Looks pretty cool doesnt it? It's an interactive Heads Up Display (HUD), with current time, date, weather info, network and disk usage statistics, functional media played controls, links to commonly used folders, programs, and websites, and more. I love the look and functionality of it. So much cooler than having icons cluttering up my desktoip.

To achieve this you need 2 things, rainmeter and a skin called jarvis. Rainmeter is available at: http://code.google.com/p/rainmeter/ and the jarvis skin can be found at: http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=jarvis+rainmeter+skin#/d36eee6

Once you download and install both of those, you can customize the skin by right-clicking different sections and going to variants, which will allow you to open up a .ini file where the variables are stores, so if you installed photoshop(for example) to a different directory than default, you can point the link to your installation. You can customize all the clickable links and point them to wherever you like.

Unfortunately the media player controls seem to only work with winamp, but i installed winamp just so that part of the HUD would work. It was worth it in my opinion. I might still do some more customizing on this later, but we'll see. Let me know what you think.

Blackbuntu

I recently installed a new operating system called Blackbuntu.

It's made for penetration testing(ethical hacking), and comes with a lot of really cool tools. I havent had too much time to play around with it yet but it looks pretty neat so far. The only problem is that for some reason it can't connect to my home network and every time i try it crashes. It can connect to other networks fine, like when i wifi tether my phone, but when i connect to my normal network with WPA encryption it crashes.

Aside from that glitch though, the list of tools it comes with is quite impressive and i look forward to playing around with them in the future. It comes loaded with a bunch of stuff for info gathering, network mapping, vulnerability identification, penetration, privilege escalation, maintaining access, radio network analyses, voip analysis, digital forensics, reverse engineering, and more. Thats a lot of hacker tools!

Unfortunately if I can't resolve the network issue i may not get to use them and might have to switch to a similar disto like backtrack or something. Anybody have any experience with pen-testing distros, any recommendations? I like that blackbuntu is built on ubuntu which i've heard is easy to learn and has good hardware compatibility. Blackbuntu recognized my wifi card and most other hardware just fine and didn't take much effort to set up.

I recently signed up for the latest social network, Google+. Right now it isn't open to the public so you need an invite to get in on it. I must say it looks like a facebook killer to me. I haent had much time to play around with it but so far I like the way it's set up and some of the cool features.

I'm posting this from my phone right now but in the future I'll probably do a more in-depth review with screenshots.

It allows you to put people in different groups, called circles. Then when you post something you get to choose which circles can see it. So you can still have your family or your boss as a friend but you don't have to share everything with them.

There are some other neat features as well but I haven't really tested them all out yet. It allows for the creation of virtual hangouts using your webcam and then any friends who join you in the virtual hangout can videochat with the other people there. So that seems pretty cool to me.

I just wanted to take the time to post something here since I've been too busy to write anything lately. I'll try to write some more later or tomorrow if I can. Thanks for reading.

FaceNiff

This is going on both of the blogs I can post on.

I just found this really cool app for android phones called faceniff. Basically what it does is monitor a network and whenever somebody logs in to facebook, twitter, youtube, or possibly other services, the app captures their cookie and makes it your own, so you get access to their account. It can hijack a session even over an encrypted network whether its WEP WPA or even WPA2! I tested it out and it worked great. The free app gives you 3 session hijacks to start with and if you want more there's an option to buy an unlock code. Or you can just use the cracked version found here: FaceNiff 1.9.4 cracked

Root is required for this app so if you don't have a rooted phone you'll have to do that first. To unlock the app go to the unlock screen, don't put in any text and click unlock. Voila, unlocked.

Very simple interface to use, you click a big red button and it turns green and then you can check to see if it's captured anybody's sessions and when you click on their name it will open in the web browser and you'll be logged in. Could be really fun at starbucks. Like a mobile firesheep hack, but no laptop required now.

BTW if the person is using SSL then this won't work, so if you wanna protect yourself turn on SSL I guess.

How to Make Moonshine

It takes time and practice before you can whip up a good batch of moonshine that will be safe enough to drink, but making your own alcohol is one of the most enjoyable ways of breaking the law so here's how you do it.

Step 1, Mash
Buy 5lbs of cornmeal and make a mash by adding 20 gallons of boiling water and 20lbs of sugar. When the mash has cooled to "warm" add 1.5oz of yeast. Put this in a warm place for about 3 days to ferment (or until the mash stops bubbling). After this, the mash will be converted to carbonic acid and alcohol, called "sour mash".

Step 2, Distillation
Distill your mash by heating to 173 degrees F. in a copper moonshine still. At this temp. the alcohol(ethanol) rises to the top of the still and travels to the cooling part where it condenses and can be collected. It will be a transparent liquid the colour of dark beer.

Step 3, Singlings
The first liquid to condense will contain volatile oils and should be discarded but after that the liquid can be collected in glass jars called "singlings". The liquid from the end of the run is referred to as "low wine" and is onle about 10% alcohol so you should add this back to the mash and distill again. Stop distilling when a tablespoon of low wine thrown on a naked flame won't burn.

Step 4, Distill Again, and Again
Empty the mash. The ethanol collected in the first singlings will have the highest prof, and the proof level drops progressively after that. All of your singlings will need to be distilled one or two more times to get rid of any impurities. After three distillations, some of your singlings should contain ethanol up to 150 proof. That's 75% alcohol.

Returning to blogging

Well, since moving back to Florida my life has been incredibly chaotic and I just haven't had any time to write a blog or keep up with any of the blogs I follow. This explains my lengthy absence and lack of new posts. Also, I've had a terrible bout of writers block and just couldn't think of anything to post on here.

But now I'm getting settled in and used to being back home and I think I'll have enough time to start posting again so I hope some people will decide to come back to following me. I've come up with some ideas to write about and we'll see how it goes.

My posts might be shorter and formatted more poorly than in the past because many of them may be written from my phone. For example this post is done using the blogger app on my samsung epic. I figure if my life is overly hectic, I can at least take the time to draft a few paragraphs every day from my phone even if I can't sit down at my laptop and do things right.

As for following other people, I may not always have time to comment on all the blogs I follow, but I should be able to read each of yours daily and check out articles and links even if I don't always comment.

I spent 12 hours with this view today:

When on a long trip, like moving from texas to florida, I get behind trucks and stay there. Better aerodynamics = better gas mileage. So I spent the first 12 hour part of the trip looking at the back of a truck. I considered doing the whole 24 hour drive all at once, but then my contacts started bothering me and I decided to stop for the night. Got another 12-14hours of driving tomorrow...fun...

It wasn't all bad though...Bayou des Glaises during the gloaming: absolutely beautiful, but due to the low light I didn't try to capture a pic for you guys. Sorry.

Well I moved out of Corpus Christi today, finally. There were a few delays, but I worked everything out and I'm glad to be out of there. Still in Texas for now, staying at my mom's place for a little bit. She lives in the middle of nowhere and I kind of like it out here. A bit hard to get internet access but I managed to wifi tether my phone with like a one bar signal.

Sorry to the person who asked for pics of my stuff in the comments on my last post, it's all packed up now, so you'd just see a couple pieces of luggage and boxes. I'm tired after the long drive up here, so thats all I'm going to say for now. I'll do the rounds of checking people's blogs who commented and then I'm going to crawl into a mouse hole and pass out. :)

Well, all my stuff is packed. I thought i was going to get out of here today, but it looks like i won't hit the road until tomorrow. I'm going to go stay with somebody for a few days before i leave texas and set up a rental car. I don't have much stuff to move so it should all fit in a car without a problem. Not too much else to say right now, but I did say I'd start trying to get back to being more active on the blog.

I guess I should get back to blogging.

I feel like I've taken a long enough break and probably lost some followers for it, but I'm back now and I'll try to start updating regularly again. I've been very busy, very stressed, and not feeling very well, but things are looking up. I'll be moving back to Florida very soon and I'm excited about that. It'll be nice to go home after a few rough years in Texas.

Anybody have any experience moving cross country? I don't have much stuff to transport but I was thinking a rental car/van/truck, might be better than a uhaul type of vehicle. I could use some tips or suggestions from anybody who still reads this.

How To Make Money From Inflation

Inflation is a phenomenon that occurs when extra money is created - either printed or blipped into existence. When the supply of money is inflated, the price of everything rises. It's hard to see how this kind of phenomenon can be taken advantage of, but there are many ways. One way that I know of is called the debtor's method.

It begins by taking out a loan from a company. Many credit card companies will offer you at least one year at zero percent interest. But even if you have an interest term stated, so long as the inflation rate is higher than your interest rate, you can still make money. After a year goes by, the effects of last year's inflation have struck, which means all products in the supermarket isles are more expensive. So the amount that you have to pay back, which is numerically equal to the amount you had borrowed, will only buy, for example, 70 cups of coffee instead of 100 cups.

Suppose that hyperinflation strikes your currency, and that your creditor just loaned you $1,000 at 7% interest. Suppose that your government then prints up 50% more money than was in existence last year, inflating the currency by 50%. A year later you will have to pay back $1,070, but the value of your original $1,000 has shot up to $1,500 just because of the hyperinflation that occurred. And you only paid back $1,070 of that $1,500, scoring you $430 worth of purchasing power to spend during that year of the loan.

If the $1,000 lent to you would buy you 1,000 cups of coffee, but a year later will only buy 800 cups of coffee, then by the time you pay back the principle, you will have had 200 free cups of coffee bought for you. Your creditor would have bought them for you. To make this work you should hold onto your money in gold instead of fiat bills. That way, your ounce of gold will go from $1,000 to $1,500, and when you sell the gold you will get $430 actual dollar bills into your pocket before you pay back the $1,070.

The more a government inflates its currency, the better this method will work for you. Don't be on the ass-end of inflation - be on the top of the pyramid. Hold your money in gold to protect your purchasing power from being siphoned over to the printers of fiat currency, and use the debtor's method to actually make free money whenever your currency is inflated. If we all did this, there would be no point to printing more money, and inflation would end - a much brighter future for everyone.

How to make C-1

Because I can't think of a good topic to write about, I was thinking maybe an insane one would suffice.

Seriously, you probably don't want to try this at home and if you do please be careful and make sure it's legal where you live. I don't know the laws in your particular area but I guess this could have some legal uses in demolition work or something. I'm just sharing a recipe and should not be held liable if you do something stupid with it. Also, this stuff is crazy powerful and if you don't understand the instructions, in any way, don't mess with it. You could kill yourself.

Ok, now that the disclaimer is out of the way...I was sitting around with writer's block and thought I should maybe just go back to what I originally started out blogging about. Crazy ideas, improvised weapons, and kitchen chemistry. LOL :)

Without further ado (or adon't) let me break it down for you:
C-1 is 150%more powerful than T.N.T.
C-1 is 10% more powerful than C-4
It expands at a rate of 8850 meters per second when compressed into a cube at a density of 1.55g/cubic cm

What you'll need:
Ice
Table Salt
Distilled Water
Concentrated Nitric Acid - 550mls
Hexamine - 50grams (hexamine can be found in compressed fuel tablets in sporting goods stores)
Ammonium Nitrate (optional)

Equipment:
Blue Litmus Paper
Centigrade Thermometer
Large Beaker
Glass Stirring Rod
Funnel & Filter Paper
Ice Bath Container

Step by Step Procedure:
1. Place beaker in an ice bath and carefully add in the 550ml of nitric acid
2. Grind the fuel tablets into a fine powder
3. When the acid cools to below 20 degrees centigrade, CAREFULLY begin adding in SMALL amounts of the crushed hexamine fuel tablets. Stir. The temp will rise and must be kept below 30 degrees centigrade or KABOOM! And if you get killed who would follow my blog?
4. Drop the temp to below 0. You can do this by adding salt to the old ice bath, creating a new ice bath, or adding ammonium nitrate to the old ice bath.
5. Continue stirring for at least 20 minutes while keeping the temp below 0.
6. Pour the mixture into a liter of crushed ice. Shake, Stir, and allow to melt. Once melted, filter out the crystals and dispose of the liquid.
7. Place crystals into a half liter of boiling water. Then filter them out and test their acidity with the litmus paper. Repeat this step until the litmus paper doesn't change colour anymore, meaning you have boiled off all of the excess acid.
8. To make the plasticizer mix by weight: 88.8% RDX (the crystals), 11.4% mineral oil, and 0.6% lecithin. It's also possible that vaseline and wax in a 5 to 1 ratio could work for this.

That's really all there is to it. It should be noted that you'll need an explosion to detonate this stuff and a fulminate would work well. I would suggest checking out my earlier post titled ANTI for more info about that.

I'm almost a little hesitant to publish this post but I firmly believe in freedom of information, as well as the right to defend yourself in the coming zombie apocalypse, and besides, I'm pretty sure most people who would misuse explosives already know how to make them.

Some Useful Effects

People like me to post blog tips so here's a couple I picked up recently.

First things first, I'll give credit where it's due. The first tip was posted by G on his blog which is one of my personal favorites that I follow. You can find it at this link: Bar Science

The second tip I'm reposting for my readers comes from mac-and-me whose blog can be found here: mac-and-i

Okay, down to business. First effect is for semi-transparent backgrounds on your posts and sidebar. I love the way this worked out, so thanks G. First go to the Design tab and click template designer.

Next go to Advanced and scroll down to Add CSS. Paste in the code(found below), and hit apply.

The code to copy and paste is:

Ok, now for everybody who already follows G and knows about that already, heres another tip. Instead of having your pictures on your blog open up in the current tab and taking you away from the post, this mod allows you to add a lightbox script. If you don't know what i mean, click on one of my pictures in this post and you should notice the effect.

To achieve this go to the Design Tab, then Edit HTML.

Hit ctrl+F and search for /head. Paste in the code(found below) just before the </head> tag.

A neat new gadget.

Well this is kind of neat. I found a chat gadget for my blog that will send any messages you type into it directly to my instant messenger account.

So if anybody wants to talk to me, just use that gadget over there in the sidebar and i'll get it as an im on my computer or if i'm not at home, it should go through to my phone and i can reply from there. Seems kind of neat, so feel free to say hi sometime.

To add this to your blog go over to http://www.plugoo.com/ and sign up. It's free and doesn't take very long. It works with several different im networks so you can pick which one you want.

Log in, click on my widgets and copy the HTML at the bottom:

Then pop over to your blog and go to the Design tab and click Add a Gadget

Scroll down until you get to this one:

Name it, paste in the code you copied earlier, and hit save.

You should now have your very own chat gadget that will send messages to an im service. I can't imagine this will be good for everybody since some people might not want to be bothered, but I think it's kind of neat since I'm always signed onto instant messenger anyway.

Feel free to test it out if you want.

I think this post came out pretty good considering 10 minutes ago I was so stuck for a topic that I almost posted instructions for making ricin tipped bullets out of hollow points...Much less likely to get in trouble talking about blog gadgets. :)

No Regrets

So I was walking home from the store earlier and a car sped by driving sort of recklessly. It made me think what if he hit me, and I died tonight. My next thought was, wow I would really regret not dismounting one of my hard drives before I left the house. That was it. I actually think I'd be totally okay with dieing randomly if I'd dismounted my hard drive first. No other serious regrets in life.

So I'm curious, if you were to die tonight, would you be satisfied with your life? Is there something you wish you'd done but never got around to it? What, if anything, would you regret doing or not doing?

It's pretty easy to make napalm, here's how.

Because I don't know what else to write about and it was between this and autoerotic asphyxiation.

Supplies you'll need:
Frozen orange juice concentrate (a subtle nod to fight club)
Gasoline
Styrofoam (packing peanuts recommended)
A little motor oil if you want.
An empty container (gas can, bucket, bottle, depends how much you plan to make)

Instructions:
Fill container about halfway with gasoline, start adding styrofoam, which will dissolve into the gasoline. Keep feeding in the styrofoam packing peanuts, and you can stir or shake it to help them dissolve, until you get a nice thick sticky consistency like syrup. If it gets too thick, stir in a splash of motor oil to thin it out a bit. Then make yourself a glass of orange juice and test a small batch by lighting it and flinging a spoon-full of it at a wall or something. It should stick to your target and burn slowly. Good stuff. Pretty sure it's not terribly illegal to make this stuff as long as you don't use it for anything illegal. So have fun with it and stay out of trouble.

Busy Schedule.

I've been unbelievably busy this week and it doesn't look like tomorrow will be any better. This is why my posts have been crappy lately. I got a few jobs to go to, and then some other problems to deal with that I don't like to talk about on my blog. So I apologize if I haven't been following everybody's blogs as closely as often as I'd like to. Work should slow back down in a couple of days and I'll get back to the usual routine though. In the mean time I'll leave you with some work related humor.

When you have an "I hate my job" day try this:

On your way home from work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the
thermometer section. You will need to purchase a rectal thermometer
made by "Q-tip." Be very sure that you get this brand. When you get
home, lock your doors, draw the drapes and disconnect the phone so you
will not be disturbed during your therapy. Change to very comfortable
clothing, such as a sweat suit and lie down on your bed. Open the
package and remove the thermometer.

Carefully place it on the bedside table so that it will not
become chipped or broken. Take out the written material that
accompanies the thermometer and read it. You will notice that in small print there is a statement:

"Every rectal thermometer made by Q-tip is personally tested."
Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times,
"I am so glad I do not work in quality control at the Q-tip Company."

Work vs Prison

IN PRISON... you spend the majority of your time in an 8X10 cell.
AT WORK... you spend the majority of your time in a 6X8 cubicle.

IN PRISON... you get three meals a day.
AT WORK... you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON... you get time off for good behavior.
AT WORK... you get more work for good behavior.

IN PRISON... the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.
AT WORK... you must carry around a security card and open all the doors for yourself.

IN PRISON... you can watch TV and play games.
AT WORK... you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON... you get your own toilet.
AT WORK... you have to share with some idiot who pees on the seat.

IN PRISON...they allow your family and friends to visit.
AT WORK...you can't even speak to your family.

IN PRISON... all expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required
AT WORK... you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON... you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out.
AT WORK... you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.

IN PRISON... you must deal with sadistic wardens.
AT WORK... they are called managers.

So why is it, again, that we work?
