Homeschooling or Remote Learning due to Covid-19

I’ve always wanted to homeschool my boys; I have heard so many pros and cons about homeschooling too. Even if I wanted too, my husband does not approve of me and homeschooling.

But things changed and 2-3 months ago when a Pandemic happened. Schools closed, establishment shut down and more…

And homeschooling is required in order to pursue our boy's education. And there were my wishes came true. Not the ways I wanted it to happen, but things happened for a reason.

No one will care about the way you look at home.. LOL

I have heard from some parents that they would prefer to send their kids to school, they were having some trouble of their kids not listening to them, and also, its different with somebody else teach their kids rather than them as their kids don’t listen at all.

For my views, it’s different, I have taught my boys to write, read, and do basic school learning since the day they know what’s going on. At first, it is very hard and frustrating. Challenges you in every possible portion, yet in the end, it comes VERY much Handy. There is a lot different when parents and teachers teach kids. For teachers, went to a school and get a degree on how to do it, but parent’s teachings should always be an instinct.

This was taken months ago when both started to be homeschooled. Comment from the UPK one is that “he loves to be homeschooled, he does not need to wake up too early and can learn even when he is in his play clothes”. There is no comment from my oldest about remote learning and it seems he enjoys being at home while learning.

Halloween 2018..

I don’t want to miss out of sharing what our boy’s costumes during this year’s Trick or Treat. Chaos chooses to be a PIKACHU a famous Pokemon Character and the youngest has always wear the hand-me-down costume which is a NINJA. Both likes to be their unique CHARACTERS this year and I’m happy to see them both excited to go out trick or treat dressing up.

Weather is quite bad too; it’s raining and muddy outside. I don’t expect that there will be many who will go out tonight for the trick or treat. But we shall see, it’s a good weather to stay up until 8pm but when it’s damp outside and wet? Some people would never go that far at all. I would not blame them.

So far, around 6pm the boys headed out along with my nephew this time. It was his first Trick or Treating so he went along with the boys and his Uncle. My niece and I were the one who stayed home. I wanted to go, but I need to hand out candies for the kids to come over as well.

Like my prediction, there were not many who came. And we’ve got plenty of candies to eat. Nevertheless, my goddaughter came with her parents for a quick stop of trick and treating. The couple was beautiful as they also dress up as Mr. & Mrs. Vampire.

RHJ 2018 HALLOWEEN PARADE

FINALLY SEES AND HEARS US AFTER YELLING FOR HIS NAME...

Earlier that day, the Elementary is having their Halloween Parade at school. So my sister and I went to see my son walked along with other students by class on their parade. It was only a short one, as there were not many pupils in that school. It’s fun to see the whole employee walked with their costumes too, seeing the kids walk is more treasure to see.

Third Grader School Year 2018-2019

Kids nowadays do grow up too fast. The next thing you knew, they are in Middle School, but not our Kuya K. Well he still suddenly sprouts especially after when we got back from our 2 months vacation to the Philippines. He didn’t come with us this year, since come home later of September and I don’t want him to miss his first day of 3^rd Grade.

However, I did miss it though, so I asked my niece to take a picture of him when she walks him towards the bus stop, which is by the road. Of course, he is not a big fan of smiling in the camera, the turd didn’t at all.

Even though I wasn’t there, the mixtures of emotions again happened. I guess, I will never get over this feeling at all. And so he is off to the bus and went to school. Later on that day, I asked him how the first day was, and of course the usual answer was “It is Okay.”

Yay!! To the first day and hope for the next months to come.

He turned 8 this year!!!

Time flies quicker than we can imagine. If you are busy with your daily routine life you will not see that birthdays, anniversaries and other events in life is fast approaching.

Just like the 8^th birthday of our first born son. It seems like it was just yesterday when I was struggling to pushed him out into that delivery room and cried and looking for my Mama because of the contractions.

Then another year passed it was his first birthday celebration, and then today earlier this year he turned 8.

Still the sweetest, smartest, very quite (if he feels shy) and good son up to now. We do hope he will continue to be one. I have decided to invite family during our dinner celebration. He seems to be very happy this day, as his other friend was here as well to celebrate with him.

Sunday Class 2018, 2nd Grade

Lately this year, our 8 years old started his Sunday school since the beginning of the school year. Because, we don’t have Religion subject in their school, and as a Roman Catholic, it is my duty to introduce my children into my Religion. Some people might think about why not giving them a chance to pick the Religion they wanted when they grow up? What if they are not happy of the Religion they have now? My answer will be REALLY???!!!!..... REALLY!!!! LOL…

Anyways, I do ignore those questions from other people who don’t know my devotion.

We have our own ways to send and brought our children on earth. And this is our way to introduced them who God is, and how important He is in our lives.

I have to send our son to a 9 o’clock Sunday School in our Parish and then we proceed to attend the Holy Eucharist afterwards. Whenever they don’t have Sunday Class, I skipped the Mass, however I do listened to the online Eucharist which is from a different state, it is live and from a Notre Dame Parish.

They baked bread during the class; I would assume it has to do with the upcoming Lent. Our sons always bring some papers after the class and it’s a great way to him to re-read the information at home.

Lunch at Jollibee inside the Terminal

It wasn’t the first time my children dine-in at the famous Filipino fast food named Jollibee. Actually, I am not sure how many times they have dine-in at the fast food. For sure both had their first meal at New York City and it was already being scrapbook for keep sake.

However, we need to have our lunch at the Terminal before taking off. For we will be landed at General Santos City Airport pass lunch time, and we don’t want to travel kids with a hungry stomach. Of course, there is no doubt in my mind to take the travelers with me at Jollibee.

As expected, the place is packed. Good thing there were stall outside of other fast food chain in the Terminal. We got the chance to sit in but we have to make sure we take order from them too. In order to prevent the hassle we did. My Mama and Papa did order their lunch in that food stall so we will have somewhere to sit. It was a very filling lunch for everyone else.

Before we left, I asked my boys to stand right next to the Jollibee Statue for a quick souvenir. However, there is this one little kid who is also a big fan of the said Mascot and would never leave the place. He is also adorable, but that didn’t stop me from taking a photo of my boys. I don’t want to miss something that I can show them in the future.

After a quick break and strolling, we proceeded to our gate number to get prepared for our final destination bound to Gensan. I find it very nice although, I feel bad for myself as when I picked my parent’s seats, I didn’t know that I can put them into the front seat so my Mother don’t need to walk that far. But she managed to make it, she was fine, I think just exhausted and all.

Also, that day was the big fight of the Philippines Champ Boxer, Manny Paquiao. We didn’t really watch the whole fight, but thanks to the free WiFi in NAIA 3, we did watch a posted live video on Facebook, in which gives us something to do while boarding time started.

I better start digging all the pictures I have during our 2017 Philippines Vacation. That way, I have other things to show here as well.

A Visit to Katanggawan Place

It was one humid day when my Papa decided to visit one of their properties and this time it was at Katanggawan. I’ve heard about this area before, but I have not gone to see that place myself. So, without any question I took the boy with me just to wander around the area and of course to see the place myself.

Geared them up and sprayed with Mosquito repellent to prevent them from being bitten. And I just want to make sure that the boys will be safe, it’s very common to get a dengue fever in the Philippines due to the weather and so many mosquitoes in any places.

It was one night morning so the humidity wasn’t as bad as it used to be. I don’t have pictures for souvenirs because I think I left my phone at home. I am not sure if I brought it with me. The thought of the humidity and the mosquito bites on me just truly makes me not think about taking pictures.

It would be a good memories to have it with me, as Mama was also there with me. We buy snacks from the walking vendor, a popcorn and some thing else that I don’t even remember the name.

Maybe next time, during our visit I will be able to take more pictures so I will be able to post it here.

Pumpkin Carving 2017 what did we carve?

I’ve got to blog about our 2017 Pumpkin Carving with the family and plus we have an additional member of the family circle. No! I am not pregnant again. The newest member because my niece is with us this year and it is her very first time to carve pumpkins. You see, we don’t do this in the Philippines, we don’t have this much big pumpkins or not that I am aware of. So, this year is an extra special for working on it.

The place where we used to buy our pumpkins doesn’t have much grown this year. They said they have a bad/slow year for good pumpkins and so, they have limited good ones for sale.

We ended up buying to the local store, and not sure where exactly it is originated. Still, we heard that one of our local farmer’s still has some good pumpkins left. And we drove our way to the place to get the rest of the 2 pumpkins. We have 4 this year.

Looking for the prototype isn’t hard nothing like before. All I did is to seek out online for the ones I sought and so was the rest of the family. We selected JACK from the Nightmare before Christmas, OWL’s Head for my 7 years old [thankful he finally joined to carve the pumpkin this year]. I’ve got the GRAVEYARDone and since my pumpkin isn’t too big, it was very hard to carve those tiny and thin parts. I managed it and come up with somewhat pretty close.

My husband picked his own outline as he was busy fixing our Water Heater Tank as it was leaking in, which is another story that I would like to share next time. He has multiple patterns, nevertheless end up with a MAD PUMPKIN feature. Not sure specifically, yet it turned out to be pretty awesome.

We never forget to save the seeds of course, and since we have big pumpkins, there are more seeds as well. We baked and seasoned it, then munched it as a snack. This year, the husband didn’t cook it well and so we still have more sitting on our table, wondering when will it be eaten.

Moreover, we have put our pumpkins outside the house for decorations, lit the candle we have inside and it looked even better.

Halloween 2017 Kid’s Costume this year!

I have all things figured out since last Halloween of what my kids going to wear. Of course, the little one will always or has to wear the hand me down costume of his Kuya when he was his age and thank goodness for the safety plastic bags that keeps the clothes clean and new the little one’s costume still looks brand new. Mind you it is 4 years old now.

With Ate Pretty...A not so Wicked Witch....

Kuya K has worn it when he was 3 years old and now our little one will turn 3 on December yet, he is big enough to wear the costume, in which I find it just perfect for him to be Robin.

Caleve is a Robin or the Captain of the Teen Titans Cartoon Character. I’m happy that he wore the mask. And that he was all dressed up when I got home from work. Very excited to walk for a trick or treat.

Kuya wished to be one of the Avengers and so it was also a perfect timing when I went to Walmart to purchase an on Sale Costumer for him. It was 50% or 70% off of that time, I can’t remember and I’m not buying something that he will only wear once or twice for a full retail price. I’m cheap when it comes to this product because they are expensive if you don’t wait until clearance or when they become Sale, which I can get 90% off or free.

Captain America is missing his Shield, I totally forget about that until my Papa mentioned where is his Shield? It wasn’t included in the costume when I purchased it, also it was lame of me not to make him one. My Papa suggested to use a lid of a wok instead, but I have not time to make it anymore. The good thing is that they don’t have enemies that day, for my son to use the Shield….lol!

And as for Pretty, it was un-intentional for her to join the trick or treating. Yet, I’m happy that she put on some makeup and became a Wicked Witch. We don’t have a costume for her, but she did wear a black clothes after all.

She joined the gang for a trick or treat house to house, never intended to join, however, everyone kept asking her if she would like some candies, and that’s when she decided to just go trick or treating with the boys.

They got lots of candies, but not as many as last year. Of course, it didn’t help when the weather outside was 43F cold and windy. The fun thing is that even though they went home early, they go house to house for a trick or treat candies also it was Pretty’s first time to go trick or treating.

Preparations for a Home Renovation

Swimming Lesson Fall 2017

Another season of my first born’s swimming lesson. And this time, he is doing great, no longer shy turd, but now becoming more interactive with other kids and he seems to be doing well.

Last year my husband’s Aunt had to go down by the pool to encourage him to swim back and forth in order to get used to swimming and to practice the skills even more.

This time, I’m glad I don’t need to go down right next to the pool and walk just for him to swim and practice more.

It was a nice and fun beginning of the season, there were so many students with different aids to help them.

Looking forward to be better in the next few weeks.

Designing Cornhole Boards

Cornhole is a fun game that you can play outside with your family and friends. It's easy to set up and doesn't take up a lot of space. There are numerous designs that you can create with cornhole sets, such as sports themes, hobbies or favorite colors. You can add lights and special effects to the boards for added flair. If you like making the sets, you can go into business creating them so that you can make a little extra money.

Before you make or buy any kind of cornhole boards, you should look at the dimensions. Easter Sunday 2017, Easter Bunny came by too

This is a very late upload and post. Just can’t keep up with everything at once, plus I’m slacking a lot and the supposed to be posting this simple post to keep everyone updated.

Anyways, this was last Easter Sunday, when Easter Bunny actually came and bring goodies to the kids. After church, the kids had fun digging up their Easter basket. They even have a big box that I don’t remember what it was.

It was a fun to watch the kids and their goody baskets and all, and thinking about the Bunny who hopped from house to house to deliver the baskets to good kids is another fun to think.

However, I never forget to tell them the importance of why we are celebrating the Easter Sunday. It’s about Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to save us from our sin and was risen on the third day.

Kid’s Safety with their Car Seats

I have a Second Grader now Plus a Senior Student too!

Time flies so fast! After all the things that happened during the Summer Season, I almost didn’t realize that I do have now a Second Grader Student. I tried to hold back my tears for the First day of school because I know even if it’s okay to be emotional, I just don’t want it.

Also, this time, we have our niece all the way from the Philippines to become a Senior this year at Frewsburg High School. It would be a totally adjustment for her, because not only through her studies as the whole culture itself.

They said that it’s easy for kids to adjust and adapt the new environment, however, we want to make sure that she is comfortable and happy with the new place. Temporarily she’ll stay with us, since she went to the School District in our town, and by law you must be living within the District.

Everyone woke up early on the first day until now and hope it will be like this until the end of this year.

Everything seems pretty jolly and happy with our Second Grader and Senior Students.

And after school, they both have a great First day. All I can hope for is a great school year for both, especially to our Senior Student.

Caleve's First Train Ride and it was in New York City

He always like trucks, vehicles and trains and never thought that sooner he will be able to ride in one. This happened when my son and I visited New York City to do some important errands. Of course, my good family friend has a car that picked us up from the airport. Because her youngest was sick and we need to go back to the Philippine Consulate, and went to her first born’s graduation ceremony. We took a train instead the next day, also I like it that way because this is a great way to actually be one of the locals and enjoy the busy place that I have never encountered in my laid back county, in which I am not looking forward to live in, lol.

Going in and out isn’t a hassle, but if you do have a toddler and a stroller climbing up and down is a workout. A good way for pretty Charmaine and I to help along with the lifting.

We did not get any seat right away, my son was bored sitting in his stroller and in the middle of the aisle. It was nearly 2 more stops before we could be seated. Of course, there were two American Man who could’ve removed their belonging on the seat and make a room for us, but NO!!!! THERE ARE NO LONGER GENTLEMEN left.. Well, except for my husband. To pissed them both off since we stand right next to them, I let my son cry, lol. But nothing!!! These men do have a heart of a rock!!! I promised myself that my boys will never be like these people.

Moving on, after we were seated my son finally stopped crying. Because he can finally the view outside and of course, I’m holding him. It’s too scary to be with all these unknown faces in a crowded place.

He loved the views and he can see those houses, buildings, some trees and when it stopped he sees more unfamiliar faces. Then when the train runs, he likes it because it doesn’t make that much noise inside.

I thought, to get a photo of him while he enjoys the scenery and I’m glad I did, someday he will be able to sees all of this when he is old.

Caleve’s First Airplane Ride

I was a little bit nervous not because my son and I will be heading to New York City for 3 days, but because it will be our son’s first plane ride. I’m nervous he might be cranky in the plane and would make everyone else’s feel annoyed, though I don’t really care, yet the feeling he just might not like those ears popping and the turbulence.

When we are late to take our seats inside, he was pretty much calm. I gave him some treats so he’ll munch it and won’t be able to noticed the whole taking off of the plane. He sits and is very good in his seat at all, my suspicions were wrong and I feel relieved that everything is very smooth until we landed.

Of course, he was too busy eating his goodies and never pays attention to the whole situation. He watched the tv on the plane and just being a good 2 year old. I tried to show him the clouds and stuff, since it was raining there wasn’t much to look at but all those heavy clouds.

As for me, I tried to browse on my phone to find a good deal about luna guitars at guitarcenter.com and just need something to pass the time. Yet, I have found interesting information instead.

It was a quick airplane ride and I’m glad that our son was pretty cool about everything.

OFF to Dental Appointment

The kids dental appointment was last month, but for some reason that I have never seen my son’s gum on the side of his right cheek were being bitten by himself while sleeping. Even he doesn’t know what’s going on and I feel terrified, and embarrassed because it feels like I don’t know anything what’s going on with my son. That’s one thing that I missed because I don’t see that part often at all.

Because of that, his Dentist mentioned something about sealing. I was pretty much occupied with my 2 year old son that I was confused on the sealing she mentioned. Today, I’ll definitely ask her more information about what does she need to seal?

Though, it will take at least 80 minutes drive back and forth, I’ll have to take this opportunity to take the kids myself for a quick road trip. I do not like driving that far, but what can I do? Daddy is working and I’m in-charge of all these errands.

Got at the Dental office earlier than our time and we were done quickly. She made a filing on 4 molars. The same thing, he doesn’t seem to have a cavity that much, but of course just the molars. In like a few minutes, we headed back home and I ran into some couponing errands and went to the Mall for my Victoria secret exchange item in which it turned out to be a pretty nice day. Instead of getting only 1 bra, because the online did pretty complicated thing, they credited me with $20 and got my bralette not one but two as well as got all my free panties too.

Spring Break is ON…

After weeks of the last Winter Break now comes the Spring Break and I am loving it. It is not that I don’t like getting up, helping our 1^st Grader get ready for school, in which I should enjoy (you might think I’m crazy, however this will never last) soon enough they are old not to rely on us and be more independent.

I also need some time to sleep in, having a rambunctious two year old is a blessing yet sometimes drains me out. For now, I am his world and I love it, in which I’d like to take advantage, but sometimes I just need rest as I cannot do anything on my own without him being too attached.

I am thankful that Spring Break is here and we all get to sleep in, well, except our Dada who has to work to support us [we truly appreciate his hard work for us].

Now, we can either go outside and wander or stay inside longer in our pajamas and just watch movies, play or just being what we normally do.

As for me, I get more time to finish all the sidelines, I’m doing online and offline. I can share good deals when it comes in finding a nice fbv. I might be able to share good deals for your little ones.

I grow up in an environment or culture that has superstitious beliefs. There are times that this belief do makes sense and others are just way too tiring. I mean, others would find it ridiculous, and some don’t and find it quite useful to prevent things from certain happening. There’s nothing wrong or you won’t lose anything if you follow them through.

Until now I have had a few beliefs that I carried with me as I live my life. I believe it’s because the way I was brought up and so I will enclose them. Sounds ridiculous, except that is life.

One of the beliefs I carried along with me is when someone read my palm that someday, I’ll be able to get married, however, I have to cross an ocean first before that happens and this will be something far. This is what our boys did one day when the oldest showed me that he can climb the post in our living room. I wasn’t sure that he will because it’s rare for him to dare until he actually showed me and hold on a little bit longer because I want to capture this moment.

Of course, whatever Kuya is doing the little one copies him a lot. He tries to climb too, but unfortunately he can only hold on just where you saw him.

Kids are too funny, they’ll show you the great things they have done or not. I’m glad Kuya did showed me that he is ready for climbing now. I mentioned to him that, once we visited Philippines I will let him climb in a papaya tree, or guava tree. So he can either get me some of the fruits or he can just hang out up there. As long as he will be careful, though.

I even teased him that he does climbed like a monkey, or maybe he is one? He just chuckled.

After that, I told him to get down so never climbed that post again, as his little brother will execute whatever he will do. We don’t want anyone to get hurt for trying without their mama or papa around.

So, I proceeded upstairs to check about guitar center grand rapids and what it can benefit me.

A Note to Santa

It was an amazing thing to think about kid’s imagination. It reminded me of mine while I was growing up. Because I read a lot, I do have this incredible imaginations that most of the time some thinks I’m going nuts.

I have a huge idea that sometimes I’m scared to share with because people might think differently or it’s way too impossible. Well, enough about me. I’d like to share the note that our 7 years old wrote last Christmas.

It started when he got busy writing and taking some of my Post-it. Because I didn’t ask him what is he writing about.

Not until, I have noticed that he actually wrote a note for Santa. Apparently, it started when I told my husband about what this kid in the Mall did when he saw Santa walking.

The kid, judging from what I saw he is at least 6-7 years old, too, actually run towards Santa and call him and even hugged him. Just melts my heart on how this kid truly believes in Santa.

Little did I know that our Dodong was listening to my story and eventually wants to see Santa himself too. And so the note was written.

Earlier this month my son’s class sent him this form to ensure that we, the parents do track their reading time while they aren’t at school. This is a good reminder for parents who are busy and to make sure that their kids do read a book every day.

Reading is good, gives you so much knowledge and awareness about everything. This is why, I always encourage our 7 years old son to at least read a book every day, after we let him play outside or to any electronic device. I always remind him that reading is really good and helps him with his class to be able to understand his lessons as well.

I feel like I make him read a repetitive book because I’m sure he already read all the more appropriate for his age books we possess at home. Even when he borrowed a book from his school Library, it seems he already read it, before he brought it home with him.

I have tried to download free ebooks so he could directly just read it from his Kindle App, and that too is also limited. I need to make sure that, those books he is reading actually makes sense.

So far, his Tracking Chart is almost finished, he did accumulate the allotted hours that is required so he can submit the logs back to his school. And hopping he will be able to get the ticket back for a free pass to a theme park and the water park.

It seems like time flies so fast and you don’t even noticed some of the things happened that grows so fast. It’s not that I don’t give attention to our son, yet I do every single minute that I see him [of course, this is when he isn’t at school].

Today, was one of my happiest moments ever! The day that we finally became parents of this wonderful little boy. Well, not so little anymore because time continues and so is he.

A brilliant boy who has so many amazing imaginations, smarts in any ways and most important one of a kind, unique good son. He has tantrums, we all do, but we are so glad that he is growing to be beautiful kid.

Wishing you always the best and always be a good and kindhearted boy as we want you to be. You might not be able to read this post now, I’ll do my best in the later time this blog will still be around so when you came across on this page one day. You’ll know how much your Dad and I with your brother loves you so dearly.

Morning Routine

In the past months, this was our morning routine while waiting for the bus. As long as the weather outside isn’t too cold, we choose to walk and so the kids would be able to have fun while waiting for their school bus.

Of course, as you noticed, our youngest also takes his time playing with the big kids and his brother while watching them ride in the bus and off to school.

Someone seem so happy with the snow...

Lately, it is just between my two sons. Also, our neighbor who happens to be my Dodong’s former classmate and friend still rides on the bus with him. So, it’s fun to watch them having fun every morning. They do give me joy all the time.

In the meanwhile, I never know what is the proper name of the stand that’s being used lighting truss until now. It’s a good way to sometimes browse things unusual ways.
