After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. May spent 20 months working at a 24-hour emergency dog and cat hospital in the Los Angeles area. She then became certified in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine and started a housecall practice for dogs and cats in Los Angeles.&#13;
As a practicing veterinarian, Dr. May educates people about preventive medicine as well as holistic options that exist for treating their companion animals’ ailments. Since 2006 Dr. May has served on the Board of Directors for RedRover, an animal protection organization that brings animals out of crisis and into care. She has also volunteered her time extensively lecturing to a variety of groups across the country on a wide range of topics including humane education in veterinary school, humane alternatives to declawing, the benefits of vegetarianism, and how to keep companion animals healthy.&#13;
Dr. May speaks Spanish and has provided volunteer veterinary services including surgeries, vaccines, and deworming to remote areas in Guatemala and Nicaragua without access to regular veterinary care. To learn more about Dr. May, please visit her website www.veganvet.net.&#13;
In her show, Dr. Armaiti May will address a wide range of issues affecting animals in our world, ranging from pet overpopulation and puppy mills to factory farming, as well as issues specific to the treatment of animal companions in veterinary medicine and how to keep one's dog or cat healthy. Periodically, guests will be invited onto the show to share their knowledge. News and current events pertinent to animal protection efforts will also be highlighted.</itunes:summary><itunes:subtitle>Animal Issues With Dr Armaiti May</itunes:subtitle><itunes:category text="Science &amp; Medicine"><itunes:category text="Medicine"/></itunes:category><itunes:author>Dr Armaiti May</itunes:author><item>

With that being said, we aren&#8217;t here to be the &#8220;wash your pet&#8217;s dish&#8221; police but we do want to keep them happy and healthy! Would you eat off of the same dish for multiple days at a time? Your pet doesn&#8217;t want to either!</p>
<p>After your pet has eaten dinner, a quick wash with soap and hot water takes under a minute and will have your pet feeling fresh during their next meal. If you have multiple dishes that your pets eat out of, rotate them in and out of the dishwasher so they can be as clean and fresh as possible! Dishwashers usually run in the range of 130-170 degrees which is hot enough to kill the nasty grime living on your pet’s dishes. They have never specifically told us, but we have a feeling they&#8217;ll appreciate the extra work and cleaning you&#8217;ve done for them.</p>
<p>While we&#8217;re on the topic of pet dishes, we have one more tip for you! Stay away from plastic bowls as they are more susceptible to harboring bacteria that can make your pet sick. All in all, roughly two to three minutes a day to wash your pet&#8217;s dishes will make a big difference in the long run.</p>
<p>If you have any questions at all, our veterinary team is here to help! You can <a href="https://drmaysvetclinic.com/contact/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">contact us</a> via email or phone and a friendly member of our staff will get back to you as soon as possible!</p></div>
