Father’s Day- My first celebration at new school

Friends, As you all know I have moved to a new home and town and with that I got a new school too.… I will update you in detail on the new school sometime later. Now it’s all about my very first event at school with my parents “Father’s Day”

Father’s day….for me it comes every day I am with my “Rajesh”. I am not really very sure as to what its all about but its exciting as both mom and dad were going to join me in school.

The teachers informed that Father’s day would be celebrated with “Salad Decoration” competition for dad and me. This was to be held at school on 21^st June, Saturday … everybody was like dad and “Salad decoration” but it was a surprise when he asked mom to sign the participation consent letter for the Father’s day celebration.

So the first part was over and now comes what me and dad was going to do over there J and till now what I know about my dad is that all this time he had only eaten Salads !!

So the process of designing started and he won’t tell anyone what he is planning. There were ideas pouring in from all side but I feel he had some indication in his mind. Finally a day before the event he gave a list of things required for the Salad. We went for a gala shopping and brought all items for the competition. Grandma helped by arranging all accessories and bought veggies for us from local sabjiwala. It was much later we realized that he was researching on net and learning about the subject from youtube and cookery sites

The best part was dad went down to check vegi from the local vendor and got some vegetables, grandma and the maid converted it into a gala lunch J so we had to go again at night to get things needed for the competition.

Finally the D-day arrived. Mom woke me up and dressed me up for school celebration. All at home were busy packing all stuff for us in a bag. Dad and I rushed to reach there in time. Yes, the competition started and it was all fun. Along with us there were other friends who had also joined with their dads. I helped dad in arranging things, colored vegies, distributed tooth pick to visitors and judges. All Moms busy clicking pictures… it look more like Mother’s day as all dads were working and moms busy playing games with school staff and teachers.

Have a look at the picture, you all will agree it’s was a great salad …. But Judge felt there is nothing to eat in it ha ha ha…. But how rude was that !! Anyways all part of game and were happy that we had a good time at the event… First ever event for dad and daughter. And we pose for pictures as if we are the winners ;)

Moving to a New state, city, town, house

After spending my initial days in Mumbai and Cochin now it was time to move to a new place…Baroda. Yes that’s where my mom is transferred and we choose to stay in the company campus and which was like a mini jungle.

I can see an apprehension on everyone’s faces … and that’s , what if I would not be adjusting with the new place, people, friends and home… finally the day came when we have to shift and we decided to drive down to the new city.

It was a beautiful day and we decided to drive from Mumbai to Baroda and reached our new home by noon. The new veed (New home) was small but beautiful with lot of greenery around and not to forget a big balcony which we all miss in Mumbai. And this is where our blessing starts when we wake up in the morning.... with the sun shining bright telling you welcome to a new morning and a new day.

It’s been all most a month that I have staying here and made lot of friends …. Not from human race ..but all from animal kingdomJ In fact there are 6-7 small puppies near the garage. I wait for my dad to come on the weekend so that I can play with them and give them milk and biscuits.

I have lot many other friends in the area like parrots, peacock, cows, big doggies, squirrels …… and lot of colorful birds!!!

In this entire process what I learn is ..getting more out of your close relationships can go a long way, but it doesn't always work. Sometimes you're at a point where you need to meet entirely new people and to adapt them all with open heart.

And not to forget with all these changes I am getting a new school soon but there is still some more time to start the next session so till then vacation time... Ting

Another important factor which i cannnot miss about this new place is this dude called Modi…. Full name “Ab Ki Baar Modi Sarkar” heard a lot from people around and also while out for my evening ice cream near the dairy circle.. though never met !!

I miss all my friends in Mumbai, but thanks “Mark Zuckerberg “ and mom who keeps me updated on all thru Facebook J and not to forget the frequent call I have with dad to keep him posted on my progress till the time I get my own Facebook page!!

The first out door sport I learned was running, not sure how I got into this but … I loved the phrase “ Ready steady and GO…

And to my luck it was running which was kept as the event for us on the sports day at school and what’s where I got my first lesson on the competition …. But in all It was fun practicing the running with my friends and getting applause from all teachers…

Later, I was so possessed that I have even started practicing at home and make all do running from one room to another… the morning starts with asking mom and dad to be in line and run towards living room and the rest of the day with my grandmother J

When I go down I do it with all my friends … Sharya, Diya, Vignesh ….. from the building we just do running running and no bitching around and wasting time. We were like dedicated to our practices session during the one / one and half hours we use to get together in the evening!!

Finally the day came when I have to participate in the school sports day and all at home were more tensed on whether I will run ..how silly is that !! But as we all came to the track from the hold area the first thing I did was to search for my mom and dad in the crowd but could only find just before reaching the finishing point.

Once I saw them the blood in me was doubled and started running in all the lanes … and this will be part of my life’s wonderful experience down the memory lanes

All's well that ends well… I got my first medal!!!

From the day I was born the only thing I keep seeing is my dads camera, and it was so often that was kind of obvious to get fascinated with the entire process of clicking :)

Earlier I only used to give possess and mostly with some attitude as I never for paid hmmmm

But with time I started to get into his shoes and start learning to click and finally decided to get some lessons on photography. It was an interesting phase and process but the only issue was lifting the camera ..its too heavy man :( As I started insisting for the camera I can see how scared people are of the competition I am going to cause.

At first people around me were reluctant to give camera to me for practices but later they understood who is the boss at home !! They even tried to fool me with some dummy camera and promised to get some child proof camera … but I put my foot down.

Sometime I think are all more worried about the camera!! Anyway I am in no mood to look back …… now on its just going to be Click Click Click

Now I get the camera whenever I want or when dad or mom is clicking :) I am just waiting for the day when I can hold it and walk around clicking… now it’s mostly done by keeping it down at one place or use the tripod .. But not sure why people were laughing when I was taking pictures.

But I am grateful to all the lovely people around as all give and agree to be my model… including the tedi bear, doggy , little tom, honey bee and all other friends …..

Soon the goal is to try and photographing everyday life from my Point of View. It’s so amazing to see things evolve around me. Let me see by when I can start doing this … till then the job is delegated to my parents…. :)

Only the Queen celebrates two birthdays

Only the Queen celebrates two birthdays each year. And that's the reason even I have two Birthdays … don’t laugh friends.....yes its true !! Last year also I had 2 cakes and the same happened this year too, one in December and another in March … hope now you all are convinced.

But for some strange reason no one gave me any gifts .. it was my dad who got, don’t know why!! Sometime people are strange and funny… I cut the bday and no Gifts !!poor me.

FYI: My second Bday comes in March.. all please come with gifts !!

Nevertheless I had a good time with the cake and hope to celebrate many more such birthday with my loved ones !!

Why do people cut cake on Birthday .?

Colors colors and colors !!! This is the first time I am experiencing Holi, the festival of colors. It all started with getting a whole range of colors from my dad ..he got me all non-toxic and eco friendly colors .. Not sure what it means but I enjoyed the color part of it.

Before stepping out for playing Holi with all… I started with applying some on self after all, the colors were for me !! but later it was told to me that the color has to be applied on others.. Strange !! So started first at home and played Holi with all before moving downstairs…

There was lots of preparation done at the society by all uncles …. Enjoyed some crisp samosa and jelaibi(A Indian sweet) before all the fun started.

Soon all the fun started with people putting colors on each others, and within no time it was all colors and colors everywhere… at start I was bit frighten but later started enjoying and participating, I particularly enjoy the festival in the company of friends

The star attraction for the Holi was the rain dance arranged in the building with DJ, though I had cold, me and dad where in it for hours .. had a gala time all wet and drenched. I even learned some dance moves from all the uncles and aunties doing hip hop on the turns of DJ. In all it was fun to watch people drenched in colors.

Hours pass by throwing colors on each other and it seems as if it's just the start of the day. Finally I was tired and got on to my dads lap and he forcefully took me home for bath and getting dry….

Holi will be always one of my favorite festival….

Vacation to visit my friends from the forest– A visit to Tadoba & Kanha

This is my first encounter with wildlife. I was always fascinated with cat, dogs, hen, cock, ducks … and sometime elephant which I use to see in Kerala temples......… This would be the first time when I would be seeing them live …So all set for our winter vacation. 21st to 29th Dec 2013

It was a vacation to spend time with nature and all courtesy to Prasad uncle from our building who had planned and executed the entire trip.

The trip was planned to cover Tadoba and Kanha National Parks. (Some gyan from my dad below, if not interested skip to my story and pics)

Tadoba Tiger Reserve

The name 'Tadoba' is derived from God "Tadoba" or "Taru", praised by the tribal people who live in the dense forests of the Tadoba.

Tadoba Tiger Reserve is the largest national park in Maharashtra. Total area of the Reserve is 625.4 square kilometres (241.5 sq mi). This includes Tadoba National Park, created in 1955 with an area of 116.55 square kilometres (45.00 sq mi) The Reserve also includes 32.51 square kilometres (12.55 sq mi) Protected Forest and 14.93 square kilometres (5.76 sq mi) 'Other areas'. Densely forested hills form the northern and western boundary of the Tiger Reserve

Kanhanational park

It’s again a national park and a Tiger Reserve in the Mandla and Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh, India. It stretches over an area of 940 km² in the two districts Mandla andBalaghat. Together with a surrounding buffer zone of 1,067 km² and the neighboring 110 km² Phen Sanctuary it forms the Kanha Tiger Reserve. This makes it the largest National Park in Central India.

The park has a significant population of Royal Bengal Tiger, leopards, the sloth bear, Barasingha and Indian wild dog. The lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows and ravines of Kanha provided inspiration to Rudyard Kipling for his famous novel "Jungle Book "

Now vacation updates ……..

The excitement started from the time I came to know that it’s a rail trip. You all might remember how I enjoyed my first train journey. This time I had good company to have fun with…. Divya & Sonakashi (“Sonaki”) Didi

We had a night train from Mumbai to Nagpur and had a nice time eating, playing, drawing…..and by morning we were at our first stoppage - Nagpur-the city of Oranges… We all had a scroll near the station and then moved to Tadoba by road. It was a good 2 hr drive and we were at the resort “Tigers heaven”, which is located just at the mouth of the jungle buffer zone. Me and Sonaki didi had good fun in their long stretched gardens, while Divya didi spent time making some good sketches and drawings.

Later in the day it was all jungle safaris, and which was totally new experience for me. We went in an open jeep with all the parts making noise :) And to our luck in all our trips we had good tiger sightings.

All in the group were complementing each other for the luck of good sighting, but I know it’s me as I am the only one new to safari ;) All tigers know me as my cat friends from Mumbai had informed about my visit :)

Even after bringing so much luck.. all still scolded me, for talking with tigers the same way they did at Flamingo point at Mehul. During one of the safari, the tiger came very close to our fleet of jeeps and all were quiet and busy clicking pics and no one talking to tiger. So I thought of having a small talk, introduced myself and invited tiger to come with us in jeep….. so when it came near I asked her “ Tiger come here.. come here tiger …come to Anisha ..tiger sit here”

But looks like these human beings didn’t like it and all were like shuuuuuuuuu. The only support was Prasad uncle and my dad.

In all, it was a good 3 days of stay at the resort and during the period all the staff from the resort had taken good care of me and others in the group. Only I use to get chocolate every time we were at the restaurant. Next time I will plan to come alone so that I can spend some more time with tigers and other friends without any disturbance …

From Tadoba we were back to Nagpur, and I thought now back to Mumbai but after a day halt at Nagpur we headed to Kanha … I was all happy as the trip was on and will get a new hotel room … hooray. As you all know ... I am very fond of hotel rooms!!

At Kanha we stayed at Kanha Kiskindha , this resort again was just near the buffer zone. This resort was again a beautifully designed place and one part touching forest. The rooms are also designed resembling tiger theme …. Excellent food for all and variety of hot milks for me :)

In all there was a hitch.... because of the heavy rush and we didn’t had any safari booking in advance!! But we all had faith in Indian joogad system and not to forget Prasad uncle's talent... we were able to get in to the jungle !!



We use to leave hotel to report early morning at 5.00am and I used to get a comfortable seat on my mom’s lap all covered in woolen cloths. I will miss all these once back in Mumbai hmm

And again to my luck all were able to again see tigers…This time not one but 3 Tigers(Mother and 2 Cubs) The whole family sat for a majestic pose in front of our jeeps. In the cold and misty winter morning it was a real treat to meet this family. later we also spotted a Leopard and which was like a double bonus. Apart from this, there were lots of colorful birds, dears, monkeys, black bucks …. which we spotted during the trip

Rest of the time we were at the resort and spent time at the nearby places, had picnic at a near by water fall, camp fire and some local shopping.

Finally the sinking feeling started to appear as we were back to Nagpur from where we scheduled to take our final train back to Mumbai. But I am all excited to be back with my Kangaroos at the school!! 

Little Chef Anisha’s Restaurant!!

I have my own kitchen now … A big relief :) phewwww. When it come to cooking there are really no boundaries --You just have to like food ..and i do :)

I know it will sound very girly and scene from old Hindi movie having 2 kitchen at home.. But in this world where all have their own choices and on the top of it no one allow me to cook what I want.

But thanks to modern technology and dad, I now have my own Kitchen and that too in Pink colour and with all gadgets. “stove, microwave, Chimney, sink, and utensils….”

Now the day starts with my share of bournvita milk and then I make “sood sood “(Hot hot) tea for all. Everyone at home likes my tea a lot. The feedback I get is “ Anisha’s tea is nice… aur Chaheye(want more)

Tea was just a start, with the time I have also started making dal rice, sabagi (Vegetable), biscuits, pizza. I serve them with sauce and pepper which i have with my set.

With the popularity and demand I have to cook in lots. Whatever I cook is appreciated by all so I keep checking if they want more “Aur Chaheye”… With the growing demand from all, I am sure it’s very tasty and yummy as no one refuses.. and the favorite word i keep hearing is “Aur Chaheye”.

Now as I am getting into the expert mode, I am planning to set up a restaurant with my Very Own Ultramodern Kitchen Set. I have even thought a name “ Little Chef Anisha’s Restaurant “ :)

I turned 2 years and that’s precisely 24 months, 104 weeks,730 days, 17520 hrs, 1051200 mins …. I have been here with all you wonderful people. To celebrate this mega event dad and mom had planned a marathon celebration. To start with first at my school (Kangarookids Powai ) share the cake cutting with my partner Diya who is also born on the same day but just that I am 2 hours elder to her…. and believe me that’s a proud feeling :) It was a nice and different experience to celebrate with all my friends and teachers.

Post that my dad arranged to share the celebration with some needy people staying at an old age home “Prem Daan” near Airoli. Prem Daan, started in 1992, has over the years become a 'home' for all of these abandoned women.

Sister Meera, who is the head of the home was kind enough to explain all the details to my dad when he visited , she also informed that , All these women were picked up from the streets of Navi Mumbai. Often, the police have brought in women who were in need of urgent medical attention and care. They have some help to care and look after their daily needs. But with 150 of them, they continuously look for help from society who have forgotten them.

I was not taken to the home this time but parents are planning to help them regularly and will be visiting the place soon. And from next time dad said we will make sure that my birthday celebration will be defiantly shared with some needy people.

And now it was the time to have some fun with all my building friends , there was a party arranged for all my friends at 7 in the evening. I had a gala time getting all the attention and collecting gifts. But more than anything I enjoyed the time spend with all. Not very sure about my parents as most of the time they were running around and post the party cleaning the mess :)

In all I had a rocking time with Diva, Sarghun, Shraya as we all share the same wave length :) rest all were elder to me and taken good care of me all the time.

Cake Cutting

If you are thinking this is the end ….. A big NO. Morning of 6^th Dec we started for a weekend road trip to Shirdi-Nasik as both mom and dad had taken a leave to spend time with me. It was all a fun drive with mild winter around and the entire family “me , mom, dad and my achamma (my grandmom) in a car. The entire route was amazing with green fields and big fans all around … it was fun as I have never seen such huge fans.

We stop by at various places for milk and sugar cane juice and others had their usual drink – Tea. Finally we reached Shirdi and checked into a nice Hotel room and went for Darshana of Sai baba in the evening. With the VIP pass it was a quick Darshan compare to the line we saw outside. The next day morning after breakfast we checked out but I kept on checking with dad and mom if we can continue in the nice hotle room “ Hotel room nice hai …ghar nahi jana hai” but all gave a deaf hear to my request.

We started for Trimbakeshwar via nasik which was again 120 KM from Shirdi .. its considered to be a very holy place but the way it was maintained I was not allowed to step down and all the time on my dad and which is the best way I consider for sightseeing :)

The next day we visited RamKund and Sita gufa(cave) near panchavati… after seeing these places my dad explained that sita was defiantly a gym goer that’s the reason she was able to live in such tiny cave with narrow path and doors … and later advised me also to join gym phewwww …. With the look on my face he understood that it’s not the right time to take on this topic and we moved on to Sula Vineyards to have some good Wine for dad and we all had some good cheese and snacks.

The wine yard was a nice place to sit, relax and spend time with food and loved ones. But as all good things comes to a end we too packed up for Mumbai. But I was not willing to give up that fast .. dad /mom had a tough time to get me back in car ..they settled me with some good hot milk and finally back in our sweet home at Powai

Will miss mom and dad as they will be back to work … but happy that I will be back with my kangaroos and friends ……

A month with Kangaroo Kids

A ha… friends, here comes a new twist to my daily routine…Play School !!! Well it all started few days back with discussions at home as to where I should be sent and also visiting various schools in the nearby

vicinity.

Till now I was already having a busy schedule with getting up early in the morning, having my bed milk, play with my toy friends, make tea and food for all in my kitchen (It’s the latest addition to my gifts, will share the story about it sometime soon) take bath , afternoon nap and then finally meet all friends in the building for updates… now the whole point and confusion was to fit the school in this busy

schedule. phewww

After the entire search operation my mom and dad zeroed down on Kangaroo Kids - Powai which is very near to our place. And we selected the second slot from 11am as my parents know how busy Im during the morning hours :)

On a weekend I was taken to the new school to show me the place and meet all teachers ….I was all thrilled as there was a huge set of toys, cycle, sand dunes and my cartoon friends drawn all around. At first go itself i was like lets start the fun ASAP.

And the D day arrived -My first day at the playschool will always be a moment for pause, the entire family was there with me to the school and all attended the trial session with me :) more than me the rest of my family members were skeptical about how I will manage this change. In-fact for first few days my grandmom used to wait downstairs for me to complete the school so that I need not wait or get worried for not seeing anyone after the class gets over.

Soon the trial session ended and I was all set to join the school and which was a real fun and suddenly I felt that I am no longer a toddler and it was a huge spectrum of change even for all around me. From the day I have joined, a new set of world has emerged in front of me… Daily learning new rhymes and narrating the same back at home (not sure how much they get it as many time I saw them searching on youtube ) With teachers, it was fun to make / learn creative activities like drawing, colouring, finger painting, crafts and the best part was gifting them to parents back at home.

Now that I have completed 1 month at school, there are lot of good memories … learning new things, my first teachers (Shruti ,Deepa, Vanita ) and made my first few friends (Samara, Raghav, Purav …. Other

name I am still to remember). It was a wonderful time sharing bday parties, Traditional dress day, Diwali celebration, Party for Grandparents and attending the vacation camp :)

IM A BIG GIRL NOW !! And these days the song I know just know how to whisper ….. Papa kehte hain bada naam karega :)

Oh Crap!! Potty Training

Day by day all my luxuries and privileges are taken away and getting restricted by all these worldly disciplines and so called way of living.. And in this series, the new addition was doing potty at the right place. Yes you all guessed it right …my dad got me a potty training gear!!

Of all the things in the world, is this a gift he should get for me !!

Never thought it’s such a looked for event by parents. Nevertheless when I saw it for the first time, I was excited as you all know how much I love gifts. To start with it was all rosy ..but later when I was forced to sit on it repeatedly and people started making funny noise and actions, I started getting irritated.

Nowadays early morning after my milk session, someone will pick me and bring me straight to the potty chair… it took me sometime to understand and also realized that one more privilege has been taken

away. Earlier I had all the luxury of lying in bed and do whatever I want till late morning and there were people around to take care..zing

But I was proud and happy with the fact that it was my very own potty chair and need not share as others do at home. It been personalized by writing my name on it and decorate it with stickers.

As said by some great person “knowledge shared is gained”, now after 2 month of getting introduced to the potty training chair- I am a PRO and currently in the process of teaching other friends… Eshnu

Teaching What I Learned To My Friend !

Helping your toddler during this period need a lot of tact, time, tolerance, and creativity. For the first time, parents may become aware of their child's learning style and their teaching style. Also it’s important to wait for the clue as to when they are ready and try not to push your little one before he/she is interested.

The Morning Bell Has Rung :)

Few people in fact told my dad that start it between 2 to 3 years.. but looks like he was in a hurry , as that’s the time when they have enough muscle control to hold urine in their bladders for a few hours. But nevertheless, I do take pride in successfully learning the process.

I truly believe, Everything in life there is a season. Just wait patiently for the right time before you start pushing…. When it happens, it means it's time, enjoy what I'm doing, and it always brings a genuine feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment. Hope you all Agree :)

Happy Onam everyone!

Onam is one festival which is celebrated by Malayalees without any religious constrain in Kerala and across the world. Last year I was with by my dad, mom and Achamma (Dads mom) in Mumbai and had good Onam Sadya and this year in cochin with grandparents, uncle, aunt and cousin Ananya. Will miss dad as he could not join us because of his job commitments but I had made sure me and mom will keep him posed on all the developments.

It was an awesome trip this time to cochin, from the time I landed here the gifts were pouring like cats and dogs :) It was more than what I have expected. In fact I was practicing with my dad in Mumbai as to how I would be demanding gifts from all and make sure I get it :) … but to my surprise it looked like all were competing as to who would be giving me more ….. I love them all.

My grandma was preparing for Onam from last 10 days …. Collecting gifts and stuffs to make various dishes to treat us for Onam Sayda. Thiruvonam day morning is always special, I went to temple with all and get ready for a gala Onam sumptuous feast ..which includes best chips, kheer, palada ……. and ends with payasam.

For my non Malayalee friends sharing the story my dad told about Onam -here is a summary.

Kerala in ancient times was ruled by a demon “Mahabali” he was suppose to be a bad person but this dude was an exception. In his kingdom Kerala was prosperous and peaceful and the regime was so good that even Gods, felt threatened by his popularity so they devised a cunning plan to overthrow him.

They send Mr Vishnu(another Hindu god) dressed up as a sage(Vamana-A Brahmin boy). Mahabali being a very generous person he agreed to a request of 3 feet of land for the ‘sage’ to meditate. Soon after the request was granted the sage turned to a mega-monster and covered sea with one and land in 2nd step and had nowhere to take the third step.

As Mahabali never go back on his word, he asked the sage to take the next step on his head and in no time he was pushed to underground, forever. But before that Gods showed some mercy on him and granted permission to return to his homeland once every year to check on his people. And that day is Onam when the whole state is decked up to welcome their beloved king.

The other thing I liked about onam is the tradition of preparing beautiful Athapookkalam (rangoli with flowers) in olden days it was made in lawn outside everyone’s house but now with flat concept cemented bobby’s are decorated. I enjoyed all process and the final outcome.

At the end all the efforts was paid off with a good lunch together with the whole family and loads of gifts. Next year also i will be here to celebrate Onam and will give list of gifts in advance :)
