#035 - FROZEN JELLY CAKE THEME

I'm very happy with my jelly cake that turned out to be good and accepted. Hahaha. First attempt not hoping for perfection but able to make sure the jelly can stand and not watery.

Actually the dress and the top baju not match you know, can you spot it? LoL

Here you go - Frozen theme birthday jelly cake. This cake makes me a proud mama but still not perfect yet lar can make much better. But my girl is very happy about the outcome. The cost of making jelly cake is not expensive, but it is time consuming while waiting to pour layer by layer. On the other hand, still need to make sure the 3 portions of the agar agar mixture is still keep warm otherwise it will get harden easily. I also prepared ice cube and cold water to make sure each layer set easily before the next layer pour in.

Frozen Jelly Recipe:

1 1/2 packet of Mermaid Agar Agar powder

400gm castor sugar

2.5 liter of water

3-4 Screwpine (Pandan) leafs

1 can of longan

500ml Blue Pea color water (Bunga Telang)

200ml of coconut milk (Santan)

Another agak-agak recipe from me. I mix 3 layers of shades, White (Santan), Light Blue ( Santan + Bunga Telang), Blue (Bunga Telang). The color you adjust on your own preference. Actually I add more of the agar-agar powder as I want it to be firm and more solid to make the dress stand still. Luckily it never turns out to be watery too. Can be modify a little bit more to be perfection.

I was very clumsy at first place, don't know which one to start first. Whether to mix or not to mix. For me the most simple recipe can really cause a mess. Blame myself not well plan. Muahaha. I need to prepare 3 pots for the 3 different shades. Get the Anna - Frozen topper. My girl prefer Anna. Somehow the colors not really match the color printed on the topper. I should adjust the color to purple. The layering of the color is depends on our creativity. I add in the longan in between the blue layer too - hidden inside.

Before telling my girl I will be making this jelly cake, I try to find the plastic mold from our local bakery store here. Finally got a suitable one - size and height because I don't intend to make a big one or too small. 6' diameter with 9" height is just perfect. Overall, quite satisfying with the outcome. It took me about 4-5hrs from preparing the ingredients until I poured the last layer. Phew...finally done. Keep in the fridge overnight before unmold it and finish it with the topper, that's it.

#034 - Japanese Mood

I like this frozen saba fish from Aeon. Thaw the fish, check for bones, cut into chunks and marinated with teriyaki sauce left it overnight. Early in the morning fry the fish until cook and fragrant. Leftover of the marinated sauce, pour over and let it simmer until the sauce thickening. End with some sesame seeds.

Kids get bored with bread for the past fortnight. Mummy here need to be a little bit more hardworking to do some snack for my son to bring to school. So I need to crack my head to think what should I prepare for them.

Instead of vinegar, I used furikake the Japanese seasoning and mix in the hot rice. Rice can cooked overhead and everything comes with planning. Should be fine. I woke up at 5.20am and finish around 6.40pm. Managed to roll up 4 sushi rolls cut into half I got 8 rolls.

Hahaha, showing you this - Tamago. I supposed to wrap this inside my sushi too, but I didn't because the teriyaki saba fish is good enough and flavored. This egg is cooked and can kept in the fridge for tomorrow kid's snack box. They just like it. So tomorrow will be another sushi day for them.

Post about my daily food is better, I guess need to postponed my Aus trip again.

#033 - FRIED CINTAN MEE

When I'm not lazy, I will cook up a storm. Muahaha - Fried Cintan Mee only.

Ingredients:

A lot of shallots, finely shopped dried shrimp, marinated chicken and shrimp cut into small pieces with pepper and cornstarch, a quarter of cabbage, sauce mixture (Dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, mirin) and lastly, eggs fry thin omelette - shredded.

Colleagues and I was chit chatting what to prepare for Children's Day event at school. One of my colleague's son requested her mum to prepare fried Cintan Mee. So that Cintan Mee keeps flashing in my mind. So Saturday when to market and bought some ingredients back to fry my own style.

It is simple and nice Cintan Mee. Do you want to have some too?

#032 - Mooncake Biscuit (公仔饼)

A VERY GOOD MORNING TO ALL

Mooncake Biscuit (公仔饼)

(Adapted from Joceline of Butter. Flour & Me)

350gm Super fine Flour

230gm sugar syrup ( I reduce to 200gm)

100gm vegetable oil

5g Alkaline water

150g lotus paste

Egg Wash - For glazing

Bake in preheated 180° oven for about 20 to 25mins

Method: In a big bowl add in all ingredients together and mix well. I used hand to knead in order to know the texture and get rid of the lotus paste lumps (if have). NOTE: The dough need to be rest minimum 3 hours. If you want to do, probably early in the morning mix the dough siap-siap. Then later in the afternoon, shape and bake.

The soft dough must rest at least 3 hours ahead before shaping and baking

Since I have balance of mixed nuts from my Shanghai Mooncake in my earlier post. Why not I bake some Mooncake Biscuit (公仔饼).

It is always easy to get recipe through blogs. That is always a good thing about blog.

If you want to try to bake some for tonight Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, then this recipe works for you too. I just do round shape the simple one because first time with this recipe. Never know it is so easy to make. But somehow it is much depending on the recipe provided. Thank you Joceline for posting such a good recipe.

For those who willing to try a new version of flavor, here is my version of:

Lemony Mooncake Biscuit (公仔饼)

350gm Super fine Flour

230gm sugar syrup ( I reduce to 200gm)

100gm vegetable oil

5g Alkaline water

150g lotus paste
2 drops of dōTERRA Lemon Essential Oil

Egg Wash - For glazing

Bake in preheated 180° oven for about 20 to 25min.

#031 - Shanghai Mooncake

This year we celebrate Mid-Autumn festival a month late than usual because this year in Chinese lunar calendar is a leap year. I have decided to bake my own mooncake for our own consumption and also delivered some to close relatives and close friend. This year the mooncake price has gone up again. Furthermore many of us has been ordering from home bakers as well.

Shanghai Mooncake is my favorite as compared to the rest because of the fragrant pastry match against the moderate sweetness of the lotus paste. We can even design and choose what size and shapes of the mooncake we wanted to be. Big or small, with or without salted eggs or even different filling, all is up to our preference.

Shanghai Mooncake

(Recipe Adapted from : Mimi Bakery House)

Pastry:

300g Super Fine Flour/All purpose flour

100g castor sugar

50gm margarine/butter

100gm shorterning

50gm milk powder

25gm custard powder

1tsp baking powder

2eggs

Fillings:

Salted egg (steam for 1-2mins)/cheddar cheese (cut in block)

Lotus paste/red bean

Nuts - pumpkin seed/black sesame seeds/melon seeds (toasted and mix in the filling paste and let some for decoration)

Bake in preheated oven 180° about 25 to 30mins or until it turns golden brown.

Method: Measure all the above ingredients and crumble with your hands. Hands can be messy and sticky at early stage, but once you continue to knead, it will form a nice yellow dough. Set in the fridge at least 20mins before wrap the lotus paste filling as your preferred. My recipe is enough to make about 12 nice and big Shanghai Mooncake.

OK here goes with my dōTERRA essential oil again. This time I rinse and wash the salted eggs with a drop of lemon in a bowl of water. Yes, I drop of lemon will do the trick for 10 to 12 salted eggs. To get rid of the salted egg smell. Hahaha...

#030 - Take off to Australia

Hi everyone, quite busy and time was fully occupied with company auditors and budget planning. So have yet to update about our trip until today.

23rd August until 31st August - Marked our most pleasant family trip to Melbourne & Sydney, Australia. This round, hubby made all the planning and decision. He is more familiar with Melbourne and Sydney. He also "ajak" his friend to join this trip too.

Early transit flight from Penang to KLIA2. Then we had our breakfast at Plaza Premium Lounge, KLIA2 while waiting for another family to join us.

While in the plane occupied the kids with UNO and Ipad. I was worried they get bored in this budget flight with AA. Somehow they were pretty excited and enjoying themselves so much.

We had their newly called "SANTAN" combo meal on board. If pre-book together with flight, beverage is complimentary. They have about 15 - 20 combo sets to choose from. The kids enjoy their Mac and Cheese so much, both wallop all - clean!

First thing to do after get down from plane is purchased data plan to access - Choose Telstra, hahaha!

Weather is pretty cold.... freezing!

A quick phone call to Quality Hotel, Westmeadows - nearest to Melbourne Airport for pick up and get our rent car provided by this hotel as well.

Recommended Dish: Roasted Duck, Char Siew Pao and Wanton noodle.

We reach Melbourne about 7pm (Malaysia time:5pm). Halfway to our apartment, hubby took us to China Bar - Noodles and Rice Bar at Russell Street, Melbourne as it is getting pretty late. Service is quick and they served a huge portion. So Hebe and I shared the siew yoke, roasted duck and char siew combo with rice. China Bar is famous with their roasted duck - it was good.

For me the char siew and roasted pork should have slice more thinly.

Travel with kids and plan our trip on our own is a more flexible arrangement within our budget. After the meal, we make a quick move to the serviced apartment. The apartment is totally a brand new building. Everything is so well equip.

Provided with underground car park and a night is approximately Aus250 - 2 bedrooms apartment.

We stayed here for 4 nights before headed to Sydney later on. After long hours of journey, we called it a night and quickly went to bed. Hubby said we need to wake up as early as 4.30am (Malaysia time: 2.30am) @-@.....

#029 - Happy Birthday Mummy

Today 0609 is mummy's birthday. She is recovering and get use to normal life day by day. Nothing much to hope for. Wish her stay healthy and happy always.

Brought my parents to Design Village premium outlet - their first time. Since I need to get back to work today, I plan to celebrate a lil bit early.

Here is the address: Design Village Penang, Pengkalan Batu Kawan, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.

Bring them here to experience the crowd and the kids get to hang out with their grandparents. I told them, next time we can come here again to shop for CNY clothes.

This girl is getting more cheeky - pose everywhere she likes to.

Then, we drop by to Haagen-Dazs for light dessert. Cheers - The grandchildren sang an early birthday song for their Ah Mah. The kids really miss their Ah Kong and Ah Mah after 2 weeks away from home.

Last but not least, I brought them to my favorite hot pot place - Hwang Huo Guo. Why? Cos inside got one mini playground, while the adults enjoying the hot pot. Frankly speaking, the soup base is superb.

We order the fish soup (comes with fish cutlets in it) and tomato soup base. Other side ingredients you can order as you preferred. Here they served fresh seafood too. If have chance come here to try their signature Laksa soup base hot pot. Yumz...

#028 - BANGKOK 2016 (LAST YEAR)

Post Trip - July 2016

Colleagues and I were in Bangkok during Raya time. We booked our flight ticket somewhere in Nov'15, hotel booking and plan out itinerary very well. Somehow, with my mom condition in April'16. I felt I might missed this trip with my colleagues, because I can't get any assistance to take care my mom. Thanked to God, I finally get a temporary maid in the last minute in June'16. From the photo, here we are 4 of us. Not easy to plan a trip with my colleagues from the same department. 4 is just a great number to travel with.

We were at a small stall like "warong" nearby our budget hotel - for their pork noodle soup. Cheap and tasty.

A quick updates not going to bombard with long elaboration here. I just want to jot down the remarkable trip we had last year in my blog. Out trip was totally a budget trip as we plan ahead and we have time to discuss and arrangement.

Four of us enjoy the boat ride headed to the floating market. I have read so many comments from bloggers mentioned that the boat fair is unreasonable. As what we negotiated with the tour guide earlier, the charge fee was alright with us. I can't recalled how much already.

After floating market, we headed to hotel to checked in. Evening, we were at Chocolate Ville - dinner and sight seeing. Bangkok has many featured and designed theme restaurant.

Did you see, Four is just great even in sharing food and seats. We hired a local tour guide during our 4D3N in Bangkok - Mr Banyat with his Innova. For those small group who wanted to Bangkok, can text me to get his contact number.

Not all days we get Mr Banyat to pick up us. We also had our own leisure, free and easy time. We use the Bangkok MRT for shopping mall hopping. Lol. Not much shopping done. We visited to Terminal 21, Siam Paragon, Siam Center. Later on, we even passed by Cnetral World and Big Seed.

We managed to find Som Tam Nua - Our Lunch. Heard many good reviews about their scrumptious food.

Not far away, we walked across the pedestrian bridge to find Mango Tango for dessert. Bangkok is pretty easy to travel with their informative guide, convenient transportation and their amazing pedestrian bridge that link from shopping mall to another one.

The following day we headed to Chatuchak market. Not going to be miss right if you are travelling to Bangkok. First time experience is good enough. But I wish to come again. People are friendly, food are good and shopping is definitely great.

On the last day, we change the itinerary from Asiatique to Chinatown due to the massive traffic jam during the weekend. Mr Banyat also advice that too, otherwise our time will be wasted in the traffic jam.

Mr Banyat is nice and generous person too. He stopped by the beautiful temple in Chinatown for us to take photos. On the first day, he treated us fresh coconut drinks after we had our boat ride at the floating market. He searching and looking which stall that sell chilled fresh coconut. So touching! I got down from the car to pay, but he refused it.

Since we are at Chinatown, T&K Seafood restaurant shouldn't be miss. Fresh seafood with generous price too. Worth going there. Fresh oysters - 50Baht only.

Last but not least, one of our colleague wish is to visit this scenic theme restaurant at Bangkok - The Rome. So we granted her wish. I did a pre reservation from FB in order to get nice view for photos and view. We choose to seat at the beanie - which we had dinner at the middle pool. Dress well and our Mr Banyat is always on time to pick up us.

Before we seated for our great dinner, we took several photos inside and outside the area... beautiful isn't it?

#027 - KRACIE POPPING COOKING

Kids nowadays are so much fortunate than those olden days. Even myself can feel the difference. Toys are not like last time. My kids generation is more to gadgets and technology stuffs. Yeah, Ipad spoilt their eye sight and bla bla bla... How to stop them from using? even adults also non stop looking at smart phone. What can I do about it, is by minimize their usage and only allow them during weekends. Com' on they are still kiddos, let them have a break and balance up their life. Hubby will set password frequently, so I don't have to crack my head where to hide the Ipads from them. When the kids want to log in, I will said "password please get from daddy". Muahaha.... Sometimes, when my hubby not around, eventually the kids also stop playing and do other stuffs. There is one day, my girl cried for password through Whatsapp-ing her daddy.

I know this set of Kracie popping cooking (safe for children) from my kids. As they watch and know this from YouTube. I have no idea about this until they get me to buy for them to play. A box of it is not cheap around RM15-RM18. It is actually DIY making soft and chewy candy. Need adult supervision ya. Japanese products are very detailed on how to make them.

It was just a box and it was totally full of excitement. I enjoy making food with them. In a box the full idea is to make used all of the items given. Japanese are creative with this.

There is always pros and cons from getting Ipad for the kids. Ipad is another source of dictionary, my son use to look up Chinese words and read online news. He doesn't really know much at least, he will said "mummy, there is high alerts of rabies in Kuching. Must watch out from stray dogs". My son likes to watch national geographic and animals documentary. My girl would prefer to watch dancing, gymnastics, sing along songs she likes. Both kids like Evan YouTube, introducing new toys, games and how to play with it. Make use of the Ipad whereby the kids can proactive along. At least makes their brain work and think.

#026 - Dannok & Hatyai 2017

Another annual holiday plan with my colleagues - Dannok and Hatyai on the 27th July. This date was supposed to celebrate Agong's birthday then postponed to 9th Sept. But then, we still carry on with our holiday mood. Basically we want to enjoy the food and have fun. Not to mention about shopping.Muahaha.

Firstly we visited the Asian Cultural Village at Dannok, onced we entered Sadao - the border of Bukit Kayu Hitam, Malaysia and Hatyai, Thailand.

Play hide and seek with pandas. It is quite rushing, but is was fun too that we do not have to spend so much time at one place. Drop off, snap photo and get in the van - move to the next destination.

As usual, WEFIE time. We were at the ZEBRA stainless steel kitchenware and cookware... There are few shop dealers at Hatyai.

Sting with bees. Hahaha.

The local tour guide brought us here to earn commission (We just follow because we still have ample of time. But we didn't buy anything from there). This time we enjoyed the sights in van. We hired a van for 10 persons. Each of us paid RM248 (Van, Insurance and hotel).

Really love Thai food. Original taste, sour, sweet and spicy. Do I need to say anymore....

We stayed at Grand Pink Hotel, the new renovated hotel not long ago - about 2 years I guess. More photos can browse from my FB. Some of them would like to get the triangle ketupat, local kuih and yellow glutinous rice dumpling. So early in the morning, I brought them to visit Hatyai city morning market - Kim Yong to bought those they wanted to buy.

Guess what, Thailand 7 Eleven cannot be miss. Every time the local tour guide bring us back to hotel, we will never miss a round to visit the 7 Eleven (it was just beside our hotel). Not only Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and many other countries convenient stores are much more convenient than ours here. Hahaha.

Besides food, shopping and relax - full body massage, we also visited a few temples. This is one of the significant stainless steel temple at Hatyai. It was my first time here too. Our journey was quite smooth and we reach the temple about 7pm. We were lucky to experience the lighting ceremony together among their prayers.

Many of you must be curious and what essential oil can be taken internally. Is it safe? Are there actually health benefits from using oils this way? Past few months back, my builder group hold a half day event for existing and non members. During the tea break session, we served a variety of food prepared using our dōTERRA essential oils. All food were prepared by some of our builder group. members (hey, some are good in baking). I was pretty excited to part of them. Here showing the 3 ideas from me.

Easy Chocolate Fruit Dip with dōTERRA Wild Orange

Recipe:

Any kinds of fruit you preferred. I choose green apples, strawberries, guava and grapes. Melted chocolate wiith dōTERRA Wild Orange to enhance the orangey flavored. Clean the fruits and cut in cubes or mouth bite sizes, dip into the orange flavored melted chocolate. Set a side and sprinkle with chopped roasted almond. Hahaha like having "rojak".

Wild Orange : Is an energizing aroma that can uplift the mind and body. It has become one of dōTERRA’s top selling essential oils.

Simple Balsamic Vinaigrette Dip with dōTERRA Oregano and Rosemary

Recipe:

I used balsamic vinegar, extra virgin oil, salt, pepper, some fresh rosemary and thyme (partly chopped) and lastly combined well with dōTERRA Oregano and Rosemary. I placed all in a glass jar, covered the lid and shake well. Served with slices of baguette.

Oregano: Is one of the most potent and powerful essential oils and has been used for centuries in traditional practices. Oregano acts as a powerful cleansing agent and offers powerful antioxidants.

Rosemary: Frequently used to flavor foods such as stuffings, pork, roast lamb, chicken, and turkey. Rosemary supports healthy digestion and internal organ function.

Recipe:

Capsicums finely chopped, loads of tomatoes finely chopped, big onions, fresh cilantro chopped, fresh lemon juice, black pepper, salt, sugar to taste. Lastly add in dōTERRA Lime to add in the citrus flavor. Served with nachos.

Lime: Lime provides cleansing benefits when taken internally or used topically—making it the perfect oil for purifying skin, air, and surfaces. It is frequently used in entrées, salad dressing and beverages.

During the event, there were more than 15 kinds of food served using essential oils. About 60pax turned up that day. Quite successful to introduce essential oils to new members and members to be besides their usage for aromatherapy and topically.

#023 - Hello and Bye July

Hello everyone, July has been a busy month for me and my kids.

This few photos were taken during previous Raya holiday. My mum recently also went for another minor surgery to remove the chemo-port. Previously it was installed beneath the skin, easy for my mum during chemotherapy session.

What we did during last Raya holiday? Spend a day trip to Penang Island. Jalan jalan cari makan lor... Dim Sum at Imperal Court Restaurant, The Top - Komtar.

Brought them to see dinosaurs at The Top Komtar.

Later in the afternoon, we had a late lunch at Crab & Lobsters - Straits Quay, Penang for the first time. Have been heard so much of good comments about this lobster feast thing.

#022 - A quick update

7th June 2017 is another remarkable date for my mum. The surgeon finally decided to fixed in my mum temporary stoma loop. They have been monitoring my mum's intestine, scope and check thoroughly before they can do the surgery. I told my mum to say bye bye to her stoma.

Above is the different between a permanent and a temporary stoma. For further information, you may browse the net about colostomy.

Not an easy task to stay with stoma bag for a period of time. My mum is lucky as this was a temporary one. Otherwise, it will be a big change in her lifetime. What you ate internally, it easily flow out as waste. Diet need to be changed as some people may be easily dehydrated. Take more vegetables, fruits, soup and take protein such as soy beans, Japanese Edamame, seaweed and toufu.

Being a home nurse is part of my vocation. I've been the one changing the stoma bag or pouch for my mum every 3 days. At first my mum was being taken care by a maid which we hired her for a temporary basis. The maid need to clean my mom stoma bag (if is about 3/4 full) almost 4 to 5 times a day. Otherwise the bag will be heavy. During chemotherapy session, it is very hard for my mum to clean her stoma bag herself. So no choice to get a maid to take care of her while I'm working. Occasionally every 3 days, I will visit my mum to change a new bag for her. As long as we take good care of the stoma, the risk of getting infection, bleeding, skin irritation is lower. I also teach the maid how to change and everything. Sometimes, I might not be in town. Luckily, the maid willing to change for my mum when I'm not around.

The bag will attached at my mum's body, no one else can see it. But my mum will feel the burden of the bag as she carries everyday. I change her stoma bag every 3 days is not a big deal for me. But no one will know how much frustration my mum feels. Her hearts lighten up and feel more happy now. Everyone in the family feels the same way. My mum still need to take care as I told her, after the colon surgery, her intestine is in shorter length, therefore frequently go to toilet is a need. So I advice her to take small portion of meal. Day by day it will improve and adjust to normal lifestyle. After this, my mum will followed check up from time to time.

I'm proudly to say my mum is a survival from a stage IV colon-rectum cancer patient with liver metastasis.

#021 - Happy with my Mango Roses

This post suppose to be published in May. Blame my busy mode - No Time. Well, my mango cake definitely is my signature cake. I never fail to bake and decorate the cake with mangoes. Loaded with mangoes! Everyone in the house loves mango. Even myself can't resist it.

For your information, I always choose and find for Taiwan mangoes. Their seed is broad and flat. Their flesh is sweet and has a crunchy texture. The mango rose decorated from the photo shown above is something different. Mango cut into slices and line accordingly and form into rose petals.

This one is my signature decoration. My 9 inches cake always look elegant with thinly slice of mangoes covered the whole cake. This way is to minimize of having too much of whipped cream for those health conscious one. With this 9 inches of cake and weighted averagely about 1.5kg - my price is RM70. Reasonable? Hahaha... Who want to order next?

#020 - Simple French Toast

Lately my busy mode is back. To blog and say something about food is definitely much easy for me. Hopefully to fill up my blog space here otherwise this site will turn into cobweb! For the past few weeks, often travelled for outstation assignment. Then, done revision to prepare for my son's exam before the school holiday. Eventually, my kids and I will feel hungry when all the juice from the brain is all used up. LoL. So what to do?

Instead of a bowl of nice instant noodle, why not prepare a warm French Toast for the kids and myself. All you need is just a few slice of bread, eggs, fresh milk, some cinnamon powder, some sugar and banana for garnishing. You can always replace with any kinds of fruits or perhaps a dollop of ice cream is great too. Last but not least, my French Toast looks splendid with maple syrup over it.

Yeah, to feel our hungry tummy.

I have to pen off now. See you all in June.

#019 - Mini Golf Time

Another splendid Sunday activity with my parents and my kids at Spritzer Eco Park. My kids wanted to play the 18 holes Mini Golf with their Ah Kong and Ah Mah.

We've not been here for a while. Bring my mum go jalan-jalan.

My kids and my parents play seriously. They completed the 18 holes.

If you choose to play the Mini Golf game here, the golf ball is complementary to take back home. Upon returning the golf clubs, every player will get a mini bottle of Spritzer mineral water which look like a golf ball shape.

After the game, we took a rest and have some refreshment at their STG café.

After that, we took a stroll at their exhibit and information center hall. It is great to spend time here with family and friends.

I kinda like this name - Angel's Cake House. One of my BFF named it after me. I've very happy and proud of myself for taking cake's order. This one is a special case and it is totally exceptional one. As long as my cake can makes people feel contented and happy, I'm a happy person too.

Got to fulfilled a mummy request for her children. I never gonna fail this attempt. Next month got to look for nice mangoes.

Then a week after that, another friend of mine message me through Facebook. But very sorry Jesslyn, I can't make the Mango cake for her mother in law. She requested on this coming 28th, but I can't because of my month end closing. So sorry for her.

#017 - Birthday Weekend

I'm happy that my birthday falls on weekend. Got to spend my precious day with my loves one. Nothing special but we headed to Ipoh in the morning for nice Dim Sum brunch. My kids are excited that's why both of them wear so nice on that particular day.

Nice spread of Dim Sum from Weil Hotel, Ipoh

Siu Mai, Har Gao, Siu Long Bao and ordered roasted half duck with Lychee Wood from Ala Carte. Har Gao is my favorite, yumz.

The prawn fritters and spring rolls taste so so only. But the Mango puree with Pomelo and the Kwai Far Gou - Osmanthus and Goji berries jelly are awesome.

We didn't go anywhere else, so straight come home because I promise my mum to bring her to Buddhist temple. My kids are tag along accompany their Ah Mah.

Then, I thought it is a long time didn't bring my mum to jalan-jalan. So thought of the nearest famous Heong Peah - Eng Huat factory. A short visit only with the kids.

Take few shots of nice photos in their exhibit center and bought back some local biscuit.

It is good to stay in small town especially Taiping. Location for certain places are not very far to each other. So since is my birthday, allowed my son to "ponteng" from her Chinese tuition. Hahaha. Then, we headed to Taiping Antong coffee mill. Yes another tourist spot and it was our first visit there.

Who loves black coffee can visit here. We were just here to visit - shiok shiok only. They have a variety of free sample coffee tasting plus free "roti kok"

As you know my girl is photogenic. Many gaya one.

#016 - Best birthday gift ever

Story behind my last year birthday...

"Last year around the same time like now my mum was admitted to ICU. My mum diagnosed with colon cancer and liver metastasis. Everything come so quickly and sudden, operation was arranged immediately too. It was a tremendous fear for our family and especially my mum. All this while she thought she got hemorrhoids. That's why I was away from my blogosphere for a while. My mum was in the hospital for a month plus. I try my very best to consult her (almost everyday), prepared her the best diet and nutritious food she needed the most during the critical stage. After that, my mum also did the colostomy for temporary bypass from the large intestine. While I was searching for temporary maid to take care my mum, I become her full time nurse. I learn how to change and clean her stoma bag 2-3days time. Life has to go on and now everything is almost to settle down. Since the first day, we knew her case, I do a lot of reading from the Internet how to prepare for a cancer patient to get ready before and after chemo session. Mum also completed her full set of chemotherapy (ended in Jan'17) and thank GOD, she gets a positive feedback from her latest scan result just last week. This is my best birthday gift ever. So from now on, she still needs to be well taken care off. During the most crucial time, I told my mum that don't let me fighting alone. She herself must keep a positive mind and together we fight back and overcome the cancer. Gradually, that was how I connected with essential oils. It was a miracle for her after using them. On how and what kind of protocol of using DoTerra essential oil with cancer patients, I will discussed in separate post."

So let's come back to my birthday this year. I was totally busy and never thought planning a lunch as I still have two April birthday babies to celebrate with me in the office. Indeed, my colleagues plan ahead without my notice.

#015 - MARCH BIRTHDAY

So who's birthday it is? Margaret text me that we were invited for their lovely daughters birthday party last month. The birthday party held at one of the Taiping café - Double Tap. Firstly, Happy Birthday Bernise! My son and Bernise were both same age and met since kindergarten. Look at this photo, both stand far apart, look at their face...LoL. So shy.

Next, Happy Birthday to Nadia (From Left: Joey, Hebe and Nadia).

Three of them are same age, all met together from the same kindergarten. They are three best friends. So when the kids start schooling, gradually parents get to meet each other. Not all can click, but we do.

Come let me introduce my buddy's wife. SF. Thank you for taking photo for us. They are Margaret's husband friend. Hahaha... small town right, we were all know each other.

Last photo to mention, Calvin and Lucas, both attend the same Chinese tuition class. We mothers always ask around where to go for tuition, this and that. So ended, they became friends. Lucas is younger than Calvin. Both grown up jor, doesn't like to take photos. Not like the girls. Oops, Lucas is SF's son.

#014 - Hebe first coloring contest

Look at her happy face. Not grand prize but very delighted to receive the this huge trophy. She got the "Excellent" award as she completed her coloring contest on time. ~~I thought she might get consolation prize only.~~ Hebe is 6years old but she is still in her petite size. Friends and relatives keep saying she looks like 4years old. *sob*

Never aim that she will get good result. It is just an exposure to her and for her future which I think is good enough. For hubby and I, we don't have ample of time to enroll her in so many coloring contest. Once a while we are fine.

Hebe get to stand on stage for prize giving and take a group photo with her teacher. This coloring contest was organized by her Art Class Group Management - Lavender Art Class. Hebe couldn't eat and seat still because she keeps eyeing and hugging her trophy, merely 3 days continuos... Muahaha...

#013 - Charcoal Decoration

I have been into charcoal decorating for some years already. I get those nice charcoals from Kuala Sepetang mangroves tree village. Buy ya not take for free. Anyway, I always do this for Chinese New Year. People will get one charcoal decoration for any opening and house warming occasion too. I went to check the prices not cheap too, some can shoot to about RM500. Depends on the sizes too. Charcoals can absorb humidity, unwanted smell, harmful radiation and improve the surrounding environment by place the charcoal beside television, living room and dining area.

Let's see how to do it. I use Pentel's gold poster color. Get a good quality brush too. Color the whole charcoal log with tone. I used poster color instead of shimmery glitter gold dust, because the gold dust not so hygiene and easily scattered everywhere. Once after you have painted the charcoal log let it dry for a day before decorating. Other utensils are UHU glue, ribbons and double sided taps.

I went to visit a few florist shop to get some ideas on how they decorate the charcoal with flowers, gold coins and etc. Some they decorated with birds, butterflies and ladybirds too. I should take their photos and keep my charcoal decoration designs as a collection.

Some request to stay simple and yet bring "發財" prosperous.

Try get different type of flowers to decorate it. I bend the artificial flowers and try to curl around the charcoal log and some I will slid in the charcoal crack line. Then slowly tighten it with ribbons to hide it.

Some placed the charcoal on the vase or pot. The designs cannot be fix because every charcoal is different. So different size, height and the crack line will define on how I decorate it. My friend said, I can sell already and take orders. What you think?

#012 - Korean Stir-Fried Glass Noodle

Never thought of stir-fried Korean Glass Noodle. I was suppose to fried Udon for my son to bring to school. After all, it still turn out perfectly delicious. I always thought I have a pack of dried Udon in the kitchen... But leh didn't go check it out. Luckily still got the Korean Glass Noodle. If this also don't have, will just use instant noodle then. Muahaha.....

Korean Glass Noodle - Dangmyeon is very versatile in cooking. I love the QQ, chewer and elastic texture than our normal one. Although the color is greyish but is full of nutritious. I used to cook Chap Chae before but not publish in my blog here. Maybe some other time I cook again and record down the process here. Usually available in dried and packed form. Need to boil water to cook it. Once it is soft drained it out and set aside while preparing the other ingredients. Tips: Do not over soaked in the boiled water as it will absorb all the liquid.

Here are the some of the side ingredients for my simple Korean Stir-Fried Glass Noodle. I used Japanese Yakisoba sauce. All kind of vegetables which is up to your preference and liking. And I have omelet shredded for the topping. Pretty easy to cook.
