Differential XBRL taxonomy viewers now available for the 2009 IFRS and US-GAAP financial reporting taxonomies

MetaSphere Inc., based in Los Altos, California, announces availability of a new class of differential taxonomy viewers for the 2009 IFRS and US GAAP taxonomies. Each viewer presents the 2009 taxonomy augmented by an acccount of differences detected relative to the 2008 taxonomy.
Whenever possible differences are rendered pictographically by way of Delta Diagrams and Delta Schematics. In this manner complicated remappings of calculation roll-ups, presentation hierarchies and hypercube dimensional structures can be understood at-a-glance. New Delta Indexes are provided to facilitate exploration of concepts or reports according to the nature of their modifications. All viewers can be activated by way of a companion web application that restricts the presentation to information bearing on a set of reports selected by the user.

XBRL taxonomy viewer now available for the latest IFRS taxonomy (2008)

MetaSphere Inc., based in Los Altos, California, announces availability of a viewer for the 2008 version of the International Accounting Standards Board's International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) taxonomy. According to Investopedia, "These are a set of international accounting standards stating how particular types of transactions and other events should be reported in financial statements. The goal with IFRS is to make international comparisons as easy as possible. This is difficult because, to a large extent, each country has its own set of rules. For example, U.S. GAAP are different from Canadian GAAP. Synchronizing accounting standards across the globe is an ongoing process in the international accounting community".
These new additions bring to 55 the total number of published guides, covering the leading global XBRL financial and sustainability reporting taxonomies. Each guide is delivered "from the cloud" as a rich internet application that is at once evocative, informative, and easy to use. No software installation is required.

Taxonomy guides now support printing of individual concept pages, and a Report Index

Taxonomy guides now support printing of individual concept pages. Printed concept pages capture content visible on the screen, including color coded diagrams of calculations, tables, presentation hierarchies and tuples. Pages and diagrams are numbered for ease of reference. A user can select the desired level of detail with fine granularity. Also, a new indexing method -- the Report Index -- provides rapid access to the concepts spanned by a given report (e.g. Balance Sheet).
Presently the new features are available for IFRS 2008 and US-GAAP taxonomies. A full roll-out will follow over the next few weeks.

XBRL taxonomy guides, references and visualizations now available for leading world financial taxonomies

MetaSphere Inc., based in Los Altos, California, announces general availability of its taxonomyGuides.com web site.
This site is intended to serve the global investment and financial community. It offers high level guides, references and visualizations for leading global XBRL financial and sustainability reporting taxonomies.
The list of available guides (28 in all) includes: GAAP taxonomies for the US, China, Canada and Ireland; IFRS/IAS taxonomies for General Purpose Financial Reporting (IFRS-GP 2006), Singapore, together with FINREP/COREP used for banking supervision; finally, GRI's taxonomy for Sustainability Reporting. A number of additional taxonomy guides are currently in preparation. We are open to suggestion as to which additional taxonomies to include in future.
Each guide is delivered "from the cloud" as a rich internet application that is at once evocative, informative, and easy to use. No software installation is required. The design of the guides differs markedly from prior efforts, resulting in greatly improved usability and "taxonomy transparency". At all times the user retains situational awareness by way of "active" diagramatic representations and large-scale "financial schematics" that embed links. This decentralized navigation model scales well even when applied to the largest modern taxonomies.
