Candy Bars

I do love me candy bar. I only eat 1 or 2 a month but, oh yes, I could eat more than that! Its too bad they are loaded with calories. My favorite candy bars are Butterfinger, Snickers and Twix. I absolutely love the king size Snickers. Wanna know why? Its because there are 2 small bars in the package! I can eat one and stash the other one away for another day. The bars are smaller than a regular sized bar, too. I still get a candy bar without eating a big one or buying a whole bag of fun sized ones. Yep, its a good thing!

Only One

For years we have had only 1 tv in our house. The average American household has 3 televisions. I cannot even imagine having 3. Our evening family time is either spent at ball games or watching tv together. I think if we had more than 1 tv we would be split up so that everyone watches what they want. Right now we look through the tv reviews and decided on something everyone (or most of us) are happy watching. I think that fosters cooperation and family unity. Maybe everyone doesn’t get what they want every time but that is how life is. I guess what it boils down to is this, having 1 tv provided good practice for surviving in real life.

Prom

There has been lots of document scanning going on here in the last couple of days. Prom is coming up and we have been filling out papers for the after prom party. We only had 1 copy and we needed 2. Jasmine made a copy and we thought we were good. Then Clint’s date was confused on what to fill out and filled out Clint’s portion with her information. So another copy was made! Its all good. The kids are all excited to be going to their first prom. I am excited to but there sure is a lot of work put into one little ole night!

New Flooring

I am so ready for new flooring in my kitchen! I would love to be able to put down one of the good, durable laminate floors. My kitchen gets punished daily and whatever flooring we get is going to have to be able to take some serious punishment. I know it will be a while before we can put new flooring down. When the time comes I don’t want to waste time figuring out what I want. I want to already know so it can get put in quickly.

Visit

My bff was supposed to come for a visit this summer. We have been saving for this trip for several years and have really been looking forward to it! It wasn’t going to be a fancy trip. We didn’t book a rental form Table Rock real estate or anything. She was simply going to drive with 2 of her children to my house and spend a week with us. However, due to the wildly rising gas prices, we aren’t sure that is going to happen. We doubt we have saved enough to rent a car and pay for gas. We are very disappointed but we will continue to save. At some point, we will have enough for a visit!

Binoculars

I have always enjoyed nature. I can remember as a kid using my dad’s binoculars to look at birds and animals in the distance. We didn’t have anything as upscale as a nikon spotting scope. What we had was good enough for a kid to look at things that were too far away to see. I have binoculars of my own now. My kids use them to see birds and animals that are far away. They have just as much fun as I did when I was their age spying on things.

New Paint, Old Bedding

Soon my bedroom will have a fresh coat of paint. Actually it will be the first coat of paint these walls have ever seen. The plaster has been covered with wallpaper since the house was built. I am looking forward to having paint on the walls! I just hope that once that is done I will still love my bedding as much as I do now. I don’t have the money to be spending on fancy matouk right now. In fact, with our new budget I don’t have money to spend even on cheap bedding. So I better just love what I have!

Financial Peace University

We have been attending Financial Peace University classes for the past 5 weeks. I have learned so much about our finances! We are slowly wading through our debts and creating a budget and a plan to get out of debt. When we are finally debt free it will be better than a 5th wheel warranty. I think that both of us will finally feel secure in life. If you can find a way to take the classes, I really recommend you do so.

Hot and Cold

This winter our bedroom has been so warm! Even on the coldest nights I have found myself to be overly warm. We don’t have an electric blanket on our bed. That isn’t the problem. In fact, we only have a comforter and a sheet on it. I am starting to wonder if my internal thermostat is starting to swing from cold to warm. You know what that means, right? There have been other reasons that I think I might be peri-menopausal. I am riding the wave at this point. Sometimes I’m on top of that wave and other times I am underneath it! I do know that eventually it will even out and I will be able to just enjoy the ride.

Air

All winter long a humidifier has been running on our furnace. This is an effort to keep down the static and my skin from drying out. Soon spring will be here and we will have to start the dehumidifier in the basement to keep it from getting to damp. Its crazy that we care so much about the amount of moisture that is in the air. But we do. At least this year we have window air conditioners to help keep the humidity down in the house!
