A Day of Radiant Skin

Happy Saturday! Man it is a scorcher out there. Today I am definitely soaking up the rays and getting my tan on by the pool. However, for those days that I don't have the luxury to do this, I use a product that goes along with my bronzer which I posted about last week, and they are luminizers!

Luminizers are can either be creme based, or liquid. They can be applied all over the face, mixed with foundation, or used as a highlighter, over or under makeup. They can also be applied to your neck, shoulders, or decollete, bring out that little sun dress and I'll be all luminous and glowy!!

So one of my most used luminizer is the NARS Illuminator in Copacabana. It's a gorgeous light pink color which when applied to my face, enhances my complexion and creates this shimmering glow to my skin.

I Love Summertime!

Wow I can't believe it's already summertime! I can actually say that my winter coats will not be coming out of the closet for at least a couple months! lol and of course now that summer is here, I've brought out my summer essentials, I've needed to do a little update on my makeup routine. I usually don't wear foundation, just my BB Cream from Garnier which I blogged about, amazing. However, I like to make my skin glowy, bronzed, or sun-kissed. To get that look my favorites are Nars Laguna Bronzer,or Benefit Hoola. Add some highlight color like NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross on your cheekbones and you're good to go! So speaking of the summer and getting that "sun-kissed" look, tomorrow it's off pool for some real sun! Now while I love the sun and getting my tan on, I always make sure to wear sunscreen, especially on my face and lips. I'm loving Jergens Natural Glow and Protect SPF 30 for Medium to Fair Skin Tones Until next time, have fun in the sun!!

Wow today was a really long day for some reason. As I sit here and think about what the heck happened, my mind goes BLANK! So I found myself online, on youtube, makeup sites (Sephora thank you!), well you get the point.
Speaking of the internet, my new favorite site is Pinterest. I could literally be online looking at boards for hours. That's why I stay up when the kids are asleep surfing the net. No seriously, if you've never been to the Pinterest website, you should check it out. You can search for anything and follow different people and their sites, and well you get the idea.
Before I go get me some beauty sleep, I have a nighttime (or early morning for those nights I don't go to bed until like 4am ha ha), I use Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial by Korres. This stuff is amazing. I was hooked on the fact that I could wake up with petal-soft skin by morning. It contains 95% natural contents and is great on all skin types. I've been using it for about a month now, and their disclaimer is that in 14 days you'll see skin that's brighter, more even-toned, and exceptionally radiant. Well I can contest to that one hundred percent Finally, if I can't get my beauty sleep every night, at least I can get it from a jar!

Lets Get Our Makeup On!

Wow another week almost over, and another month over too! Soon school will be out for the summer and I have no clue what we are going to do. What do you guys have planned for the summer?
So this week I took Samantha on a little cosmetics spree. We went to Sephora, Sally's Beauty Supply, and the Cosmetics Company Store (at the Williamsburg Prime Outlet Mall). This little adventure for me was like being a kid in a candy store, literally lol. Samantha loved trying on lipsticks and eyeshadow (thank you Sephora) all the while this gave me a chance to get some beauty insight and inspiration, and what the hottest beauty trends are.
You know, I must have looked so goofy walking around these makeup stores with little Sam in tow, and a notebook in hand, jotting down makeup products and prices, trying on products, but hey, that's what these open makeup counters are there for. You gotta try before you buy right? LOL I did buy a few products which I will try out and mention in another post. So stay tuned for that.
Well on that note, I need to clean some makeup brushes and finish watching the Rachel Zoe Project, love that show!

Wow how time flies. It's already the middle of May! I knew things were flying by when we got a "class picture time" form sent home from our daughters school.
Passing the time is easy when you've got a lot on your plate. This week I decided to cut down on my to-do lists and really focus on what's important in my life. God. and my family. The laundry can wait!
As far as beauty fav to rant about, I have been using the Bliss cleanser for the past week and love it. It's very refreshing and not too rough since it does have some exfoliation. Also it smells amazing and it's the color blue, which reminds me of the water and wanting to go to the beach! Ha ha there goes my ranting!
So that's been a hit. I actually got a sample size bottle from Ulta just to "try out" and a little goes a long way. I use it just in the morning, at night have have my other skin care routine which I can explain and provide you the products I use as well.
Now that its' almost May 16, I am going to close for now. Tomorrow morning will be here before I know it!

Fridays beauty favorite is Garnier BB Cream!

Another Friday rolls around and it's finally sunny and warm here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays like this for at least a couple more days! Okay so I've heard a lot about BB Creams in the beauty world and wondered what the hype was all about. I have a great moisturizer, sunscreen, face primer already, so why would I use BB cream? Well I went to my local Target and found Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream. I was immediately excited to give this a try because its a "miracle skin perfector".
They have two different shades a light/ medium and a medium/deep shade. I chose the light/ medium shade for my skin tone. I still need a couple more days to give it my opinion, but so far I'm liking it!! Let's just say I've been using just this in place of my foundation. Now that's a nice way to simplify my morning beauty routine! I'll be back again with my final thoughts. But in the meantime, if your at Target or your local drugstore, take a sneak peak at the BB creams out there. You might just get this "miracle skin perfecter" in a bottle a life saver!

My new coffee fix!

What would I do without my Keurig coffee maker? I have no idea. I used to make a pot of coffee a day, but only drink like 2 cups out of it. The Keurig machine makes one cup of coffee at a time. They have tons of different flavored coffee, iced coffee, and even tea. I have also used my Keurig to heat some hot water for some of my herbal teas. So my coffee fix, is my Keurig fix! It's a definite must for someone who just wants a hot cup of coffee to drink now and then throughout the day or night. Here is my Keurig and a couple of my favorite K-cups. Pink Sand and Sparkly Shoes

  So lately the weather here has been so wishy-washy, no pun intended. One minute your in a t-shirt and jeans, the next your wearing your wool coat and mittens. It's crazy! Oh, we got the girls pink sand for their sandbox the other day at Walmart, yes pink sand! They love it. Plus it makes clean up a breeze because I can see where they dumped the sand in the grass by "mistake" lol.
  And speaking of pink, I found the cutest pair of sparkly ballet flats with hello kitty on it, at Target the other day, not for me of course (I'm bummed about that one!). This is the new "go to" pair of shoes at the moment. Little sis though wants in on the action and tries them on when big sis isn't looking. It's too cute. Just like trying on my heels, why is that little kids love dressing up in mommy's shoes? Oh wait, I did that too with my mom's shoes!
Well In the meantime, whether we wear our sandals or flats I am just ready for some dependable weather. Can the Easter Bunny really drop eggs in the yard if there is snow on the ground? Both kids said yes, haha.
  So enjoy the snow, rain, or whatever weather comes your way, and some sparkly shoes or a shot of pink can't hurt either! Angela

Sweet Saturday

Do you all have weekend rituals? Well our Saturday starts off usually with pancakes. They are mostly filled with fruit, but the occasional chocolate chips seem to sneak in there somehow! The girls devour them and ask for more, and sometimes I feel more like I'm at IHOP then in my kitchen! But it's a delight to spend my Saturdays with my family. It is very sweet playing Candy Land by the fireplace, watching Toy Story over and over, and playing outside when the weather is nice. Sometimes I have to remind myself that the cleaning needs to be put on hold, because what's most important is sitting in front of me.

So weekends are also a good time for me try new beauty products. Today I was looking for a goodess-like glow, a sun-kissed glow, and a perk-me-up radiance which I found in my Benefit Hoola Bronzer. The packaging is adorable too. It comes in a little box and has a brush inside, you can find these at most Ulta's and Sephora stores or online which I linked below. This collection by Benefit has other cheek products that guarantee a sweep of powder a day keeps the "wow you're gorgeous!" compliments coming your way. Now that's something to glow about!

Sleep, Story Time,and Beauty Item of the Day.

  Hi everyone, well I don't know about you guys but some nights I just have a really hard time falling asleep. Maybe it's because my thoughts wonder about what I need to do the next day, but it can really have an affect on my mood and performance the next day. So story time is a ritual we do with the girls before they go to bed, and hey it works for them! They get tucked in after a nice bath and calming story, and off to sleep. Then i cross my fingers that it stays like that!
  I think about this ritual and ponder what works for them might actual work for me too! So not every night do I take a bath, but after a bath or shower, I get a good book out, read till I can't keep my eyes open anymore then off to sleep I am. Plus it helps if I write my "to do" list on a piece of paper before I turn off the lights.
  So with that in mind, I must share a beauty item that seems to work wonders for me, and might work for you too. It's from Bath and Body Works and it's their Aromatherapy "Sleep" Lavender Chamomile Room Spray. Lavender helps you sleep, and Chamomile has a lulling effect. So I give a little spray and its amazing, and for only $4.50, its worth a shot. I'm also reading, like the girls before bed, the book Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. It's a love story yes, but Sparks adds a little element of danger to it too. I've heard its the kind of book that you plan on reading a few chapters, but then can't put it down. We shall see! I'll let you all know when i'm finished what my thoughts are about it.

Kids, clothes, and beauty item of the day

  Oh my goodness, so I am a huge hello kitty fan right, as some of you may know. Well, I went into H&M today just for kicks, and they have the cutest clothes for little girls, and boys too. Then as I was browsing this area, I came across a ton of hello kitty clothing for the girls. I mean seriously, how cute is a little hello kitty hat with ears, or hello kitty ballet shoes? Loved it. Took some pictures so the girls could see what crazy momma was all excited about. But for the woman's side of the store, they had really cute clothes too, but can't compare to all the hello kitty apparel for kids. And if your not a Hello Kitty fan, they have tons of other cute clothes for spring now, and for reasonable prices too.
  So besides clothes,one of my beauty essentials that I want to share is eyeshadow primers and bases. I like these because by applying them before your eyeshadow, it helps with creasing, and really just gives your eyeshadows more staying power, pretty much all day for me. All you do is use your finger and apply it evenly to the eyelids, then apply whatever eyeshadow you want. So of course I love MAC's Paint Pots especially in the color Painterly however, they are really pricey and just for an eyeshadow base. My alternative would be NYX's eyeshadow base eye shadow primer. They come in three colors, white, skin tone, and pearl. Personally, I like the Skin Tone color best. So these bases go on the same as MACs paint pots and are just as creamy but for half the price. You can find these at any Ulta store or of course online. I added a link to amazon where you can buy them and also where you can read what other people have to say, not just my opinion : )

Fireplaces, food, and beauty item of the day

  Ok so yes today was rather cooler than yesterday, but by 30 degrees! Yes it's crazy, such a tease I tell ya. But one thing I like about the winter weather is having a fire going in the fireplace. It is so calming and it just puts me right back into a great mood. Starting it on the other hand, takes some work!
  So totally off subject but do you all crave certain foods when the weather is cold? I do, and crazy as it is, I crave ice cream. Yes ice cream, please don't judge (haha). My favorite is actually really healthy for you and I get it at Kroger and it's called Organic So Delicious Dairy Free Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream. It's made with soy milk, chocolate and creamy organic peanut butter, oh my gosh, making my mouth water now! But anyways it's so yummy and good for you, a better alternative in my opinion to regular ice cream.   Besides food and fireplaces, if I am in a hurry, which normally I am in the morning, I don't have a lot of time to put a whole face on. But there is one thing I will remember to do if anything (besides spf) is to put on mascara. It really makes your eyes pop, and kinda pulls together that bed head, still tired look into a more polished one. My other non-related food crave was that I wanted to try out some colored mascara. The new Wonder Woman collection from MAC has some awesome colors but are way too expensive especially for just a mascara that you throw away in three months anyway. So I went to Walmart, and low and behold they sell the brand HARD CANDY there! Yes, and Essie nail polish, but that was an earlier post! So I got their mascara called Ginormous Lash volumizing mascara in electric blue. Its so pretty, and like 6 or 8 dollars too. It's one of those just for fun things I like to have around, depending on my mood i'll use that in place of my usually black mascara. Oh and to remove all that lovely mascara, on the sidebar is my fav eye makeup remover and it's at target!
  So that's my thoughts for today, I got my fire going, the last bit of ice cream is gone, and my blue lashes are a flashing! Have a great rest of the day or night, stay warm some of you, and talk to you all again soon! Angela

Presidents Day and Sigma Brushes

  Hey everyone, happy Presidents Day! Well tomorrows it's back to school time, I think we are all ready for that here! But today was beautiful out. It was nice to play outside and clean out the garage. I went to the store later today to get some laundry soap, and when I got back outside it was freezing! So just like that my nice warm weather day went cold. I knew it. Oh well, at least it was sunny and nice all weekend right.
  So for my beauty tip for the day, it's all about makeup brushes. I think that whatever type of makeup look you are going for, having the right brushes, well, they will do all the work for you. For instance, if you want to get your eyeshadow color in your crease, I use a crease brush. It's so much easier and applies right where I want it. And if I want to blend my eye look out I use a blending brush. So these are just some of the examples and just two of the brushes I use on a daily basis. I will get into more another time, and face brushes too. But makeup brush of course is MAC brushes, but they are very pricey. Therefore, an alternative to the MAC brushes that I found, and are of just as good quality, are the Sigma Brushes. Hey everyone! Sorry it seems like it has been forever since I last got on here. I have been really under the weather for the past 2 weeks. But i'm back on the scene, well rested, and full of fashion forward, gossipy news that I have been busily catching up on while I was immobile. Super Bowl Eve, things I need, and beauty bag item of the day.

Isn't it funny how we sometimes think about all the things we want to do in a day and then only accomplish some of it. Well today was one of those days. Maybe because it was rainy, or because I stayed at the library too long catching up on all my gossip. Anyway, I had a whole list of things I needed to prepare for tomorrows super bowl party. What I did manage to check off my list was grocery shopping at Kroger, oh and a little trip to Target (for hair coloring),and Sephora at JcPenny! Which leads me into the beauty bag item of the day. It's by Stila Cosmetics and it's called "Make Me Blush Palette". It is a lovely multi-color blush inspired by Valentine's Day Conversation Hearts (like the sweetheart box of candies).

The Make Me Blush Palette is embossed with a cute Conversation Heart design. The top layer is sprayed with the gold shine for visual. Once dusted off with a brush, you are left with an all over glow pressed powder that will add warmth, soft color, and sheer luminosity to cheeks and complexion. This is great for all skintones, and the micro-fine formula is velvety and blendable and instantly enhances the complexion with a tint of pinks and corals. Oh my gosh how glad I am that it is Friday. I can finally relax and have fun with everyone, plus it's super bowl weekend! Wow, I really have to get to the grocery store. Must do that tomorrow. Anyways, had a fire going today (in my fireplace) which is so surreal. The girls always ask me when they can roast marshmallows, it's too cute.
So for today's beauty item of the day, I want to talk about nail polish. Essie has their new spring collection out called 'French Affair'. My winter haze was immediately brightened by the cheerfully pastel hues. I got the color Sand Tropez which glamourizes the neutral territory. And get this, you don't have to run to Ulta to get them. Their at Wallmart! Oh yes, Wallyworld. So go check out their upbeat and fun shades, it might make things a little brighter now : )

Happy Groundhog's Day! Another beautiful day here today. After school we played outside, I worked in the garden, and get this, people were even cutting their grass! Boy are we getting spoiled. However, even though Mr. Groundhog did not see his shadow, tomorrow it's going to be a high of 37. It's crazy. Like I said before, it's so frustrating trying to figure out what to wear!
So the beauty item for today makes me want to blush literally. It's by Tarte cosmetics and it is called Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush. I personally like the color "natural beauty" which is kind of like a muted strawberry red color. But the thing I like so much about this blush is that it is long-wearing and actually minimizes oil and restores moisture while delivering nutrients to your skin. The result they say is a blush that wears better, long, and truer! Now i'll blush for that!

  Sometimes the weather here is so nice that I wonder "how long will this last?" it must be too good to be true that we all can go outside to play and I can work in my garden. Well that lasted one day! Today it's in the 30's and cloudy. Thus my attire goes back to wool coats and gloves.
  But on the brighter side, staying inside has many perks. Today we baked sugar cookies, watched Garfield the movie and just hung out. And when the cloudiness starts to bring me down, I reach for some fun nail polish colors to try. It's always nice to see your nails in a fun summer hot pink color even if the weather is not nearly close to that season!
  So the beauty bag item of the day is an eyeshadow primer called Too Faced Shadow Insurance in the color Candlelight. With that as a base, I applied my NYX single eyeshadow in Lanika all over my lid. This eyeshadow kind of looks like this sky blue color, fairly matte, with a bit of shimmer. For some more wow power, I applied my Mac Eye Khol in the color Minted under my eyes, added some blush and lipgloss I was set for the day. Now did I go anywhere? Of course not. I was home all day with the little one, who might I add likes to sit and watch mommy put on her makeup. Maybe it's the bright light, I don't know, but it's precious. Someday i'm sure she will be asking me to put some on her.
  I'm not sure what the weather is going to be like for the rest of the week, but i'll be sure to leave my mittens and summer nail polishes close at hand! Angela

Sunday funnies, easter bunnies, and beauty bag item of the day.

So every Sunday we all sit around the table in the morning, wait for our breakfast, which is made by my wonderful husband, and read the newspaper. He gets the funnies of course. But today he was away, and the funnies sat alone on the table, and our breakfast, well we had to settle for organic protein pancakes made by mom. "Not like a Sunday with dad" they say. Then it was off to play Easter egg hunt, which I had to break out the Easter box in the shed so they could get their "baskets" and fake eggs. It was a joy to see them hide their eggs, then go find them, and then start the whole process all over again. I of course took the liberty of watching from afar, worked on the laundry, and read the paper, and yes the funnies.
Now it's time for bed as we all need a good nights rest. And like I said in my last blog, I tried out my deep conditioner by john masters organic, and my hair felt very soft and looked nice and shiny. It actually got really curly since I didn't blow dry my hair, but that's besides the point. But for tonight I think I will skip the shower, and soak in the bath with one of my favorite tub treats by LUSH cosmetics called Golden Slumbers Bath Bomb. Hopefully that will put my into a deep slumber, but not in the tub of course.

A playdate and beauty bag item of the day!

So my daughter had her first official "playdate" at her little friends house from school. Did she have a great time? Yes, and she wants to go back again tomorrow (lets give it a week o.k). I had a good time talking with the mom, and i know their dog enjoyed our youngest daughter's continuous petting and hugs. Anyways, today may not be another "playdate" day, but we are going to try and have fun outside since the sun is shinning and daddy is home with us.
Like I said in my last blog, I have a variety of beauty samples to try. The next product is actually going to be for my hair and is called john masters organic lavender and avocado intensive conditioner. This conditioner is supposed to bring moisture and vitality to dry hair, and it's also great on color-treated hair. We shall see. And it's not one of those deep conditioners that you have to leave on your hair for like 20 minutes and wrap in a towel. Like I have that kind of time! 1-5 minutes and then rinse well, now that's something to look forward to tonight!
