Petrossian Caviar Tasting

For anyone out there who's in need of a last minute Valentines' Day Surprise, Angela and I highly recommend a caviar tasting. If you're in NYC, stop in at Petrossian. We had the Prince Gourmet tasting which includes a trio of caviar 20 grams each of Royal Ossetra, Royal Trasmontanus, & Alverta President served with blinis, creme fraiche, & capers. If the weather is nice tomorrow, I suggest taking it to go for a picnic in Central Park.

New York Fashion Week...{Where to Dine}

While Angela and I are here in New York, taking in all the hustle and bustle that is Fashion Week, we've invited a few wonderful ladies to guest blog in our place. Today we have Monica of Le Chic World, sharing some of her favorite places to dine in NYC. We've already fallen in love with Westville and Buddakan, and can hardly wait to try out the other great eateries on Monica's list...

I loved living in the vibrant neighborhood of East Village, just a stone throw away from the many hole in the wall establishments along the East and Lower side of Manhattan as well as a short cross town subway ride from the more swanky up-market scene of Soho and the Meat-packing district.

With New York Fashion Week kicking off today, here are a few of the many places that I discovered as a local New Yorker and still love to stop by at every time I'm back in City..

Cafe Gitane ~ Nolita and also now in The Jane Hotel : Gourmet French Moroccan affair from petite dejeuner (French breakfast) to hearty roasted meats and vegetables straight from the oven. My favorite is the baked eggs. Gorgeous vintage and gilded interior takes you back to a semi Edwardian era.

Cafe Orlin ~ An East village local, hearty brunches and blueberry pancakes to die for, my favorite. YUM!

Buddakan ~ Asian fusion : The very chic place to be seen in the scene, the famous dining room as seen during Carey Bradshaw's engagement dinner in the SATC movie. Make sure to book in advance, this place is always busy for the obvious reason of it's allure grandeur and ambiance.

Extra Virgin ~ Authentic Mediterranean dining, brings the flavors of the Greek islands to the City whilst set in the very quaint West Village neighborhood (right by the famous Carey Bradshaw's house in SATC ).

Westville ~ Healthy and hearty American food, ..well as healthy as gourmet hebrew hotdogs can get, but honestly you should check out their daily organic green menu, they make eating vegetables very appealing..

Crosby Street Hotel ~ For English style afternoon tea with beautiful mix of vintage and new interiors a perfect place to roost after a long day of shopping...

..and finally, it seems the Melbourne coffee culture has reached all the way to New York, with the lovers of Espresso taking over the drip drinkers. Now more than ever the Flat White debate has placed one of my favorite Brooklyn, Aussie owned cafe's on the international map, making the meanest Flat white. You must check them out if you happen to get the chance to make it to Brooklyn.

And there you have it, a somewhat short list of the places you may want to stop by during your visit in NYC. Let's hope amongst the festivities of this weeks many moments of rushing from in between events along with the many of stunning size 2 models that will be gracing the runways, that we also get a moment to sit down and savor a meal or two.

Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference...New York City

We're back in the city we love and having a blast!!! We kicked things off by attending the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference and meeting all of our favorite bloggers. It was amazing to be there with so many talented and super fashionable people!!! We even got to take a peek at J Brand's very first ready to wear collection. Which you can check it out here.

When we left Milk Studios,there were a few snow flurries beginning to fall, so we popped in the Chelsea Market, for a glass of wine. It was so nice to relax and visit with our friend Michelle from Wear Luck. Can you tell how wired in we are...I know I see an ipad and two iphones on the table.

Courtney and I are often asked, "Isn't it hard to travel so much?" Yes it is. We miss our family, friends, and pets very much. We do have one little secret to making it a bit easier to leave our homes for extended amounts of time: find a home to stay in while you are away. Beware that searching for the perfect place can be very addictive. VRBO has been my go to source for many years, but there is a new player on the field, AIRBNB. You will find amazing choices on both sites.

Giving Bar Shampoo a Try...???

Have any of you tried a bar shampoo? We'll I haven't, but I'm taking the lead from Sharon, at What NYC Taught Me, and giving it a try. Why? Well,... instead of the liquid stuff in plastic bottles, people are making the change to reduce waste, so I'm giving it a go. I'll let you know what I think, in a couple of days. I'm very picky about my hair, so it's got to be a great product as well.

Angel Court SOHO Fashion Week Event...meet the ladies behind the event {Amy Flurry}

In just a few days, Angela and I will be heading to New York to work on the finishing touches for our upcoming fashion week event. It's going to be one part Jewelry bar and several parts old fashioned speakeasy. We're promising a night filled with delicious cocktails, gorgeous jewels and live music.

There are several awesome ladies who are helping us to make this event possible, and I will be introducing them to you, through out the week . A couple of them are even crazy enough to have signed on as our housemates for the week.

I'll start today by introducing you to Amy Flurry. When she's not writing for Lucky Magazine, Refinery 29 and various other publications, she is busy with her own endeavors. Amy's recent projects include her new book Recipe for Press (the DIY guide to being your own publicist) and the Paper Cut Project. She's also the mastermind behind the latest Angel Court photo shoot and film. Of course Amy tells her story best, so please enjoy the links I've provided to learn more about her work.

Dinner Party...{Yorkshire Pudding}

Here's a peak at last nights recipe challenge...Yorkshire Pudding with Bangers and Mash. A very English meal, that was perfect for a cold winter night. I got off easy bringing over the homemade mashed potatoes, while Kim made Yorkshire Pudding for the first time (it was delicious). Can you tell we're big fans of carbs and protein? YUM!!!

Did you know that if you mix potatoes too long, with an electric mixer, they will turn to the consistency of biscuit dough? I didn't until last night, but that's exactly what happened on my second batch {FAIL}. Good thing the first batch was extra yummy! Courtney

Hip Hip Hooray!!! The long anticipated weekend is finally here.

What will everyone be doing to celebrate their days off? My weekend ritual is getting together with friends and trying out new recipes. This week we'll be attempting Yorkshire Pudding. A very yummy English treat! I can hardly wait!!!!

Sleep No More

Angela and I are beyond excited to have tickets for Sleep No More. Have you heard of it? Everyone wears a white Venetian mask, while meandering through twisting staircases, spooky hallways, and even an apothecary filled with the aroma of herbs. What you say...well, its a reenactment of Macbeth, where you choose your own experience. As actors wander into a room, you may choose to follow then or head off to search another room or floor of the abandoned McKittrick Hotel. A bit like a haunted house, but way better.
