This is a result of erosion, with the collapse in the 1970s of part of this cliff located at the western end of this small Caribbean island.

► █░▓ ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ NEXT to a FISH, this eel was washed ashore the Boven Merwede beach face. What was the adventure? Something's fishy here. A piscine shipwreck? A battle of eel and fish over the river supremacy? A tsunami caused by a mighty huge container ship passing by? The eel obviously has broken backbone.
We will never know, but they both lost their lives in the course of drama...

Found on my noon walk along the river at nature resort Sleeuwijkerwaard, North Brabant.

Lumix G90 / Lumix 12-35 mm f2.8. —At 27mm (54mm full frame equivalent) and f4 aperture priority. Shutter speed of 1/1300 sec. This is a sooc jpeg edited in Apple Photos 10.0, exported as 16-bit tiff.
