Δεν υπάρχει (πολιτικό) αύριο για όσους ψηφίσουν σήμερα

Ηχηρό μήνυμα προς την κυβέρνηση (που εξ όσων ακούγονται αυτές τις μέρες από τα πλέον επίσημα χείλη δεν λαμβάνεται) και κυρίως προς την Ευρώπη (που χωρίς αμφιβολία το λαμβάνει για τον φόβο του οικονομικού και του κοινωνικού ντόμινο), δίνουν από χθες οι Έλληνες
στις μεγαλύτερες και πιο ογκώδεις διαδηλώσεις που οργανώνονται σε όλες τις ελληνικές πόλεις.

Για πρώτη ίσως φορά, τα διεθνή μέσα ενημέρωσης δεν δίνουν έμφαση στα έκτροπα, αλλά στη σκληρή ελληνική πραγματικότητα, μιλώντας για έναν λαό που έχει οδηγηθεί στα όριά του και διερωτώμενα ως πού μπορεί να φθάσει η εξουθένωση ενός λαού πριν διασωθεί.

Ακόμη και οι εικόνες από τα επεισόδια χρησιμοποιήθηκαν από τα διεθνή μέσα ενημέρωσης για να σταλεί το μήνυμα στους Ευρωπαίους ηγέτες, εν όψει του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου της Κυριακής, ότι η κοινωνική αναταραχή μπορεί να οδηγήσει σε απρόβλεπτες εξελίξεις ολόκληρη την Ευρώπη.

Η κυβέρνηση από την πλευρά της δεν δείχνει να αντιλαμβάνεται τίποτε. Ούτε είναι διατεθειμένη να χρησιμοποιήσει την λαϊκή οργή για να επιτύχει κάτι καλύτερο την προσεχή Κυριακή.

Αυτό τουλάχιστον μαρτυρά η χθεσινή ομιλία του υπουργού των Οικονομικών Ευάγγελου Βενιζέλου στη Βουλή, που δίνει μάχη για να υπερψηφιστεί σήμερα το πολυνομοσχέδιο, την ώρα που, αν και είναι ο κυρίως αρμόδιος και ο πλέον λαλίστατος, δεν έχει ακόμη πει ποια είναι η κόκκινη γραμμή της κυβέρνησης στο προσεχές Ευρωπαϊκό Συμβούλιο.

Περιορίστηκε να δηλώσει ότι «θα ζητήσουμε οριστική λύση», αλλά απέφυγε να πει ποια θα είναι αυτή η λύση. Το μόνο που έκανε ήταν να καταφύγει στην μέθοδο της τρομοκράτησης, προειδοποιώντας τους βουλευτές του κόμματός του πως αν καταψηφιστεί το νομοσχέδιο «δεν υπάρχει αύριο», δεν υπάρχει «επόμενη μέρα», υπάρχει μόνο «επόμενη νύχτα»!

Είπε επίσης πως η ψήφιση του νομοσχεδίου «είναι το εισιτήριο μας για να πάμε στη διαπραγμάτευση για τη βιωσιμότητα του δημοσίου χρέους» και δήλωσε ότι χωρίς αυτό δεν μπορεί να κλείσει ο προϋπολογισμός του 2011, ούτε να διαμορφωθεί ο προϋπολογισμός του 2012.

Αποδέχθηκε δηλαδή πως η κυβέρνηση διοικεί τη χώρα εκβιαζόμενη και αποκάλυψε πως δεν έχει στη φαρέτρα της άλλο διαπραγματευτικό χαρτί εκτός από την πειθήνια εφαρμογή των πιο παράλογων απαιτήσεων των δανειστών.

Ο κ. Βενιζέλος είπε επίσης πως μέχρι την Κυριακή «δίνουμε τη μάχη των μαχών», κάνοντας αναφορά στις αδυναμίες της Ευρώπης και καλώντας τη (την Ευρώπη) να αντιληφθεί την ιστορικότητα της στιγμής!

Στο μεταξύ, αποδέχθηκε ότι είναι ανάγκη η χώρα και ο λαός της να τιμωρηθούν περνώντας από το Καθαρτήριο, για αμαρτίες του πολιτικού συστήματος – στο οποίο και ο ίδιος ανήκει.

Την ίδια ώρα, τα μηνύματα από το εξωτερικό είναι αντιφατικά.

Ο μεν Έβαλντ Νοβότνι, μέλος του διοικητικού συμβουλίου της Ευρωπαϊκής Κεντρικής Τράπεζας, δήλωσε χθες ότι η Ελλάδα ούτε θα χρεοκοπήσει ούτε θα αναγκαστεί να βγει από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.

Η δε Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, μέσω έρευνας που δημοσιοποίησε χθες, προβλέπει χρεοκοπία της Ελλάδας και μάλιστα πριν από τον Μάρτιο του 2012.

Το πρόβλημα είναι πως όλοι, όποια κι’ αν είναι η γνώμη τους, δεν συνδέουν το ελληνικό πρόβλημα και την επίλυσή του με κανένα νομοσχέδιο για την εργασιακή εφεδρεία, αλλά με αυτό καθαυτό το χρέος της χώρας που είναι θηριώδες και δεν είναι διαχειρίσιμο – όσα μέτρα και αν ληφθούν, όση εκδικητικότητα και αν επιδειχθεί απέναντι στον ελληνικό λαό.

Γι’ αυτό άλλωστε, κατά την συνάντησή του χθες με τον Πρόεδρο της Δημοκρατίας, ο κ. Βενιζέλος κατέβασε τον πήχη, λέγοντας πως δεν πρέπει να έχουμε μεγάλες προσδοκίες για τη Σύνοδο Κορυφής της Κυριακής.

Δεν παρέλειψε, βέβαια, να μιλήσει για πατριωτικό καθήκον, το οποίο επιτελεί η κυβέρνηση, διότι «πρέπει να γίνει αντιληπτό ότι κάνουμε έναν πόλεμο».

Αλλά επειδή υπάρχει και εσωκομματικός πόλεμος – και για να χρυσώσει το χάπι - ο κ. Βενιζέλος, μετά από συνεννόηση, όπως είπε, που είχε με τον πρόεδρο της Ένωσης Ελληνικών Τραπεζών και πρόεδρο της Εθνικής Τράπεζας Βασίλη Ράπανο, έκανε αποδεκτή την πρόταση σχεδίου νόμου της κ. Λούκας Κατσέλη και πλειάδας κυβερνητικών βουλευτών, που ζήτησαν ρύθμιση των δανείων τα οποία έχουν λάβει οι προοριζόμενοι για την εργασιακή εφεδρεία δημόσιοι υπάλληλοι.

Όσο για την δραματική έκφραση «δεν υπάρχει αύριο» χωρίς το μοναδικής έμπνευσης (και αμφιβόλου αποτελεσματικότητας σε σχέση με το πραγματικό πρόβλημα της χώρας) πολυνομοσχέδιο, συνέπεσε με τις μεγαλύτερες διαδηλώσεις που γνώρισε ποτέ η χώρα.

Είναι σαφές ότι ο λαός στέλνει το μήνυμα πως ούτε αύριο υπάρχει, ούτε σήμερα!

Και οπωσδήποτε, δεν υπάρχει (πολιτικό) αύριο για όσους ψηφίσουν σήμερα, αν και γνωρίζουν πως δεν έχουν τέτοια λαϊκή εντολή…

Στον εισαγγελέα οδηγήθηκαν σήμερα οι επτά συλληφθέντες κατά τη διάρκεια των χθεσινών επεισοδίων στο κέντρο της Αθήνας
Η ασφάλεια είχε σχηματίσει δύο δικογραφίες.

Η πρώτη αφορούσε συλλήψεις τεσσάρων ατόμων, εκ των οποίων οι τρεις είναι ανήλικοι. Η δίωξη που ασκήθηκε εναντίον είναι για κατασκευή και κατοχή εκρηκτικών βομβών, αδίκημα που τιμωρείται σε βαθμό κακουργήματος.

Η δεύτερη δικογραφία αφορά συλλήψεις τριών ατόμων εκ των οποίων το ένα αντιμετωπίζει κακουργήματα και τα άλλα δύο πλημμελήματα.

Τα κακουργήματα είναι: διατάραξη κοινής ειρήνης, με βάση τις διατάξεις του αποκαλούμενου «κουκουλονόμου», έκρηξη, προμήθεια και κατοχή εκρηκτικών βομβών και απόπειρα βαριάς σκοπούμενης σωματικής βλάβης σε βάρος αστυνομικών.

Τα δύο πλημμελήματα είναι: απόπειρα επικίνδυνης σωματικής βλάβης και αντίσταση κατά της αρχής.

Σύμφωνα με ρεπορτάζ της γερμανικής εφημερίδας «Bild», η ηλικιωμένη γυναίκα βιώνει τις δραματικές συνέπειες της οικονομικής κρίσης στην Ελλάδα, καθώς αυτή τη στιγμή ζει υπό το καθεστώς της απόλυτης φτώχειας.

«Δεν πήρα τίποτα παραπάνω από την κληρονομιά της οικογένειας. Μόνο μία σύνταξη, η οποία λόγω των περικοπών μειώθηκε στα 300 ευρώ. Δεν μπορώ να πιστέψω την κατάσταση στην οποία έχει περιέλθει η Ελλάδα», εξομολογείται η 90χρονη σε δημοσιογράφο της εφημερίδας, ο οποίος τη συνάντησε στην κουζίνα μίας εκκλησίας στην Αθήνα.

Λιβύη - Δυνάμεις του εθνικού Μεταβατικού Συμβουλίου της χώρας συνέλαβαν τον στρατηγό Καντάφι

Τον πρώην ισχυρό άνδρα της Λιβύης συνέλαβαν δυνάμεις του εθνικού Μεταβατικού Συμβουλίου της χώρας, σύμφωνα με εκπρόσωπο του Συμβουλίου

Πληροφορίες από την ίδια πηγή, όπως μεταδίδει το Reuters, ανέφεραν πως ο Συνταγματάρχης είναι τραυματισμένος στα πόδια.

«Συνελήφθη. Είναι τραυματισμένος και στα δύο πόδια και μεταφέρθηκε με ασθενοφόρο», δήλωσε στο πρακτορείο ο εκπρόσωπος του Συμβουλίου Αμπντέλ Ματζίντ. Ο Συνταγματάρχης συνελήφθη κοντά στη Σύρτη την ώρα που επιχειρούσε να διαφύγει με αυτοκινητοπομπή η οποία δέχθηκε επίθεση από δυνάμεις του ΝΑΤΟ.

Μαχητής του Μεταβατικού συμβουλίου δήλωσε πως ήταν αυτόπτης μάρτυρας της σύλληψης.

Την πληροφορία μετέδωσε και η τηλεόραση της Λιβύης ενώ το αμερικανικό υπουργείο Εξωτερικών και το ΝΑΤΟ δεν την έχουν μέχρι στιγμής επιβεβαιώσει.

Λίγο νωρίτερα οι αντικαθεστωτικοί της Λιβύης είχαν ανακοινώσει πως είχαν καταλάβει πλήρως τη γενέτειρα του Καντάφι, τη Σύρτη, εκδιώκοντας τους τελευταίους μαχητές των κανταφικών δυνάμεων από τις θέσεις που κρατούσαν.

This morning, Saab's parent company Swedish Automobile N.V. (Swan) said it has accepted new funding from U.S. private-equity group North Street Capital, which is interested in Spyker.

The equity firm is paying US$10 million for 2.39 million new shares Swan while also providing a further US$60 million as a loan that will be "collateralized by a first lien on certain assets of Saab Automobile as well as a second lien on the collateral as pledged to NDO".

French carmaker Peugeot has released its third new model into the Chinese market in the last eighteen months, the 308 compact sedan, which made its debut at the at the Chengdu Motor Show in mid-September this year.

Manufactured locally in cooperation with Peugeot's Chinese partner Dongfeng Motor Corporation, the new 308 Sedan joins the carmaker's extended offerings in the C-segment that also include the 307 and 408 saloons.

Peugeot said that with the new launch, it intends to strengthen its presence within the very competitive category, with a full year sales target of 60,000 units.

[Honda-C70] 82 Leg shield to 81

Just been wondering. Would an 82-83 leg shield fit onto an 81 C70? I've got an 81 and have been liking the look of of the 82 shield since it gives more room in the center for stuff. I don't have an air filter box anymore since I've got that Lifan 140.

How would it attach at the front head badge? I notice that the 81 and 82 shields are a bit different at that part of attachment.

Πάτρα - Ομάδα 40 αντιεξουσιαστών μπήκε σε super market άρπαξε τρόφιμα και τα μοίρασε

Μια ομάδα 40 περίπου αντιεξουσιαστών μπήκε σήμερα Πέμπτη 20 Οκτωβρίου σε σούπερ μάρκετ της Πάτρας και με καλυμμένα τα πρόσωπά τους με κουκούλες άρπαξαν τρόφιμα από τα ράφια.

Στη συνέχεια πήγαν στη λαϊκή αγορά της Αγίας Σοφίας που λειτουργούσε κοντά στο κατάστημα, σύμφωνα με τα τοπικά Μέσα, και μοίρασαν τα προϊόντα στους πολίτες.

Η αστυνομία δεν πρόλαβε να αντιδράσει, ενώ οι πολίτες στην αρχή ξαφνιάστηκαν αλλά στη συνέχεια αποδέχτηκαν τα τρόφιμα που τους διένειμαν οι αντιεξουσιαστές.

Με σκληρή κριτική ξεκίνησε η Β.Παπανδρέου την ομιλία της στη Βουλή. Χαρακτηριστική είναι η φράση της «Παραπαίουμε πολιτικά, κοινωνικά οικονομικά .Έχουμε τεράστιες ευθύνες»

«Δυστυχώς καταφέραμε να θεωρούμαστε το κέντρο του προβλήματος» τόνισε η Βάσω Παπανδρέου από το βήμα της Βουλής και ανακοίνωσε ότι μετά τη συνάντηση της με τον Γιώργο Παπανδρέου θα ψηφίσει το άρθρο 37, αλλά όπως είπε είναι η τελευταία φορά. «Με διαβεβαίωσε ο πρωθυπουργός ότι αν δεν ψηφιστεί έστω και ένα άρθρο δεν θα πάρουμε την 6η δόση.Ψηφίζω αλλά έχω συνειδησιακό θέμα» είπε χαρακτηριστικά.

Τέλος, επεσήμανε ότι από το Νοέμβριο του 2009 είχε χτυπήσει το «καμπανάκι» για τη λήψη μέτρων, όμως δεν εισακούστηκε.

Μεγαλειώδεις συγκεντρώσεις σε όλη τη χώρα...και κρεμάλες για τους βουλευτές

Στη Θεσσαλονίκη, μέλη του ΠΑΜΕ και των πρωτοβάθμιων σωματείων τσακώθηκαν και βρίστηκαν μεταξύ τους, στη γενική γραμματεία Μακεδονίας Θράκης.

Κάποια στιγμή μάλιστα, μέλη πρωτοβάθμιων σωματείων πέταξαν σκουπίδια στα μέλη του ΠΑΜΕ. Τα "πυρά" των διαδηλωτών πρωτοβάθμιων σωματείων δέχθηκε και ο γενικός γραμματέας του ΠΑΜΕ Σωτήρης Ζαριανόπουλος.

Στην Κάτω Αχαϊα, έφτιαξαν κρεμάλες για τους βουλευτές. Αγανακτισμένοι πολίτες έστησαν 9 κρεμάλες σε κεντρική πλατεία, στέλνοντας το δικό τους μήνυμα οργής προς τους βουλευτές, για το πολυνομοσχέδιο...

Μάλιστα σε κάθε κρεμάλα έχει γραφτεί και το όνομα του Βουλευτή, με τον χαρακτηρισμό "προδότης".

Στην Πάτρα, ολοκληρώθηκε λίγο μετά τη 13.00 η συγκέντρωση που πραγματοποίησαν στους κεντρικούς δρόμους της πόλης τα πρωτοβάθμια Σωματεία του Εργατικού Κέντρου. Στην ουρά της πορείας βρίσκονταν περίπου 300 αντιεξουσιαστές οι οποίοι μάλιστα παραμένουν συγκεντρωμένοι έξω από το Παράρτημα του Πανεπιστημίου στην οδό Κορίνθου. Αρκετοί από τους νεαρούς φέρουν κράνη και φορούν κουκούλες. Κλειστή παραμένει η οδός Κορίνθου στο ύψος της Κολοκοτρώνη. Επίσης συγκεντρωμένοι παραμένουν λίγο πιο κάτω στην πλατεία Εθνικής Αντιστάσεως (πρώην Όλγας) μέλη αριστερών κομμάτων και οργανώσεων.

Στην Ξάνθη, οι διαδηλωτές αποφάσισαν να κατευθυνθούν προς το υποκατάστημα της ΔΕΗ για να καταθέσουν σχετικό υπόμνημα το οποίο είχαν συντάξει. Ωστόσο όταν έφτασαν στη ΔΕΗ οι εργαζόμενοι του εκεί υποκαταστήματος προχώρησαν σε αποχή από τα καθήκοντά τους, κλείνοντας το κτήριο και συμμετέχοντας στην πορεία.

Ακολούθησε πορεία στους δρόμους της πόλης, ενώ λίγο πριν από τη μία το μεσημέρι οι εργαζόμενοι συγκεντρώθηκαν και πάλι στην κεντρική πλατεία πραγματοποιώντας ανοιχτή συνέλευση ώστε να αποφασιστούν οι επόμενες κινητοποιήσεις τους.

Χιλιάδες οι διαδηλωτές που βγήκαν και στους δρόμους της Κρήτης.
Στο Ρέθυμνο χαμηλοί είναι οι τόνοι. Παραμένει σε κατάληψη το κτίριο της Αντιπεριφέρειας, από εργαζόμενους στην περιφερειακή ενότητα Ρεθύμνου.

Στα Χανιά οι κινητοποιήσεις ξεκίνησαν με συγκέντρωση στην πλατεία της Δημοτικής Αγοράς και ακολούθησε πορεία στους δρόμους της πόλης, με κατεύθυνση την πλατεία Δικαστηρίων.

'HIGH PERFORMANCE AND LUXURY MEET HEADON'

First introduced in the late 1970's as the 3.0CS and 3.0CSi, this latest generation BMW 650i coupe strikes a perfect balance of high-performance driving dynamics and luxury, just like the first 6-Series did as the 3.0CSi. Sexy, long beautiful design lines, elegant, luxurious and high-tech interior all meet with a 4.4 liter, twin-turbocharged 400hp and 450lb.ft. of torque V8 engine generating power to the rear wheels through a new eight-speed transmission. It all comes together so smoothly as BMW is known for.

The new 650i is BMW's top-of-the-line 2+2 coupe. The body length is nearly 3 inches longer than before, while the width has also increased by 1.5 inches and it is ½ inch lower. The increased size offers more room for rear seat passengers. This high-end coupe features a shorter rear deck and a dramatic slope of the rear light, along with perfect proportions all around. The rear-end loses the hotly debated 'Bangle Butt'. The new coupe is the first BMW to received full LED treatment driving lights, indication lights, brake lights and rear taillights. The front end features a 'shark-like' nose featuring a slightly forward leaning kidney grille and a full-width air duct within the lower part of the bumper. At the rear the L-shaped taillights continue to remain a BMW signature icon and the full LED treatment brings out the luxury and sportiness of the new 6-Series. Bulging wheel arches, horizontal lines and a shape that broadens downward all combine to accentuate the car's wide track. The wide trapezoidal dual exhaust tips at each side are another sign of the car's high-performance characteristics.

The body-to-glass look with its pillarless doors is another trademark of the new 6-Series and fits seamlessly with the rest of the new design. The greenhouse is now surrounded by a thicker full-perimeter chrome strip further accentuating the luxury found inside.

The interior design is characterized by the typical BMW driver orientation and dynamic forward movement. The central area of the dashboard, including the control display, the air outlets and the control panels for the audio system and automatic A/C, is inclined slightly towards the driver. The gear selector is located on a surface that opens up towards the driver and is positioned lower than the front-seat passenger area, perfect!

Also, the fluid connection between the center console and dashboard is emphasized by a contrasting seam on the leather surfaces that gives the interior a more elegant and refined look.

The horizontal dashboard orientation is emphasized by an electroplated trim in the driver's area. Its course is contoured on the passenger side in the form of a subtle character line on the glove box. The dynamic forward movement is stressed by the door panel surfaces, which have a powerful taut look that is continued on to the front and into the dashboard. The decorative surface, which continues with a slight twist into the center console, gives front seat passenger area an exclusive touch. Furthermore, thanks to their single-seat design and increased shoulder and elbowroom compared to the previous model, the rear seats guarantee passengers a high degree of traveling comfort. Also, despite the lower vehicle height, there is great head room on all the seats.

The instrument cluster featuring black panel technology combines state-of-the-art display technology with the classic round instruments typical of a sports car. A high-resolution 9.2 inch info display installed below the four round instruments shows mileage, fuel consumption and Efficient Dynamics information as well as operator feedback from the driver assistance systems and check-control messages.

Along with the controller and direct selection buttons located on the center console, the standard iDrive control system comprises a newly conceived onboard monitor with an exclusive flat-screen design. The freestanding control display is prominently and ideally positioned with the dashboard area. It has a 10.2 inch width, the largest onboard monitor in the segment-featuring a high-quality electroplated chrome surround. The fabulous comfortable and supportive Nappa leather heated/cooled front bucket seats are infinitely adjustable and are one of the finest in its class.

In the new 650i coupe, spontaneously unfolding performance, superior pulling power, excellent running qualities and the exemplary efficiency of a V8 engine are fascinating attributes. The 4.4 liter, all-aluminum engine has two turbochargers positioned in the V-space between the cylinder banks. Apart from compact dimensions, the innovative design principle permits a specific design for the inlet and outlet ducts. The reduced pipe length and an increased cross-section minimize the loss of pressure at the intake and exhaust sides. The eight-cylinder engine develops a maximum output of 407hp at 5,500-6,400rpm and a peak torque of 450lb.ft. between 1,750-4,500rpm.

The sporting performance attributes of the V8 engine enable the new 650i to accelerate to 60mph from a standstill in just 4.9 seconds. The extraordinary efficiency for this output class is primarily attributable to the gas direct injection. The jet-guided injection with injectors positioned centrally between the valves, and in the direct vicinity of the spark plugs, guarantees that the fuel is closed with particular precision. The fuel efficient engine has an EPA rating of 16mpg/city and 24mpg/highway, excellent for a high-performing luxury coupe.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a new eight-speed Sport automatic transmission. It enhances the sporting driving dynamics thanks to exceptionally fast gear changing; it offers outstanding shift comfort and also optimizes efficiency. You can use shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel or simply put the shifter into the +/- gate to the left to shift gears manually.

The characteristic driving experience in the new 650i is defined by sporty handling capabilities. At the same time, modern suspension technology provides optimized ride comfort. The double wishbone front axle and integral rear axle are primarily made up of aluminum components. Dynamic Damper Control and the Adaptive Drive System are offered as options, which also includeDynamic Driveactive roll stabilization. The electronically controlled dampers adapt to both the nature of the road surface and you driving style. Roll stabilization reduces the effects of vehicle body roll when driving through bends at high speed and during sudden swerving maneuvers. My test 650i came with all three high-tech handling features and really enabled me to take the 650i out to its handling limits without any problems.

In customary BMW tradition for precision, comfort and efficiency, the new 650i coupe combines a unique electromechanical steering system with Servotronic function for speed-sensitive steering power assistance. Beyond this, the new 650i coupe is the first car in its class to be offered with an option for Integral Active Steering. It combines Active Steering for the front wheels with steerable rear axle. I had this option in my test 650i and you could actually feel the car track sharply through the curves with ease.

Driving Experience Control is standard on the 650i. It enables you to vary sportiness and comfort to suit the situation. You can choose from the 'Comfort', 'Sport' and 'Sport+' modes. In addition, you can also use the ECO Pro mode. In this case Driving Experience Control influences the characteristic curve of the damper and the roll stabilization in addition to adjusting the accelerator pedal progression, engine responses, power-assisted steering characteristics, Dynamic Stability Control, response thresholds and the shift dynamics of the automatic transmission. In each case you activate a pre-configured and consistent overall setup.

The lightweight floating-caliper brakes with inner-vented discs are easy to use with precision. Up front are 14.9 inch discs clamped with a single-piston aluminum floating caliper in a large frame structure while 13.8 inch discs clamped with a single piston aluminum floating calipers are fitted to the rear. The effect of this powerful braking system is supported by the Dynamic Stability Control function. The dynamic stability system comprises the ABS, Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Brake Control, brake assist, brake fade compensation, the Brake Drying function and the Start-Off Assistant. The electrical parking brake is standard and it also includes an Auto Hold function, which increases convenience in Stop & Go traffic. If the vehicle comes to a stop, it is automatically held-even on slopes-by means of constant brake pressure until you press the throttle again. The Auto Hold function is activated and deactivated with a separate button on the center console.

My 650i test model rode on giant 20X8.5 inch front and 20X9 inch rear light alloy wheels wrapped 245/35R20 front and 275/30R20 rear low-profile high-performance tires for excellent grip and a very smooth ride.

Standard features include cruise-control, cargo net, front console with storage, front dual cupholders, front door pockets, remote trunk release, front seatback storage, 12-volt front power outlets, front/rear parking sensors, power tilt-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, self-dimming rearview mirror, power-remote/heated sideview mirrors, one-touch express windows, power door locks, dual lighted vanity mirrors, dual map lamps, trunk light, dual-zone climate control with active charcoal filtration, and front floor mats.

Standard safety features include airbags for driver and front passenger, side airbags for driver and front passenger, head airbags for front and rear seats, three-point inertia-reel seatbelts for all seats with belt latch tensioner and belt force limiter integrated into the front seats, crash-activated head restraints at the front, crash sensors, run-flat tires and a tire pressure monitoring system.

2012 FIAT 500C Convertible Lounge Review & Test Drive

To introduce the US market to FIAT, Chrysler leaves the traditional Italian brand’s design somewhat untouched while adding many features and safety improvements over the European version. The all-new Fiat 500 is a two-door subcompact available in a hatchback or convertible variants.

As cute as it is, the new Fiat 500 is a fully functional vehicle that has a long European lineage with a few reworkings to better suit its needs here in the states. For the US-spec Fiat 500, it gets a bigger fuel tank (one additional gallon) for a total of 10.5 gallons, additional safety features and improved fuel efficiency. Being the small vehicle that the Fiat 500 is, you can manage to get up to 336 miles in one tank on the automatic convertible version going by its EPA estimated 32 mpg highway figure. Gas mileage is rather consistent and I was able to get better than the 27 mpg city and 32 mpg highway estimates on my Fiat 500C test vehicle. The manual transmission version of the 500 improves fuel economy standards to an excellent 30 mpg city and 38 mpg highway.

Powering the all-new 2012 Fiat 500 is a new 1.4-liter engine with MultiAir technology. The MultiAir system is a great technological advancement which essentially decouples the intake valves and camshaft. MultiAir basically achieves what other valvetronic systems do to vary valve positioning (timing) dependent on load and engine speeds to optimize efficiency and power output. All of this technology yields 101 horsepower and 98 ft. lbs. of torque through a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission driving the front wheels.

With the new 2012 Fiat 500C weighing in at 2486 pounds, you are not going to win any races but you can still be cute, turn some heads and have a 'little' fun (no pun intended).

Styling has been kept undeniably classic on the Fiat 500 closely mimicking the original Italian design from the 60's and 70's. My Fiat 500C convertible was equipped with a power-sliding cloth top. The top can be operated up to 60 mph and folds the rear window down to reduce wind resistance. Rear visibility is cut short with the top down on the 500C convertible due to the bulk of the cloth top folded to the rear.

The exterior styling is quite unmistakable but shares a few modern-day aesthetics such as the projector beam halogen headlights and stylish 15-inch wheels with color accents.

The engine of the all-new Fiat 500 is built in Michigan while the rest of the vehicle is assembled in Mexico. Despite an odd marriage of parts and assembly locations, the build quality of the new 2012 Fiat 500 was surprisingly good from my standpoint. There were no rattles or odd noises with the exception of the 4-cylinder engine's buzz at high rpm. Interior plastics do not appear to be cheap-looking making the fit and finish well worth the price of admission.

Comfort in the new 2012 Fiat 500C is interesting to say the least. Being that I am over 6-feet tall I really did not have a problem fitting into the drivers or passengers seat. I found the front seats to be very comfy and positioned well for tall and short people. As far as the back, it would be an embarrassment to even think about utilizing the back seats for anything other than luggage. Although, I do give the rear seats praise for having enough room to seat small children who have just graduated from their booster seat.

The interior of the all-new Fiat 500C has a convoluted thought to design. The dash board plastic face-panel is painted with a high-gloss finish. My red Fiat 500C had the interior dash panel to match while the rest of the dash accents were an iPod-ish-looking off-white color. The bright amber backlighting on the white-face dash and leather-wrapped steering wheel standout well, especially at night. The driver's gauge cluster combines both the tachometer and speedometer in the same large circular pod. All-together it works well to save on space which is obviously not the Fiat's forte.

Most of the controls are clear-cut with the exception of the dash cluster functions. They do take a while to navigate and find the specific function that you desire for something as simple as reading the current mpg figure or toggling to the trip computer.

The Bose stereo system sounds surprisingly well considering the small form factor of the Fiat's cabin. Engineers took the time to develop the sound system specifically for the small space. You can even find a Bose subwoofer located under the front passenger seat making the best use of a small space.

I spent the better part of 15 minutes attempting to figure out where the power door lock switch was. My fully loaded Fiat 500C has all of the power amenities so I was convinced I was overlooking the lock button. Interestingly enough, the door locks are activated by pushing the classic 'hooked' door handle and simply unlocked by pulling the handle. Small touches like this put the Fiat 500 in a category all by its self if the small size does not already do it.

Trunk space is short for the most part on the Fiat 500C Convertible. The Fiat 500 hatchback immensely improves upon rear storage space with a full rear hatch door that opens wide versus the convertible's smaller rear half-door.

Smaller vehicles like the Mini and Fiat 500 sometimes give consumers the notion that it is unsafe due to its size alone. Contrary to the belief, the new Fiat 500 is focused on safety. The all-new Fiat 500 has a total of 7 standard airbags including multi-state front-passenger advanced air bags, driver's knee air bag, seat-mounted side pelvic-thorax air bags and full-length side-curtain air bags. Active head restraints are activated during rear impact to prevent whiplash. The Fiat 500 recently earned IIHS Top Safety Pick status in the mini-car category.

The 6-speed automatic transmission meshes well with the small 1.4-liter with only 101 horsepower. Together you have just enough power to keep up with cars in the fast lane on the highway. The engine is always eager and spin up near redline while the 6-speed auto keeps you in the power band. Where the Fiat 500C lacks in performance, it makes it up for being one of the smallest cars on the road fitting into virtually any parking spot that you can find. With a wheel base of only 90.6 inches and total vehicle length at 139.6 inches, you could almost put the Fiat 500 in the back of a large pick-up truck or park it across a two-car garage driveway.

When it comes to performance, enthusiasts would rarely think of a Fiat unless they are anticipating the new Abarth version of the Fiat 500. Historically, just like the Mini received extra "performance" treatment from John Cooper, the Fiat Abarth will make its way to the US shedding weight and gaining some much needed power. A new Fiat 500 Abarth is slated to go on sale this Fall. For now the Sport button will have to do in my new 2012 Fiat 500C which changes shift patterns and remaps throttle positioning for optimal performance.

Like many small cute cars on the current market, the Fiat 500 is gives buyers plenty of personalization and unique characteristics at a relatively low price point. A comparable Mini Cooper could put you a couple grand over the Fiat 500's price easily. You could opt for a much larger vehicle for the Fiat 500's fully-loaded price at 25 grand, but they won't be as cute as the classically designed Fiat 500C and may not turn as many heads.

Small But Safe: 2012 Fiat 500 Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick

Americans, it seems, are genetically conditioned to equate size with safety. Thanks to advances in automotive design and materials, the physical size of a car or truck is no longer a good indication of how safe the vehicle is. Take the 2012 Fiat 500, for example: the IIHS has just awarded Fiat 500 models built after August of 2011 a "Top Safety Pick" award, and the 500 is small enough to fall into the "minicar" category.

Earning the Top Safety Pick award requires a car to score "Good" (the agency's highest rating) in frontal offset, side impact and roof strength testing. Cars also must be equipped with electronic stability control, which can help even inexperienced drivers avoid catastrophic rollover accidents.

As Autoblog points out, the Fiat 500 joins the Ford Fiesta as the only minicars to earn the Top Safety Pick rating. Since Chevrolet has big plans for the Spark in the U.S. market, expect that car to do well in crash testing when it hits the market next year.

Flying Lizard Launches Performance Product Line at Rennsport Reunion IV

Flying Lizard Motorsports unveiled today a new line of performance products at Rennsport Reunion IV at Laguna Seca. The performance products allow customers to quickly and easily set up a wide variety of cars at home, shop, and at the racetrack. The products are ideal for all levels of auto enthusiasts: from those looking to improve the performance of street cars, to club racers and professional racing teams.

Flying Lizard Chief Engineer Craig Watkins will demonstrate the products during Rennsport weekend Oct 14-16 at the Flying Lizard exhibit. The exhibit also features a retrospective on the team’s history from 2003 to 2011 and a full retail store. It is located at the Flying Lizard transporter in the main paddock near the pit lane entrance. All weekend, the team will host a series of pit stop demonstrations and presentations on race setup and race strategy. The full weekend schedule is below.

The performance products are SmartStrings, SmartCamber, and SmartSetup.

SmartStrings is a setup tool which allows customers to precisely align all four wheels and ensure that the front and rear axles are parallel. SmartStrings may be used in all types of real-world conditions from a home garage, to the shop and at the track.

The SmartCamber Gauge accurately measures camber, regardless of the surface angle on which the vehicle sits. SmartCamber utilizes precise digital technology and can be used with a wide variety of wheel and tire combinations. In most cases, camber can be adjusted without removing hub caps or lug nuts or lifting the car off the ground.

SmartSetup Fixtures attach to the wheel hub and are used in place of wheels. The aluminum wheels stay attached to the hub while all the adjustments are made (camber, toe, ride height, corner weights, etc.). The bearings at the bottom of the fixtures eliminate the problem of “stiction” (tire carcass distortion) caused by suspension setting changes.

Την Αγία Ζώνη θα υποδεχθεί με τιμές αρχηγού κράτους αύριο τις απογευματινές ώρες στην Αγία Πετρούπολη, ο πρωθυπουργός της Ρωσίας κ. Βλαντιμίρ Πούτιν
Να αναφερθεί ότι στην Ιερά Μονή Βατοπαιδίου βρίσκονται ήδη ο εκπρόσωπος του Αγιώτατου Πατριάρχη Μόσχας και πάσων των Ρωσιών κ.κ. Κύριλλου, Θεοφιλέστατος Επίσκοπος Γκάτσινας κ. Αμβρόσιος και πρύτανης της Θεολογικής Ακαδημίας και Σεμιναρίου Αγίας Πετρουπόλεως.
Επίσης ο εκπρόσωπος της Κυβέρνησης, Υπουργός Βλαντιμίρ Γιακούνιν και πρόεδρος του φιλανθρωπικού Ιδρύματος «Απόστολος Ανδρέας» μαζί με 25μελή αντιπροσωπεία η οποία αποδίδοντας τιμές στην Αγία Ζώνη θα την συνοδεύσει καθόλη τη διάρκεια του ταξιδιού, από τη Μονή Βατοπαιδίου στη Ρωσία.
Η αποστολή έφθασε σήμερα το πρωί στην Ιερά Μονή Βατοπαιδίου, τους οποίους υποδέχθηκε θερμά ο Καθηγούμενος γέροντας Εφραίμ και η Αδελφότητα.
Εν συνεχεία η αποστολή οδηγήθηκε όπως συνηθίζεται στο καθολικό της Ιεράς Μονής, όπου εκεί τέθηκε για προσκύνηση η Αγία Ζώνη.
Με μεγάλη συγκίνηση και πόθο τα μέλη της αποστολής ασπάστηκαν και έδωσαν τιμές στην Μητέρα του Θεού, ενώ η χορωδία της Μονής έψαλε το Απολυτίκιο της Αγίας Ζώνης.
Μετά το καλωσόρισμα και την προσκύνηση της Αγίας Ζώνης ο άγιος Καθηγούμενος προσφώνησε τα μέλη της αποστολής, υπενθυμίζοντας τις ιστορικές πνευματικές σχέσεις που είχε το Άγιον Όρος με τη Ρωσία, όπου τόνισε ότι η επίσκεψη της Αγίας Ζώνης θα είναι ευλογία για όλο το ρωσικό λαό.
Από την πλευρά της αποστολής αντιφώνησε ο Θεοφιλέστατος Επίσκοπος κ. Αμβρόσιος, ο οποίος τόνισε ότι ο ρωσικός λαός πάντοτε έστρεφε το βλέμμα του προς την πνευματικότητα του Αγίου Όρους και υπενθύμισε στον άγιο Καθηγούμενο τις ιδιαίτερες σχέσεις που συνδέουν την Ιερά Μονή Βατοπαιδίου με τη Ρωσία στο πρόσωπο του αγίου Μαξίμου του Γραικού, ο οποίος υπήρξε βατοπαιδινός μοναχός και έζησε το περισσότερο χρόνο της ζωής του στη Ρωσία προσφέροντας πνευματική παρηγοριά και στήριξη στον λαό της.
Ο Υπουργός Βλαντιμίρ Γιακούνιν είπε ότι, «είναι πολύ σημαντική ημέρα σήμερα για εμάς, είμαστε μία μικρή ομάδα του πιστού ρωσικού λαού, από την πρώτη στιγμή που μπήκαμε στην Μονή σας μαζί με τη θεία Χάρη μας έχει περικυκλώσει η αγάπη σας, αισθανόμαστε έντονα το σεβασμό που οφείλουμε στην ιστορική σας Μονή και στο Άγιον Όρος και λυπούμαστε που σήμερα υπάρχει το πνεύμα της Ευρώπης και δεν μπορούν να αντιληφθούν την ιερότητα και το σεβασμό που εμπνέει αυτός ο χώρος, νιώθουμε έντονα την ευθύνη που έχουμε για την μεταφορά αυτού του ιερού κειμηλίου στη ρωσική γη».
Να σημειωθεί ότι η Ρωσική αποστολή ευχαρίστησε τον γέροντα Εφραίμ και την Αδελφότητα για τη θερμή υποδοχή.
Εκατομμύρια του πιστού ρωσικού λαού αναμένουν με πόθο και βαθιά ευλάβεια να προσκυνήσουν το μοναδικό θεομητορικό κειμήλιο στον κόσμο, την Αγία Ζώνη.
Πληροφορίες της Romfea.gr, αναφέρουν ότι τρία εκατομμύρια απεικονίσματα της Αγίας Ζώνης και τρία εκατομμύρια ευλογημένες κορδέλες που έχουν ευλογηθεί στην Αγία Ζώνη και έχουν ετοιμαστεί ήδη για να δοθούν σαν ευλογία σε όσους προσκυνήσουν το χαριτωμένο αυτό κειμήλιο.
Είναι γνωστό ότι οι πιστοί εκδηλώνουν την ευσέβειά τους προς τα ιερά κειμήλια προσφέροντας ακόμα και χρηματικά ποσά.
Η Ιερά Μονή Βατοπαιδίου από την κοινοβιοποίησή της μέχρι σήμερα κατά τις εξόδους της Αγίας Ζώνης προσέφερε τα χρήματα αυτά στις τοπικές κοινωνίες διαμέσου των μητροπόλεων για φιλανθρωπικούς σκοπούς.
Μετά από επικοινωνία μας με την Ιερά Μονή ενημερωθήκαμε ότι έχει ληφθεί ήδη απόφαση από τη Μονή τα χρήματα της αποστολής στη Ρωσία να δοθούν στο φιλανθρωπικό Ίδρυμα της Μονής «Άγιος Γρηγόριος ο Παλαμάς», ώστε η Ιερά Μονή με το Ίδρυμα αυτό διαμέσου των μητροπόλεων και της Εκκλησίας της Ελλάδας να προσφέρει άμεσα την αρωγή της σε άπορες και πεινασμένες οικογένειες που ιδιαίτερα στην εποχή μας πληθαίνουν.

Kia Moves Production of Venga from the Czech Republic to Slovakia

South Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors said on Thursday that it has begun assembly of the Venga small MPV at its factory in the city of Zilina in Slovakia, which also builds the Cee'd family of C-segment models and the Sportage SUV.

Up until now, Kia produced the B-segment MPV at sister company's Hyundai Motor other European plant in the Czech Republic.

Η οικογένεια του Νίκου Γιγουρτάκη προσπαθεί να μάθει πώς έφυγε από τη ζωή ο δικός τους άνθρωπος.
Ο πατέρας του υποστήριξε ότι ενδεχομένως τον σκότωσε η υπερκατανάλωση αντισταμικών όμως νέα στοιχεία έρχονται συνεχώς στο φως για τον θάνατο του 30χρονου επιχειρηματία!
Ο Νίκος περίπου δύο εβδομάδες πριν τον αιφνίδιο θάνατο του, είχε γράψει στο facebook:
«Προς όλους τους χρήστες. Το γυμναστήριο… είναι μια απάτη. Την πάτησα και εγώ όπως πολλά θύματα. Ουσιαστικά είναι ένας χώρος όπου ο κ. (…) το παρουσιάζει σαν γυμναστήριο, αλλά είναι παγίδα. Σε αναγκάζουν να περάσεις από μια σειρά βασανιστηρίων και μετά μαζί με μια αφέντρα σε τεμαχίζουν. Εγώ κατάφερα να αποδράσω».
Και σε ένα σχόλιο φίλος του Νίκου του γράφει:
«Γλύτωσες , αλλά με γραμμωμένους κοιλιακούς Νίκο».

Σύμφωνα με το Star, οι γονείς του Νίκου Γιγουρτάκη προσπαθούν να βρουν τρόπο επικοινωνίας με τους υπεύθυνους του γυμναστηρίου, προκειμένου να λυθούν τα ερωτήματά τους… πώς «έφυγε» το παιδί τους!

-Σωκράτη Κόκκαλη και Βαρδή Βαρδινογιάννη, τι σόι μεγαλοεπιχειρηματίες είστε εσείς αν δεν μπορείτε να γκρεμίσετε την κυβέρνηση των δοσιλόγων,
δίνοντας εντολή στους πράσινους βουλευτές –φιλιππινέζες σας να καταψηφίσουν το άθλιο πολυνομοσχέδιο μιας κυβέρνησης δίχως κανένα έρεισμα στη διεθνή πολιτική σκηνή.

Η ψήφιση του πολυνομοσχεδίου δεν μπορεί ν’ αποτελέσει χαρτί διαπραγμάτευσης για έναν ανύπαρκτο πολιτικά πρωθυπουργό, ο οποίος είναι ταμπουρωμένος στην Αθήνα και αναζητεί τρόπους να εξασφαλίσει τον μεταπρωθυπουργικό του βίο, δίχως τον εφιάλτη των ποινικών διώξεων εξαιτίας της μεθοδευμένης προσφυγής της χώρας στο ΔΝΤ.

Καμιά διαπραγματευτική ικανότητα δεν διαθέτει η κυβέρνηση Παπανδρέου. Κανείς διεθνής παράγοντας δεν την υπολογίζει.

Η παρουσία του Παπανδρέου η του Βενιζέλου δεν μπορεί να σου εξασφαλίσει Σωκράτη Κόκκαλη, τον ΟΠΑΠ και σένα Βαρδή Βαρδινογιάννη ήρεμη πλεύση στις επιχειρήσεις σου.

Ο ΓΑΠ είναι ένας αφερέγγυος συνομιλητής σας και πάνω απ’ όλα ανύπαρκτος ηγέτης, άρα επικίνδυνος για τη χώρα.

Δώστε λοιπόν εντολή στις φιλιππινέζες-βουλευτές που ελέγχετε ώστε να καταψηφίσουν το πολυνομοσχέδιο και να οδηγηθεί η χώρα σε εκλογές ώστε οι πολίτες ν΄αποφασίσουν την μέθοδο θανάτωσής τους.

Εμπρός λοιπόν Βαρδή και Σωκράτη, γκρεμίστε την κυβέρνηση της εθνικής προδοσίας, γιατί για να μπορείτε να κάνετε μπίζνες στην Ελλάδα, θα πρέπει να υπάρχει χώρα και μ αυτούς που μας κυβερνάνε η Ελλάδα βρίσκεται στα πρόθυρα της νέας εθνικής τραγωδίας.

Στο κάτω κάτω ρε μπαγάσηδες, τι μεγαλονταβατζήδες, είστε;

Δύο παραβιάσεις του Ελληνικού εναέριου χώρου από Τουρκικά αεροσκάφη

Την ώρα που η Ελλάδα πνιγόταν από τις απεργιακές κινητοποιήσεις, σήμερα σημειώθηκαν για δεύτερη φορά παραβιάσεις του εναέριου χώρου από Τουρκικά αεροσκάφη

Συγκεκριμένα μπήκαν στο Αιγαίο παράνομα, έξι Τουρκικά μαχητικά αεροσκάφη εκ των οποίων τα τέσσερα ήταν οπλισμένα. Τα αεροσκάφη έκαναν πέντε φορές παραβιάσεις του Εθνικού εναέριου χώρου. Όλα τα Τουρκικά μαχητικά αεροσκάφη αναχαιτίστηκαν και αναγνωρίστηκαν σύμφωνα με τους διεθνείς κανόνες, κατά πάγια πρακτική, ανακοίνωσε το ΓΕΕΘΑ. Σε μια περίπτωση ένα ζεύγος μαχητικών αντέδρασε στην αναχαίτιση των Ελληνικών και προκάλεσε αερομαχία.

Από πέρυσι τον Σεπτέμβρθιο οι Τούρκοι είχαν σταματήσει εντελώς τις εμπλοκές αεροσκαφών και γενικά τις είχαν μειώσει όλο το 2010, αλλά όπως σημειώνουν οι αναλυτές η Άγκυρα έχει επαναφέρει πια σε καθημερινή βάση τις εικονικές αερομαχίες που δεν έχουν πάντα τον κίνδυνο ατυχήματος.

Κρήτη - Οικογενειακή τραγωδία στο Ρέθυμνο

Μία οικογενειακή τραγωδία εκτυλίχθηκε χθες το μεσημέρι στα Ακούμια του δήμου Αγίου Βασιλείου
Μία 43χρονη γυναίκα έχασε τη ζωή της, όταν περιλούστηκε με εύφλεκτο υγρό και αυτοπυρπολήθηκε.
Η γυναίκα, που σύμφωνα με τo goodnet.gr, αντιμετώπιζε διάφορα προβλήματα, ήταν μόνη στο σπίτι της, αφού η μητέρα της μαζί με άλλα συγγενικά της πρόσωπα ήταν εκτός, σε γεωργικές εργασίες.
Όταν πήγαν χθες το μεσημέρι στο σπίτι τους, δυστυχώς ήταν αργά, αφού η άτυχη γυναίκα είχε χάσει τη ζωή της, παρά και την επέμβαση των πυροσβεστών, που ειδοποιήθηκαν από γείτονες.
