You heard me right. I am going to restart my thoughts, opinions, and positions on the beloved Cincinnati Bengals with an article about Bernard Scott. Here on the little known (at all) Another Bengals Page!!

I hope to challenge some other passionate Bengals warriors to begin chiming in with their opinions and latest news, as well. But until then, it shall be the bored, divorced dad of three Bengal loving kids.

Back to my point. The Bengals should resign Bernard Scott. Why would I say such a thing. Well, as a backup Scott has produced 1,000 yards rushing in his first three years as a Bengal. Getting very minimal snaps and still averaging a little over 4 yards a carry. As a rookie, he only became the first rookie since Corey Dillon to produce a 100 yard game. And the only back since Corey Dillon to rock off a 60+ yard run. Scott has attempted 255 rushes in his four year career with Bengals and has only fumbled twice. Then his kick return skills would be more than enough to see him back. In his first three years, he averaged over that span 26.6 per return. That is better than Tate's 24.8 last year.

If anything, bring him back on a one year contract. We are in desperate need of a second level, break it to the outside back. If I watch Ben Jarvis Green run into the back of our offensive line one more time I may claw my eyes out. I know we will address this need in the draft since we did not pursue any of the free agent running backs on the market. But someone will take that one year chance on Scott and I truly believe it needs to be the Stripes. If he doesn't pan out we are truly not out anything.

Several players have come back from ACL injuries and have had successful years. I would just hate if we let him go to another team and we have to watch him put up numbers for someone other than the Black and Orange. Are we not the team of "Second Chance" Players?!?

Ocho Cinco to try "Bull Riding"??

Latest tweets have revealed the next stunt by the infamous Ocho Cinco. There is no football, so what the heck!

The Professional Bull Riders organization has challenged Ochocinco to hop on the back of one of the 1,700 pound bucking bulls at the Lucas Oil Invitational this weekend at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA. The happening is another product of the Twitter phenomenon, with the PBR throwing down the gaunlet after some tweets by Ochocinco about a showdown with PBR star Valdiron de Oliveira. Sean Gleason, chief operating officer of the PBR, responded to the mock-bravado by extending the challenge.

Ocho Cinco will make $10K for getting on the bull and a new Ford F-150 and the opportunity to name the bull if he can last the whole 8 seconds.

I am pretty sure Ocho Cinco can buy his own F-150, buy his own bull, and pretty sure he is still making money through his tv show, reebok, and football. What the heck is he doing? Does he not know that he pretty much can get killed? I guess he really is done with the Bengals. They won't have to release or trade him. He will pretty much put himself out of commission.

The question is will PBR put him on a calf or pick out the meanest fricking bull in the pen? Either way, I want the video and I will watch it over and over again laughing my butt off!!

The Cincinnati Bengals have finished up their weekend with 8 new draftees that will attempt to join the team this upcoming "if there is a 2011 season". The Bengals have added some starting potential and great depth. We have compiled some grades from across the internet, as well as our own, for what the Bengals have accomplished.

#1 A.J. Green WR, University of Georgia
A.J. Green was the obvious and most "MOCKED" pick of the draft for the Bengals. Green will bring what Gruden and Mortenson has stated, "the best offensive player in the draft." Yahoo has compared him to the likes of Larry Fitzgerald. This means so long, Ocho Cinco and GO GREEN. Green has the size, 6'4", and athleticism to wow fans next year. There are not many first year receivers that make a large impact on a team. Even Dez Bryant for the Dallas Cowboys had his growing pains and injuries last year. But this kid definitely has the stuff to be a long time Pro Bowl player. Can't wait to see him in stripes!

#2 Andy Dalton QB, TCU

Andy Dalton, small 6'2" and 220 pounds fiery red head quarterback from TCU. Word from ESPN, Adam Schefter was that Brown and ownership wanted Mallett and Gruden and Lewis wanted Dalton. Coaches 1, Ownership 0. Now that never happens, does it? Did Lewis want Chris Henry, God rest his soul, or did Brown force him to play him? Chris Henry was an exceptional athlete. We personally liked watching the Carson Palmer to Chris Henry 50 yard connection. So if Jay Gruden wanted him, I want him. Have you seen Gruden's track record? Dalton can run the west coast offense, his arm strength is not what it should be. He is a fiery leader, Carson is not. Everything seems to be changing on the field for the Bengals. So let's chalk this up to, change is good!

#3 Dontay Moch LB, Nevada

"He has freakish talent," Nevada defensive coordinator Andy Buh said. When he puts his mind to it, he's unstoppable."^[6] At the 2011 NFL Combine, Moch ran a 4.44 sec 40-yard dash, best among all linebackers and defensive linemen.^[7]

Moch is a freak of nature. Raw athlete. Thank God, Mike Zimmer gets a hold of him. Zimmer should mold this guy into a freaking unreal NFL talent. He is 6'1'' 245 pounds and a motor that doesn't quit.

#4 Clint Boling OG, University of Georgia

The 21-year-old Boling played as a true freshman, starting 11 games in 2007, 12 in 2008 and 13 in 2009. Boling has played guard, right tackle and six games at left tackle in 2009. He will play left tackle this season. Boling is a good athlete, who played tight end at one point in high school. He runs well and is a smart, young player.

Boling was NFL.com top 5 offensive linemen in the 2011 NFL Draft. This is a key pickup. Carson Palmer is holding himself hostage in California because he is safe. Last year, behind the line he was not. The Bengals truly need to address the line issues this year and this is a great start!! The Bengals really did steal him. The three of the four guys ranked above him went in the first round. Boling can play LG or anywhere on the line. Hopefully, he will protect whoever will be at Quarterback next year and keep them upright.

#5 Robert Sands S, West Virginia University

Former Bengal, John Thornton stated that he has the ability to start next season. Some say he was a reach. Either way Sands was a productive Safety for West Virginia. Chris Crocker, Roy Williams, and even Ndukwe is always injured. The depth alone is worth the pick.

Sands is a tall, rangy, high-cut safety. Speed is better than average. Covers a lot of ground after reaching top speed. Can play the point or deep half. Huge catch radius and good hands to pull down the tough interception. Willing, aggressive and productive in run support and coverage over the middle. Sure-tackler. Displays solid awareness.

Ryan Whalen, Korey Lindsey, and Jay Finley franklin will get cut or possibly make the practice squad. So we are not even going to expound. I think the Lindsey pick was a reach, Whalen, really? I mean, once Ocho and T.O. exit stage left there is still a barn full of receivers. Lindsey has been said to be the one of the three that might have a shot. I have even read that he may be a replacement if they lose Joseph. Not sure I see that happening. I see Joseph back or the Bengals would have had more urgency earlier in the draft to pick up a CB.

They selected the best athlete on the board. Chris Mortenson and Jon Gruden are calling Green the best offensive guy in the draft. So the last time I checked they watch a whole lot more film than I do. Until the next round...

Image via WikipediaCountdown is over, anticipation is dwindling down, and the Bengals will be on the clock later this evening for the 2011 NFL Draft. I have to admit I get somewhat excited about the draft. It isn't the season, it is not worth getting all jacked up about, but yet there is a bit of anticipation that all football fans experience when they are glued to their television.

Maybe, it is just the idea of which next star is their team going to pick in the 1st and 2nd round. Or it could be what will they do with their pick to better their team? For us Bengal fans, I think the excitement and anticipation is the curiosity of what in the name of all that is holy will they do this year. This year is definitely unique. Their needs are all over the map and the glaring holes are obvious. The QB situation is a must in the draft. Is it Gabbert or Newton, if they are there in the 1st? Or do they wait and get a Ponder or Dalton in the 2nd? Is the obvious choice all along A.J. Green going to be taken? And we firmly do not buy into the trading down scenario. Read our post about that. (Bengals will NEVER trade down....and NEVER have...)

So the anticipation that will build through the day will only get stronger before draft starts tonight!!!

Seriously, though the last few years have not been to terrible outside of the Andre Smith pick. The Bengals have selected 3 formidable starters in the first two rounds. But it is the Bengals and the chance of picking another Andre Smith is always there.

2010

1st: Jermaine Gresham (52 Receptions Franchise Rookie Record, Targeted 83 times, 471 yards (9 yards a catch), and 4 TD's

2nd: Carlos Dunlap (24 Tackles and led team in sacks with 9.5) And that is missing 4 games.

2011

1st: Andre Smith (Verdict is still out)

2nd: Rey Maualuga (2010 75 tackles, 1 sack, 2 INT)

Image via WikipediaOkay, I am tired getting ready to go to bed. I thought I would have one more good post in me. Sitting here watching my Twitter threads and seeing all the speculation. I was curious, have the Bengals ever traded down and picked up more picks. So far, in just very little research, I have concluded they NEVER have. The Bengals are not the New England Patriots nor the New England Chiefs.

The only blockbuster trade that I saw in searching was this piece of crap in 1985...

The Bengals made a blockbuster trade in this draft, sending their first (overall pick number five) and second round (overall pick number 36) picks to the expansion Carolina Panthers for the first overall selection, which the Bengals used to select star Penn State running back Ki-Jana Carter. Unfortunately for the Bengals, Carter suffered a very serious knee injury in his first preseason game and never fulfilled the potential he showed in college.

This is opposite of what everyone is hoping and dreaming. Joe Reedy and CincyGab.com have posted that the Texans will be a good trade partner. Now CincyJungle.com is reporting that the Falcons are trying to get in the top 10 and they will be a good trade partner. Speculation, Dreaming, and Hoping isn't going to change that Mike Brown will not show that kind of fortitude.

Cincinnati does not have enough scouts or enough intelligence to make this happen. I would love it, everyone would love it, but simple fact is...it has never happened and will not happen this year!

We need to sit back and watch them pick A.J. Green. Waste the chance to pick up extra picks and get Julio Jones later or even Andy Dalton or Christian Ponder. Or get this maybe even BOTH!

I do agree with CincyJungle.com and that is we are looking forward to a .500 year and a MAJOR rebuilding year. So now I will go to sleep and dream that the Bengals will be the 2010 Chiefs and get a bunch of picks,draft some young exciting stud athletes, and actually squeak into playoffs. Then wake up and realize where we live.

In addition...here is another weird trade they made that sorta worked out...

Thirty-four years ago Cincinnati traded the best Bengal defensive player ever, MLB Bill Bergey, to the Eagles for two first-round picks and one second. Bergey went on the become the highest paid defensive player in NFL history; set the NFL record for interceptions by a LB; record 233 tackles in one 14 game season; be selected All-Pro 4 times; and be voted Eagles team MVP 3 times.

However the trade worked out pretty well for the Bengals also. The two first round picks were used on DT Eddie Edwards and DE Ross Browner, two members of the famous W.E.B.B. defensive line that led the bengasl to the Super Bowl in 1981.

The strangest thing about this trade was that it happened in 1974, but the Bengals didn't get the picks until 1977 and 1978. I don't think there has ever been another trade quite like it in NFL history.

I do not think Chad Ocho Cinco is having a very good night. Look at the latest from #85. Even he believes his time is done in Cincinnati. Many people suspect that Chad will not be in stripes next year. But we are dealing with Cincinnati. They brought in T.O. last year. I have nothing against Ocho. He seems to train hard, not afraid of doing his thing, and he is an entertainer. Something the NFL is missing but penalizes. Whether he stays or goes I wish Chad well. I just hope both sides make a wise decision. But not sure if I remember a wise decision from front office recently. So let's just sit back, grab our popcorn, and enjoy the SHOW!!

Image via WikipediaMy favorite site by far the past few years is CincyJungle.com. I have to give them props because they are hosting an NFL draft party in Cincinnati!! This will be their first ever party and I am sure it will be out of control! Here are a few details of where they will be!!

The event is going to take place at Willie's Sports Cafe on Glencrossing Way. We'll be surrounded by 24 TVs and the folks at Willie's were gracious enough to offer us drink specials ($2.75 24oz domestic) and food specials (half price appetizers). The actual draft doesn't start until 8 p.m. but the event will start at 6:30 p.m. Why so early, you ask? We're starting an hour and a half early so I can give you stuff.

A.J. Green @ #4?

The Cincinnati Bengals are creeping up to the draft and there isn't a soul in the world that knows who they are going to pick. The consensus pick is University of Georgia's A.J. Green. But I don't even think the Bengals know who they are going to go after.

Chris Mortenson reported on 700 WLW, that A.J. Green was the best athlete in the draft and will quickly become one of the top 4 or 5 wide receivers in the NFL. But the problem lies in here. Most reports are almost pleading with Mike Brown, TAKE A QUARTERBACK!! Experts are saying that Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert will be there at #4. And they go on to say the Bengals need to take one of them.

Why? Well, they all agree with the rest of Cincinnati, PALMER IS DONE!! I am not totally sold on either one of these quarterbacks. It scares the ba-jesus out of me to think they are going to attempt to take another quarterback. Please see David Klingler and Akili Smith. I mean Carson, though I dawn his jersey, and have truly enjoyed his character and ability has not panned out as that top tier first round draft pick.
