Hi! I'm an American girl (well, I'm in my twenties). I live in New York City. I love genre fiction like fantasy and sci-fi, including anime, and so do my friends. We exist! We're cute and we like the same stuff you do. As for skinship, have you tried making friends with theater people, artists, musicians? They're usually a touchy-feely bunch. And, if there aren't enough of those where you live, why not live in NYC? You can find ANYTHING here. Hell, you could probably find us, if you came to a comic convention or a screening of some new animated movie in Williamsburg. Look around at the hipsters; you won't find any macho men. They are all cute shaggy hairstyles, Converse sneakers, cool glasses, and skinny paleness. And they get chicks. I myself have flirted with several adorable Asian boys with "weird accents" as you put it, though I stop when they seem to get really uncomfortable and turn colors (mostly red). My point is, you haven't been looking hard enough. Go find yourself some cute nerdy/artsy girls, talk to them, make friends. Ganbatte kudasai!
~love, Sylph
P.S. I really appreciate your insight into otaku, moe, and definitely kansetsu-kisu, which I certainly never understood. Ever. I could not figure out why anybody would buy schoolgirl panties from a vending machine, or even why handmade obento and choco are such a big deal. Now I know, and I'm going to make sure to kiss and hug my friends *extra* when I see them next.

Perhaps. Mirror, or projection like Inception? I may be a dori-kei in future. Or kuuki-kei? Anyway, great review. I haven't had a tear-bursting anime for a long time.

I wish I could agree with you but the antics of Nadie simply turned ridiculous after a while. Also, as far as I can remember, the series never showed her "normal beginning" as an ordinary person, correct me if I'm wrong. However, I will say that my expectation of the show, growing out from my expectation of the "girls with guns" series really put a damper on any positives that I found in the show. Perhaps Nadie's character is meant to provide a different type of comic relief to the audience.

I agree with what you said about Ortega and his winebago, but I think its necessary to have imperfect characters like Nadie, it gives the anime more realistic characters. Instead of the "perfect" idea of a person like what you see in other anime it is more like a real person which I find important for good anime. A good example would be Evangelion, one of if not the best anime in history and none of the characters were perfect with anything, but thats what made the characters good, they were more like ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

2444! I just watched Eve No Jikan. Really good! I watched all episodes at once, especially, the 6th episode, I burst into tears. Very touching!

I-fairy and AIBO have been made in Japan. I think ultimately they will invent a love robot (love slave robot?). Right now, we only have Tokimemo, Kimikiss, Amagami, Loveplus, only in video games.

I guess in America, rice cooker is just a rice cooker. Only efficiency is pursued. But, in Japan, the designs of home appliance are very cute, housewives/dads will have attachment to it and treat it like a pet. They may even name it. Mononoke used to be scary, but now mononoke is cute and lovable.

Yes, Japan lacks skinship compared to the Western cultures, so it's very disconnected nature. When Nagi hugged that obsolete robot, I wished I was that robot. She gives Tin Man a heart. She breathed into its mouth the breath of life. I want CPR, kiss from her, the ultimate skinship!

Thanks for the review!
