I recently read a book that fits right in with my own ideas about health and nutrition. The book is titled Nutrition: A Word of Wisdom and the author is Dr. Scott Johnson from Utah, USA.

Highly Recommended
I highly recommend reading this book, and then putting it where it can be easily referenced on a regular basis. It is well written in a comfortable style that informs, and also inspires readers to take better care when choosing what to eat each day. It follows guidance given by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in what is known as the Word of Wisdom.

There is nothing pushy about the book. It tells it as it is and then leaves individuals to decide which direction is best for them. Dr. Johnson says, ". . . the Word of Wisdom is a revelation from God, the observance of which will prevent unnecessary suffering and death, and enhance the health of all who endeavor to live it to its fullest."

My Review of Stored Treasures, a memoir by Minnie Crane with Smadar Belkind Gerson.

Stored Treasures ~ A Memoir

Stored Treasures by Minnie Crane and her great-granddaughter Smadar Belkind Gerson is a fascinating book, full of interesting photographs and captivating stories from Minnie's difficult childhood. After reading the complete memoir, I feel like I've met the family and struggled with them through their tumultuous history spanning two world wars, pandemics, and the Great Depression.

Born Menuche Kranowitz in Belitsa, Russia in 1896, Minnie changed her name to Minnie Crane when entering the USA through Ellis Island in 1914. Her birth town eventually became part of Belarus, a Jewish community destroyed by the Nazis.

Inspiring and educational

Avid genealogist, Smadar Belkind Gerson, shares Minnie's remarkable writings in a way that is both inspiring and educational. This book truly is a treasure worth reading by anyone interested in the Jewish immigration to America in the early 1900s.

I recommend it as a well-written and accurate record of events that define world history.

I haven't yet read The Dynamite Story of Alzheimer's Recovery by Allen K. Golden BA Ed, but it comes highly recommended by a friend so I've copied below the notes from Amazon's page for the Kindle version (click here) and the paperback versioni (click here). It seems to me important that as much information as possible needs to circulate if it can help those who suffer from this disease.

If you love a big, chunky book that fills your reading hours with interest, pleasure, history, and real life drama, then In God Is Our Trust is the book for you.

In God Is Our Trust is the fifth and final volume in the Free Men and Dreamers series by award-winning author, Laurie (L. C.) Lewis. I have read all five books and am overawed by Laurie's ability to take me on an epic journey with families I've come to love and admire.

Volume Five captured my attention the minute I saw the cover. The scene looked so much like the beautiful Sacred Grove that I couldn't wait to find out if the story did in fact contain anything about the beginnings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I wasn't disappointed. Without any sense of sermonizing, the problems faced by those who believed Joseph Smith's story are treated with compassion and understanding. It is only a small part of the story, but to me lends great authenticity to an already historically accurate work.

I highly recommend In God Is Our Trust and each volume in this series. These books deserve our attention. Not only do they let readers discover and appreciate events that molded the United States of America, but they also make us aware of pitfalls we face in our own day.

Danyelle Leafty, author of the Fairy Godmother Dilemma series, has become really sick, and it would be great to help her out. Here is a message from her husband about what happened:

Danyelle had been working very hard to get her series up before Christmas.Then "IT" hit. Some kind of pain was there all day and by 10:45pm, she started experiencing unbearable pain that went until 12:15am when I got home. I got our four kids out of bed and loaded up, then helped Danyelle into the car and drove her to the ER.

As soon as we pulled into the hospital parking lot around 1:00am, our
six-year-old autistic son flipped out. He hates doctors. He didn't want to
be there, and I didn't want to leave my wife. I contacted someone from our church who volunteered to sit with our kids at home so I could stay with Danyelle.

Turned out to be a kidney stone. We got Danyelle home around 4:00am.
Luckily, during the last two days a great lady has filled in for me at work, so I could wait on Danyelle hand and foot, and tomorrow my mom is coming.

Having Danyelle get sick right when she was working on releasing her books has been very stressful. We'd appreciate any assistance anyone has to offer to help us get the word out before Christmas.

Vocal Point now moves on to the final weeks of competition as one of The Sing Off’s top six
groups. In celebration, the Vocal Point Alumni Association invites all fans and friends out to a
watch party for next week’s episode.

What: The Sing Off Watch Party with BYU Vocal Point---featuring drawings,
giveaways, and a chance to meet the members of Vocal Point and get the
behind-the-scenes scoop on The Sing Off.

Cost: FREE (donations to the Vocal Point Alumni Association scholarship fund
are appreciated)

This year’s Sing Off competition premiered with sixteen a cappella groups from across the
United States. The current field of six has survived seven weeks of competition. The winners
will receive a Sony Music recording contract and $200,000 in cash. Vocal Point is a part of the School of Music at Brigham Young University and one of 18 performing groups sponsored by the university. It is the most-requested performing group at BYU and regularly performs to sold-out crowds on and off campus. This past year, Vocal Point celebrated its 20-year anniversary with a reunion of nearly 100 former members of the group.
