Google IO Tab 10.1 Update

Hello there!

If you are one of the proud owner of Galaxy Tab 10.1 Limited Edition from Google I/O 2011, its time to do another update for your shiny white tablet.

Not much details about this update, but it enables Google Movie and nothing else. No Samsung TouchWiz nor Android 3.2 in sight yet.

Just go to the usual Settings | About Tablet | Update and you will found this:

We are not sure why Pulse icon/widget would interfere, but better to be safe than sorry. The actual installation took about 10 minutes, ended with this notification:

Gingerbread Keyboard On Froyo

If you’re using Android phone, fat chances are – just like me – you’re using Android 2.2 also known as Froyo. According to Android Device Dashboard, we correspond to 51.8% of the whole android population

Now most of you should have heard about Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It has been released, but so far its only officially available on Nexus S and other unreleased devices. One aspect that we really like about Gingerbread is the new keyboard. Well, guess what – there’s now an easy way to make it available for Froyo devices, no root access needed. Just download, install and boom – it works just like that on my TMobile G2.

Here are the three easy steps:

go to Android Market and install Keyboard from Android 2.3 by Steven Lin
go to Settings, Language & keyboard – then activate Gingerbread Keyboard
on an input area, hold down and change Input Method – choose Gingerbread Keyboard

Enjoy your new keyboard. Its way more accurate and responsive, and looks much nicer too.

Pretty neat huh! You can support the developer by buying the 0.99 donation version on the market.

More Angry Bird for Christmas

Well, to be politically correct – Rovio call it Angry Bird Seasons. So season’s greetings everyone! See you guys after we finished playing the whole 25 new Christmas levels =D

Oh, and if you can get that done – we also get extra 45 levels from Halloween special edition that the iPhone people had earlier…

But relax, unlike iPhone… we get all these for FREE! See ya, we uh.. gotta make these all three stars.

Angry Birds Seasons Available For Android
Today, we bring you Angry Birds Seasons, a special edition spin-off of Angry Birds!

Season’s Greedings consists of 25 daily surprises for fans of Angry Birds to enjoy while counting down the days until Christmas.

Included in the game is also the 45-level Halloween special edition, now packaged as a separate episode called Trick Or Treat.

Angry Birds Seasons is available for Android devices through GetJar and Android Market.

Payment option and performance upgrades to follow
We are still working on two things for the Angry Birds games on Android:

First, we are bringing a graphically lighter option in the game, to enable better performance on older phones.

Second, we will introduce a payment system to opt-out of advertising.
Both of these upgrades will be included in later updates.

Here Comes The Really Angry Birds!

Ladies and gentlemen, after a period of beta testing time – the full version of Angry Bird are now available for FREE!

The game runs on newer hardware running on Android 1.6 and above. It will be distributed through multiple platforms: GetJar, Android Market and Motorola SHOP4APPS. Rovio Mobile make the game free to make it available on as many mobile devices as possible, betting big on the potential of mobile advertisement.

And of course, for people who don’t like ads – Rovio will update the game with an option to opt-out ads and purchase the game.

Angry Bird Android Invasion

IT’S HERE. AND IT’S FREE. After an extended period of beta testing, Rovio is proud to present Angry Birds for the Android platform. First of all, we’d like to thank you for your patience.

Why is Angry Birds free on Android? We want to make Angry Birds available for as many people as possible. Previously, many people were experiencing problems in finding Angry Birds on Android Market, but now everybody can download the game on their device.

Angry Birds will run on second generation Android devices and upwards, with Android platform 1.6 or later. Your device needs to support OpenGL ES 2.0. QVGA display resolution is not supported currently, but we will add support for QVGA devices soon.

Angry Birds Android features mobile advertising. A future update will include the option to purchase and opt out of advertisements.

To get the game now, you can download Angry Birds on your device for free exclusively from GetJar (http://www.getjar.com/angry-birds). It will soon be available on the Android Market and Motorola SHOP4APPS, free of charge as well.

TMobile G2 Hands On Review

After months of waiting, finally we got TMobile G2 in our hand!

We know for sure that this is Google phone, because the box is full of Google logo, Google apps logo, and all Google apps are preinstalled on the machine. Check out the screenshot on the gallery below.

At this moment, we’re uploading the unboxing video to Youtube. So stay tune, it should be up in about an hour!

[UPDATE] Holy smokes, this thing is FAST. The booting time is between 10-12 seconds, and on average we get 6-7Mbps download speed. Check it out on the gallery below.

[UPDATE] TMobile G2 multitouch capability is better than Nexus One. It doesn’t exhibit axis-pointer issue that Nexus One had. Using app called Multitouch Test and Multitouch Visualizer , we can also see that TMobile G2 can register up to 4 points. Sadly the Samsung Galaxy phones can do five finger, but four is definitely better than two that Nexus One and the original Droid has.

As of today, that-famous-iPhone-game is now also available on Android Market!!! If you haven’t play it before, you ought to try it. Its really addicting and useful to kill time whenever you’re bored. On the iPhone world itself, this game has been so phenomenal that it is sitting on the top spot of Apple App Store for a while.

Sadly, the game is only available to 2nd generation Android phone, so probably it wont be available for those who are still using Donut(1.6) and below.

The game is still in Beta, so please let us know what you think of the game. Is it going to rock the world just as its iPhone cousin does?

Samsung Galaxy Tab vs iPad vs Notion Ink

Today Samsung Galaxy Tab teaser site went live and its pretty much official that Samsung is going announce the tablet on September 2nd.

Looking at the specs that we know so far, its clear that Samsung Galaxy Tab is an iPad contender.

With Samsung on the verge of releasing their tablet, we’re wondering how does it compare to the long-awaited Notion Ink Adam? Spec-wise, Notion Ink is hard to beat. But as we all learn from the success of iPad, a great (and selling) product does not always determined by the features it offer. Marketing and timing is important. And so far, Notion Ink has been quite a disappointment. It is been too many months since we first hear the concept, delay after delay, and we’re not even sure if Q4 2010 date still valid next month.

So who win the battle? Samsung Galaxy Tab? Notion Ink? or is it still Apple iPad? You get to decide, check out this comparison table. Some specification are still marked as Unknown, but we will try to update it as soon as we hear more from Samsung.
