will however go on sale a week later, beginning September 25.

Celkon launches Jelly Bean-based Campus A10, Monalisa ML-5 and Signature Swift A112 smartphones

Celkon Mobiles, a domestic handset maker, has launched three new Android smartphones for the Indian market, the Celkon Monalisa ML-5, Signature Swift A112 and Campus A10.
The Celkon Monalisa ML-5 features a 4.5-inch qHD (540x960 pixel) display, and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor (presumably the MediaTek MT6589) along with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and comes with 4GB of inbuilt storage which can be expandable up to 32GB. The device sports an 8-megapixel rear camera while there is a 2-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. It includes an 1800mAh battery, though the company has not detailed the talktime and standby time of the device. The Celkon Monalisa ML-5 is the first smartphone under the company's Monalisa portfolio, and has been priced at Rs.10,999.

Samsung Galaxy Grand duos getting Android 4.2.2 update in India

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.2.2 update for Galaxy Grand duos smartphone in the Indian market. The update is now rolling out over-the-air as well as via Kies app.

There is no official change-log available at this point but the update is expected to include Android 4.2.2 changes like lock-screen widgets, quick-settings in notification shade, DayDream support and performance improvements. Several goodies are expected on the Touchwiz side too.

You will be automatically notified once the update is available for your phone, however you can also check for the update manually by going to Settings << About Phone << Software update << Update. If you want to update your phone via Kies, the application can be downloaded from the Samsung support site.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) coming to India next month

Samsung is planning to launch its Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) tablet in the Indian market around late-October, reports Press Trust of India (PTI). The news agency has apparently got this information from Samsung senior VP (CE division) Atul Jain, who has also confirmed Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear devices are being launched in the country on September 25, as reported by us earlier.

According to PTI, Samsung will release Note 10.1 2014 edition close to Diwali, probably to capitalise on the festival shopping season. The agency has also revealed that Galaxy NX smart camera, which was announced by Samsung back in June, will be coming to the country sometime this month. There is no confirmation on the exact launch date but we wouldn’t be surprised if it was launched alongside Note 3 and Gear on September 25.

To remind you, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) comes with 2560x1600p resolution display, 1.9GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and Android 4.3.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy NX smart camera packs 20.3 effective megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, quad-core processor, 4.8-inch TFT LCD, Android 4.2, 2GB of RAM and support for multiple lenses.

HTC One Dual SIM (CDMA+GSM) with Expandable Memory Launched in India for ₹53,590

Taiwanese smartphone major HTC and telecom carrier Tata Docomo have jointly announced the availability of the HTC One dual-SIM phone in India.

Commenting on the launch of the new HTC One variant, HTC South Asia President Jack Yang said, "Dual SIM smartphones are becoming more popular as they allow consumers to take advantage of the most effective network coverage in the vicinity of the user for the best possible connections."

"This phone (HTC One) uses the dual networks (GSM and CDMA) of Tata Docomo to offer great data & voice experience to customers. Our innovative offerings will appeal to both individual and business customers who desire a data rich experience," said, Tata Docomo Head (Non Voice Services), Sunil Tandon.

In addition to the extra SIM slot, the new HTC One variant boasts off a microSD slot, where in the smartphone storage space can be expanded up to 64GB. The original, single-SIM model came with 32GB inbuilt memory, but lacked memory card option.

Apart from these two features, other specifications remain the same. It sports a 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 screen with 1920x1080p display resolution and boasts of the industry's highest display resolution in its class, having pixel density close to 468 ppi (pixel per inch).

XOLO launched its first tablet ‘XOLO Tab’ for INR 13,499

Smartphone vendor XOLO has announced the launch of its first tablet in the Indian market today. Dubbed as XOLO Tab, the tablet sports an 8-inch IPS display with 1024x768p resolution.

According to the company, XOLO Tab runs on Android 4.1.2 and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor. It also features 1GB of RAM, 4000 mAh battery, 3G and voice calling support.

In addition, the tablet packs 2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera, 4GB of storage, microSD card slot, and support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

XOLO Tab has been priced at INR 13,499 and will be available starting this weekend in White colour.

Google says next version of Android will be called KitKat

Sundar Pichai, head of Android division at Google, on Tuesday revealed on Twitter that the next version of the company's mobile operating system (OS) will be called Android KIT KAT.

"We now have over 1 billion Android activations and hope this guy in front of the building keeps that momentum going," Pichai tweeted as well as posted an image of a giant Android mascot built like KitKat chocolate.

Earlier, there were rumours that the next version of the OS would be called Android Key Lime Pie.

Since Android 1.5, Google has named each version of the OS after a sweet. Android 1.5 was Cupcake. Android 1.6 was Donut. Android 2.0 was Eclair. Android 2.2 was Froyo. Android 2.3 was Gingerbread. Android 3.0 was Honeycomb. Android 4.0 was Ice Cream Sandwich. And Android 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 have been called Jelly Bean.

"Android is the operating system that powers over 1 billion smartphones and tablets. Since these devices make our lives so sweet, each Android version is named after a dessert... As everybody finds it difficult to stay away from chocolate we decided to name the next version of Android after one of our favorite chocolate treats, Kitkat," Google said.

The KitKat will be Android 4.4. So far there is no word on when Google will release this OS but it is likely to debut in the market with the new Nexus phone in the coming months.

Google announced the new version of Android just minutes after Apple sent out invites for an event on September 10 where it is likely to launch the next version of iPhone.

For KitKat name Google has tied up with Nestle, which makes KitKat chocolates.

"We couldn't imagine a better name for our Android K release than the tasty chocolate that's been a favourite among the team since the early days of Android," said Marc Vanlerberghe, director of Android marketing.

Nestle said that to mark the release of Android KitKat, more than 50 million specially branded KitKat bars will be available in 19 countries including Australia, Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, Dubai, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The packs will lead consumers to the website www.android.com/kitkat where they will have the opportunity to win prizes including a limited number of Google Nexus 7 tablets, and credits to spend in Google Play.

A small number of Android robot-shaped KitKat bars will be offered as prizes in selected markets.

Micromax Canvas Fun A74 now available online for INR 7,749

Micromax has quietly released a new Canvas Fun-series smartphone in the Indian market. Dubbed as Canvas Fun A74, the smartphone is now available at various online stores including Saholic and Snapdeal for INR 7,749.

The phone runs on Android 4.2.2 and is powered by 1.3GHz dual-core MediaTek processor. Micromax Canvas Fun A74 also comes with 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Other specs of the phone include dual-SIM support, 3G, 5MP rear camera, 1500 mAh battery and microSD card slot.

The sudden release of multiple Canvas Fun series phones suggests that Micromax has realised that phablets aren’t enough keep market share in the country. We hope to see more such smartphones from the company in the coming months.

Post the Mumbai gang-rape, several reports on how unsafe the city is for women have surfaced. Three women — Chinmayi S K, Ankita Herurkar and Sanik Sahasrabuddhe — have come out with an Android app that looks to instill some level of confidence in them. Called Bachchao (spelt as
Bachao on the app), the mobile app can be used to keep trusted friends informed of your location when travelling to a new city or staying out late.

“The happiest moment in our last six months of work has been when a friend contacted us. She had gone to a pub at around 10 pm and was testing the app. She told me that she felt safe because of it. All she had to do was to click a giant red button in the app and I would instantly get her co-ordinates. She was coming back by an auto and sent me her location three times,” says Chinmayi, co-creator.

Upon clicking the red button, the app sends an alarm via SMS to one or more trusted friends. You could also record a video, which can serve as a digital witness when no one else is around. The message that your friends receive includes location information, so that help reaches you as soon as possible. “These SMS sent out can be read even on the most basic phone,” says Chinmayi. The app also provides you with an option to update your family of your location every hour, two hours, six hours or on a daily basis.

The app has been downloaded around 50 times but they also have a set of pre-registered users who have been using it for a while now. She says, “We have it ready for use on Android and are beta testing on BlackBerry. It is also in the development phase for iOS.

* Sentinel: Works in multiple scenarios even without triggering an alert manually. A forced power off of the phone, or prolonged signal loss can cause a fail-safe alert. Facebook Home updated, brings lock-screen music controls

Facebook has released an update for its Facebook Home launcher in Google Play. The update might not be a huge one but still brings one important change – lock-screen music controls.

The small number of users, who are still sticking to Facebook Home, will now be able to play/ pause or go to the next/ previous song directly from their lock-screen.

The change-log does not mention any other features as a part of latest Facebook Home update. In related news, with the latest update, Facebook for Android now includes some animated stickers in messages like Pusheen, Beast and Anooki wave, dance and wiggle. The Facebook for Android change is only applicable to Android 4.0.2 or above users. In addition to all this, the update also brings some bug-fixes.

You can now update Facebook for Android on your device to get the new features for both Home as well as core Facebook app.

XOLO Play getting OTA software update

XOLO has announced that it is rolling out a software update for XOLO Play smartphone. The update is now available over-the-air and can be triggered by going to Settings << About Phone << System Updates.

The update is also available as a manual download from the company site and then can be applied using the embedded later in the post.

XOLO has not provided any change-log for this update and just notes that this update will improve the performance of this Tegra 3 smartphone. XOLO Play T1000 currently runs on Android 4.1.1 and it is unclear whether the new update bumps the Android version in the smartphone or not. Android 4.3 update release date: Galaxy S3 & S4, Moto X Phone, HTC One

The Android 4.3 software update is Almaty mythical in status, as it’s already been officially released but has yet to show up on most Android devices. While users of Google’s own Nexus devices already have 4.3, the rest of the Android platform still awaits its release date a month after it’s already surfaced. There’s precious little official information as to when the “Jelly Bean” Android 4.3 update will arrive on devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and S3, HTC One, and Moto X Phone. But here are our best estimates.

Galaxy S4: late 2013 or early 2014. Samsung has shown a history of being very slow to adapt new Android software updates to its existing hardware, and there is little reason to expect that to change with Android 4.3.
Galaxy S3: never. Samsung still hasn’t released Android 4.2 for the S3 after the better part of a year. There is even less hope for a 4.3 release date.

Moto X Phone: soon. Motorola is now an in-house Google brand, meaning Android 4.3 compatibility should be fairly trivial. HTC One: unknown. HTC still hasn’t gotten around to delivering Android 4.2.2. There’s some talk of it jumping straight to 4.3, but HTC is in such turmoil right now that little is clear.

Twitter for Android with new conversation view

Twitter has released an update for its official Android app earlier today. The new update brings a new conversation view and better support for entry-level Android devices.

According to a blog post by the company, the company wants to make to easier to follow conversations and be a part of them. From now on, users will be able to see conversational tweets linked by a vertical line.

“You’ll see up to three Tweets in sequence in your home timeline; if you want to see more, you can tap a Tweet to see all the replies, including those from people you don’t follow,” Twitter noted. You can check out more in this video.

Apart from this new conversation interface, Twitter has also improved the experience on Android smartphones with limited internal storage.

“We have improved the Twitter for Android experience on entry-level Android smartphones with limited storage, such as the Samsung Galaxy Y, HTC Explorer, Micromax Bolt, etc. For these devices, the Twitter app is now less than half the previous size, making it much faster to download and easier to install,” Twitter stated.

The updated version is now available via Google Play.

XOLO launched Q1000S phone with quad-core CPU & Android 4.2

After multiple teasers on its social media channels, XOLO has finally announced the launch of its new XOLO Q1000S smartphone in the Indian market today. This QCore-series smartphone packs some impressive specifications in just 6.98mm thick chassis.

According to a press release issued by the company, XOLO Q1000S has been priced at INR 18,999 and will be available in the coming days.

Coming to specifications of the smartphone, Q1000S features a 5-inch 720p HD display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 16GB of internal storage, 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera (both with BSI sensors). The phone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Videocon launches A42 with Android 4.2 & 4.5-inch display for INR 7,490

Videocon Mobiles has announced the launch of a new Android smartphone in the Indian market today. Dubbed as Videocon A42, the smartphone runs on Android 4.2.2 and packs a 4.5-inch FWVGA display.

According to Videocon, A42 also comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM. The phone supports dual-SIM cards and the usual connectivity options. It will be sold for INR 7,490 in the country.
