No.6- Giving 'Shounen Anime' a New Meaning

So, peoples, I was away on vacation. That's right, pimpin' up NYC!

....No, really, I didn't do that. All I did was eat in New York City. Hands up if you did similar.

Anyway, new anime recommendation, and yaoi fangirls, you're gonna nosebleed after watching this one.

Summary: The story takes place in an ideal city known as "No. 6". Sion, a boy raised in the elite and privileged environment of his home, gives shelter to another boy, who only gives his name as 'Nezumi' (Meaning mouse or Rat) on the former's 12th birthday. After spending a rainy night with his new friend, Sion discovers the next morning that Nezumi has left and disappeared without a trace. Four years later, Sion experiences a spate of incidents around him in which a deadly infection by parasitic bees leaves its victims to age rapidly. Sion's co-worker is one of the victims and Sion is arrested on suspicion of murder. Whilst Sion is being transported to the Correctional Institute, Nezumi appears and rescues him. Sion begins to find out the hidden truth behind the Ideal City No.6.

Main Characters:

Sion-

The main protagonist of the story, he is a kind-hearted and gentle boy. At the age of 2, he was recognized for his high I.Q. and given and elite and him and his family were given an upscale home and elite treatment. However, at the age of 12, he was stripped of his privileges due to him helping Nezumi escape. Since then, his mother has opened a bakery in Lost Town and Sion has been working as a park supervisor. However, the sudden death of a co-worker has led to him arrested by the city, suspecting murder. But Nezumi comes back and helps him escape to the West District. A little later on, Sion developed signs of being infected by the parasitic bee and had Nezumi remove it from him. He managed to survive but his appearance since then has changed from brown hair, hazel eyes to white hair, red eyes and a red snake-like scar that wraps around his body.

Nezumi-

Nezumi is a rude, temperamental and brutally honest person. When he was young, he was chased by No.6's Safety Bureau but managed to escape with the help of Sion dressing his wounds and housing him for the night. Since then, his whereabouts were unknown to Sion until when he was 16 and came to rescue to Sion when he was arrested for murder. He brought Sion to his underground adobe in the West District. Later, he saves Sion form the parasitic bee infecting him. He claims he saves Sion as a repayment for saving him 4 years ago. Currently housing Sion.

My Review:

For me, I found this anime really enjoyable. I was always found of male bonding (lol). Anyway, I'm sure most guys that watch this will probably wondering if they're on the right channel. This is supposedly rated T and is a "Shounen Anime". I highly doubt that. I'm sure the fanbase for this anime is definitely ruled by females but guys, ignoring the never-ending amount of bromance, the plot and futuristic setting is really well planned out. I mean, 2 people die in the first episode. The main character almost dies in the second episode! Men always get a kick out of watching characters die horribly. No.6 is really interesting city as well. It really makes you think if our future will look like that.

I am planning on posting NezumixSion pictures by the way, justing giving a warning.

So, I've written a post before on Fanfiction.net but I'd never, EVER have thought that it would make it into America's TIME magazine.

OMG....

In TIME magazine's July 18, 2011 issue, there was a WHOLE article on fanfiction. Mainly, Harry Potter fanficiton (cough, which I have written like one on with a whole ton of slash in it, cough). Look at the article cover picture:

OMG....

I laughed my ass off in the living room after reading this and knew I had to make a post about this. LOL

Though it wasn't a whole article on Fanficiton.net like what I had been expecting, it was mentioned in big bold letters:

Tiger and Bunny: The NEW SUPERHEROES of 2011

If you haven't heard of it yet, you should be ashamed! On Pixiv, us fangirls are spewing all the yaoi we can make! For real, I have over 70 bookmarks that are just BunnyxTiger manga.

Anyway, putting that aside, lets give you a summary of this new and amazing anime. I really should have made a post for this earlier but I was busy watching the episodes and forgot. Sorry my friends.

Summary:

The series takes place in a fictional re-imagined version of New York City called Sternbild City, where 45 years before, individuals with superpowers called "NEXT" started appearing and some of them became superheroes. Each of city's most famous superheroes work for a sponsor company and their uniforms also contain advertising for real-life companies. Their heroic activity is broadcast on the popular television show "Hero TV", where they accumulate points by each feat accomplished and the best ranked hero of the season is crowned "King of Heroes". The story mainly focuses on veteran hero Kotetsu T. Kaburagi aka Wild Tiger who is assigned with a new partner, a young man named Barnaby Brooks Jr. However, Barnaby and Kotetsu usually have trouble working together as they have conflicting opinions on how a superhero should act.

Kaburagi T. Kotetsu-

Hero Title- Wild Tiger

One of the main protagonists and a veteran superhero past his prime whose total disregard for private property when fighting against crime earned him the nickname "Crusher of Justice". Currently he is the least popular among the heroes of Sternbild City and his company has been taken over. Now he is forced by his new employers to become Barnaby's partner against his will. His wife died from a disease five years prior to the series, and his daughter Kaede lives with his mother. Like most people of the city, Kaede is unaware of his secret identity. He possesses the power to increase his physical abilities hundredfold for five minutes, and can only do so again after cooling down for one hour. His new suit includes advertisements for the Japanese S.H. Figuarts toy line and Japanese media company SoftBank (These are real companies in Japan). Having been inspired by a hero named Legend, who helped him to accept his powers, Kotetsu has traditional ideals of justice, always relying on his instincts and putting lives over ratings.

Barnaby Brooks Jr.

Hero Title- Barnaby Brooks

The other protagonist, who is nicknamed 'Bunny' by Kotetsu. A rookie hero who does not conceal his identity and the newest addition to Hero TV. Partnered with Wild Tiger for the new season, he has the same superpower as him, though relies more on strategy as opposed to Kotetsu. His powered suit includes advertising for Amazon.co.jp as well as Bandai and its "Crusade System" Card Series (These are real companies in Japan). He was orphaned at a young age when his parents were assassinated, and spends his free time investigating about the secret organization "Ouroboros" and its connection with the death of his family. Barnaby is not his birth name as it is actually his father's name that he took on as a declaration of war to the Ouroboros.

Other Characters:

Karina Lyle/ Blue Rose

A highschooler with freezing powers who still lives with her parents and makes use of her heroic feats to boost her career as a singer. She also works as a pianist under her real name. Her scantly-clad costume, which her father disapproves of, includes advertising for Pepsi NEX, a zero calorie Pepsi available in Japan developed by Suntory (Real company).

Nathan Seymore/ Fire Emblem

A flamboyant hero with flame abilities, equipped with a highly maneuverable race car. He is also the owner of his sponsor company, "Helios Energy," and his costume contains advertising for FMV of Fujitsu (Real Company).

Keith Goodman/ Sky High

Currently the most popular hero in the city and winner of last season's "King of Heroes" title. He is able to fly with a rocket backpack and has the power to control the wind. His uniform includes advertising for Bandai's subsidiary Tamashii Nations and streaming website Ustream.tv (Real company).

Antonio Lopez/ Rock Bison

A green-armored brute, and Wild Tiger's friend. His bull-themed costume includes advertising for Japanese barbecue restaurant chain Gyu-Kaku (Real company).

Pao-lin Huang/ Dragon Kid

A young Chinese girl armed with a staff and able to produce lightning. Her Chinese-styled uniform includes advertising for Japanese food company Calbee and Japanese website DMM.com (Real company).

Ivan Karelin/ Origami Cyclone

A young hero in a ninja-themed costume who rarely takes action and engages himself more in advertising than in actual crime-fighting, appearing in the background of photos and broadcasts to please his sponsors. His shapeshifting ability allows him to copy the appearance and voice of other people, but not their abilities or powers. His costume contains advertising for Anime goods website ".ANIME" (Real company).

I'm really surprised on how many good screenshots I was able to find. Usually, I'm forced to do some illegal searching (JK, I don't, I swear).

My Review:

This anime, I think, is extremely funny. It's an anime I believe that even people who don't like anime would like. If they make an English dub of this and broadcasted it in America, it'd definitely be popular (I only hope they would find good voice actors, unlike other failures I've heard in my lifetime). The characters have fun and interesting personalities, even the minor ones. Definitely popular with Mecha fans and Sci-fi fans. Tons of cool english names too so it's much easier to relate to.

As for fangirls.......well.....it's definitely one anime you don't wanna miss writing fanfiction for. Especially Barnaby and Kotetsu. Have fun finding out whose on top and whose on bottom. Hehehehehehe.....

I support Barnaby on top. Just letting that out there.

You'll run into N quite a lot around the Unova region, and he'll often challenge you to battle when you meet. You'll have to discover who this mysterious character truly is and uncover his ultimate goal.

How's everyone doing? I'm getting along fine with the cold I have. Stupid colds.

So, I was thinking of starting a manga, and I'll post some of it here for you guys. I made a poster for it already (and a logo, hell yeah!). See the failed logo on the bottom.

Don't worry, the manga won't colored like this. I just decided to make the poster look cool by using Shirogane Usagi's neo coloring technique.

This is my main character, Lilium of Wrath, one of the seven Devils of Sin. I'm in the proccess of creating the other six. Bear with me.

The manga is called Devil Progect and I have yet to work up a summary so I'll post that up later. This all you'll get for now.

I'm introducing to you some awesome mangas I've been reading but had no time to post about. They're all good plot, good art. You'll love them.

Remember that tablet I got for Christmas? Well, I can finally draw with it!

Such a big accomplishment, I know.

They're not the best for many reasons. 1) I am inexperienced. I go this like a month and 2 weeks ago. Uh-huh. 2) I don't have a single good cg program. So I'm using an online one. Bear with me.

And now, TA-DA, my new creations. There's a lot of Vocaloid works because I <3 Voclaoid.

I am so bored! And I don't feel like doing homework (I mean, come on, it's Saturday). My friend suggested I take a blond quiz and see how blonde I was. I did. I got some interesting results.

Holy crap, it's 1/1/11! So many ones! Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!! Love you all! Everyone deserves a little love.

It's the year of the rabbit! And I drew this beautiful little artwork in honor of our new rabbit year: 2011!!!!!

My SAI trial ended so I ended up using my old illustrating program and that program sucks~ But it's not bad for a free illustrating tool.

So, cute huh? The pink hair was kinda a random addition, I was gonna make it brown but I thought that was way too boring. Colorful clothes likey ^o^!

By the way, here's a preview of a drawing I'm working on:

It's not colored yet but'll color it soon, when I find time. It's pretty right?

The Christmas Aftermath!

Hey guys!! How was your Christmas? Good? Bad? Pissed out because your brother ratted you out eating the cookies your family left out for Santa? Well, let me share some of my joy with you!

So, let's discuss presents first!

I got a tablet!!!!! To be exact, a Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet but what god cares about that! I got my first tablet! It's so pretty and smooth and shiny, and professional-looking, ah, a beauty!! It's an Intuos too! I did my research ok, it's a pretty expensive and used by a lot of famous graphic designers. I love it so much!!! <3 XD I must spamming you with exclamation points right now but I am so dang happy it's unbelievable.

And now, for the baptism of my tablet. I shall now name him (its a him, yes, a guy) BINGO! The picture above is my picture I drew with my tablet, as a present to all.

I also got a laptop bag but that wasn't as big of a news but I'll tell you guys anyway. ^_^

A sad news is that my SAI Paintool trial ended so I couldn't use my tablet with SAI (which is the best illustrating program ever, as you can see, not created in America, only Japan could make something this awesomesauce).

Next, song of the day! My new face Vocaloid song. Yes, I kinda notice that I always slap songs at you without notice but songs are a source of inspiration in my life.

I hate how Luka has so much sad songs but I love how her low voice sounds so emotional and beautiful in them. The irony.

The monkey king today is Hello Windows [absorb ver.]. Absorb may be the not as well-known band name of Halyosy, that, and is, some of the most famous Nico Nico dubbers. I personally think anyone that can use the Windows startup music and make a beautiful song out of it is genius.
