McCaskill Says Missouri Comes First

People at home come first. Their needs and the needs of my state come first. There are matters of principle that I believe in that I will vote on. But all of those, I have always been very upfront about. And when people in Missouri elected me they knew that. So as long as I’m clear about my principles, and as long as I am thinking about Missourians first, I think that’s how you strike the right balance.

Pascrell Pushes Recycling

Pascrell: Well the listener who recommended that knows what they’re talking about. I’ve been fighting for years now get us to recycle our plastic products. Because the less we put into the ground environmentally we’re better off and it becomes more effectives and efficient. So you better tell your listeners to stay on track. I believe in that. There’s legislation - I haven’t put together, but there’s legislation pending about dealing with plastics in recycling because you know right now you know you put things in a separate vessel in order to put out front, which is great, I think anything we can take out of landfills, and we should be shutting them down instead of increasing our landfills… tell that listener they’re doing a good job. Reporter: What about the electronic issue? You hear about in China and other poor countries where children are making a few cents a day taking apart these hazardous materials? Pascrell: They’re valuable and they can be used in other electronic devices and we’re going to use – why waste the equipment? Most of the life span of most of these electronic devices are not that old. So we should be utilizing them and putting them back into the economy.
