This change comes years after removing dislike button counts.

In a limited test, by replacing the thumbs-up like button with a heart, Google appears to be bringing YouTube Shorts more in line with rival short-form video platforms like TikTok and Instagram. But it marks a departure from YouTube’s long-standing thumbs-up icon. Many users have noticed this change over the past couple of days. There are several Reddit threads on the topic.

The heart button is reportedly appearing across Android, iOS, and web apps. While it apparently showed up a month ago for some users, it seems to be more widely rolling out now. This seems like a simple icon and animation swap. The thumbs-up like icon in YouTube Shorts is replaced with a heart icon and matching animation.

The dislike button is reportedly disappearing entirely

However, for some users, the heart also comes with the removal of the dislike button. This reportedly disappeared completely from the UI. Some users opine that pairing the heart (like) button with the dislike button looks odd. So, Google may be preparing to remove the button entirely. If true, this will be a major shift in how the platform handles video feedback. 

The test (replacing the like icon with a heart) is not mentioned on YouTube’s “test features and experiments” page. It doesn’t seem to be available to every device yet. Also, there are no reports of this change outside of YouTube Shorts. This means standard YouTube videos seem to be sticking with the standard like button. At least for now.

Meanwhile, YouTube’s contextual like button animations appear to be reaching more users. When pressed, the button can transform into icons like a dog paw, cat, wheel, light bulb, and many other shapes, depending on the video’s topic. This feature has been showing up for a few months, but seems to be rolling out more widely now.

Just a week ago, Google dropped a massive security patch that addressed hundreds of individual software bugs. Now, billions of desktop and mobile users face another urgent reason to check their web browser version. Google has officially released Chrome version 149, aiming to fix an active zero-day vulnerability that malicious actors are already exploiting in the wild.

The high-severity flaw is cataloged as CVE-2026-11645. It stems from an out-of-bounds memory access weakness nestled deep inside Chrome’s V8 JavaScript and WebAssembly engine. According to data published by the National Vulnerability Database (NVD), a remote attacker could weaponize this specific loophole by directing unsuspecting targets to a maliciously crafted HTML web page. Once visited, the page can trigger heap corruption, enabling attackers to execute unauthorized code directly within the web browser’s isolated security sandbox. They could also bypass traditional defenses like ASLR to cause a complete system crash.

The hunt for modern bugs

An independent security researcher known online by the handle “303f06e3” discovered and responsibly disclosed the vulnerability to Google back in late April. For their efforts in securing the platform, Google awarded the researcher a substantial $55,000 bug bounty payment (via Forbes).

Interestingly, the broader Chrome 149 package addresses over 70 additional security flaws. This includes 17 separate vulnerabilities that earned a critical severity index rating. Google’s internal security teams discovered almost all of these accompanying flaws. This suggests automated internal testing tools are heavily assisting engineers in uncovering deep-seated legacy bugs within production code.

As is standard operating protocol during active zero-day threats, Google is withholding granular technical details regarding how hackers are executing the exploit. Keeping these specific blueprints under lock and key prevents copycat attackers from developing their own variations.

How to secure your desktop immediately

The fixed software builds are actively deploying to the stable public channel as versions 149.0.7827.102/.103 for Windows and Mac. There’s also the version 149.0.7827.102 for Linux and Android environments. Furthermore, anyone using alternative Chromium-based web browsers—such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, or Vivaldi—should keep a close eye out for corresponding updates from their respective developers over the coming days.

Chrome natively downloads and applies security patches automatically in the background during normal operation. However, the rolling release schedule means it can take several days or even weeks to reach every single machine organically.

This marks the fifth actively exploited zero-day vulnerability Google has had to patch since the start of the year. Therefore, waiting around for an automatic update introduces unnecessary risk.

To bypass the queue and force the patch immediately on your desktop, click the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of your browser interface, go down to Help, and select About Google Chrome. The browser will instantly ping Google’s servers and download the version 149 update. Then, it will prompt you to relaunch the software to ensure your device is fully locked down against ongoing web-based attacks.

Apple took the covers off the much-awaited iOS 27 update at WWDC yesterday, i.e., June 8th. This brings performance improvements, with faster app loading speeds, a new Liquid Glass slider, faster AirDrop transfers, and much more. Most importantly, we finally have the revamped Siri. The company also detailed several updates coming to Apple Music in iOS 27, including an upgraded AutoMix feature.

The most apparent visible change is a redesigned artist page, with a prominent shuffle play button, updated artist name display, and other layout tweaks. The album pages have also been updated. However, changes are reportedly not visible in the first iOS 27 developer beta for iPhones. Apple has upgraded AutoMix, which is its AI-powered feature that blends songs based on key and tempo, with improved algorithms to generate new transition types. The standard Crossfade option is still available for those who prefer it. 

Lyrics Translation is also expanding in iOS 27. It gets support for seven new language pairings. These include English to French, English to German, English to Italian, English to Korean, English to Spanish, French to English, and Japanese to English. The feature uses machine learning with fine-tuning from language experts to preserve the emotion, cultural nuance, and original intent of each song.

Deeper integration with the new Siri AI

Meanwhile, Lyrics Pronunciation, which helps users sing along when lyrics are in another language, is also gaining five new pairings. It covers Arabic to Romanized Arabic, English to Hangul, English to Katakana, Japanese to Hangul, and Mandarin Chinese to Katakana. 

Apple Music is adding Hi-Res Lossless Audio to tvOS in iOS 27, in addition to standard Lossless Audio. Those with compatible external speakers can listen to studio-quality music directly through the Apple TV 4K. The new upgrade, iOS 27, apparently makes Apple Music streaming more reliable. The Now Playing view apparently loads faster, and music starts playing quicker after opening the app. Both these improvements should make the app far more responsive overall. Users can also now swipe away the Now Playing widget on the Lock Screen to dismiss it.

Lastly, Apple Music also gets deeper integration with the new Siri AI in iOS 27. You can ask Siri about artists and then follow up with natural commands like “play one of their new singles” mid-conversation to start playing music without interrupting the flow.

Focal has announced a new color of its Bathys MG headphones, now available in what Focal is calling the Graphen Gray finish. Audiophile headphones like the Bathys MG from Focal aren’t the types of wireless headphones that most people think about. No, most people think about that new pair from Beats, or the new Sony WH-1000XM6. Even the Bose QuietComfort Ultra, which like the Sony headphones, are still kind of expensive. But even with their price tags that cost a few hundred dollars, they’re well below the benchmark that Focal is setting.

At a price of $1,499, the Focal Bathys MG are not the wireless headphones for the average listener. They evoke that in the design and the price, and quite likely in how they sound. Because with a price like that, these have to sound incredible. Otherwise people would never spend that kind of money to make them worth Focal’s time to manufacture. Or so you would think. Putting all of that aside, the Focal Bathys MG probably sound like nothing you’ve ever heard before unless you’ve dabbled in Audiophile headphones. And that’s a good thing, because that suggests these produce the kind of sound tat makes you feel alive.

While these are definitely a nice-looking pair of headphones, there are plenty of headphones that visually, look more luxury than these do. That isn’t a failure on Focal’s part. It’s intentional. Focal says the Bathys MG headphones are designed to appear like “discrete luxury” and they’re available in “elegant, soft, easy-to-wear tones that appeal to everyone.”

Of course, not everyone is going to spend $1,499 on a pair of wireless headphones. But of music fans that would, there are probably a fair amount of them out there that don’t want an obviously gaudy pair of headphones on their head. At least, maybe not while out in public.

When it comes to features, these headphones come with Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and the real secret sauce is the Magnesium speaker drivers. They have over 30 hours of battery life in Bluetooth mode, which, isn’t exactly shaking up the industry, but it’s perfectly suitable, and they even charge up fast. Focal says you’ll get up to 5 hours just from 15 minutes on the charger. You can plug them in and use them wired as well. They also come with a neat little carrying case for travel. You can pick up the new color from Focal directly, but you can save a bit of money by grabbing the Chestnut color on Amazon.

HONOR seems to be readying a phone with a massive 11,000mAh battery, pushing the envelope beyond 10,000mAh cell. The phone in question is the HONOR X80 Pro Max. Yes, yet another “Pro Max” branding. This will likely join the HONOR X80i, which debuted in China back in April. Besides the battery, tipster Digital Chat Station has also revealed other key specs of the phone.

Tipster Digital Chat Station, in a Weibo post, claims the HONOR X80 Pro Max will feature a large 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 2788 X 1280 pixels resolution, rounded corners, and narrow bezels. Powering the phone is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip. It’s a mid-range SoC, but should have no issues handling your everyday tasks. But don’t expect it to run heavy games.

The HONOR phone may arrive with full water and drop resistance design and what the tipster calls “flagship-level” biometric authentication for security. The phone may support 90W fast charging, meaning it should charge the large 11,000mAh battery relatively quickly.

There’s also the standard HONOR X80

Besides the HONOR X80 Pro Max, a recent leak on Weibo claims there’s the standard HONOR X80 too. It’ll share the same processor and display size, i.e., the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and a 6.8-inch AMOLED display. However, the battery capacity will be 10,000mAh, which is still quite large. It could charge at 90W speeds. The HONOR X80 may also offer a drop-resistant design for enhanced durability. It could be sold in Mystic Black, Moon Shadow White, Vibrant Orange, and Lightning Red shades.

The leak said the standard X80 is tipped to debut later this month. However, it’s not clear if the HONOR X80 Pro Max variant will tag along. We’ll probably have to wait for an announcement from the company.

It’s never a fun time when something like the Play Store is crashing on your Wear OS smartwatch, because chances are you’re trying to use it and you either want to install a new app or update an existing one. Maybe you just want to see if something in particular is available. So you go to search for it. Only to be met with constant crashing issues. That’s what some users are experiencing right now.

To be clear this is probably not the first time the Play Store has had crashing issues on a Wear OS device. Not even in larger numbers. But it does appear to be happening to a wider number of people at this point. That being said, it doesn’t seem to be happening to everyone.

The Play Store isn’t crashing for all Wear OS users, and not across all watch models

It’s worth noting that this isn’t an issue that appears to be happening for every single user with a Wear OS smartwatch. I tried it on my own personal Pixel Watch 4 and the Play Store has had no crashing issues at all. At least not yet (knocks on wood). It’s also reportedly happening to some Pixel Watch 4 owners though. In addition, Android Authority points out that some users have reported the problem on the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and the Galaxy Watch 7. it could also be impacting users with a Galaxy Watch 4, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3.

So, it’s not limited to Google’s own hardware. It isn’t clear how many models this has spread to, or what the cause is. Right now it’s not even clear if Google has acknowledged the problem. With that in mind, there isn’t a fix yet and may not be for a little while. If you have the bug, here doesn’t appear to be a workaround to get the Play Store running normally, so you probably just have to wait this out.

The AYANEO gaming phone is seemingly nearing a launch, as a new hands-on video of the device has popped up online. The device, which was first announced last year and was supposed to launch earlier in 2026, was delayed because the company wanted to have a renewed focus on improving shipping, support, and delivery timelines.

That’s what the company had claimed at least, when it issued a statement back in mid-January that the phone launch was being pushed back. AYANEO has shown off the phone’s design already so the public knows what it looks like. So far, though, no one has actually had hands-on time with it and been allowed to publish that content up until now.

The phone is reminiscent of a devices like the Sony Xperia Play and Motorola Droid. Two devices that had displays which slid upward to reveal things underneath. In terms of the Droid, it was a full-size physical keyboard. For the Xperia Play it was a set of controls for playing games. The AYANEO Pocket Play, as it’s officially called, leans more towards the latter. Featuring touch-sensitive joystick trackpads, a d-pad, and action buttons. It has even has physical triggers on top you can click inward.

If a gaming phone is what you’re looking for, and this is what you seek, there are two things you need to know. One, the AYANEO Pocket Play is not coming to the US, or any other region. At least not yet. Right now it’s only available in China. However, it is noted that AYANEO has a Kickstarter for the device, so it could end up launching in other regions.

The other thing worth noting is that this phone is majorly thick. So even if you could buy it, you’d want to be prepared for a phone that is going to fatten up your pockets considerably. Or make sure you have a bag on you to toss it into. The hands-on video, which comes from PC World, doesn’t mention a price tag. Which is understandable given it isn’t available in the US.

Interestingly enough, it’s also not manufactured by AYANEO. Instead, the phone is made by a company called AMOBILE that AYANEO partnered with to make the device. When or if the Pocket Play ever comes to regions outside of China is unclear. But gamers would surely appreciate it.

AMD is probably not the company you would be expecting to talk about RAM prices, but don’t forget that AMD, much like other tech companies such as NVIDIA, HP, Dell, and many other brands that build computer hardware have to buy RAM up for that hardware just like consumers do. So, it would stand to reason that AMD may just have an ear to the ground regarding RAM costs currently and going forward. According to the CPU and GPU maker, RAM prices are not going to go down anytime soon.

Of course, you may well already know that RAM prices have risen to astronomical levels. The memory crisis, brought on by AI data centers and their unquenchable thirst for RAM, storage, CPUs, and GPUs has caused prices to increase across the board pretty much everywhere. It’s gotten to the point that PC builders, gamers, and general consumers who want or need a new computer are finding it a lot less affordable to get one. Companies like Valve have raised the price of the 1TB Steam Deck by $300. Costs like these aren’t going away for a while. That’s according to AMD and several other companies.

AMD believes that RAM prices won’t decrease until at least 2028

While AMD certainly doesn’t know for certain when RAM prices will come down, it seems to have a good idea. According to the company, RAM prices are likely to stay high until at least 2028. It’s not even clear when in 2028 they might come down, if this prediction is accurate. This is not the first time someone has predicted this time frame, either. The CEO of Silicon Motion suggested a potential time frame of 2028 as well.

It’s also worth noting that AMD is probably able to make this prediction because it knows what it’s having to spend to buy RAM for its own products throughout this year, and next year. So, it’s able to take that into consideration and use that data to figure out a possible time frame on RAM prices coming back to normal levels.

All of that being said, the possibility of things remaining this way until 2028 is not great. Prices on components, and really everything else, have drastically increased and have been this way for six months or more. It’s not likely going to get any easier for a while. So consumers will probably want to hunker down and be prepared to keep paying more, or figure out a way to scale back.

Anthropic is shaking up the artificial intelligence landscape yet again. This time, the firm is pulling back the curtain on a massive capability jump that has spent months behind closed doors. More specifically, Anthropic officially launched the Claude Fable 5 AI model update, marking the very first-time everyday consumers and enterprise clients can tap into their highly guarded “Mythos-class” ecosystem.

If the name Mythos sounds familiar, it is because a restricted preview version of this underlying technology sent shockwaves through Wall Street and government defense sectors back in April. The original model demonstrated a staggering, near-superhuman knack for hunting down severe security exploits across major web browsers and operating systems. Wary of what that raw power could look like in the wrong hands, Anthropic kept it heavily locked down. With Fable 5, however, the tech startup believes it has successfully engineered a version that is completely safe for widespread commercial consumption.

The clever tag-team safety solution

The core secret behind Fable 5’s public debut comes down to a sophisticated, proactive defensive framework. In an interview with CNBC, Dianne Penn, Anthropic’s head of product management for research, highlighted that the company deliberately built advanced classifiers designed to intercept high-risk prompts.

If an enterprise user asks the model a complex coding or analytical question, Fable 5 flexes its muscle. It easily scores 10% higher on benchmarks than the recently launched Claude Opus 4.8. In fact, third-party testing from analytics firm Hex showed Fable 5 scoring an unprecedented 90% on intricate, long-running data benchmarks. However, the moment a prompt veers into dangerous territory—like asking for assistance with software hacking, chemical synthesis, or biological weapons—the safety net triggers instantly. Instead of failing blindly, Fable 5 blocks the response and seamlessly hands the request off to the older, safer Opus 4.8 engine to generate a secure answer.

The catch: High costs and new data rules

While the performance leap is undeniable, early adopters will need to navigate a couple of major structural caveats. First, intelligence at this tier is far from cheap. Fable 5 enters the market at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. This effectively doubles the operational cost of running Opus 4.8.

Second, the rollout introduces an aggressive new data privacy paradigm. To defend against novel, complex system overrides and jailbreaks, Anthropic is instituting a mandatory 30-day traffic retention policy for all Fable 5 data pipelines. Even if an enterprise client previously maintained a specialized zero-retention agreement with the startup, they must temporarily forfeit that parameter to use the new model. Anthropic explicitly noted that this gathered data will never be repurposed for model training. It strictly serves as a security ledger to monitor and mitigate emerging attacks.

Fueling the race to the stock market

The calculated timing of this product launch is no mere coincidence. The announcement lands mere days after Anthropic confidentially submitted its IPO prospectus to the SEC, positioning itself for a historic public market debut alongside its chief rival, OpenAI.

And it seems that Samsung is happy to continue down this path of rugged tablets fit for adventure.

While not Samsung’s most popular tablets are likely those in the Galaxy Tab S lineup, like the upcoming Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, there’s a market for rugged tablets. Some people are just prone to accidents and drop their stuff a lot. The more rugged devices, such as the Galaxy Tab Active line, can prevent accidental damage due to their increased durability. They’re also excellent options for people who work in the field, whether that be in more industrial type jobs or those in the military.

There are currently no rumored specs for the Galaxy Tab Active 6

While the tablet is said to be in development, that’s about all the information on it that there is right now. According to the rumors, which come from SamMobile, the tablet will also have 5G connectivity options. There is likely to be a Wi-Fi-only version as well. Though a Wi-Fi-only version is not mentioned.

SamMobile says there are no details on specs or any details on the design. So as of now the only thing known about it other than the existence and the 5G is that it will be available in international markets with the model number SM-X316B.

With regard to the specs, Samsung is unlikely to use older tech. Since the last model came out a couple of years ago, and by the time this new mode is likely done, those specs will be fairly outdated. Which suggests that Samsung will be using newer components and that could lead to a significantly upgraded model.

First impressions matter, and when I first picked up the Lenovo Idea Tab Plus, I was pleasantly surprised by its physical build. Lenovo did not cheap out on the materials here. Instead of the flimsy plastic shells we often find in budget tablets, you get a mostly aluminum body that gives the device a reassuringly solid structure. It feels cool to the touch and offers a rigid, dense feel that immediately makes you think it costs more than its actual price tag. When you apply pressure or try to twist the chassis, you do not hear any creaks or feel any alarming flex. It feels like a reliable piece of metal that can easily handle being tossed into a messy backpack alongside heavy textbooks and keys.

The colorway of our unit, Cloud Grey, is a very safe and professional choice. It is a soft, matte grey that does not scream for attention but looks perfectly respectable on a library table or in a corporate meeting room. Lenovo decided to break up the flat matte texture of the back panel by placing its logo right in the middle with a shiny, reflective finish. When you tilt the tablet under the light, that logo catches the reflections in a very clean way, adding a touch of class to an otherwise minimalist rear design.

In contrast to the metal body, the single rear camera lens sits on a small, rectangular camera island made of glossy plastic. It protrudes slightly, although the tablet’s dimensions prevent the “wobble” effect when you place it completely flat on a desk and try to type on the screen.

If you are the type of user who likes to keep a massive collection of offline PDF textbooks, downloaded video lectures, or heavy music playlists, you will love the side edge of this tablet. Lenovo has retained a physical slot for a MicroSD card. This is great for students because it means you do not have to pay a massive premium for higher internal storage tiers. You can simply buy a cheap card, slide it in, and instantly expand your digital library.

Let’s talk about the audio, because a tablet is only as good as its speakers when it comes to relaxing after a long day of study. The Idea Tab Plus features a quad-speaker setup, with two grilles on each of the short sides when you hold the tablet in landscape orientation. In general, these speakers do a decent job. They manage to create a nice sense of surround sound, separating the left and right audio channels well enough to make watching movies or listening to podcasts more immersive. However, don’t look for them to blow you away acoustically. I found the maximum volume level to be noticeably lower than what I expected from a four-speaker system. It is perfectly fine for a quiet bedroom or a study corner, but if you have a noisy fan running in the background, you might find yourself wishing for a bit more punch.

The display is your primary interface with any tablet, so it needs to perform well. Lenovo went with an LCD panel here, which is the standard choice for an entry-level device rather than the pricier OLED screens. The screen can reach about 800 nits of brightness (HBM). Indoors, this is absolutely plenty of light. Whether you are sitting under the bright fluorescent lights of a lecture hall or working in a sunny cafe, the screen remains clear, colorful, and perfectly readable. You can read small text in documents and see the fine details in images without having to squint or maximize the brightness slider.

However, if you take the tablet outdoors on a bright, cloudless day, you will quickly hit the limits of this LCD screen. The 800-nit peak brightness simply cannot compete with direct, harsh sunlight. If you try to study on a park bench, you will find yourself constantly tilting the screen to avoid reflections, turning your session into a search for a shady tree. If you plan to do most of your work outdoors, this is an important limitation to keep in mind.

Since this is an LCD screen and not an OLED, you do not get those infinitely deep blacks or the ultra-punchy contrast that make high-end tablet screens look so striking. When you watch a movie with many dark scenes, you will notice a slight grayish backlight glow in the black bars at the top and bottom of the video.

But let’s be fair: for a budget-friendly student tablet, this screen has plenty of quality to make your daily use enjoyable. The colors look natural and lively, the viewing angles are wide enough that you can share a video with a friend sitting next to you without them seeing a faded image, and the resolution is sharp enough to keep text looking clean and crisp. It is a highly competent display that does exactly what you need it to do for streaming your favorite shows, browsing websites, or reading digital books, without any unnecessary bells and whistles.

Lenovo Idea Tab Plus Review: Performance

Performance is where we get a very clear picture of the tablet’s entry-level, student-first identity. Inside, the Idea Tab Plus runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor. This 6nm chip is designed to handle basic daily tasks while keeping power consumption low. This review was actually my very first encounter with this specific SoC, and to be completely honest, my overall impressions ended up being a bit “meh.”

On the positive side, the tablet can easily run almost all the daily applications you will need for your studies or casual entertainment. You can jump into your web browser, open up your online document editors, check your email, and stream a video in a floating window without the tablet crashing or giving up. The 8GB of RAM does a decent job of keeping those apps open in the background, so you do not have to wait for them to reload every single time you switch tasks.

However, using the interface isn’t quite as smooth as one would like. The tablet can feel a bit clunky and unresponsive at times. Even simple actions like pulling down the notification shade can lead to some visual stuttering and lag. The animations seem to drop frames, making the interface feel heavy and unoptimized.

This clunkiness is particularly interesting because I have tested other devices with the same combination of LPDDR4X RAM and older UFS 2.2 storage, and those devices felt significantly smoother in daily use. This suggests that the hardware might not be entirely to blame. There is some room for Lenovo to release software updates to optimize how the operating system talks to the Dimensity 6400 chip. As it stands right now, you can absolutely get your work done, but you have to accept that the tablet lacks that snappy, instantaneous feel we expect from modern mobile devices.

When we loaded up demanding, resource-heavy games like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Call of Duty Mobile, the tablet automatically set the graphical settings to “Low” or “Very Low.” This is a necessary trade-off to keep the frame rate at a playable level. If you try to push the graphics to medium or high, the game immediately becomes a choppy, unplayable slideshow with frustrating input delay.

By leaving the graphics at their lowest settings, you can actually get a decent, relatively stable gaming experience. You can run around the open world of Genshin Impact or engage in multiplayer matches in Call of Duty without constant stuttering. Of course, the games will not look pretty. You will notice jagged edges on character models, muddy textures on the ground, and very basic lighting effects.

Lenovo Idea Tab Plus Review: Benchmarks

Synthetic benchmark tools can give us a general idea of ​​a processor’s raw power capabilities. The results clearly position the Idea Tab Plus as an entry-level device. The results from the Dimensity 6400 chip are more reminiscent of the older Helio chipsets than the more modern, capable Dimensity ones.

As usual, we started our battery of tests with Geekbench. This particular benchmark is focused on the CPU’s chipset capabilities. And, as expected, the results are quite modest.

Antutu

Antutu reflects the reality of this tablet’s power even more clearly. The score of almost 560K indicates that this is by no means a device designed for the most demanding tasks and games. Still, it has enough power for most everyday apps, as well as educational tools.

3DMark’s Wildlife Extreme Stress Test

Finally, there’s 3DMark’s Wildlife Extreme Stress Test, which pushes mobile device hardware to its limits. Again, the tablet’s raw power doesn’t stand out in the test. However, the device’s high stability rate indicates that it’s capable of delivering consistent and sustained performance over extended periods of use.

One benefit of this low-intensity rendering is that the tablet stays impressively cool. Since the processor is not being pushed to its absolute limits, it does not generate the massive heat that usually causes performance to drop over time. The aluminum back panel does an excellent job of spreading the warmth evenly across the surface, meaning you won’t feel any uncomfortable hot spots under your hands.

If you start your day with a full charge, you can confidently head to campus or the office without carrying your charger along. Under a typical study-focused workload—which involves typing notes, reading PDF documents, researching on the web, and occasionally checking your social feeds—the battery level drops at a very slow, predictable pace. The LCD screen and the efficient processor work together to ensure that you can easily get through a full eight-hour day of intermittent use with plenty of juice left over for some evening streaming.

However, if you decide to spend your afternoon streaming high-definition videos over Wi-Fi or playing those low-graphics games, you will watch the battery percentage decline much faster. Demanding tasks force the processor to work harder, which naturally demands more power from the battery. Even so, the overall endurance remains highly competitive for this class of device.

Overall, you can expect the tablet to consistently offer between 8 and 10 hours of on-screen time.

When it comes to recharging, the experience is very traditional for an entry-level tablet. The charging speed is not the worst, neither the best. It focuses on keeping the battery cool and healthy over long-term use rather than rushing to fill it up. On the bright side, the 45W fast charging allows you to fill 50% of the cell in around 30 minutes. However, from there the charging speed drops drastically to protect battery health. A full charge from zero to 100% will take a couple of hours, which is fine for a budget device.

The Android tablet software space has improved dramatically over the last few years. We have finally moved past the era when tablet software was just a stretched-out smartphone interface that wasted massive amounts of screen space. Today, Android includes genuine productivity tools designed to make the most of larger displays. Lenovo has implemented these features quite well on the Idea Tab Plus.

The standout feature of the interface is the permanent taskbar at the bottom of the screen. This single addition makes multitasking feel incredibly natural. It lets you quickly launch your favorite apps, jump back into programs you recently closed, or switch between tasks with a single tap, bringing the user experience much closer to a traditional laptop or desktop computer.

To help you get work done, the software supports robust split-screen and floating window capabilities. Should You Buy the Lenovo Idea Tab Plus?

The Lenovo Idea Tab Plus is a highly pragmatic device that knows exactly what it wants to be. It is a durable, affordable study tool built to survive the daily grind of student life without breaking the bank. The solid aluminum body offers a level of physical durability that is not that common at this price. Plus, the clean, bloatware-free software experience is a breath of fresh air. Furthermore, Google removed an annoying restriction from the older test builds. Previously, you could only shrink the window while the AI was actively computing a response. Streamlining the Android workflow

Alongside the multitasking button, Google is also quietly refining the account switcher user interface inside both the dedicated Gemini app and the standard Google application to make switching profiles a bit cleaner.

Yesterday at WWDC 2026, Apple officially announced the next major OS update for its Mac computers in the form of macOS 27. However, unlike previous Apple naming schemes, macOS 27 wasn’t named after parks, lakes, or natural landmarks. Instead, Apple opted to name it after San Francisco’s Golden Gate. Thanks to the folks at 9to5Mac, they have shared the official macOS 27 wallpapers in both dark and light modes. As the publication notes, Apple is doing something interesting and different this year. Typically, the company gives each of its devices different styles of wallpaper.

However, with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, they all share the same artwork, albeit drawn slightly differently to match the device. But for the most part, they look the same and, if you didn’t notice, feature curves that create a stylized “27.” There are dynamic versions of the wallpaper, but you’ll have to actually update to macOS 27 to use them.

What’s coming in macOS 27?

In addition to changing the naming scheme of macOS and opting for a unified wallpaper across its devices, WWDC 2026 felt different. Apple usually waxes poetic about every major update. They highlight all the changes and improvements and new features that are coming. But this year, they kind of glossed over it, focusing more on Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.

This doesn’t mean there are no changes. For starters, macOS 27 will refine the Liquid Glass UI and introduce a slider so users can adjust the transparency. There are also major changes under the hood that Apple claims will result in a 30% boost. They also claim AirDrop could see an 80% boost in speeds.

Also, macOS 27 will finally see Apple drop support for its Intel-based Macs. The minimum requirement for macOS 27 is Apple’s M1 chip or newer. This doesn’t mean Apple has completely stopped supporting Intel Macs. Those Macs will still receive security updates for a while more.

Stick drift is a particularly annoying problem to deal with and it was pretty bad with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers, and that issue has now led to a massive fine of €35 Million being issued to the company by the French government. The lawsuit was initially started after complaints were filed about Nintendo and the drift issue all the way back in 2020.

It’s taken some time, but consumers who experienced the problem will now be getting some sort of resolution. Nintendo did eventually begin offering free repairs to impacted Switch owners. However, it was slow to do so. It also reportedly didn’t inform customers early enough about the problem. With no free repairs, this led to many customers buying new Joy-Con controllers. Nintendo is said to have known about the problem since 2018.

The main issue lies with the potentiometers. Which is why many brands have swapped to Hall Effect or TMR thumbsticks. Because the last thing you want is for stick drift to kick in while you’re right in the middle of gaming.

Nintendo did not face the same fine for Switch Joy-Con drift in the US

While the Joy-Con drift issue impacted customers globally, including in the US, Nintendo has not been slapped with the same fine elsewhere. That being said, the French government’s decision can be seen as a beacon for other regulatory groups. Nintendo has since taken measures to remedy the problem in places like the US. Which is part of the reason why it never ended up being issued a fine by the US government.

Unlike in Europe, Nintendo was able to escape legal fines in most cases due to customers signing the End User License Agreement. That being said, customers experiencing drift problems can possibly get repairs by registering at the Nintendo support site.

If you have the issue with stick drift, this is worth doing. Joy-Con controllers aren’t exactly cheap. Not to mention that new Joy-Cons haven’t been improved to prevent stick drift from happening. So, before spending a bunch of money, see if Nintendo might set you up with repairs first.

The problem with buying clothes is that they look good on the model and in photos, but the question is, do they look good on you? A couple of months ago, Google announced a new AI-powered feature coming to Google Photos called Wardrobe, and now it looks like the feature is starting to roll out to users.

In a post on the Google Support forums, the company confirmed the feature is starting to roll out. “We’re excited to share that Google Photos is slowly rolling out a digital closet, built for you. Wardrobe automatically organizes your clothes from your photos. You can virtually mix and match outfits, try them on, and save your perfect looks right from the Google Photos app,” they said.

However, before you get too excited, there are a few things to note about its release. For starters, it will be limited to Brazil, India, and the US first. Secondly, it will also only be available to users who subscribe to Google’s AI Pro or Ultra plans. Thirdly, it is limited to Android for now. However, Google says it plans to expand it to iPhones and iPads in the future.

It is a bummer that it isn’t so widely available yet, but we get it. AI-powered features are resource-intensive, so Google is limiting them to customers who are actually paying for its plans. However, seeing as how Google typically makes most of its products and services free (either supported via ads or limitations), we imagine that it should be available to everyone eventually.

What does this feature do?

Just in case you missed the announcement in April, Google Photos Wardrobe is an AI tool that lets users try on clothes virtually. We know that in the past, there were apps that let users curate looks and outfits. But this takes it one step further by simulating those outfits on you. So you know what it looks like on you specifically, not on a model.

The feature is part of Google’s expansion of AI into its products and services. This includes bringing AI editing to Google Photos that allows users to edit photos using conversational prompts.

Minecraft is usually not synonymous with nefarious deeds and is often one of the more wholesome gaming experiences, but that seems to be changing with a new malware that has spread across thousands of systems per day. The malware, which is reportedly called WeedHack, is capable of more fiendish feats than an ender dragon on the loose destroying your newly built home.

From accessing webcams to monitoring and controlling keyboard and mouse inputs, WeedHack can be a particularly dangerous malware if players aren’t careful enough to avoid the potential problems that it causes. One big issue is that the malware is available as an MaaS package. So bad actors can either access free or paid tiers with varying levels of functionality. Those same bad actors can then deploy it in a number of ways. In this case, through Minecraft mods that have been downloaded by a massive number of players. In particular, over 116,000. But there is a silver lining to all this.

The Minecraft malware can easily be avoided

At least for now, this malware is easy to avoid because it comes from unregulated mods for the game. This means if you only install mods from certain sources, such as CurseForge and NexusMods, then you should have no issues. Both of these options among others, have a mod approval process. So it’s unlikely that one which masquerades as a mod but is really malware, will be able to slip by.

McAfee, which discovered the malware, says that it’s been spread through these fake mods since January of 2026. And unfortunately, it’s still potentially infecting systems. Online security is no joke and not taking it seriously can have devastating effects. So when in doubt, don’t download anything you aren’t sure is safe.

McAfee says that a large majority of the people using the malware are teenagers who are cyber bullying other people around the same age. “WeedHack malware is a major catalyst for cyberbullying. Many of its customers appear to be teenagers and young adults and are using remote access capabilities to threaten, harass, and monitor their victims, who are around the same age,” the company said.

Gaming is a popular method of reaching victims

This shouldn’t be a surprise, but gaming is a popular method for spreading malware. There have been several pieces of malware disguised as games on Android over the years. More recently there were several attempts to infect players through fake GTA 6-related apps and software. Banking-related malware is also generally a danger. Case in point, be careful about what you’re downloading and where you download it from.

The Apple Photos app, for the most part, is functional. In some ways, it’s actually pretty good at doing basic edits. But now, it looks like Apple is giving its Photos app AI editing capabilities, which will hopefully be better than the previous iteration.

Apple Photos app gets new AI editing features

Now, Apple is no stranger when it comes to photo editing and AI. When Apple Intelligence first launched, one of the features was AI photo editing. Unfortunately, it was extremely basic and all it did was remove unwanted objects in a photo. But even then, it didn’t exactly do the best job.

However, as part of an overhaul to Apple Intelligence and iOS 27, Apple has brought more advanced AI editing tricks to the Apple Photos app. For starters, Apple is giving its Cleanup tool a much-needed upgrade and improvement. This upgraded version will do a better job at removing unwanted objects and create more realistic infills, even in complex scenes.

But there are also a couple of new features, like Spatial Reframing, that lets users reposition the virtual camera angle of a photo after it has been taken. You just need to touch and drag the photo around to adjust it accordingly. Apple Intelligence then generates new content to fill in the gaps.

Then, there is a new Extend tool, which lets users add more background space or adjust its aspect ratio. Honestly, these features still feel kind of basic. Maybe Spatial Reframing will come in handy, but otherwise, it still feels like Google Photos does AI better. In any case, we’ll have to wait and see how it actually handles real life.

Coming in iOS 27

Apple’s upgrade to its Photos app is part of the company’s iOS 27 update. For the most part, Apple glossed over a lot of the changes and features that are part of iOS 27. Instead, the company focused mostly on the improvements it is making to Apple Intelligence, which includes a revamped Siri AI powered by a custom Gemini model.

For WWDC this year, AI seems to be the focus, so hopefully Apple actually delivers. iOS 27 will be released later this year, possibly alongside the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models.

Yesterday, Apple took the stage in Cupertino at WWDC to introduce us to iOS 27 and Siri AI. This is the much-improved Siri that we were promised two years ago, and now it’s finally here (sort of).

After spending around half an hour talking about Siri and Apple Intelligence, Apple then told us that customers in the EU and China would not be getting Siri AI as part of iOS 27. Though the wording in the press release makes it sound like China might get it much sooner than the EU.

So what’s the problem with the EU? Well, it’s the Digital Markets Act. The same act that brought USB-C to the iPhone and sideloading to the iPhone in Europe is now keeping Europeans from getting a Siri glow-up.

The EU has responded, however. With Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier telling reports that Apple’s decision not to roll out Siri AI in the EU is Apple’s and Apple’s only. Continuing on by saying that “Apple was simply unable to develop interoperability solutions that meet essential EU privacy and security standards. Instead of trying to find a suitable compliance solution, Apple simply made a request to the European Commission to be exempted from its interoperability obligations. That’s not an option.”

The EU is asking for Apple to give competitors system-level access, like Siri AI has

Due to the DMA, the EU is forcing Apple to open up Siri. So, users would be able to choose between Siri, Gemini, and other AI assistants that would have the same access. Of course, Apple doesn’t want to give up that much access to a competitor. Never mind the privacy implications. Could you imagine if a rogue actor got into the system-level of your iPhone, disguised as an AI assistant? That would be a huge headache and nightmare.

Instagram finally allows you to reorder posts on your grid

According to USA Today, you will be able to move posts around regardless of when you made them. The ability is rolling out across the globe. This has been a long-requested feature from users, so much so that even Meta acknowledged that it was. “We know this is long overdue, but we wanted to take the time to get it right,” Meta told the publication.

Alessandro Paluzzi, known for reverse engineering apps and finding unannounced tools, had discovered the “edit grid” option in the Instagram app way back in 2022. This signals that the company has been planning to introduce it way before Mosseri announced it last year.

Pinned posts will remain at the top

To rearrange Instagram posts on your profile, long-press any post, which will surface a pop-up menu with “Reorder grid.” Tapping it takes you to another window, where you can drag posts to rearrange them in any order you like. It’s worth noting that pinned posts will remain at the top of the profile. It will be blacked out in the “Reorder grid” window.

The new Rearrange Grid feature is only available on the Instagram mobile app on smartphones and tablets. If you don’t see it yet, check that your Instagram app is up to date. There’s no limit on how many times users can rearrange their profile grids. So go ahead, get creative with your profile grid designs.

For those who never used Image Playground before, it was a far cry from what competing AI models could produce. It focused more on cartoon-like images, and even then, there were limitations to what users could do with it. However, with this upgrade, Apple is bringing Image Playground on par with the competition.

This upgraded version is powered by a new generative model that runs on Private Cloud Compute. With this new generative model, Image Playground will be able to produce high-quality images in any style, including photorealistic ones. In addition, the app also supports photo-based editing, so users can describe the changes they want to make.

From there, if you want to use these images as part of your Lock Screen wallpaper, Contact Posters, and more, you can. Users will have the option to choose an aspect ratio, so if you need to generate images for social media or your website, you can. That being said, we are curious as to what the limits are, especially since Apple hasn’t exactly started charging for Apple Intelligence yet.

Part of the iOS 27 update

That being said, don’t expect to try the new Image Playground just yet. This is part of Apple’s iOS 27 update, which was announced at WWDC 2026. It is also part of Apple’s broader attempts to improve on Apple Intelligence, which, for the most part, has been a joke. This includes a revamped version of Siri, which, based on the demos, looks quite impressive.

However, Apple did wow us back then when they first unveiled Apple Intelligence. But then, when it arrived, it fell short considerably. It was only later reported that Apple’s marketing team got ahead of itself. Since then, Apple has spent about two years trying to fix its mistakes.

Will the new Apple Intelligence and Siri AI live up to expectations? That remains to be seen. iOS 27 and all subsequent AI-related features are expected to be released later this year.

OpenAI has officially announced that it confidentially filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a proposed initial public offering. This move has been long awaited in the AI industry. This lands just over a week after its primary competitor, Anthropic, made an identical confidential move. It also comes just days before Elon Musk’s SpaceX is set to begin its historic public roadshow.

A confidential filing allows OpenAI to submit its internal financial health data to federal regulators for comprehensive review without making sensitive parameters visible to the open public. This includes executive compensation, business risks, and exact revenue figures. However, the company bluntly admitted it chose to post the news on its corporate blog simply because leadership expected the paperwork to leak to the press anyway.

The multi-billion-dollar cash burn

A public market debut undoubtedly marks a massive milestone for any tech company. Still, the timing highlights the staggering financial strain underneath the hood of frontier AI development. Building, training, and running massive AI models remain among the most capital-intensive corporate endeavors in history.

According to reports, OpenAI recently missed its internal targets for user growth and revenue. Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar has reportedly raised serious concerns regarding whether the company can successfully cover its aggressive infrastructure spending limits. The firm secured a historic $122 billion in a recent Silicon Valley funding round. However, internal projections indicate OpenAI expects to burn roughly $85 billion in 2028 alone. This is just to keep up with pure computing research.

In other words, public market investors are being asked to buy into an $852 billion business that openly projects it will not generate more cash than it spends for at least another four years.

A historic three-way battle for capital

The race to cross the public market finish line first carries incredibly high stakes. Financial experts suggest that whoever debuts first will likely absorb the lion’s share of institutional capital, which is becoming increasingly scarce as initial market hype cools down.

The competitive landscape has grown fiercely complex. Anthropic recently closed a massive funding round pushing its retail secondary market valuation to a whopping $965 billion. This way, Claude’s parent company officially eclipsed OpenAI’s latest valuation bench.

Meanwhile, SpaceX is preparing to launch its own massive public debut targeting a $1.75 trillion valuation. SpaceX recently absorbed Elon Musk’s xAI and established a massive data center partnership with Anthropic. So, OpenAI’s upcoming performance on Wall Street will be directly measured against Musk’s expanding technological empire.

Entering the third phase

In a separate post, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman framed the transition as the beginning of “the third phase of OpenAI.” According to Altman, the first phase focused on foundational research, while the second centered on refining the product through consumer feedback from ChatGPT‘s massive base of 900 million weekly users. This upcoming phase, he argues, is entirely about internal discipline and scalability.

To prepare for public scrutiny, OpenAI has been quietly trimming fringe operations. The firm entirely shuttered secondary projects like the short-form video application Sora to funnel every available resource into high-yield enterprise tools and its Codex programming ecosystem. Whether public investors will happily fund a multi-billion-dollar computational burn rate while the company scales these revenue models remains the trillion-dollar question hanging over Wall Street.

Samsung announced two very compelling mid-rangers back in March. These are two Galaxy A series phones, which are expected to become some of the company’s most popular devices this year. In this article, we’ll compare the two: it’s a Samsung Galaxy A57 vs Samsung Galaxy A37 comparison. The Galaxy A57 is the more powerful device of the two, but the Galaxy A37 may be enough for most of you, and it’s considerably more affordable.

As we usually do, we will first list the specs of both smartphones. Following that, we’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. Yes, there are quite a few similarities between these two phones, but Samsung did enough to differentiate them. Let’s see what they have to offer.

Samsung Galaxy A57 vs Samsung Galaxy A37: Design

The designs here are very, very similar, not identical, though. Both phones have flat displays, with a centered display camera up top. The Bezels on the Galaxy A57 are a bit thinner in comparison, not by much, but still… you can notice it if you look at them side-by-side. Both phones come with rounded corners and physical buttons on the right-hand side. The power/lock button sits below the volume up and down keys.

Frames on both phones are flat, though they’re not made out of the same material. The Galaxy A57 has a frame made out of aluminum, while the frame on the Galaxy A37 is made out of plastic. Both phones do include glass on the back, though. Speaking of which, the backplates are flat, and both phones include three vertically-aligned cameras in the top-left corner. Cameras on both phones are placed inside a pill-shaped camera island.

The Galaxy A37 is a bit taller, wider, and thicker than the Galaxy A57. The difference is here primarily due to thinner bezels on the Galaxy A57, at least as far as height and width are concerned. The Galaxy A37 is also noticeably heavier at 196 grams, compared to 179 grams of the Galaxy A57. That doesn’t make much sense, but there you go. Both devices are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

The Samsung Galaxy A57 features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display. That panel is flat, and it supports a refresh rate of 120Hz. HDR10+ content is supported here, while the peak brightness is 1,900 nits. The resolution this display offers is 2340 x 1080 pixels, while the screen-to-body ratio is around 89%. The display aspect ratio on offer is 19.5:9, while Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus+ protects this display.

The Samsung Galaxy A37, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display. That panel is also flat, and it has a 120Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness is also 1,900 nits. The resolution here is 2340 x 1080, while the screen-to-body ratio is around 87%. The display aspect ratio you’re getting here is 19.5:9, while this display is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus+ from Corning.

Those two displays are very similar, both on paper and in actual use. They’re vivid, have good viewing angles, and are bright enough. Granted, there are much brighter displays out there, but you have to manage your expectations. The displays are also sharp enough, and the protection on offer here is not bad either.

The Samsung Galaxy A57 is fueled by the Exynos 1680 processor. That is Samsung’s 4nm chip, and it’s backed by 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Samsung also includes UFS 3.1 flash storage inside this smartphone. Do note that the storage on offer is not expandable, so make sure you choose the right storage option.

The Samsung Galaxy A37, on the other hand, is fueled by the Exynos 1480 processor. That’s also a 4nm chip, but it’s inferior to the Exynos 1680 used in the Galaxy A57. It also comes with an inferior GPU. That chip is backed by 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage. The storage is not expandable here either.

Neither of these two phones will win performance awards. However, the performance is not bad. No, neither is as snappy as many flagship phones out there, not even close to that. However, the performance is good, and that’s especially true for the Galaxy A57. It is more consistently good in terms of general use. You can play games on both, but do note that they’re not made for gaming, and demanding titles could be a problem.

Samsung opted to include the same battery in these two phones. Both of them ship with a 5,000mAh unit. That is not a silicon-carbon battery, as Samsung still hasn’t made a jump to silicon-carbon tech. The battery life between these two phones is very similar, actually. That is not surprising considering the similarities we’ve talked about. The battery life is good, but not great.

Both devices are limited due to their battery capacity, but for most people, they’ll easily last through the day. The battery life is notably better than what their predecessors offered, so that’s great to see. Neither phone can compete with other devices in the same price tier that have huge silicon-carbon batteries, though. We’ve tested quite a few of those, and the difference is noticeable.

When it comes to charging, both devices support 45W wired charging. Wireless charging is not supported. Both of them can be fully charged up in about an hour and 10 minutes, give or take a couple of minutes. Do note that they do not ship with a charger, though, so you’ll need to get one of those in order to take advantage of the top charging speed.

What about the cameras? Well, out of the three cameras on the back, they do have two of them in common. Samsung used the exact same sensors and lenses for the main and macro cameras on the two phones. A 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and 1/1.56-inch sensor size sits on both of these phones. That camera supports both PDAF and OIS.

The 5-megapixel macro camera is also located on the back of both phones, with an f/2.4 aperture. The third camera is different, though. The Galaxy A57 has a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit with an f/2.2 aperture and a 1/3.06-inch sensor size. The Galaxy A37 uses a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 1/4.0-inch sensor size.

The main camera performance is quite good, especially during the day, and basically the same across the two phones. Some details do remain a bit softer than we’d like, though. Their ultrawide cameras both do a good job but are a level below the main cameras. The Galaxy A57 tends to do a bit of a better job in low-light, but the difference is not that big. That 5-megapixel macro camera can be useful if the lighting is great, but OEMs really should start using 2-megapixel and 5-megapixel macro cameras.

Audio

Stereo speakers are included inside both phones. The speakers on the Galaxy A37 are a bit louder in comparison, though, in case you were wondering. The difference is minimal, though. The sound quality is good in general.

There is no audio jack on either of these two smartphones. You can still use their Type-C ports to connect your wired headphones, though. Alternatively, Bluetooth 6.0 is supported by the Galaxy A57, while the Galaxy A37 offers Bluetooth 5.4 support.

Apple has finally fixed Siri after 15 years. At least that’s what Apple wants us to think. A big part of Siri’s glow-up this year is actually Google’s Gemini models. Apple said in a media Q&A after the WWDC keynote that it distilled the Gemini models into Siri. Basically meaning that they trained their own models on Google’s Gemini models. So we’re going to see similar results, but with Apple still having an edge over Google.

This begs the question: Is now the time to switch from Android to the iPhone, since Siri AI is finally here? Let’s explore that question.

What Siri AI Actually Does Now

With iOS 27, Apple is introducing Siri AI, which is basically short for “Siri + Apple Intelligence”, and it’s a huge update for Siri, compared to what we’ve had on the iPhone for years. Here’s what’s new for iPhone users.

A big advantage that Siri AI has over other AI assistants on the iPhone is the personal context. Siri AI is able to understand what is on your screen, access broader web-based knowledge, and take actions across different apps, while also maintaining context across multiple prompts. That’s a huge upgrade from the old Siri, which could barely answer simple questions.

Siri AI is now able to pull information from your notes, messages, and calendar when you ask it for relevant questions. Like asking when your next flight is, Siri AI can pull this info from your calendar and let you know that it’s on July 2nd to London, for example.

It can also create shortcuts for you. The Shortcuts feature on Apple’s products is very powerful, but it’s not very user-friendly. And that’s where AI can come in and make things much easier. Describe a Shortcut you want to make to Siri AI, and it’ll create it for you.

Finally, there is now a Siri AI app. Essentially making it like ChatGPT, or Gemini on your iPhone. This app will house all of your conversations with Siri AI from around the operating system. From the camera to the drop-down from Dynamic Island, and even directly in the app.

This is all being done while prioritizing your privacy, too, with Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. So you don’t have to worry about your Privacy being compromised.

Android Already Has All of This

This all sounds cool, but Android already has all of this. And that shouldn’t come as a surprise, since Apple is using Gemini’s models to train its own models for these features.

Android already has on-screen awareness, cross-app actions, conversational back-and-forth, personal context, and much more. This is really more about the iPhone catching up to what Android has, specifically what the Google Pixel has.

That’s a common theme with WWDC, is that Apple is adding a boatload of features that Android already had. A big reason for this is that Apple really only releases new software once a year, while Google is doing it four times a year, on top of pushing a lot of their new features into apps that are part of Feature Drops. In fact, we just had an Android Feature Drop last week.

Where the iPhone Actually Has an Edge Now

So why would you even entertain switching to the iPhone? Well, Apple does still have an advantage over Android – a couple of them actually. And the one that most people are going to care about is privacy.

Apple is still using its hybrid approach to keeping on-device tasks on Apple Silicon, while only routing heavier requests to Gemini through Private Cloud Compute. This was first announced with Apple Intelligence two years ago. Private Cloud Compute is really interesting because the data is processed but not stored, keeping your data private and secure. Giving it a much more privacy-forward implementation versus Google’s cloud-first approach.

Then there’s the walled garden, which we hear about all the time with Apple. Because Siri AI is available and syncs across all of Apple’s products – Mac, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, etc – it really improves the user experience. While Google does do this already with Gemini, Siri AI is going to be much more tightly woven into all of Apple’s products.

Finally, the shortcuts. Being able to tell Siri AI the shortcut you want to make, and it just makes it, is genuinely a huge feature. And arguably the one where AI is useful.

The Catches You Need to Know Before Switching

If you are legitimately thinking about switching, there are a few things you need to know. Siri AI is not available on all devices, and it is not available in the EU and China (for now). Apple is still working with the EU on getting Siri AI working in that region and abiding by the DMA. Siri AI is only going to be available on the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, the entire iPhone 16, and iPhone 17 series. But only the iPhone Air, 17 Pro, and Pro Max will get the full experience.

Additionally, Siri AI is only going to be available in English at first, and it’ll still be in beta when iOS 27 launches this Fall.

So Should You Actually Switch?

Deciding to switch is actually a fairly big deal. You’re going to be learning a whole new OS, as well as getting used to using different apps. And if you’re a big Google ecosystem user, there could be a learning curve. However, Google’s own apps are generally better on iOS than they are on Android, surprisingly.

It was a similar move by Apple in 2020 that got me to finally switch to the iPhone, and Apple has held me captive ever since. At the time, I was bored of Android, as someone that has reviewed virtually every flagship phone since 2012, it was time for a change. And Apple adding in the app library, as well as MagSafe on the iPhone 12 series, got me thinking about switching. And I believe Siri AI might have the same effect on people this time around. That’s if it actually works as advertised.

Artificial intelligence is moving fast from basic conversational tools to highly autonomous systems. The head of Microsoft‘s AI division knows exactly where the industry is heading. In a long interview with The Verge, Mustafa Suleyman, the CEO of Microsoft AI, left some pretty interesting headlines, like his belief that true software superintelligence is no longer a distant sci-fi fantasy. Rather, it is actively approaching the tech industry’s immediate horizon.

While it may sound very optimistic, Suleyman clarified that his perspective is not built on mere speculation. Instead, it’s based on empirical data tracking more than a decade of compounding technological progress. Over the last fifteen years, the underlying transformer-based models powering the industry have experienced a massive trillion-fold increase in computing power.

What does true superintelligence actually mean?

Terms like artificial general intelligence (AGI) and the technological singularity frequently muddy public discourse. However, Suleyman distinguishes true superintelligence through two distinct breakthroughs. First, the software must demonstrate an ability to actively invent entirely new knowledge. Instead of simply summarizing or reorganizing human data libraries, a superintelligent system will possess the cognitive capacity to make original scientific discoveries and teach us concepts we do not yet comprehend.

Second, a superintelligent system must master autonomous self-improvement. This means the model can independently formulate hypotheses, create its own targeted training datasets to test those parameters, and eventually redesign its own underlying code to accelerate its development.

Anxious about automation? Your job is likely safe

Naturally, a word as weighty as ‘superintelligence’ triggers mass workplace automation and job displacement anxiety. However, Suleyman has a more optimistic view of what this technology means for the workforce. While admitting that AI capabilities are advancing at a breakneck pace, he predicts a future in which specialized AI assistants will work alongside humans, not replace them.

That’s why Microsoft’s new, independent Superintelligence team is diving straight into improving these agentic workflows. The goal is to create digital sidekicks that are extremely dependable and can lessen administrative overhead by performing multi-step tasks. This shift frees human workers from routine data processing tasks so they can concentrate their energies on strategic supervision, creative fine-tuning and qualitative judgment.

As many of you know, yesterday was a big day for Apple. The company hosted a WWDC 2026 keynote, which not only served as a way to announce a bunch of new features but it’s also the last WWDC with Tim Cook as Apple’s CEO. During the keynote, Apple announced iOS 27, along with a bunch of features that it will come with. The all-new Siri is a part of it, of course, and arguably the biggest announcement of the show.

We’ve already talked about features that Apple decided to borrow from Android, in one way or another. In this article, we’ll list a bunch of features in general that were added to iOS 27, the ones that caught our eye the most. There are some very interesting and useful additions here. They’re listed below in no specific order.

All-new Siri AI

Apple has been mocked for its subpar AI for quite some time now. The company learned a lesson, it seems, and decided to rely on Google, kind of. New Siri is powered by Apple’s new Foundation Models, but those models were built with Google, and Gemini was used for them. So… you see where we’re going with this. It comes with a bunch of new capabilities, and it’s much smarter than before, not to mention that a dedicated Siri AI app has been announced as well.

Performance improvements

All the improvements under the hood are probably our favorite addition in iOS 27. The Platform Stability part of the update is already noticeable in the beta build of iOS 27, so we’re expecting an even bigger improvement once the stable build comes knocking. The whole UI feels considerably snappier than iOS 26, we’ve noticed that straight away. Apple says that app launches will be 30% faster, AirDrop transfers 80% quicker, and loading new snaps in Photos 70% faster.

New photo editing options

With iOS 27, Apple announced improvements to some of its photo-editing features and also added some new ones. Clean Up is an existing feature, but it did receive a major upgrade here. It will help you remove distractions in a more realistic way. In addition to that, Apple added Extend and Reframe tools. The Extend tool uses AI in order to expand your image outside of its bounds, in case you’d like it to offer a wider FoV. It can create the surrounding environment. Reframe, on the other hand, can basically change the point of view of an image, as if you were shooting from a different angle.

Apple’s Magic Cue & Circle-to-Search

Apple basically added a Magic Cue-like feature with Apple Intelligence. This will be available in a number of first-party apps, such as Messages, Phone, and Photos. Depending on what’s on screen, you’ll get intelligent suggestions. So, for example, if you’re agreeing to meet with someone, this feature will be able to set a reminder for it and add it to the calendar. That’s just one example. Circle-to-Search is also here, as you’ll be able to search the contents of the screen, basically.

Shortcuts app gets an AI boost

Apple’s Shortcuts app is loved by many, but it could be a bit too complex for some. Well, thanks to a new update, that may no longer be the case. Thanks to iOS 27, you’ll be able to describe the shortcut you want using natural language. Needless to say, this is much easier than adjusting everything manually, and it may get more people to use the app.

Safety features for kids

Apple did offer such features in iOS 26, but the company is now expanding on it. Two new features are called ‘Ask to browse’ and ‘Ask to buy’. They basically allow parents to allow their kids to browse sensitive topics or approve online purchases. Apple also revamped Screen Time for children’s accounts. You can now set custom timers for select app usage categories, plus you do get more information as part of the update.

Liquid Glass slider

Many people like Apple’s Liquid Glass UI design, but there are some who are not fans, like yours truly. Well, Apple just announced something that I personally appreciate very much. The company announced a slider that will allow you to control the opacity of Liquid Glass. You can make it as transparent as you’d like or make it a plain color. It goes from “ultra clear” to “fully tinted”. The latter option basically removes the effect, as mentioned earlier.

Safari improvements

Apple’s Safari has also received a boost in this update. It received a new tool that helps it manage excessive tabs. It is Apple Intelligence-powered, and it bundles up related tabs together. Safari will also create dedicated tab groups that can be opened later. A feature called ‘Notify Me’ will allow Safari to monitor tabs you’ve closed for any relevant changes. You can also vibe-code extensions for Safari now, kind of. All you need to do is explain, in natural language, what you want Safari to do.

Accessibility features

With iOS 27, Apple also announced a new on-device subtitle generator for your personal videos. The OS will automatically generate captions for your videos that are in the Photos gallery. The same goes for the video you watch online, actually. This new feature utilizes Apple’s new on-device speech recognition model.

At WWDC 2026, Apple unveiled iOS 27, its upcoming update to its iOS platform. It comes with the usual stuff you’d expect from a major update, such as new features, improvements to existing ones, refining of the UI, and so on. But what’s interesting is that in the iOS 27 beta, there are hints of Apple’s foldable iPhone.

Foldable iPhone hinted at in iOS 27 beta

This is according to a post on X by designer/engineer Sam Henri Gold, where he discovered references made to the foldable iPhone in the iOS 27 beta. Based on his findings, the beta mentions “foldState” and “angleDegrees,” which definitely sounds like references to a foldable device.

If this was discovered in macOS, you could assume it might refer to the opened or closed state of the MacBook laptop. But within iOS, it’s safe to assume that it refers to the foldable iPhone. In the comments section, developer paytondev pointed out how Apple announced that iOS now supports window resizing.

It was initially advertised as a feature for iPhone Mirroring or iPhone apps running on the iPad. However, we think it’s a pretty safe bet that it could also make its way into Apple’s foldable iPhone. While the foldable iPhone will most likely run on iOS, Apple could create a special version that makes full use of the larger display, so resizable windows makes a lot of sense.

Coming this September

That being said, this is probably the closest Apple has come to acknowledging it is working on a foldable. According to the rumors, Apple will call the device the iPhone Ultra. It is expected to arrive this September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. What’s interesting is that this iPhone could have the smallest display Apple has made in years.

This is because based on the rumors and leaked dummy units, Apple is approaching foldables differently. Instead of going for a device that has a more traditional smartphone-sized outer display, Apple wants to focus more on the inner device, which apparently unfolds and looks more like an iPad mini. As a result, the cover screen will be smaller than what we’ve seen on iPhones in a while. 

It won’t be cheap, though. Last we heard, Apple is aiming for a price tag around the $2,000 mark.

Marshall has just announced a new speaker. The name of the speaker is Stockwell III, and as its name says, it’s the third generation of that speaker. Those of you familiar with Marshall’s products will know this is a portable speaker series.

The company says that this is “a true upgrade in every sense”. The Stockwell III offers over 40 hours of playtime on a single charge, which is double what its predecessor was able to offer.

You’ll also be getting True Stereophonic 360-degree sound. Marshall says you can place this speaker anywhere in a room and it will deliver “powerful, all-round audio.” Dynamic Loudness takes care of keeping the bass, mids, and treble balanced at any volume.

At lower volumes, bass and treble are heightened to maintain the details and clarity of a song, says Marshall. Things naturally level out as the volume rises.

Now, in terms of the design, this speaker is easy to recognize as one of Marshall’s products. It is very slim, and it has a guitar-inspired PU leather carry strap. Velvet lining is also a part of the package.

As many of you know, Apple’s WWDC 2026 kicked off yesterday. Apple had plenty to say during the keynote, as a major Siri boost was announced, alongside a number of other improvements that iOS 27 will bring. As is usually the case, Apple borrows Android features for iOS year-in, year-out. Don’t get me wrong, Google is not innocent in the matter, as Android also borrowed some things from iOS in the past. It’s normal and not a reason to get upset at all, of course.

It’s always interesting to see what features the companies choose, though. This time around, we highlighted a handful of features that Apple brought to everyone’s attention, which are already a part of Android in one shape or the other. There are not many of them in general, but there’s always something. So, let’s see what Apple “borrowed” this time around.

Magic Cue, is that you?

Google announced the Magic Cue feature last year, with the Pixel 10 series. It was one of the best features added back then. It provides you with contextual, proactive assistance without requiring you to switch between apps. Well, Apple decided to offer something very similar with iOS 27.

Apple Intelligence is getting integrated into multiple apps from the company, at least at first. It’ll be available in your Messages, Photos, Phone, and Calendar applications. AI, much like Magic Cue, will be available to understand what’s going on at any given time and then offer contextual suggestions to help you.

What does that entail? Well, it’ll be able to provide you with relevant information during phone calls, for example. It will also be able to set reminders for you when sending messages. If you’re planning to meet with someone, it will offer to set a reminder for you. It will also be able to update calendar invites for you and more.

Photo editing features

Apple has also announced new AI editing features. Those are also features that Google has already announced and are available in Android. We’re talking about Extend and Reframe tools specifically here. The ‘Extend’ tool allows you to expand an image beyond its limits. So this is not your regular cropping; AI can create context outside of your image limits, in case you need more room.

What about Reframe? Well, a new spatial Reframe feature allows you to use AI to reframe images. For example, if you want the photo to be a bit more symmetrical, this feature can help you with that. Another example is if the subject looked in the wrong direction at that very second. You can essentially drag photos to adjust the perspective, as if the camera has been repositioned.

AI?

The biggest announcement of the whole keynote was the new all-new Siri. Apple said that the new Siri AI is powered by Apple Intelligence. However, new Apple Intelligence is powered by Google’s Gemini models (kind of); in other words, it was trained using Gemini. Apple, being Apple, did not really go into that, and we’re hoping that we’ll get more answers in the coming days, as more details get unravelled. However, new Apple Intelligence was trained using Gemini models; that much we know.

Granular volume controls

With iOS 27, Apple is adding a volume-related feature that Android has had for years. With iOS 27, you’ll be able to adjust volumes for ringtone, alerts, and alarms independently. You will also be able to enable the ‘Match Ringtone Volume’, if you’d like to have all three volume settings be the same at all times. It’s not a mind-blowing feature, but it’s certainly appreciated. This always frustrated me when I used iOS, that’s for sure, so it’s nice to see the change… finally.

Ahead of next month’s launch event, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 have all been certified by different regulatory agencies. The FCC in the US has certified the Galaxy Z Flip 8, which means the other devices should follow very soon. While China has certified the watches.

Typically, certification like this is a giant nothing-burger, but this does mean that we are getting closer and closer to these devices launching. Rumors are pointing towards Samsung holding Unpacked around mid-July, which is about a month away now. And typically, these devices do go on sale pretty quickly after.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is going to use the model number SM-F776U here in the US. Which is slightly different from the SM-F7760 we saw in China. As usual, the FCC certification doesn’t give us a lot of juicy details, but we do know that it will use several cellular network capabilities, including GSM, WCDMA, LTE, 5G, and NB-NT N B255. Nothing that is that surprising.

And the same goes for the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in China. They’ve been certified by China’s 3C, and do show that both watches will use 10W wired charging, the same charging speed as their predecessors.

Unpacked kicks off next month in London

According to the latest leaks about Samsung’s Summer Unpacked event, it’s set to take place in London next month. This is where we will see a boatload of new devices launched by Samsung. Including the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and possibly the new smart glasses that were teased at Google I/O.

It’s going to be a pretty busy Summer for Samsung this year. As there are going to be even more releases around September and IFA.

Android Auto is an essential tool when you’re on the road. It minimizes distractions and keeps your hands on the wheel. It lets you safely use your phone for calls, messages, music, and, most importantly, Maps for navigation. The latter is invaluable and may be one of the main reasons many use Android Auto. However, it seems an annoying Google Maps bug that gets stuck in day mode at night has left many Android Auto users frustrated.

Google Maps on Android Auto automatically switches between day mode and night mode. Dark theme kicks in as soon as the car’s headlights turn on. This, however, can vary depending on the car’s setup if you’re using an aftermarket head unit. However, it seems a bug is suddenly disrupting this switch.

9to5Google reports seeing intermittent reports of Google Maps for Android Auto getting stuck in day mode at night in the last couple of months. However, it seems like more users are facing this issue in the past few days. Rightly so, there are multiple reports on Google’s forums and Reddit in the past week. They claim that the Google Maps app doesn’t switch its theme at night.

It’s likely because of a beta update

It appears that the issue is only happening on Android Auto and isn’t specific to any one phone or vehicle brand. Since several reports are from beta users, it’s likely because of a beta update (whether Maps or Android Auto). But then, the issue appears too widespread to affect only beta users. Reports are coming from Android Auto 17.0 and 17.1, with the former having rolled out in stable late last week.

It’s possible you could fix the problem by rolling back to a previous version of Android Auto by uninstalling updates. But then, Google needs to enter the scene and fix this for users.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 owners are complaining about poor battery life following recent updates. The phone had solid battery life from the get-go, if you take into account that its battery capacity is very modest. That’s no longer the case, it seems.

A bunch of annoyed users went to Reddit to complain about the battery life following the updates. One UI 8.5 on specific seems to have started the whole thing, or so it seems.

Some users on Reddit even claim that their battery life has been cut in half. Others claim that they now have to charge the battery twice a day. Folks over at 9to5Google also noticed the decline, claiming that the phone’s battery drained around 30% in just two hours.

In that time, the device was “barely even being used”, except for the fact it was streaming podcasts via wireless earbuds and connecting to Android Auto. That sounds horrible, in all honesty.

We cannot attest to any of these issues, as we haven’t been using the Galaxy Z Fold 7 recently. There are quite a few reports to consider here, and the battery life really does seem to be considerably worse than it was.

The phone never had great battery life to begin with, but it seemingly got much worse

The phone never had great battery life, and it could never compete with some other heavy-hitters in the book-style foldable market. Those phones use silicon-carbon tech and have much better battery life in general. Phones such as the OPPO Find N6, for example.

This is still quite a change compared to what the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s battery life used to be. It used to be alright, bearable, if you’re not expecting much. As there’s only so much juice a 4,400mAh unit can provide to a large foldable. Things took a turn for the worse, though, it seems.

As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are right around the corner. They’re expected to arrive in July. Let’s hope Samsung will do something about the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s battery life before then, as this is definitely not good advertisement for the company’s next-gen foldables.

OpenAI is gearing up for the most radical evolution of ChatGPT since the software initially triggered the generative AI boom. According to a report by Financial Times, the company plans to systematically move away from the question-and-answer setup. Instead, OpenAI wants to transform ChatGPT into an action-oriented “superapp” focused heavily on autonomous AI agents and professional software development tools.

This move is the product of an evolving AI scenario. A senior OpenAI employee reportedly summed up the company’s new direction by stating that “chat is dead.” The phrase reflects a growing consensus within the organization that the next major frontier of tech valuation belongs to automated systems that actively execute workloads.

The anatomy of the “Aria” superapp

The alleged overhaul, internally codenamed Aria, aims to unify distinct product categories under a single interface. Over the coming weeks, the redesign will roll out across ChatGPT’s website and mobile applications. It will aim to fundamentally change how users interact with the software. Thibault Sottiaux, who now oversees core products and platforms at OpenAI, noted that the ultimate goal is to build a highly personal agent capable of helping users across every aspect of their daily lives, both personally and at work.

To guide the massive user base toward complex tasks, the new layout will prominently showcase OpenAI’s Codex. The interface will feature interactive shortcuts that steer individuals away from basic conversation boxes and toward coding parameters, complex image generation, and third-party partner applications. Major external integrations from companies like Canva and Booking.com are slated to launch directly inside the interface. They will allow the assistant to handle actual commerce, travel booking, and productivity pipelines.

Streamlining for the Wall Street debut

This architectural shift is also a calculated financial maneuver. As OpenAI moves closer to filing a confidential initial public offering (IPO), demonstrating sustainable monetization models to investors has become an absolute priority. Financial reports suggest the company is projected to lose $14 billion this year despite bringing in massive revenue, primarily because only a tiny fraction of its 900 million weekly users actually pay for a subscription. OpenAI hopes to transition casual consumers into premium subscribers by embedding tools like Codex directly. Winning over lucrative enterprise accounts is another vital piece of the puzzle.

Competing with Anthropic

OpenAI is ruthlessly shedding what internal teams classify as side projects. The company recently closed down its Sora video-generation platform entirely to redirect every ounce of corporate resource and compute power toward this agentic superapp platform. The structural reorganization also directly answers the explosive growth of its chief rival, Anthropic. Claude’s parent company targeted corporate workflows from the beginning.
