I know it does not really take that long to say a few words, yet I find my days don't ever go as planned and if I do have a good internet connection I have so many things to do blogging just gets pushed to the bottom of the list.

So, now that I kind of explained myself I am blogging today and can mark something off of my to do list!

How am I? Good, much better! I have been dealing with boils for the last year I think the count is now 12 and this last one was the worst of them all. IT appeared on my left shin bone. It was deep and wide... sounds like a song a sang as a kid!!!! I am tired of them so started some research and have been disgusted by these things but now even more so. It appears a Bot fly egg may be the cause and there for a worm has been the cause of the boils. This last one i pulled out 2 worms together the size of my index finger. GROSSSSS. I am better and did major house cleaning and will fumigate the house soon.

Kids are great! Enia 11 and as tall as me, Popinho 4 and the king of the House he is so funny and cute... Homeguito now 13 is still sweet and quite... Popo soon to be 27 is doing well, still our VP at Beacon of Hope and finishing school.

God has blessed us, we are all healthy and happy!

Blessing to you all!

My first year after starting the Hope House project, did not have a vehicle we took the local transport and I prayed hard and long for a car. God provided and I have not used one since. My Honda has had suspention probelms. The car is from Japan, and the roads here in Moz are not great so our wheels are not good. This has brougt back so many memories for where I have been and how far I have come, during my 9 years here. I am very thankful for a vehicle.

The kids and I have been sick over the last few months, malaria, colds, popinho's asthma has been acting up... but praise God we are all better.

I am getting ready to visit the US in a few weeks and I am very excited to visit, see friends and family, but keep me and my family in your prayers as i will not be traveling with my kids. I will miss them and i know they will miss me... Enia and Popinho have not been away for me for more than a week at a time, so this will be a streach for all of us!

God bless you and thanks for yor prayers!
I am disappointed that I have not yet received, the adoption papers. I am praying and believing that I will get them in the next 31 days before I board the plane. What a celebration that will be. My kids will not be able to travel with me so please keep us all in your prayers. This will be the first time I have been away from the kids for more than a week. I will be arriving in Pensacola Florida April 26th - May 5th Texas May 6th - May 11th then back to Mozambique.

The kids are good Enia and Homeguito are doing really well in school and love it. Popinho is walking! We are all so blessed and he is working hard to keep up with Enia and Homeguito. Popo has started University and is really enjoying his studies. I am working trying to get caught up, I really need a secretary! Ha Ha... So much to do so little time.

Continue to pray for our health and protection.... In the last 2 months I have suffered with pink eye in both eyes, and malaria. Popo, Enia and Popinho have had malaria and upset stomachs over the last 2 months. Your prayers are a blessing and we thank you!

God bless and hope to see or talk with you while I am home!
I am currently in South Africa for a few days rest. The missionary house where I stay, which is very nice, has a beautiful pool which I was planning to refresh in, but with the rain and coolness of the day I have not yet been able to enjoy the pool. I still have a few days left so hopefully I will get my chance!

I will be returning to Mozambqiue on Wednesday, the kids are all starting school and we will hit the ground running, so much to do, so I am very thankful for a few days of R&R. Keep us in your prayer...last week I was sick for about 2 days with a stomach bug, and Popinho was sick with malaria. We are all in good health presently and pray for God's continued protection.
We are making an appointment for Popinho as he is trying to walk but his left foot and ankle turn to the side and its hard for him to walk on it. He wants to and it is more noticeable than before, so pray with us that they will know exactly what we need to do so he can walk. I believe with all my heart that he will walk!!!

We are all healthy and ready for this new year!!!

I have nothing planned for New Years Day, and my kids were invited to stay at their Grandmas house (Popo's Mom - Popinho is her grandson, but she claims Enia too, so nice) they are staying the night so they can see and pop firecrackers with their cousins. So, that leaves me at home alone. I will enjoy the quite and alone time, but I already miss my kids!!!!

So I am going to watch a movie and eat Pizza!
As you can see my blogging has not been steady, but I hope to change that this coming year. Since I am so far away from home, family and friends, I have learned that staying in touch as much as you can, hearing about the little everyday things that happen, help me feel closer to home. In that respect I want my friends and family to feel close to us as well. Life in Mozambique has its rewards and a lot of struggles. We as a family are learning many things and I hope to share more with you as it happens this next year!

Since our last post many things have happened but the one thing we have been waiting for still has not happened. Adoption of Enia and Popinho was granted one year ago and we have yet to receive the official paperwork. This has stopped us from being able to travel home to the US for a visit. Continue praying with us that all will be resolved very soon!

This Christmas was very hard and very hot! I miss my family and a nice time of refreshing!

Have a very Happy New Year
I really want to and try to but there is so much going on with ministry and family and then me time so my on my list of goals this year is to keep you more in the loop on what God is truly doing in our family.

Yesterday was Popinho's 2nd birthday! So hard to believe he is 2, not yet walking a bit lazy, although he is trying. He is talking a bit, and scoots all over the place.

Enia is 9 years old in 4th grade, loves school, loves her little brother and is a big help to mom. She is trying to balance her feelings of being Mozambican and American. She is a beautiful!

Homigueto is 11 and in 5th grade. An awesome young man and very smart. He has such a sweet personally, encorager and helper.

Popo is 24 years old, a big help to me with the kids and ministry! He will son be completeing his first Archecture Course and has won second course at the local University for 1 year 6 months PAID for!!!! He is very proud of himself and loves Jesus!

I am doing much better, earlier this year I was diagnosied with Rheumatiod Arthritis they are thinking this may have been due to the numerious times I have had malaria. There is no way to be certian but it seems to fit and make sence. I battle pain daily some days less than others but pain none the less. I am learning what I can and can't eat, what effects me and what does not. That is a hard thing here in Moz. because I can't seem to eat that much.

God is good and helping me walk through this and I know that I have many people praying for me and that makes a difference and is a blessings.

Much love ,
Angie and Family

Life has been very busy, with everything I do at the Hope House, then home being mom, homework and housework. I do have a housekeeper, this helps me out a lot and provides a job for someone, yet there seems to always be a mess around somewhere!

This year Enia is in 3rd grade, she turned 8 years old last November. So hard to believe and such a smart and good little girl. Angie is busier than ever, finances, teaching, (trying to teach biology in Portuguese), fund raising ideas, communications, Bible study, and so much more I could fill up the page but I don't want to bore you.

We have a new addition to our family. Popo has been like a son to me for years and when he took Homeguito in I had another son, I will not legally adopt them but they are my family. Popo's sister had a baby boy and she named him after Popo, I did not expect to care for him or adopt him but his mother says she can't take care of him, she lives in South Africa and does not come to visit often. She and the family have given me guardianship and I will be adopting Popinho as well. Popinho has been with us since he was 5 months and he will soon turn 11 months!!!!!

Enia's adoption is still on going although we think that we are in the last part of it. Waiting once again on a court date. We are praying that the judge will grant Popinho's adoption at the same time.

Continue to pray for us and that all adoptions will come through, immigrant visas will take less than 3 months, as well that we will all be able to travel to Texas this year for a visit. A friend told me about a blog site for missionaries and I decided to sign up our blog site. Jim the guy with this great idea asked us to put in a post about CARE PACKAGES and how we could get them, what we would like to get etc. Many people ask me what I would like in a package and so I thought this was a great way to let people know what we like and could use, so below are my ideas:

I am content without Hershey’s Chocolates and goodies such as that, especially my waistline and hips. I already have a hard time with weight watching due to the high carbohydrate meals we have here in Africa. Items that would make me really happy are things such as

- Sugar free hard candies that last a time in your mouth (there is one coffee flavored) it makes me feel like I am having a Starbucks. There are many different kinds and any would be a treat.

- Mints, gum, peanuts, sunflower seeds, small things that don’t take up to much space, weight and want spoil. Tuna in a foil package works great even over long distance travel and oh how I love it. I could always use medicines such as Tylenol, Alka Seltzer Plus Cold, Pepto Bismol tablets, Band-Aids, Neosporin ointment, or anything for minor healing aids.

Soups, spaghetti, chili, enchilada packs, taco seasonings, the dry ones that you add water or tomatoes too. I can’t remember all of them but these are the ones I have received that I loved.
Dried spices like oregano, cilantro, basil, chili powder, Garlic salt.
Garden seeds (all kinds) work great for our garden and because they are dried, there is no problem getting them through customs.

We could always use clothes and shoes for Enia, who is now 7 1/2 years old and taller than ever. She can still wear some of her size 6 jeans in the waist but the length has become a problem. So size 7 or 8 in shirts but 7 in pants. Shoes oh that we grow out of fast size 1 to 1 ½. She loves Pink!

We also received things like good family videos, kid’s educational material like leap frog or learning CD’s. Enia is learning how to use my computer and doing very well at it. SCHOOL SUPPLIES has been a very big help!!!! Things like:

- Pens, pencils, colors, markers
- For VBS colors, markers, glitter tubes, creative ideas

Other special things like for me:
- Teaching tapes, new music CDs. Like Joyce Meyer’s, Beth Moore, Jason Upton CD’ and others.
- T-shirts for my ministry I do for the youth here in Mozambique. I have 9 youth at present and all
sizes as we also have soccer teams in the community that we work with and share Jesus.
- Soccer balls, basketballs with no air in them.

It is nice to get nice lotions that smell good but they don’t need to have a strong sent to them or they will attract mesquites. Toothpaste and tooth brushes are a great help and are always appreciated.

Items can be shipped to:
Angie Wheeler
Suite #26
Private Bag X11340
Nelspruit 1200
South Africa

Blessings,
Angie and Enia

Praise God it is a cooler day! Yesterday it was up to 102 degrees F for about an hour give or take.

Enia has also lost another tooth. Growing up fast she like losing teeth and getting in bigger ones. We all want to grow up too fast don't we. School is going well and Enia's writing is improving, I am so impressed at her desire to improve and set goals. I was really excited as she has accomplished this on her own, she asks for my help and listens but she has done this mostly herself.

Yes I am a proud mom!

We have heard that within the next 2 weeks we should have the date of our first hearing in regards to the adoption. Pray for us and for the Judge. I am praying all is dealt with in one session and we can get paperwork done and plan our trip home to the States.

Tentative plans for travel home are at the end of October/first part of November. It truly depends on the ending of the school year as Enia and Homeguito have exams. We are still planning and praying that Homeguito and Popo will be able to come home with us!

We love you and write when you can!!!!

Angie and Enia

I honestly thought we were being bombed. It rattled the windows and walls of my office. At home it sounded as if it was going to take the tin roof off. Enia was so scarred and in tears. She was not only dealing with the fear of what she did not know or understand but was not feeling well.

That night Enia began to run a very high fever. She had been complaining of a headache but I could go now where to get her tested for malaria. The clinics we usually go to were closed or full from the explosion victims. IT was best to wait. I kept her fever down with Tylenol and wet clothes, cold showers ( not so bad as it was so hot.) Enia slept with me which was not only a comfort for her but me as well. We continued to hear the bombs way into the night.

At 3 am I woke up and she was so hot. I woke her up for more Tylenol, but wanted her to have something in her stomach so I made her eat a banana. It was quite funny as she is lying on my pillow with her eyes closed, half asleep, eating a banana. I had to remind her to chew. The fever went down and we went back to sleep.

Because of all the confusion the kids did not have school and Enia was relieved as she does not like to miss school. She went to the clinic and it confirmed what I thought, she has malaria. Malaria is ranked on a scale of 1 to five, this determines from the blood the amount of parasites and Enia was at level 2.

Keep us in your prayers!

Angie and Enia

She loves to get dirty and play and eat, not that she is feeling better watch out kitchen pantry. With all that eating she is growing like a weed and taller than ever.

I see her growing up so much, 2 nights ago she wanted Noodles for dinner so she put the water on (I light the fire on the stove) lets it boil, puts the noodles in and then gets ready to take a shower. I asked, "do you want me to put the seasoning in and stir it for you?" Her response,"NO it is my responsibility and I will take a bath quickly and finish cooking my dinner." She did and cleaned up after herself. The clean up was not done with the same excitement as the cooking but she did it!

I am much better and excited to feel better. I am teaching many several different classes for the youth and I like that. Still working on a hobby for myself. WE have started a garden at my house and will soon have plants and seeds to put in it. I went home early one day this week, had dinner with my kids and it was still daylight outside. I liked it! The youth leave at 5pm for school so I have decided that I need to and want to get home early have time with my kids and do something I like!

Thanks for your prayers and we would love to hear from you all!

If you have not seen the movie "Facing the Giants" you need to rent it. For that I praise God. I am able to work and do all the necessary things I need to.

We have started our front side walk in front of our house. We were blessed by many of you to have our own home. Construction here is not like back home so many things did not work, or were not done right so we have many issues to repair.

I need to fix the roof to stop leaking or I should say pouring when it rains and other things that were not finished. She loves to play in the dirt and oh gets so dirty! She had her first Portuguese test and received a 12. Let me explain the grading system as it is not like ours. The highest grade on a test you can get is 18/18 same as 100/100. So 12/18 is not bad!!!!!

I have not been sick for over a year and a half. Oh there is the little things like a cold but not sick. Last week I got sick and I have spent the week at home in bed, fever, nausea, fever blisters, aching and so weak and tired. I tested twice for malaria and it was negative. The doctor still feels that I have malaria that is hiding as it can do and has given medication for malaria. So I will be treating myself for malaria.

I am looking forward to getting better! WE are both sick so pray for us! I have an infection I think I mentioned but getting better. Enia has had a cough and sore throat but she will not miss school. Funny because a few years ago so would do anything to stay home. I have had a tutor come and teach for the last 3 years or so because they have so little school.

Because there are so many needing school they have 3 school times with 4 hour sessions. Morning, Mid-morning and afternoon, for older grades they have evening classes. I have seen how having a tutor has really helped...Enia has learned to love school and she is practicing very hard this year to improve her writing skills. I see her practicing all the time.

They teach cursive writing before printing and in 2ND grade she wants to get better at that. Pretty impressive!

I was so blessed by receiving letters and a package from home while in South Africa. Thanks so much for your encouraging letters and news from home as well as pictures. I was blessed with a ranch dressing packets and fajita seasonings and so I made fajitas while in South Africa. I can get things easier and it was so good!

Email Enia and I and let us know how you all are doing!

Angie and Enia
