I LOVE home!  I probably love to be home too much, I am a real home body!  I love the way our family connects at home-the conversations, the food, the memories with the hubby/kids, reading great books together and even watching our favorite tv shows.  All of this happens at home and I am one blessed lady when it comes to the ones I share it with!  One of the things I always tell my kids is, no matter what they face in this world, Home will always be a safe place for them.  I pray my kids have nothing but great memories about home and we strive to make that happen here!   Home for me is these guys!

Have you ever wanted to know the best way to prepare and cut a pie, here are some great tips!

Some great tips on preparing your pie:

•  Slice Pie Like A Pro: To avoid a crumbly mess, start with a sharp chef’s knife, and store both the knife and a pie server in boiling water, thoroughly drying them before cutting into the pie. The water will heat the metal, so as you cut, the knife will slightly dissolve the sugars in the pie, making for a clean break. If you’re cutting multiple slices, precut the entire pie before using the pie server to scoop the pieces out of the tin.

• Transport Your Pie Without The Mess: The last ingredient you’d expect to pair with your beautifully baked cream pie is pasta, but just hear us out. Instead of risking a mussed-up whipped cream topping with a close-fitting cover during transport, stand a few strands of uncooked spaghetti or linguine in the pie and suspend a sheet of plastic wrap over the pasta. Don’t try this with toothpicks, which are likely to sink down into the pie.

• Ace The Final Presentation: Once your pie is ready, scoop it into ramekins and top with whipped cream, fruit toppings or your favorite sprinkles. Then, dust cinnamon over the fork and remove the fork. Lastly, plate the pie!

I just love making special memories with my children.  We can buy all kinds of things for our kids and indulge them in every way but it won’t be what matters, for a matter of fact it usually doesn’t help our kids too much.  What does matter is what we store in their memory banks.  The fun vacations or trips, camping, holidays, family nights, and more.  Christmas time is a wonderful time to make those wonderful memories and my kids have admitted hands down its the memories they love most about Christmas.  The Christmas music we play, the cookies we make, friends and family, the sharing of our faith and all of the other memories we make at Christmas.

I have recently learned about a new holiday tradition to make a special Christmas Family Tradition and I just love it!    It is called the The Christmas Web and it started in 1992 with the Grinkmeyer family.   They began putting wands in their kids stockings that has 70 yards of yarn on them. The yarn was wound through the house – around window latches, door knobs, chairs and doors.  It then ends in a closet or cabinet that held their special Christmas gift from one of Santa’s elves, an elf who had been looking out for them for the past year and knew of their desire for this special Christmas gift.

I was really impressed with the set they sent me.  The set came in a beautiful box that opens up and inside is three wands(which was great because I have three kids) and a beautiful illustrated book.  The wands are strong with lots of string (70 yards to be exact) and the book is an adorable story about the Christmas web.  I love that this is not just an activity for the young ones.  Teens will love this, even adults.  It is hard once the kids start getting older to find things that will impress them and this does just that.  I now have a teen and 2 tweens so I would know!

This set could also be used for Easter egg hunts, scavenger hunts, or birthday parties.  Even if Santa is not a part of your traditions you could use the web just as mom and dad and the kids would still have a wonderful challenge and lots of fun!

Right now at this moment I am living in way too much clutter!  I can’t stand it, it is depriving me of thinking straight.  I always feel so much better in a  decluttered space, clutter robs me of being efficient and steals my creativity.  I know some say they are more creative in messes but this is not me!  One of my spring goals is to go room to room and start my give away, sell, and throw away baskets.  I want to take everything off the shelves, floor and table tops and just get RID of stuff.

Spring time just feels like a natural time to clean and get rid of clutter.  It is great to get it done before summer hits and you want to be outside with your kids at the pool, at their games, vacations or park time.  Sometimes it can be really overwhelming especially if you have accumulated a lot of things but it is so worth it in the end.  Take your timer out and just set it for a set amount of time (amazing what 15 minutes does) and get working!
