Russian scientists discovered a frozen woolly mammoth in an icy tomb off the coast of Siberia. Approximately 10,000 years old, the creature was so well-preserved that some of its blood and muscle tissue was intact.

Interesting factoids you didn’t know about Sirius, ‘The Dog Star’

Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, also known as “The Dog Star,” is in the ancient constellation of Canis Major, literally meaning “large dog.” Below are a few interesting facts that you may or may not have known about The Dog Star.

Sirius gets its name from the ancient Greek work Seirios, literally meaning “scorcher.” It also goes by other names as well, such as Alpha Canis Majoris, Canicula, and Aschere.

What you see as a single star is actually a binary star system comprised of a white main sequence star, Sirius A and its white dwarf companion, Sirius B.
The phrase “dog days of summer” comes from an ancient belief that the Dog Star was somehow responsible for the hot weather because, next to the Sun, it was the largest star in the heavens. The term “Dog Days” was first used by ancient Greeks.
Ancient Egyptians based their calendars on heliacal rising of Sirius, which is when it first becomes visible above the eastern horizon just before sunrise after a period of not being visible.
Sirius B is so dim that it cannot be perceived by the naked eye, and was not observed until January 31, 1862 by Alvan Graham Clark. Clark was later honored with the Lalande prize by the French Academy for this discovery.
Sirius A is approximately 2.02 to 2.14 times the mass of our Sun and about 1.68 to 1.71 its diameter.
Sirius B, also known as “the Pup” is 8200 times dimmer than its companion, Sirius A, but is actually the hotter of the two.

Latest UFO Sightings for 14 June 2010

These are latest UFO sightings reported to MUFON.com. If you have a UFO sighting, please fill out a report form at MUFON.

At midnight on June 10th, a witness in Arkansas noticed “a yellowish light beam - such as a car turning around would project shined on the house.” When the witness got up to investigate he/she “saw a blue-white light glowing from overhead...and flashing....like heat lightning” but wondered why the lighting was staying so long in one place. When looking out the window the witness observed white orbs blinking off and on and slowly moving at the height of the second-story level, directly in front of the window.

At approximately 10:30pm on June 12th, a witness in Georgia was star-gazing. The sky was mostly clear, with scattered clouds, but very good visibility. At approximately 10:45pm, the witness observed “a very white bright sphere” appear in the southern sky and silently travel north in a straight line at tremendous speed. The time it took to travel across the entire sky was approximately 3 seconds. The witness also reported that “there was no change of color, no trail, no deviation in its path.”

At approximately 7:30pm on June 5th, a witness was driving north on Florissant road through downtown Ferguson, Missouri when he/she noticed “an object hovering fairly high in the sky off to my North East approx 1/4 mile or so away.” The witness pulled off the road into a parking lot, stopped the car and tried to take a picture with an iPhone, but the camera malfunctioned. The object then disappeared northwest, only to reappear after only a brief moment. This time the object was closer, (approximately 1/8 mile away), and the witness was able to make out the shape. The witness described the object as “dark gray in color, no lights or sounds at all. It appeared to be a stretched star with 2 points prevalent on each end looking like an introverted “V” and 1 small extroverted “V” on each long side (6 points total ).” The witness tried again to get a photo, but by the time they got their iPhone ready, the object had once again disappeared.

Approximately three minutes after the object had disappeared, the witness described the following:

“I pulled out of the parking lot and was driving North again down Florissant road and went right pass the bank and then continued on until I finally came to the corner of Florissant road and Hereford Rd (about a 1/4 mile pass the bank). It then hit me that I was actually driving my car. I didn’t know I was driving or why I even in my car at all. I didn’t know where I was supposed to be. After about 30-45 seconds I remembered that I was going to the ATM to get some money for my daughter. I turned around and continued to the bank. Everything was a complete blank in my mind for a short time. I was very scared and thought that there was no way that I was the only one that could have seen this. I was totally shaken.”

At 11:05am on the morning of June 10th in Lansing, Michigan, a witness walking towards Kalamazoo and Grand Avenue saw something bright in the sky and looked up, expecting to see a plane.

“The sun was glinting off of it very strongly when I first saw it - only the "nose" wasn't shining. It moved deliberately across the sky. It was lower than all other planes and did not have contrails. It made no sound. When I got to Kalamazoo I realized it didn't have wings or a fin. The metal and shape reminded me of old 50's trailers that were all steel/aluminum/whatever. I thought, "UFO?", but didn't REALLY believe it. I looked both ways, crossed to the turn lane, looked back up, and I couldn't find it. I searched in the same area of the sky and found it - but it was BARELY there! It was a clear blue sky - clouds would not show up for 2 hours - and even though this was VERY low, it was disappearing. I could see the outline the clearest, the inside was now the same color as the sky. I looked at traffic and then crossed (less than 15 feet) and when I got to the sidewalk, I couldn't find it. It should have been directly ahead of me in the sky (looking northward) I looked in that clear sky for 5 minutes and could find it.

No one else saw it. Downtown Lansing is full of people at this time of day (State Workers) and it was a warm day, so there were many people walking. I looked around and realized that no one was looking up and that MOST people DON'T. Watch people next time you are out - they are either looking at the ground or at eye-level. Anything could be flying overhead and, if it doesn't make noise, no one's going to see it

Fascinating Documentary on the Hubble Space Telescope

YouTube has really changed a lot in the last year or so. I find myself hanging out there more and more these days watching myriad videos on a variety of topics.

A few days ago, I ran across this amazing documentary on the Hubble Space Telescope that was put together by the ESA for public distribution. Astronomy is one of my many passions and I love watching things like this. I hope you will too. A View of Earth From Mars

This is the first image ever taken of Earth from the surface of a planet beyond the Moon. It was taken by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit one hour before sunrise on the 63rd Martian day, or sol, of its mission. (March 8, 2004)

The image is a mosaic of images taken by the rover's navigation camera showing a broad view of the sky, and an image taken by the rover's panoramic camera of Earth. The contrast in the panoramic camera image was increased two times to make Earth easier to see. The inset shows a combination of four panoramic camera images zoomed in on Earth. The arrow points to Earth. Earth was too faint to be detected in images taken with the panoramic camera's color filters.

Alien Contact - A Fascinating Documentary About SETI - Must See!

I stumbled upon this video today and I'm about half-way through it as of this writing and it is just riveting. It is called "Alien Contact" and it's about the organization called SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence). The mission of the SETI Institute is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe.

This video should be of interest to anyone who has a fascination with extraterrestrials and other worlds. If you have about 45 minutes of free time, I highly recommend watching this documentary. Enjoy.

10 May 2010 - California, US - I was sitting outside and looking towards the sky when suddenly I saw a meteor falling. Problem is that it was bright blue. I stood up because it was so bright I thought there may be an impact. As I got up I saw the light climbing back into the sky. Straight up. I then thought it was someone shooting fireworks until it started moving abnormally and then started moving off to the North. At this time I ran into the house and got my wife, who also observed the object as it was moving off in a north, northwest direction. There were no other color or flashing lights or sounds, and it was very blue in color. The most remarkable thing was the rate of decent and ascent. It was moving as quickly as a meteor at first until it dropped out of sight behind the houses across the street. As it rose back into the sky it was moving erratically, then moved off almost straight and level. I estimate this object to have appeared approximately two miles from my position.

I'm still not sure I believe my own eyes, save for the fact my wife observed the object as well. It will be interesting to see if anyone else saw anything out there tonight. I know there were several airplanes in the vicinity and should have been able to see the object.

10 May 2010 - New Jersey, US - A close friend and I were outside smoking cigarettes when a bright object in the sky caught our attention. This was at approximately 20:50 EST. The object appeared to be just a very bright star at first-- which was what caught our attention. It was later determined to be moving, however, after a closer study.

A few points to supplement this assertion are:
1) object was eclipsed momentarily by tree limbs at several points and but would always return to open sky, as perceived from our position in front of my house.

2) it flickered as it moved back and forth along the horizon and in circular or arc-shaped, sweeping motions to and fro.

3) the object's light would dim after it reached the peak of its arc-maneuver and hence begin to move in the opposite direction, and would brighten considerably when facing us. the path of the light's beam could be seen when facing from side to side.

4) once in awhile, the light would juke every which way and at odd combinations of sharp angles, in short bursts of incredible speed.

It at first seemed to be hovering over one point but we found the object to be maneuvering away from our position, as it eventually disappeared over the horizon. We were both compelled by strange, anxious feelings for the duration of the sighting.

We repeatedly had to back up to keep the object in our view and actually had to move to my second-story balcony for the last ten minutes of the event, as if hypnotized to stare at this weird light until it could no longer be viewed. This was at approximately 21:19.

I attempted to signal the object with a MAG-light-- in numeric combinations of numbers counting down from three-- but to no avail. At one point, I attempted to use the 75-watt bulbs in the balcony lights as well. But still, the object retreated.

I judged the object to be three miles away at first and was gone forty minutes later, still moving in the direction of the Delaware Water Gap. This thing was very bright and very noticeable; I would find it hard to believe that nobody else saw it besides the two of us.

10 May 2010 - Los Angeles, California, US - That was truly a life changing event, I'm speechless! 6 spheres, or 1 craft just flew right over for everyone in Los Angeles to see. You just had to be looking up to the south to see the most amazing thing! I've always been a skeptic until tonight. I'm still spooked as i'm writing this. It passed thru my line of sight for at least 5 seconds, no sound, no ******* sound. There was a plane heading southwest, thats what originally caught my eye. and then heading from my left to right, 6 lights appeared in a triangle formation, I said holy ****, as it gracefully crossed my line of sight, I noticed the spheres were opaque, beige tinted kinda like the color of the moon through clouds! (There is not a cloud in the sky tonight) as it passed and started to fade it almost appeared to rotate or tumble, and then was gone flying south! Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! Somebody else had to see this. IT FLEW RIGHT OVER LOS ANGELES, and was definitely visible long enough to be filmed. I stared into the sky, motionless, mouth dry from a dropped jaw for ten minutes, tingling with chicken skin from head to toe. I contemplated what I saw, and I remember automatically thinking that we are not alone, and I saw proof of it tonight! That was not manmade, it was ******* cruisin man. There's no way that I can judge how far away it was, but in contrast to the plane moving like a slug at altitude, this thing was agile and silent. I also remember waiting for the sound wave that should've followed, and there was nothing, the light rumble of a plane at nearby lax is all I heard! I lost sight of it in the distance! The hairs on the back of my neck are still standing! Someone else had to see this, I'm not ******* crazy! I don't see things. My life is forever changed!

9 May 2010 - Missouri, US - On Sunday, my wife and kids were fishing at our house when my 2 yr old pointed at a passenger jet flying over head. I looked up and watched the jet cross the sky when an extremely bright object caught my eye. The sky was clear, bright blue sky around 5:00pm. This object was shiny silver, long cigar shaped and just sat there in the sky. I pointed to it to show my kids, 7yrs, 5yrs, and 2yrs. They all looked at it, my wife didn't want to admit she saw it, she thinkgs I'm crazy to want to see a ufo. But clear as day, this thing just hovered in one spot, not moving at all, and I know it couldn't have been any kind of balloon. I talked to it and said,"come on, come down here..", " I see you up there", and when I said that it seemed to get brighter, then floated off to the northwest. It never went up or down, but stayed at the same level so it couldn't have been balloons. Plus it was extremely bright for something in the sky during the day. I hope someone else saw it in my area.

8 May 2010 - Virginia, US - I was on my break from work, outside eating my lunch. This was at night during graveyard shift. I looked up into the sky and admired the stars at night. I saw several different stars, and one that I thought was Mars. I told myself, wow Mars is bright tonight. I ate my lunch, and then lied on the ground because of being tired while looking up at the sky. The star that I thought was Mars looked as if it was moving. My eyes gazed upon it, and it was moving in a very unpredictable zig zag motion. I thought that it may be a airplane, but airplanes don't stop nor zig zag as they would crash. I thought maybe a helicopter, but choppers do not look like Mars nor be that high up into the sky. The star would zig zag, stop in mid flight, and then turn in the complete opposite direction. The star was fixed in the sky while I was eating, but the minute I laid on the ground, it started moving. It seemed to know that I noticed it. It would sometimes circle, go back and forth, and then stop in midflight. No sound, nor any sign of any fuel propultion system.

As I was watching it more closely, I thought well maybe a satelite. But an orbiting satalite does not zig zag. I admired it for a little while, but then I had to return to work. On my second break, the sky was more hazy and all of the stars could not be seen. I laid back down again, and saw another star. This star was fixed, but did show up through the haze. I be darned, that star the started doing the same motion. I laughed at myself, and thought why do I make stars move. I shined my cell phone light up at it, but did not seem to get any response. The star did not look like Mars on the second break. It looked like a normal star light years away. But as this star started dancing, it got the Mars orange tint to it again.

In my opinion, it was was either in space or at the edge of earth's atmosphere. I think it was a technology that we do not have that I am aware of. Looking up into the sky, nobody would have noticed it at all. It fit into the whole sky. I would not have noticed either, until it started moving.

When I came to my belief that it was something from space, I thought that they were using it to see what us earthlings are doing. It wanted to be under cover. I think people who look for UFO's expect to see lights, triangles, or saucers, but does not think a star would be a UFO.

It was like a secret camera fixed to watch us in our normal day to day lives. The spies new that if the came in their ship, then there cover would be broken. It reminded me of like a probe driod from Star Wars.
I am a believer in alien life way before this event.

I admire Bill Birnes and the UFO Hunters. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology, and I am aware of all of the hullicinations and sometimes mind tricks. But this was as clear as a bell.

So it was no suprise to me to see a real extrordinary event. This was my first UFO sighting, so it confirms in my mind that we are not alone.

8 May 2010 - Missouri, US - Note: I took this report by phone this morning May 10, 2010 by a man who said he lived in the county near Platte City. He wishes to remain anonymous. I asked him to keep in touch with me and if he remembered anything else to give me a call. I named him John Doe because he did not want to give his name out, saying that his job would be in jeapordy if word got out. I assured him that all information would be kept confidential, but he said he couldn't take the risk. Margie Kay

REPORT:

The man stated that he went outside to tend to his dogs at approximately 9:15 PM when a light in the Northwest part of his pasture where he keeps cows caught his eye. He said that there was a beam of light coming down from a black triangular object. It looked like the depth from top to bottom was approximately 50 feet or so, the sides were very even and squared. There were three small white lights, one on each corner of the object, and one big white/blue light in the center. The object was approximately 300 yards from his position and looked like it was at least 100 yards in width from corner to corner. After he watched it for about 5-10 minutes, the beam of light went out and the craft moved upward into the clouds until he could no longer see it clearly. The UFO then moved in a Southwest direction very slowly, and just above the clouds. He stated that there was no sound whatsoever. He could see the lights on the UFO as it moved through the clouds. He stated that he was too paralyzed to move and go get a camera, but he thought that it would be too dark to get a picture anyway. He has never seen anything like this before. I asked him if he had gone to look at the area where he saw the light beaming down on his field and he said no, but he would sometime this week. He seemed somewhat afraid to go look at it. His wife was inside the house at the time and he has not told her about this, but wanted to tell someone what he saw. I also asked him to send me a sketch.

Great Granddaughter of President Eisenhower Exposes UFO Spy Game

In an article published by Examiner.com, and in posts published at several web sites, a person who claims to be Laura Magdalene Eisenhower, the great-granddaughter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, has been promoting an outlandish claim about a super-secret private effort to build a permanent outpost on Mars.

(STARpod.org) -- The great-granddaughter of President Eisenhower is alleging an attempted recruitment by persons known for their association with the Central Intelligence Agency.

Although the story was initially dismissed due to the outlandish claims and further embellishment cloaked in new age concepts, background research on file at STARstream Research, dating to 2006 appears to confirm at least some of the more down-to-earth details provided by Ms. Eisenhower.

In the web posting of her account of events, Ms. Eisenhower, who has now been identified as Laura Mahon, claims that in April 2006, she had been approached by "a man who we are calling Agent X."

"Agent X" released a statement to the public, in which he identifies himself as Richard Dell, of the Advanced Vehicle Research Center of North Carolina.

According to Ms. Eisenhower, following an engagement in June of the same year, "Agent X" "started to reveal things to me about this group he goes to who are quite psychic and deal with alien abduction related things. He himself had witnessed something truly bizarre with an animal skinned, that had all the blood sucked out and that the radiation or energy around this really affected his health for a long time."

The intriguing details behind this story involve contacts with persons know to be involved in US government intelligence activities, and in the research of alternative energy and aerospace propulsion systems, including nuclear powered rockets.

Based upon Ms. Eisenhower's account, Susan Eisenhower would be her mother.

At her website, Susan Eisenhower, a key energy consultant to the US government, identifies her three children, including Laura, and mentions twin grandchildren, which is consistent with Ms. Eisenhower's account. Ms. Eisenhower mentions that she "had given birth to twin sons" in her on-line statement.

Ms. Eisenhower's associate, Ki' Lia, provided a corroborative account at her own website.

As a matter of disclosure, persons associated with STARstream Research have had contact with Mr. Dell and some of his associates, for several years.

Euclid, Ohio UFO: MUFON on the scene third night in a row

Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) Field Investigator Tom Wertman was back at the Euclid, Ohio, UFO site for "day 10" in his continuing investigation of this case.

Euclid resident Eugene Erlikh, 20, first reported seeing a UFO over Lake Erie and as of Friday, had seen the object nine days in a row.

Wertman filed an official UFO sighting report with MUFON Saturday morning, and staked out the beach area below Erlikh's high rise apartment in anticipation of seeing the object again.

The buzz built during the afternoon through emails and phone calls on who was going to see if the mysterious lights would show over Lake Erie for the 10th night in a row.

Wertman and six other ufologists braved not only the cold, but drizzling rain.

"Everyone's expectations were high," Wertman said, "but I think the smart ones were the ones who stayed home. The ceiling is probably a little over 1000 ft. and while I was hoping we would see something tonight, tomorrow will be another day."

The winds along Lake Erie had kicked up by 7:30 p.m. and white caps were visible on the lake.

"We decided to call it quits before 8 p.m. and headed to the closest restaurant to eat and warm up. Unfortunately not only was the restaurant closed, but by the time we left, it started to snow."

The evening was not a total loss as the group discussed the prior day's events, reviewed photos and discussed possibilities on what the lights are.

Wertman said he plans to continue his investigation of this case.

Latest UFO Sightings Reports for March 15, 2010

14 Mar 2010 - Montana, USA - At approximately 2030 hrs MST, I took my dog out for his evening walk. As i walked into parking lot of my apartment building, I looked into the sky as I do every night. I noticed a bright light in the sky moving due east. I watched this bright light for about 5 minutes as it moved over the Bridger mountains between Bozeman and Livingston Montana. While I was watching it, I was comparing it to a plane in the sky flying NW. The plane was flying faster and at a higher altitude than the light. The light was flying very slowly and did not have any of the standard marking lights that airliners have. (ie. red and blue wing lights and the blinking belly light) After about five minutes or so, it then faded out. I didn't see it for the rest of the walk. When I came back inside I checked Nasa's site to see where the ISS was in comparison to my location. It was between South America and Africa at the time. I should also mention that the light was flying at a higher altitude than a Japanese flying lantern can get and the light was flying slower than a meteor. I called my mother so she could witness the event but the light faded before she had a chance to get to an east facing window. I was happy to have seen this event and hope to see another in the future.

14 Mar 2010 - Illinois, USA - Standing on back porch smoking after dinner cigar, looked due south saw an object 1.5-2.0 miles away, must've been pretty large, rough triangular shape cruising due eastward at least Mach 1 approx.1/4 mile distance suddenly turned north, NO gradual arc, perfect L, and disappeared. No aircraft moving at that speed can do that. Object had an amber colored light at outward edges, steady-running, and 1 flashing at rear apex between middle?! Dark tonite, slightly overcast, lights were how I was able to make out shape of object. This thing just 90*d w/NO stoppping or slowing due north and VISIBLY disappeared as if the lights on it were extinguished. Dropped cigar on self burnt hand running in here to file report.

14 March 2010 - Great Britain - I was in the area of Wythenshawe in Greater Manchester with a visit to my mother (she saw that to). It was about 7:50 pm and we came out with children to the car. And at the front of us on dark blue sky we saw bright (like burning) ball. We have noticed that, because it was moving slowly and it was quite low, not like an airplane. First, I thought that it was a meteor but I changed my mind as I realized it was coming not from up but from down. It wasn't flying straight but changing directions, its trajectory was like a zigzag. After a minute or so I saw similiar object moving to the same direction but lower. After another 10 minutes I was driving home. Then I spotted another object like those two, above Timperley. I have seen something like this first time in my life. I feel scared now.

14 March 2010 - California, USA - I was at the Gardena, CA post office around 10:00am Sunday, March 14 to send off a letter when I exited the building I looked up to see an airplane in the sky. I used to work at LAX and have always had a fascination with with flying aircraft.
I never thought that I would see something out of the ordinary until I saw bright objects flying around a central object that looked like a star. I had to confirm that I was seeing what this, I asked A person that was on his way into the post office to look up and confirm what I was seeing and he said that he did and asked how in the heck did you spot that?. I just told him to please tell me that you saw that and I'm not crazy. I Immediately drove home to tell my friends about the incident. I pointed to the star looking object. But there were no circulating orbs, they laughed at me and told me it was a star, but when that "Star" suddenly disappeared they stopped laughing.

13 March 2010 - California, USA - Around, 12:30 a fast flying object going about 150 or more passed over my house heading east. It was triangular with two things sticking out of the front. It had weird writing on the bottom and looked to be flying backwards. It made a low humming sound. I had a friend with me, he too saw it. It looked to be as big as 5 cars.

Other well-known speakers will include author Richard Dolan, Mexico TV host Jaime Maussan, filmmaker David Sereda and Travis Walton whose reported abduction by ETs on Nov. 5, 1975, near Snowflake, Arizona, was the basis of the 1993 movie "Fire in the Sky."

Since the alleged 1947 "Roswell incident" near a U.S. Army Air Corps base in New Mexico, the U.S. government may have been concerned about the nature of UFOs and ET visitation.

When WWII allied pilots reported strange lights darting around their aircraft, these "foo fighters" might also have triggered interest by U.S. and allied defense and intelligence officials.

But, does this phenomenon go back further in history? U.S. newspaper accounts from the 1800s tell of strange "air ships" reported by apparently reliable citizens. Some researchers say the UFO mystery may have existed in ancient human history as well.

Some Native American Indians have legends of visitors from the stars.

In more recent times, an unusual cluster of UFO sightings occurred over Washington, D.C., in the summer of 1952. Eyewitnesses, photographers and radar operators reported and documented the unusual lights in the sky over the American capitol.

According to some researchers, in the post-WWII era it was determined by U.S. defense, intelligence and scientific personnel that something quite strange was indeed going on. But what?

Gathering information and developing plans accordingly were reportedly part of the response to this challenging situation. Other people and governments around the world also found themselves in the loop of the UFO phenomena.

Was Earth being visited by intelligent and advanced beings from another planet? If so, who were they and what were their intentions – friendly or hostile? And what was the technology that powered their spacecraft?

How would average people react to this scenario? Would there be mass panic in the face of potential adversaries? Or, would Earth be gradually infiltrated and conquered the way Europeans defeated the indigenous people of the Americas?

What methods could be used to educate and prepare average people for this alleged reality?

NEW UNDERSTANDING, MORE QUESTIONS

In the decades since the so-called Roswell incident, scientists have proposed theories about the interface of different dimensions in our Universe. In fact, it is now sometimes referred to as a multiverse – a place of parallel and intersecting realities.

Some theories now suggest that visitors are not only simply from faraway planets or moons, but exist in some other unique relationship to our world. They may get here through what are called wormholes, portals or star gates which provide shortcuts through time and space.

Why might these unusual visitors be interested in Earth, the human race and the diverse species of life on this planet in what we call the Milky Way galaxy?

It's unclear to most people what the agenda might be.

Defense and intelligence activities in this area have reportedly been regarded as a very high priority, and with accompanying high security. What progress has been made in this area? This, too, is a matter that has been difficult for researchers to uncover.

Astonishing UFO video from China comes to light

The UFO footage below has recently come to light. It is believed to have been filmed in one of China's wilderness regions in the last year. It shows what seems to be a flock of birds mid-air and a glimmering UFO in the background that might be observing them.

UFO experts who have watched this clip have wondered if these are actually birds or rather a fleet of UFOs and the object in the background is the mother-ship from which they emerged. Other UFO researchers have noted that it is well documented that visiting aliens take an interest in earthly wildlife and not just humanity.

China experienced an extreme UFO flap in the second half of last year after which UFO sightings died down for a while. In the last month however it seems the UFIO sightings have increased dramatically with almost daily events that many believe might be of an extraterrestrial nature.

The UFO footage below was sent to us by a reader. Allegedly it was uploaded to YouTube after being filmed recently in the vicinity of the town of Guatape in the South American nation of Colombia.

It shows a static spherical shaped UFO surrounded by very bright light that it appears to be emitting. Whoever shot the film has chosen to remain anonymous and little more than the above information is known regarding the video.

There are skeptics that claim this kind of UFO footage in fact depicts lens flare however UFO experts counter that little evidence exists to back up this claim as such examples of lens flare are rarely if ever found outside of alleged UFO footage.

UFO sightings are very common in Colombia. Some UFO researchers believe that this frequent UFO activity is due to Colombia's proximity to North East Brazil where allegedly a UFO highway exit is said to exist.

Nearby the town of Guatape lies the 'Guatape Rock' a highly irregular rock formation that local native tribes believe was created by being that descended from the stars. This too might well be of interest to visiting aliens.

Mass UFO sighting in France investigated and confirmed by police

Police on the Isle of Oleron off the coast of France near the city of Bordeaux have confirmed that they are investigating a mass UFO sighting that took place on New year's Eve. The authorities have interviewed at least three independent witnesses and believe that their testimonies are reliable.

The Police officer handling the initial investigation, Lieutenant Bourdajeau, noted that 'The testimonies of witnesses seem highly consistent and we can verify that this was not a hallucination: An egg shape object appeared at around 8pm, it was silent and hovered in one spot before speeding off in a westerly direction. We have informed our superiors of this event'.

One witness, Jean Louis Fesseau, joked that his friends might laugh when they find out he saw a UFO but noted he 'spent thirty five years at sea and know what a flare or a helicopter look like.' '

I know what I saw' said Mr Fesseau who happily co-operated when contacted by the police.

'A craft, all lit up in red and yellow, stayed fixed for quite a while -- about 12 seconds, before then disappearing again without a noise but at a tremendous speed' The 60-year old fisherman remarked. 'I would say the UFO was at about 600 metres from the coast and at a height of about 300 metres.'

The police will soon hand the file over to GEIPAN, France's official UFO investigative body, for further study.

1 January 2010 - Florida, USA - Guys, Last night just after New Years 12:05 am 1/1/09 My family witnessed and video taped a V formation of 10-12 Lights in Jupiter Florida. These lights were orange in appearance and moved from the E to NNE just over the trees in our back yard, The video does show the lights and trees illuminated from the Full Moon. Did You get any other reports from this area ? This is nothing I could Identify or from the movement and size of image as normal. Please call me for further help. 1 January 2010 - California, USA - New Years night 2010 just after 12:15 am, I looked out my Patio and seen three red light in a triangle formation low in the Southern sky. It appeared to drift slowly West. It first I thought it was fireworks.
One by one the lights dimmed then were gone. With High powered Binoculars I could see the lights were still there but not visible to the naked eye.

1 January 2010 - Northamptonshire, UK - I looked outside the window and saw an orange sphere traveling in a south westerly direction across the sky. I went outside and saw more orange spheres traveling in the same direction but not on the same flightpath. In about a period of 30 minutes I must have seen about 30 orange spheres .(Approximately about 1 sphere a minute). They were about 1000 feet high , very bright , traveling about the speed of an propeller aircraft. There was no noise at all coming from the spheres. I look at them through binoculars. I called all my family to view the spheres and my brother took some photos of them. They were definitely NOT a firework, Chinese Lantern, Balloon or an aircraft. I and my family have never seen anything like this before.

1 January 2010 - Great Britain - At about 1:55 am this morning while driving home I saw 5 light in the sky ahead. It was a nearly clear night sky and very cold. The lights were the yellow colour of fire and flickering slightly. I stopped the car and we got out to watch. The lights moved steadily over our heads along the line of the flight path to our local airport. There was no noise. The second light then came to the side of the first light and overtook it. After passing overhead then entered light cloud and one by one faded and disappeared. Immediately after a 6th light appeared ahead along the same path and passed over in about 2 minutes. I got in the car and started up then noticed the seventh again from the same origin and traveling the same direction. We got out again and watched. After moving fairly quickly overhead it seemed to virtually stop moving for about an minute then faded and disappeared. At no point was there any noise even though it was a very quiet night.

There was a little light cloud at from 1500 to 3000 feet and the lights were below at this level.

I am a doctor and UFO skeptic so I don't know what to make of these lights. We live on the airport flight path and are used to aircraft passing over. This was different. The light were far to close for aircraft and should not overtake if they were floating in the wind. They were traveling the same direction as the clouds but were catching up to them! then seemed to go through the clouds and slowly disappeared.

1 January 2010 - New Mexico, USA - Well first of all it was New Years about 12:27 a.m. I had just walked my girlfriend outside and kissed her. as she was approaching down stairs, she immediately ran back to me ,she said" babe come outside!So i went outside and she said "babe look"! So we both looked we saw a bright red light going really slow. it didn't have the lights as you would see on a air plane. It was going south now we are located eubank and lomas. going just as slow as an airplane. Anyways, my girlfriend comes out her apartment as she approaches my house she see,s another orange bright light going the same direction no noise very silent going the same direction. We watch it until it disappeared.

1 January 2010 - California, USA - I walked outside for the new years event and in the north sky I saw 3 laser bright red lights. It is a full moon tonight and the lights were VERY BRIGHT vs. the moon. The lights position to me were at 12-3-6 o'clock at about a 45 degree from the ground up. The lights were drifting towards the west and moving very-very slowly. The 12 o'clock light started to dim and then dropped from its position in the sky, from 45 deg. to about 20 deg straight down in about 45 seconds time. of watching it. Then the light dimmed and went out of view behind houses. All the while its light emission was still visible, faint and blinking. It took about 45 seconds for this event. The 3-6 position lights were still very bright in the sky about 45 deg. from the ground up. The 2 remaining lights went dim and out about 20 min. from the start of the event. My first thought was was 3 flares. But 1 of the lights fell from the sky before going dim and the 2 others remained bright and high in the sky drifting towards the west while still being 45 deg. above the horizon before dimming out of site. My wife took cell phone pictures.

31 December 2009 - California, USA - Just before midnight saw 3 solid red lights slowly rise then hold in stationary position in elongated triangle, held in this position for 5 minutes or so then faded....this occurred from apx 11:57 PM right across midnight into the new year. Saw one of these lights originate from the same place exactly one year ago at exactly the same time. Also saw one of these lights July 4th 2008. The difference this time around was there were 3 in formation. Looked through binoculars , just got bigger red lights, no shape other then the triangle position of the lights as described above. Further more, got a call from a friend of mine a couple of miles away who was seeing them as well, wanted to make me aware of them. Googled event and other people, many, have seen these lights before, July 4th this year and New Years last year{Same light I saw} My feeling is these are not extra terrestrial , but then again, likely not simple flares as they were STATIONARY and holding a tight formation...certainly very strange..tried to take picture but the limitations of my camera at night photographing distant , relative, small objects leaves a lot to be desired....Did I mention they were dead silent?

31 December 2009 - Minnesota, USA - We were looking outside our home b/c someone in a fish house 2 miles away was letting off fireworks for New Years. This object flew near the fireworks and over house- perhaps a little over 2 miles. My mother spotted it, I and my son saw it, we told my father and had to run outside, but he saw only one blink and it disappeared. There is a blue moon and low lying wispy clouds. This was no aircraft. It was a red circle that flashed white. It was moving in a line...looked like the fireworks blinking like that, but it was not fireworks. My mom said, 'well there is an alien ship' like it was no big deal...seriously, we'll be looking for more tonight. We made a big joke that it was scared of the 'man of the house' b/c it disappeared when my father went outside and saw the object.

31 December 2009 - Great Britain - 3 lights came at a 90 degree angle to the usual flightpath of planes from here (we are under the Heathrow Flightpath), they were flying at about the same speed as planes usually do here, but had the colour of candles. I assumed they were Chinese lanterns, but then one suddenly changed direction by 90 degrees to cross one of the others, then turned 180 degrees to cross the other. Then all flew towards London and disappeared (may have been covered by clouds). They were too close together to be planes and there were no red/green lights, just orange. There was no noise, so they were not a helicopter and as only one changed direction and quite suddenly they were unlikely to be Chinese lanterns.

I was in the garden at the time to have a cigarette I noticed them mainly because they came from a different direction than planes do round here and because they were so close together and in a straight line.I first thought they were hot air balloons / Chinese lanterns. I had no specific feeling, apart from surprise. I lost sight when they disappeared, either under clouds or just vanished. (we have broken low clouds tonight).

Eerie outpost unnerves US Marines with strange lights and whispers in the night

The Marines found the bone as they scraped a shallow trench. Long, dry and unmistakably once part of a human leg, it was followed by others. They reburied most of them but also found bodies. Three of the graves were close together; in another was a skeleton still wearing a pair of glasses. The Marines covered the grave and told their successors to stay away from it.

Observation Point Rock sits a few hundred metres south east of Patrol Base Hassan Abad, where a company from 2/8 Marines has been stationed for the past seven months. It is a lonely and exposed outpost 20 metres (65ft) above the surrounding landscape, which has been in Nato hands since it was captured from the Taleban in 2008.

Groups of Marines are posted to guard it, usually for a couple of months at a time, and “the Rock” has acquired a peculiar reputation. American troops widely refer to it as “the haunted Observation Point”.

It is hard to say how much the 100F (38C) heat, round-the-clock guard shifts and months spent living in trenches and peering out of sandbagged firing points have gilded the legend of OP Rock. The only break from the tedium, apart from dog-eared magazines and an improvised gym, has been small-arms or rocket-propelled grenade attacks from the Taleban, usually on a Sunday morning.

But as Sergeant Josh Brown, 22, briefed his successor when a detachment of men from Golf Company was swapped for an incoming contingent from Fox Company, he warned of the strange atmosphere and inexplicable phenomena that plagued OP Rock. “The local people say this is a cursed place,” he said. “You will definitely see weird-ass lights up here at night.”

Others in the outgoing unit had reported odd sounds. “It is weird what you hear and don’t hear around here,” he added.

Each successive detachment that guards the Rock appears to add its own layer to the legend, which has spread through the Marine units pushing into southern Helmand.

There is talk of members of the Taleban entombed in caves below; the bodies buried on the summit are identified confidently as dead Russian soldiers from the ill-fated Soviet invasion.

Corporal Jacob Lima’s story is the latest addition. One night he was woken by the sound of screaming. It was Corporal Zolik, a Marine who has since been moved to a unit farther south. “He was yelling and begging me to go up to the firing point he was guarding,” Corporal Lima, 22, told the men taking over from him. “When I got there he said that he was sitting there when he heard a voice whisper something in his ear. He said it sounded like Russian. He begged me to stay in there with him till he was relieved from guard duty. After that he really didn’t like standing post up there.”

The Marines’ predecessors, a unit of Welsh Guards, also produced tales of the unexpected. “The Brits claimed to see weird things, hear noises,” Corporal Lima said. “Lots of them said it’s creepy at night, especially from midnight till 4am. You see a lot of unexplained lights through night-vision goggles.”

Its elevation has clearly made the Rock a natural defensive position for centuries. It is not a rock, though it resembles one. Medieval arrow slits and the remains of fortified turrets on its eastern flank show that this was once a large mud fort that collapsed in on itself and was probably built upon in turn. The locals say that it dates back to Alexander the Great, and another similar structure is visible in the distance to the south, part of a supposed line of such forts built at some point in Afghanistan’s history of invasion and war.

When US Marines seized the post last summer they dropped a 2,000lb (900kg) bomb on one side, collapsing part of the structure on to what its current occupants claim was a cave where Taleban fighters were sheltering.

“This place really sucks,” said Lance Corporal Austin Hoyt, 20, putting his pack on to return to the main base. “The Afghans say it’s haunted. Stick a shovel in anywhere and you’ll find bones and bits of pottery. This place should be in National Geographic — in the front there are weird-looking windows for shooting arrows. You know, they say the Russians up here were executed by the Mujahidin.”

He looked meaningfully at his successors and prepared to leave.

Pittsburgh UFO sightings in 2009

There were a total of 64 UFO sighting reports filed for the four-county metropolitan Pittsburgh region this year. Leading the way was Westmoreland County with 37 sightings, followed by Allegheny with 18, Beaver 5, and Washington 4. One of the more interesting reports came shortly after the New Year, on January 3. A witness was driving west on Lincoln Way toward the intersection of Route 48, when he noticed a bright string of lights forming a triangular-shaped object hovering motionless above a Giant Eagle parking lot. The witness admitted to being a poor judge of height and size, but claimed the object was huge, and close to the ground. While watching the object, more lights started to appear on the edges. The lights suddenly lit up with a brilliant flash before returning to the original light pattern. The object then seemed to simply vanish into thin air. Another sighting of note was reported on September 7 from a witness who observed a strange object while sitting in his parked car at the Pittsburgh Mills mall. The witness noticed a strange, dark, pea-sized circle. Using a pair of binoculars, the object appeared to be shiny at times, then become more transparent before becoming cylindrical in shape. The witness estimated the size of the object to be between 40-100 feet in length.

The "Pittsburgh Lights" reported in September were strikingly similar to a rash of similar reports that came in from all across the United States, including: Anaheim, California; Boise, Idaho; Illinois, and many more. The lights were attributed to an earlier launching of a NASA rocket.

At least half of the 37 Westmoreland County sightings came from a single witness out of Murrysville, Pennsylvania. The Mutual UFO Network (Mufon) conducted several investigations including detailed analysis of still photos and digital video submitted by the witness. As a result of the investigations, Mufon determined that these sightings were all a hoax.

The following is a delayed report of a sighting that occurred in St. Petersburg, Florida in October. The report was filed today.

St. Petersburg, Florida - Coming from the clouds in the northern sky was a large triangular-shaped object. The object was almost the same light gray as the clouds. The witness watched as the object slowly changed to the darkness of the sky. By the time the object came directly over the witness' house he would have never seen it unless he had his eyes fixated on it for the entire time. The object was a giant triangle approximately one mile from tip to tip. The object had a dim light on the front, and it blocked out the stars above as it continued to travel. The object finally disappeared over the clouds to the south. The witness estimated that the total time of travel from north to south was about three minutes.

30 December 2009 – Pennsylvania, USA – Three bright blasts of white light over the town of Mt Pleasant. About ten minutes later we heard helicopters. More than one at first. Could here them for a few minutes before we decided to go outside. One flew over very low. We only saw the one, but we had definitely heard more than one. They were loud and low. Seemed to look dark blue, long and big, and had search lights on. Lights seemed to be too high for fireworks, although it is a possibility. Don't know why helicopters would have showed up like that for one quick incident of fireworks.

30 December 2009 – Washington, DC, USA – I was sitting at my computer looking at Live cameras in various cities. I went to EarthCam.com and look at our nations capital. There was a link to a U.S. Park Service camera that had a view from the Netherlands Carillon Looking East. Visual range, according to the camera, is approximately 88 miles.

I copied the picture it took to my desktop and when it updated a couple minutes later, the "effect" was gone. I am attaching the photo that the NPS camera took as I saw it. No tampering has been done to the attached photo.

29 December 2009 – Alberta, Canada – Walking on a moonlit trail at 7:30 p.m. My partner noticed a bright light in the sky. it was not moving quickly,with sound or blinking. For me it was larger than a light on a plane and brighter with white centre and red edge. Watching this light accelerate and slow down holding a straight course slowly across the sky. Then I noticed a second object farther south flying in a similar manner. After 40 seconds the first on became dimmer and disappeared the second did the same thing in a similar spot in the sky. No sooner had the second fizzed out a third one came out of the same area in the south sky and did a similar flight pattern again and disappeared as well after 30 seconds. I've seen comet's, meteor's, northern lights, sky lab, The ISS and satellites never seen anything like this.

29 December 2009 – Ohio, USA – We had just come back from the movies, I went and saw Paranormal activity with a few friends. I stopped and got some beer on the way home but the puppy was barking as soon as we got in so i took her out to go potty, I noticed the sky was clear and out of the corner of my eye I saw what looked like a string of lights. It was moving almost like a flock of geese would, going from west to east. It looked like a bunch of very distant stars almost all being blown around together. I don’t think there is really anything to compare its motion to. I'd like to say a string being blown in the wind but it would have to be a very light string. I Watched it for a minute and yelled for my fiance to come see but he did not come, so i went in to grab my digital camera which was sitting on the coffee table, I only took one picture and after seeing how dark the image was I gave up on the idea, it may have been because i didn’t turn the flash off but by this time the objects were moving further away and i made one last attempt to call my fiance out who did come when they were very distant. unfortunately he said he wasn’t able to see the lights.Maybe I'm crazy but I’m very certain I saw this if you'd like I do have the picture without being edited what so ever and it is on a digital camera if that matters. I have the original and I tried to make the image lighter...there were no clouds in the sky but it appears there are in the picture but I’m guessing that was only my breath. When i saw the objects they were in front of me, our puppy goes to the right in our flower bed to use the restroom, while watching her i noticed the objects and looked up. I would retype this but the website is deleting AS i type so I don’t want to retype this whole thing... I got the link to this website after looking up possible explanations for what i saw.

29 December 2009 – Louisiana, USA – My 2 kids & I were driving home after picking up some batteries at the Dollar General store at 5497 Airline Drive in Bossier City, Louisiana. The receipt says I checked out at 6:43pm, so it probably took about 10 minutes to get to the area where we all 3 saw the object. In order to get home, we drive north on Airline, turn right (east) onto "Linton", then right again onto "Parks". This road, "Parks", is very winding & runs along the edge of a bayou/large man-made lake, "Cypress Lake/Black Bayou". We had just gone over the very small bridge on "Parks" that goes over the water there (you can see this all in detail on Mapquest using 5497 Airline- zip 71111" "as the start & "220 Running Deer Lane -zip 71006" as the end, although the road doesn't look near as winding on the aerial view because it doesn't show the road blocks that are up now, etc.) at which point the road makes a very sharp turn & is flanked by a tall levy on the left (north) side & a swamp area on the other. In the distance ahead, above the levy, we could see a very bright "star" off to the left side of the horizon above the trees. It was very cloudy, with no other stars visible, I noticed. It was very still. I saw it, but said nothing, as my hubby is always on the lookout for ufo's & I do believe they exist, but unlike him, I don't like talking about it with the kids so much, as I think it might be a bit confusing to them. So, I just looked & said nothing, but then my 8-year-old son says, "Hey Mom, look at that star over there; isn't it weird?"

I said it was pretty bright, at which he asked if I thought it was the North star. I told him I didn't think that it was a star, really. Too big & bright. Maybe it's a light on the top of an oil derrick or a REALLY tall crane. (I'd never seen either there before, but there's been quite a bit of construction right in that very area were now driving through.) "An oil derrick, THAT HIGH???", he answered, skeptically. "I bet it's a UFO."

"Oh, God. Now his dad's got him all into that stuff too", I thought. "Well, I don't know about that for sure. We'll see in a minute when we get up here."

Ok. So all that transpired in about 30 seconds time, maybe, & the bright light was now directly ahead of us, I'd assumed it looked like that because of the sharp curving of the road, not because the light itself moving. It was so smooth & slow & level, it seemed. I was trying to NOT think of this as a weird situation with my kids! In fact, by now I was so dumbfounded that I only put together certain details that didn't add up to its being anything BUT a UFO/government craft until after it was over & I had time to think about it. Because of the heavy road construction & short detour, the trees blocked it from our view as we passed the dam (clearly visible on the aerial-view map) but I could see it as we rounded the bend & it was bright as ever & now on our RIGHT side & still up ahead, but it appeared to be much closer at this point, which was about 3600 feet from where we first saw it at the bend in the road. We kept traveling up the road at the same speed of about 45 mph for another 2000 feet or so, & the thing was still there as big & bright as up in the night sky right ahead of us. So we are all just saying,"Oh my God!!! LOOK! Do you see that?!", to each other, even though, of course, we all do. As I turn around the last very sharp turn on this road, it comes to a stretch of road that is very straight for about 1400 feet before ending in a "T" at "Crouch Rd,". (On the aerial map, this will appear as a right-angle some distance after the dam, which then makes another very sharp, almost-right-angle immediately after the first. It was this second turn after which we saw the UFO very closely) Right when I made the turn, it was just there plain as day, about 4 stories(?) above the ground, very low. I saw the triangular shape & the flickering lights on the back & said aloud to myself, "Oh, that's just something from Barksdale", as it looked rather like one of those pointy stealth planes. But then I thought, WAIT- IT'S NOT MAKING ANY SOUND & IT'S NOT MOVING EITHER! To say that I was tripping out would be an understatement. I neglected to mention that there was another vehicle, I think it was a truck, behind me riding my bumper this whole time, & so as I thought of stopping for a closer look, I also was afraid they'd rear-end me. I knew there was a road coming up on the left, "Cypress Village", that NEVER has any traffic on it, so I planned to do a U-turn & then stop to get a better view.

It was all happening so fast! As I approached that road, we were almost under it & we could see the huge dark shape of it above with 3 round, bright lights in the middle in a triangle pattern, & with 4 smaller red & white lights in a row along the back end which were lighting up in a certain rapid sequence over & over. I can't recall if they lit up clockwise or counter-clockwise....At the very end before I turned, I had to lean completely up over the steering wheel & look straight up through the windshield to still see it. It was jaw-dropping, scary, yet amazing. I did the fastest u-ee ever on that street & by the time I had done the 180, it was far up into the sky appearing as a plane flying over might look. it was also going back in the direction we'd just come from rather quickly. I grabbed my phone & called my hub, as this would've been his ultimate dream to have experienced, & told him we were now following the craft back in the other direction. We stayed on the phone for the short time that we could still see it, way up ahead, & by the time we rounded the blind-spot detour this second, speedier time, it had vanished. It was amazing that the phone worked, because that whole area, from that very first curve by the bridge all the way to some good distance up "Crouch" is usually a dead zone, although there has been a couple of other times where it didn't drop my call. I was glad he got to hear what was happening at least. My son said afterward that he was shaking from fright, & my 5-year-old daughter isn't afraid of anything, so it was really just an adventure to her. :) I was quite shaken & feel as if I must be crazy, although I know & my kids know what we each saw that night. I sat in the car talking to my friend, whom I called right after it was over, & my son went inside the house, & unbeknownst to me, started drawing a pic to show Dad what it looked like. (He's actually rather good artist for his age too!) After I came in a few minutes later, I took Dad into the back of the house to tell him all about it, & drew a very simple sketch showing the basic shape & position of the lights on it. Shortly after that, my son came in & held up his much-better version of the same thing I'd drawn only minutes before. At this point, I'm still a bit confused about why it did that, & only wonder where it came from - space, or from the nearby Barksdale AFB. And who was in that truck behind me & where did they go? I didn't notice in the middle of my freakout....I'd like to find them & talk about it; surely they saw it too. Also, I'd like to mention that we saw another mysterious light in the sky back in the summer this year. It was in South Shreveport, on a piece of property owned by my boss on Wallace Lake Rd. As I said, dear hub's ALWAYS keeping an eye out, & I've gotten called away from doing dishes or other tasks to check out things that turn out to be planes, satellites, etc. on many occasions in the past. But this night, as we were out stargazing, we saw a BRIGHT light in the sky verrrryyyy far away amongst the stars which stopped & started a few times & then just shrank inward from a big bright halo of light to absolutely within maybe a minute's time. Very odd, but this recent event tops it all!!! I'll try to send a copy of the sketches soon!

After 50 years, UK ministry shuts down UFO unit

After more than 50 years of service, the ministry has shut down its UFO investigation unit, saying it could no longer justify the cost of running the service.

The ministry said it had found no evidence of a threat to Britain or proof of the existence of extra-terrestrials, despite the public sending thousands of reportings of UFOs to a ministry hotline and email address.

It said it held no opinion on the existence or otherwise of alien life, but added it had "no specific capability for identifying the nature of such sightings."

"There is no defense benefit in such investigation and it would be an inappropriate use of defense resources," it said.

Any threat to the country's air space would be spotted by radar checks and dealt with by Royal Air Force (RAF) aircraft, a ministry spokesman said.

Resources would be focused on more important priorities, including the war in Afghanistan, where Britain has 9,000 troops fighting Taliban insurgents, as part of NATO forces, he added.

The dedicated UFO officer who dealt with the reports has been re-assigned to another post, saving 44,000 pounds ($73,000) a year.

Researchers: Jim Morrison "Ghost" Picture Not Fake

In 1997, rock historian Brett Meisner visited late Doors frontman Jim Morrison's grave at Paris, France's Pere Lachaise cemetery. His assistant took a photo of him at the grave, and that was that.

But five years later, he looked at the photo and saw something kind of frightening: A very faint image in the background that looked like Morrison.

The image made its way onto the internet and is also discussed in a new book, Ghosts Caught On Film 2: Photographs Of The Unexplained.

The book says researchers can not account for the faint image in the background. They've decided it can't be a trick of the light, and have also ruled out the image being manipulated (Photoshop, etc.) in any way.

Maybe Morrison's "ghost" is to blame for all the vandalism on his grave that caused authorities to put a fence around his tombstone?

Or not.

At any rate, Meisner says the Morrison photo screwed up his life.

"Part of me wishes that I never stepped foot into the graveyard in the first place," he told the Daily Express.

"I'm partly to blame for talking about it in the first place. I should have kept it to myself.

"I've had strangers come to my home at all hours of the night wanting to talk to me saying they had messages from Jim.

"At first it was sort of interesting to see how many people felt a spiritual bond with Jim and the photo, but now the whole vibe seems negative."

In fact, Meisner literally wants to remove the negative from his life. He now says he plans to donate the photo and negative to an organization.

06 Oct 09 - Colorado, US - On October 6th in Centennial, CO at about 3:00pm I was sitting in my car facing west at the school bus stop where my grandson would be dropped off to be driven back to our house. Before the bus arrived, I was looking through the front windshield and suddenly noticed an odd V-shaped object moving slowly across the sky going North. There was no sound, and the V shape was moving in the direction of the open end on its side like this <>. No windows and no apparent lights from the craft.

After about a minute, I was still watching when it instantly disappeared and could not be seen again. I could not relocate the object in view even after intense scrutiny of the area in front of the path of motion. It just seemed to disappear into thin air.

So the two strangest aspects of this were the object moving in the open V direction, and the fact that it disappeared instantly from view after a full minute of observation.

I’ve seen many aircraft in my lifetime, but never anything like this, because it just seemed to come into view suddenly and then disappear suddenly without a trace.

07 Oct 09 - Hawaii, US - My roommate woke me up around 2am telling me there was something strange in the sky and that it might be a ufo. I got up and went out on our east facing lanai. almost directly east there was a very abnormally bright light in the sky, which could have past for a very bright star or planet. every few seconds though, the light would grow brighter, or change colors, ranging from white, silver, to a more bluish color. The object never moved in any direction or differed in its actions. around 3am an airplane took off from honolulu international airport and flew eastward south of the object.

04 Oct 09 - Kansas, US - As we were traveling on 10 hiway coming east out of lawrence, ks about noon on sunday, oct. 4, 2009, we sighted two objects moving e/ne over eudora, ks. just after sighting, the object on the right veered se and disappeared while the object to the left continued traveling ne. at desoto we exited 10 hiway and began driving side roads in an effort to keep tracking the object. we tracked it all the way to the kansas river and then lost it as it appeared to descend over the hilly woods just sw of bonner springs about 12:22pm.

the objects appeared retangular and grey-colored,and, and since they were moving away from us, we felt we were looking at the rectangular rear-ends of the objects. we cannot say for sure what the entire shape of the objects would have been, but both of them also had what appreared to be two circular "engines?" or "ports?" with a connecting silvery stripe between them on the rectangular rear-ends visible to us.

As far as we could tell, they flew totally silently.

27 Sept 09 - California, US - About 4-5am, from the deck of my home I saw the following event. I get up most clear mornings and go out to observe the sky. Some times with binoculars and sometime with out.

While observing the Orion nebula I saw a fast moving light moving from below the Orion constellation in an upward direction. Another light of about the same brightness came in at about a 30 degree angle and seemed to join the first. There was no flash of an explosion and the lights became one. I thought one pass the other but this did not happen. When the lights reached each other one disappeared and the other continued until it faded out.

I have seen the space station and other satellites but they never moved in the trajectory these two objects did. We live below a major air coridor with many aircraft passing over each night (and day).

I can not even guess at the altitude. The magnitude (brightness) was about the same as the average star around the Orion constellation.

This was a naked eye observation.

05 Oct 09 - Arizona, US - After a long day at work my girlfriend and I sat outside in our chairs drinking a glass of wine. I looked up and saw a very fast moving light and thought it was a satellite move in irregular patterns and appeared to disappear into space. I thought it was a fluke until we saw another one flying from north to south-west. I called my friend that lives down the street and he came over. During this time we saw a few more. At 8:45 he arrived and we told him what he saw. We continued to look at the sky and talk. An hour went by without seeing anything until my girlfriend spotted a white ball like object that was beneath the clouds and it looked big, the size of quarter at arms length. The object flew from west to east and again appeared to fly out to space. The last event was about 20 seconeds and flew really fast. That night it was full moon with scattered clouds. The sky wasn't really the best but good enough to clearly spot the fast moving balls of light. All of the lights were white, contained no blinking lights.

05 Oct 09 - California, US - Camp Pendleton, San Diego County, 8:15 p.m., October 5, 2009 - We were driving north on the San Diego Freeway (Interstate 5) through Camp Pendleton when all of a sudden a bright red light caught my attention to the left out over the ocean, maybe about a mile or so ahead of our car. It was so unusual I could not stop staring at it. I did not know what it was and it did not appear to be like any aircraft such as a helicopter or plane of any sort. It glowed very intensely and pulsated at a regular interval, maybe 1 or 2 seconds apart. The intensity of the light was strong and constant. The color was ruby-like or light reddish. My instinct told me this was not any regular flying craft that I knew of. The light was much too intense to be of any known aircraft lighting system and there were no other lights blinking or stationary on it as you would normally see on a plane or helicopter. The object was stationary for several seconds and then began to move eastward toward the San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station which was on the beach side of the freeway as we travelled north. As it approached the nuclear plant it disappeared and faded away and then I knew this was no regular or military aircraft. As its light disappeared I intently kept watching to see if it would appear again and only a few seconds later IT REAPPEARED ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY ACROSS FROM THE NUCLEAR PLANT NEAR THE MOUNTAIN RIDGE where it moved eastward for a few seconds and then disappeared behind the mountain ridge into the valley behind it. Its light appeared to fade as it moved right behind this edge of the mountain. I'm wondering if this object was flaunting itself as it could be clearly seen by anyone on the busy freeway, and then all of a sudden, it wanted to travel over the freeway unseen and then reappear on the other side in clear view. Now, here you have a military base AND a nuclear generating station together where an unusual flying object is seen hovering and flying, could it be attracted to these for some reason? Also, when it reappeared, it was near the several high voltage power lines emanating from the nuclear power plant. Could it have been attracted to the large magnetic fields of these power lines running up the mountain or could these have disrupted it power source as it faded away? I used to be a skeptic but I am a firm believer now. This is the real deal.

29 Sept 09 - Maine, US - I was on my deck, I looked up and saw the object moving from NW to SE . I called my girlfriend to look at it also . I thought it was a satellite but it was bright and it was to low . it made no noise . This is the second time I've seen this . I observe the same thing back in june at about 6:00 pm . I've seen otherthings over the past couple of years also.

1 Oct 09 - Florida, US - We had just had the first front of the season and the night was very clear and free of humidity. there was a full moon in the east. My girlfriend and i were walking our dogs in the side yard (double lot) I was looking up and to the west at the stars, as i said it was a super clear night when movement caught my eye...it looked almost like a wisp of a cloud or mist. I focused on it and realized i was looking a a craft of some sort. i watched it all the while trying to get my girlfriend to come over and see it. by the time she had, all she saw was a white hue (she also did not have her contacts in)..which at that point is what it looked like to me. it was moving north to south. i got a very good look at the craft, it was a triangle, of that i am sure. If i had not been looking right at it, it would have been hard to see ...no lights, it was illuminated by my guess from the full moon and the ambient light from below...it was clearly defined and a triangle..moving fairly slow..also quiet, not a sound, the corners seemed to have a bit more illumination. this was not a glimpse of something far off. it was just west and almost above. i watched it for a good 10-12 seconds..i of course looked up this sort of thing online and thought it important to note that our house in approx 200 yards from I-75, because it was traveling parallel to it, seems to be a trend. also would like to note that even though I'm 41 i just had on eye doctor visit and my vision is still 20 20. An amazing experience and i feel very lucky to have witness such a thing. if it was ours...we have some very advanced technology. But I truely feel it was something else, as crazy as that sounds...it just had that feel.

5 Oct 09 - Indiana, US - I was outside smoking a ciggerate at work and saw a white object flying over very slow. I went inside, came back out, and it was flying over again even slower. Then I kept looking for it and it came much closer, then veered to the right and backwards about 20 miles within 2 seconds. It then proceeded to hover in one spot for a half an hour and started to slowly move away and finally disapear.

Bermuda Triangle plane mystery 'solved'

Two of the so-called Bermuda Triangle's most mysterious disappearances in the late 1940s may have been solved.

Scores of ships and planes are said to have vanished without trace over the decades in a vast triangular area of ocean with imaginary points in Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico.

But journalist Tom Mangold's new examination for the BBC provides plausible explanations for the disappearance of two British commercial planes in the area, with the loss of 51 passengers and crew.

One plane probably suffered from catastrophic technical failure as a result of poor design, while the other is likely to have run out of fuel.

Sixty years ago, commercial flights from London to Bermuda were new and perilous. It would require a refuelling stop on the Azores before the 2,000-mile flight to Bermuda, which at that time was the longest non-stop commercial overseas flight in the world.

The planes would have been operating at the limit of their range. Today planes arriving at the tiny Atlantic island have sufficient reserve fuel to divert to the US East Coast 700 miles away, in case of emergency.

And the planes of the post-war era were far less reliable than today's airliners.

British South American Airways (BSAA), which operated the route, had a grim safety record. In three years it had had 11 serious accidents and lost five planes with 73 passengers and 22 crew members killed.

Unsolved mystery

On 30 January 1948, a BSAA Avro Tudor IV plane disappeared without trace. Twenty-five passengers and a crew of six were on board The Star Tiger. No bodies or wreckage were found.

The official investigation into the disappearance concluded: "It may truly be said that no more baffling problem has ever been presented.

"What happened in this case will never be known and the fate of Star Tiger must remain an unsolved mystery."

But there are a number of clues in the official accident report that reveal the Star Tiger had encountered problems before it reached the Azores.

The aircraft's heater was notoriously unreliable and had failed en route, and one of the compasses was found to be faulty.

Probably to keep the plane warmer, the pilot had decided to fly the whole transatlantic route very low, at 2,000 feet, burning fuel at a faster rate.

On approaching Bermuda, Star Tiger was a little off course and had been flying an hour later than planned.

In addition, the official Ministry of Civil Aviation report considered that the headwinds faced by Star Tiger may have been much stronger than those forecast. This would have caused the fuel to burn more quickly.

"Flying at 2,000 feet they would have used up much more fuel," said Eric Newton, one of the Ministry of Civil Aviation's most senior air accident investigators, who reviewed the scenario for the BBC.

"At 2,000 feet you'd be leaving very little altitude for manoeuvre. In any serious in-flight emergency they could have lost their height in seconds and gone into the sea."

Whatever happened to the plane, it was sudden and catastrophic - there was no time to send an emergency signal.

The Avro Tudor IV was a converted warplane that was eventually taken out of passenger service because of its poor safety record. Only BSAA continued to fly the aircraft.

Gordon Store was chief pilot and manager of operations at BSAA. In an interview with his local newspaper last November, he said he had no confidence in the Tudor's engines.

"Its systems were hopeless… all the hydraulics, the air-conditioning equipment and the recycling fans were crammed together underneath the floor without any thought. There were fuel-burning heaters that would never work," he said.

Second accident

Almost a year to the day after the disappearance of the Star Tiger, another Avro Tudor IV belonging to BSAA vanished between Bermuda and Jamaica.

Exactly one hour after departure from Bermuda on 17 January 1949, the pilot of the Star Ariel sent a routine communication of his position. But then the plane vanished without trace at 18,000 feet.

According to experts, this would have required a sudden catastrophe.

Again, no wreckage, debris or bodies were ever found.

Fuel starvation at that height was not plausible, the weather report had been good, and pilot error was ruled out.

The plane's poor design may well have been to blame, according to Don Mackintosh, a former BSAA Tudor IV pilot. The cabin heater mounted underneath the floor where the co-pilot sat is his prime suspect.

At the time, aircraft heater technology was still in its infancy.

"The heater bled aviation fuel on to a hot tube - and was also fairly close to the hydraulic pipes," he says.

A pressure switch should have allowed the heater to operate when it was in the air but it was unreliable and was often deliberately short-circuited by staff, allowing the pilot manual control.

The switch prevented inflammable fuel from flowing, but if the heater was switched on manually, gas that may have collected could have ignited.

Captain Peter Duffey, a former BSAA pilot who went on to become a captain of British Airways Concorde, also believes that the proximity of the heater and the hydraulic pipes was significant.

"My theory is that hydraulic vapour escaped from a leak, which got on to a hot heater and caused an explosion," he says.

Mr Newton's report came to a similar conclusion: "If the heater had caught fire down below the floorboards then it could have developed to a catastrophic state before the crew knew anything about it.

"There was no automatic fire extinguisher to put it out like there is nowadays. There was no alarm where the heater was stored… so no-one would know, possibly until it was too late."

The official accident investigation discovered that because of a communications error, search and rescue teams were not despatched until seven and a half hours later.

By then what was left of the plane and the bodies would have sunk.

The report on the disappearance of the first plane, the Star Tiger, said something which, because it could be easily misinterpreted, helped the accident achieve notoriety.

In a moment of philosophical conjecture, the investigators mused that maybe "some external cause may (have) overwhelm(ed) both man and machine".

Those comments from sober-suited British civil servants opened the floodgates for conspiracy theorists, hack journalists and mischief makers, adding to the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle.

UFO invades Indian town: Smoking gun video

Last year in August a UFO dropped in on the town of Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh, India, and the locals have the pics to prove it. Western media did not report the event at all and the incident went entirely unnoticed outside of India.

The UFO was seen at night by numerous residents, who managed to capture extra-ordinary footage (see two videos below). Many residents feared they were under alien attack and most believe to this day that the object was a extraterrestrial, alien flying saucer or 'Uden Shitri' in Hindi. The UFO circled the town for some time and then shot off.

Had there been no footage odds are the townspeople would have been told they saw a comet, plane, Venus or kite. They may even have been informed that they simply imagined the whole thing.

One such town in India was told that glowing orbs that shot lasers into their bodies, prompting what might have been the world's first UFO instigated riot, were in fact insects!

Luckily they got the video and at the very least the thing in it is not Venus or a Comet and probably no kite. If this is an insect many might ask: Where can I get one?

One can therefore say that it is a UFO or unidentified object in the truest sense of the word.

Ghost hunting woman falls to death at 'spooky' university building

TORONTO — The death of a woman who may have been looking for ghosts in a Gothic-style building where a professor was murdered several years ago is a tragedy that should serve as a warning to all thrill seekers, a paranormal investigator said Thursday.

Police were called after the 29-year-old woman fell several storeys during the early hours at the University of Toronto building.

"The general public has a lot of misperceptions," said Sue Durroch, co-founder of the Toronto Ghosts and Hauntings Research Society.

"Because of the Hollywood-ization of ghost stories and fictional ghost stories, people get these impressions that a spooky looking building must be haunted or if there's a tragedy associated with it, it must be haunted. Of course, that's absolutely incorrect."

Early in the day, Toronto police Sgt. Dave Vickers was reported as saying the woman and a 34-year-old male friend were in the building because they thought it was haunted.

Const. Wendy Drummond later refused to confirm any ghostly connections, saying only that the pair was trespassing and exploring the roof-top area.

The man crossed from one roof to the other, but a wire the woman was holding onto gave way and she plunged to her death, Drummond said.

In January 2001, 50-year-old artist and lecturer David Buller was found stabbed to death in his studio in the building at 1 Spadina Crescent.

The unsolved killing may have fed rumours that the building, erected in 1875, is visited by ghosts.

The building contains the University of Toronto's art department, office space, some classrooms as well as the Eye Bank of Canada.

"It's a regular U of T building," said university spokeswoman Laurie Stephens, adding the school was unaware anyone considered it haunted.

Ghost tours do take place at other university buildings but 1 Spadina Crescent is not among them, said Richard Fiennes-Clinton, a guide with Muddy York Walking Tours.

He said he had never been able to unearth ghost stories related to the structure but said he could understand why some might believe otherwise given the building's imposing style.

The ghost research society, which has had a website for almost 13 years, also said it had never had any reports or even queries related to paranormal activity at the building.

"Because it's kind of a Gothic looking building, maybe they were under the impression somehow it was haunted. It looks kind of eerie," Durroch said.

"You can enjoy ghosts and hauntings, you can do so safely without breaking any laws or trespassing. Thankfully, this is an isolated case in Canada but there have been several similar incidents in the United States where tragic circumstances were the outcome."

Fiennes-Clinton stressed there are safe and legal ways to explore supposedly haunted places.

The school said it appeared neither the man nor woman were students.

Police have called the woman's death "suspicious" but said they had no reason to suspect foul play. An autopsy and toxicology tests were pending.

They said they had no reason to release any names.

12-year-old snaps photo of UFO over Arizona neighborhood

A 12-year-old Arizona girl was getting the mail when she spotted a UFO hovering over her neighborhood street and snapped two images with her cell phone camera, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

The mother states that her daughter snapped the first photo where the object appears to hover above the street. In the second photo, the object is moving away and has tiled.

Following is the unedited report filed by the child's mother.

AZ, May 2009 - round squart object flat on bottom with thicker midsection and tapering top. MUFON Case # 19210.

My 12 year old daughter went to check the mail box and as she walked outside our house she witnessed floating above our street a round object not too far in the distance. she quickly grabbed her cell phone in her pocket and snapped off two photos.

This happened on a school day approximately around May 2009 around 430 to 530 pm. Sorry, I do not remember the exact dates.

What is interesting is she managed to capture the object as it tilted and moved off. You can see the landmarks of the houses and the trees to get a distance measurement and size approximation of the object.

She was very excited when she showed me the pictures. I think the whole event lasted only for a few seconds.
