But, the red mask mysterious Priest is waiting for her in the waterfall. He’s trying to steal Zaruba from Jabi. He also seduces Jabi to join his league.

The bound of friendship is shown by the trust given to each other. Friends are not always near, but when the one needs help, the other run as fast as she can to help.

Rei has to deal with daughter-mother affair. The mother is possessed by horror. She treats her daughter over protectively but ends up hurting her with her super power. Though she’s not the mother she knew, the daughter keeps trying to protect this horror-mother like.

Knowing these two for long, Rei feels hesitate to cut her down. But, he’s a knight. And this is a job for a knight.

I enjoy the scene where Rei eats a lot of sweet stuffs. Cool guy doesn’t usually like sweet things, ha? It’s probably because sweet only makes him cuter. Sweet and cool just don’t fit together. But, I like guy who doesn’t have to pretend to be cool. It’s fine if you like cake. You’re still a strong protector, though.

Kouga brings Kaoru to the place where he inherited the title of Garo. It’s a very special place for him. So, it just the way to say that Kaoru is a very important person to him.

I call this episode as Kouga-Kaoru date. Kyaaa! There’s too much love in every scene I almost can’t handle it. This is the first time Kouga asks Kaoru to tell about her. See? When a man wants to know you more and more, it’s definitely love. So cute, especially when Kouga is the one who do it. lol

Make up is like magic for human, that’s what Leo say. Recently, people have been depending on make up too much. Not only the one they use everyday, but also by undergoing plastic surgery. Aren’t we also fall into the trap of horror?

Igari Juuzo is thirst of fighting stronger swordmen. Despite of having limited time due to his poor health, he keeps challenging swords masters. This desire attracts certain horror living in sword. It offers him a long live as long as Juuzo keeps bathing him with the blood of his opponent.

But, his last fight with a swordsman named Ukyo gave him a lot of damage. It took centuries to repair his body. Then, Juuzo wakes up in present day. Though he seems confused to his new surrounding, he keeps looking for strong guy. That’s when he encounters Rei fighting a horror.

He persistently asks Rei to fight him. But, Rei doesn’t cut human remember?

Yeah, Rei, I know how you feel. Nobody would feel comfortable being followed, moreover, by an old man!!! uuughhh

This time, Rei is our hero. He’s unsociable person. It must be hard for him to pass Kouga’s dinner invitation to jump into this warm-pretending dinner.

Ahh, Rei is such a lonesome person. It takes more that a season to fill his heart with trust.

But, the priests he wanted to meet turns into horror as soon as they got the pelt. See? This is where Kouga make use of himself!

Nothing’s gonna happen. Actually, nothing we can do to make sure the future. It’s in God’s hand. Aren’t we being rude for overtake the power?

But, due to contact with Leo’s blood, colt goes rampage. This is something a priest can’t deal alone. Kouga must take action.

Hmm, is it because he’s young that Leo feels like he needs to proof himself to Kouga? Yup, we’re all did.

At the same time, a horror possesses a woman who seduces men with her beauty. She collects those stupid people to satisfy her hunger of being center of attraction.

While tracing her nest, Kouga stumbles upon Kaoru. She’s trying to find idea for her book when she saw a magical fish flying. She follows it without knowing that it leads to danger.

Yay, even that the series just started, I can feel how much Kouga feels for Kaoru. He even names the fish as her name. Awwww, that’s too sweet.

A guy steals a zippo from old shop. But, it’s not an ordinary lighter. Burnt and seen the hardship of war, the lighter pulls human’s desire to crush others. This man turns monster after surrounding himself to the lighter.

This is a mission for Kouga. As always, he wraps it fast. But, there’s someone watching him slashing the horror. That mysterious mask guy attacks Kouga. He leaves him a seal of destruction on Kouga’s chest. The seal means that his days are left counted.

This is my first encounter of Garo Makai Senki. I never expected a tokusatsu to be this mature. yup, this is not for kids, people. Moreover, I do believe that all tokusatsu are not for kids. What are you going to teach your children with that? That you can call ikemen hero whenever you’re in pinch? That you can get away whenever monstrous creature stands on your way?

Kouga is chasing horror that use words as gate, Sein Bale. Turning into letters, this horror is easily transformed. Kouga is still confused to find the best strategy to defeat it when Rekka pops behind him.

I have impression that Kouga is being easy on Rekka, like inviting her to train together. He treats her like Makai Priest. Well, like Zero, actually. Dame da yo, Kouga! This is exactly what brings jealousy to other Priest, including Leo. Well, it’s Makai Priest who made the line from the start. Jealousy over fighting duty of Makai Knight has brought many Makai Priests into inferior state. They are supposed to be partner, right?

Sein Bale attacks Kaoru in publishing office, but Kouga and Rekka save her in time. Kaoru comes to knowledge of Kouga’s deteriorating condition due to the seal of destruction. It’s painful for both of them, but they decide to be strong for each other.

This is the time for me to cry. As I look at them, both are craving to be holding, but they’re being hard for themselves. Yeah, it has no meaning to be snob and cry over thing, they decide to move on and live life the fullest.

No Leo in this episode, I mean, I can’t see his cute face under the red mask. Makes me a little bit sad. hiks hiks

A new teacher comes to the school. She's pretty, but she doesn't seem care about the student or education. Ha, such a careless teacher. Utsugi Haruka sensei is invited to fill the empty post left by Sonoda sensei. Even in career counceling, she doesn't give a damn no matter how ridiculous Yuki, Kengo dan Gentaro wrote on their career papers. Yuki wants to be astronaut, Kengo doesn't mind to repeat a year due to lack of attendance and Gentarou can hardly choose a job. These trio are troublesome, just like the Principal said.

But, it doesn't matter anyway. It's their choices, not hers. She seems to hate this job so much.

At the same time, a new zodiart has been attacking karate club. The monster seems to be the type who pursue strength. It keeps challenging any martial art club, even Libra is attracted.

Here's when Miu shout an idea. She wants Shun to be the bait to lure the monster. Ah, can you imagine how Shun feels? He's trying hard to be a dependable person. Unlike the old Shun, he's now care more to please Miu. Aaaah, could this be a true love???

Episode 5

{How does it feel to not exist?}

HYAAAAH! Mukatsukuuu! Everybody is keeping secret from Sakakibara, yet they told him that something unpleasant will happen to him. How irresponsible they are: classmates, the teachers and even his aunt.

What’s killing me more is that they force Sakakibara to take that “unpleasant” thing as the part of sacrifice. He’s the lamb given to save everyone else’s asses. Great. Why don’t they just tell him and cooperate to pass the bad lucks?

Well, looks like I’m not the only one thinking about it. Takabayashi also thinks that the rest of class treats Sakakibara unfairly. He offers him any information. But, Takabayashi died in front of him before he got chance to spit anything.

And now talking to Sakakibara is forbidden. A new class rule that is!

As Sakakibara is a “non exist” creature, Misaki Mei seems easier to talk to him. Yup, she’s also the victim the class. That’s a countermeasure to abnormal deaths that keep happening since 25 years ago. Treat somebody as nobody, then the class is save. They believe that the death 26 years ago has created anomaly that allow the dead to join the class. Since they treated died Misaki as part the class, anyone transferred to the class will make it outnumbered. Seems like Misaki’s existence should be preserve even after years. Weird accidents are happening to make the number of class fit again.

{Let’s be careful. Especially when unusual accidents are concerned}

As Sakuragi Yukari died in accident, the school is in crowd. It’s like a virus, contaminating everybody. People try to find excuse and linkage between the incidents with the 26-year legend. Students believe that the curse will take class 3 one by one every single month.

Sakakibara consults Nurse Mizuno about Misaki Mei. She promised to ask her brother who goes to the same class about it. But, Mizuno trapped in elevator when she checks on Sakakibara before it crashes to the ground. Sakakibara is panic, because before she died, Nurse Mizuno reported that there’s no a girl named Mei in his class.

So, who’s Mei?

Ok, so far there are two accidents and both are not normal for me. I mean, not like the normality incident, more like they put too much effort to make fantastic deaths. Well, it’s a horror anyway.

There are many rumors about what happen 26 years ago, but the idea is clear: this class is cursed. Though the rest of the class look normal, they’re having wariness inside. Misaki tells him many things, including the story of 26 years ago. It’s weird.

Even Sakuragi Yukari, the class rep, doesn’t want to spell her name. She seems so frightened when Sakakibara asks her about Misaki. Why does people act like Misaki isn’t there?

Sakakibara follows Mei to a doll’s shop named “Studio M” where he finds a doll that looks exactly like the girl. YAAAAY! I'm starting to think that Mei is actually doll???? Hiii

Sakakibara Koichi has to be hospitalized as soon as he moved to his mother’s hometown. He’s supposed to join the Class 3 in Yomiyama Kita Chuu this weekend, but the disease delays him. 3 Class representatives come to visit, giving him a chill seeing their weird attitudes. But, they’re nothing compared to a girl he met in elevator. Holding doll carelessly, she stops at mortuary room. Is there somebody die?

Judging from the first encounter, Sakakibara should’ve known how dangerous the girl is. But no! He even gets attracted to her! Stupidity lies in every man whenever they see cute girl. At the same time, his metropolitan’s instinct may forbid him from taking every weird countermeasure. Ah, this is what my boss said, “Even positive assumption can be wrong”

Kengo is still mad. Even when the magphone Sakuta made failed to finish the dragon monster, Kengo refuses to help improve the switch. He decides to quit Kamen Rider Club. But, it doesn't mean that Kengo doesn't care. He can't stop thinking about Fourze. Ahhh, they're so cute.

Both are always thinking about each other.The truth is Gentarou wanted to share Kengo's burden by asking Sakuta to help improving switch. He never thought that it would hurt his pride. At the same time, Kengo forbids Fourze to use unfinished switch that would hurt Gen.

Their friendship is like magnet. When they both put the same ego, the magnets reject each other. But, when they put different power into one, they become amazing!
When you're their age, having peers is an absolute need. You need to be together wherever and whenever. Alone is so lonely.

And here's what I thought. They need to wait until they got older. Adult's friendship is totally different. When you grow older, you don't have to hand in hand (literally, I mean) anywhere. You may need to go on separate way, but you're still friends. Togetherness melt into heart.

Why do people download scanlation?

The shouts have become louder and louder recently as America tried to put barrier on internet. Piracy is bad and it cut the money flow-mostly for distributors. That’s what they say. But, in reality, piracy is just a reactive act from what’s happening in the world.

Otaku keeps downloading manga and fansubbers keep scanlating. Why?

1. The original came too late

The gap between Japanese version and local version lies too long. Take [Good Hand Teru] for example. While it’s running for its 38^thvolume in Japan, we’re still stuck in volume 12 here. It’s causing dissatisfaction. Remember what John Stacey Adams said about comparing yourself with others then perceive that others receive more than you have you become dissatisfied.

2. Official translation is (sometimes) unfit

This is personal experience. I always buy the manga I like when it’s available in local bookshops. But, sometimes the translation is suck. I think some official translators need to learn Japanese’s custom to fit the context and not translating like goggle. I even suggest that translator should be an otaku, too!

3. Scanlation is preview

Scanlation is like commercial for fans before they decide whether to follow the series (and buy the original work if its available in nearest book store). Most of the comic books are wrapped in plastic here and I bet nobody wants to buy cat inside sack, right?

4. It’s cheaper

Thanks to the internet, it’s easier to see manga rather than going out to bookstore. Do you mind taking 8-10 MB zipped file every week? It sounds like a flash, ha?

5. The long tail effect

Chriss Anderson wrote it in his wonderful book called “The Long Tail” about how Internet expanding a product’s lifetime. Having manga in digital form preserves it in longer time. You can search anytime to get 20 years or older manga. But, what happen to real books? Unpopular manga is hardly get reprinting. The expansion stops by the time publisher decide to terminate it’s publishing.

Honestly, mangaka should thank fansubbers for expanding their works through the world. If it’s not because of them, fans all over the world may not recognize the manga. In my country, the original manga is released due to fans’ request after seeing the scanlation. See? The scans encourages publisher to release the tankoubon. Fansubber and fans are not mangaka’s enemies *distributors are!!*

We all should realize that we’re paying too much for each comic book we bought because of distribution. The flow of knowledge should follow communication advances. Based on local research, 60 percent from book’s price is escalating for distribution’s cost. Aren’t we paying too much? In this era of digitalization, distributor should change their strategies. Instead of screwing distribution, they should focus on making more and more content.

Solution?

Scanning manga is hard to stop unless:

There’s easier way to get manga, like providing original manga through the net. I believe otakus are willing to pay for it.
Less money required obtaining manga. It means cutting of distribution and third party.
The producers push merchandise business to support mangaka. Learn from tokusatsu series that made all profit by selling toys. In other word, expand the business.
