Matt 1:1 states: “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: “ NKJV
And Matt 1:18-21 says: Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. NKJV
Now my question is, if Math 1 gives us the genealogy of Jesus through Joseph, and His is the literal son of David, and son of Abraham, And if this genealogy is intended to show that Jesus has the right to site on David’s thrown. Then how can the ‘virgin birth’ be true? Math 1:18-21 makes it plain that Jesus father was not Joseph! Thus the genealogy of Joseph is meaningless because the true father of Jesus is the Holy Spirit. And if the Holy Spirit is the father of Jesus, Joseph cannot be! It is not possible that Jesus is the son of Joseph, and the Son of the Holy Spirit at the same time! Would you please explain this?

I recently recently left a church that was starting to teach spiritual formation… in fact they named a pastor of formation… I had several discussions with the senior pastor who claimed that it is just a “tool” for growth.

If God tells us to forgive each other repeatedly, why was the cross necessary for Him to forgive us? I know repentance is necessary and I know it comes down to “The wages of sin are death” but, WHY are the wages of sin death? Is it because God is just? Is it because of his goodness, that we can’t live in His presence with sin? If someone were to ask me this question, I don’t have a good answer. This is also something that Brian MacLaren says about the cross – that its not necessary for forgiveness.

	* Where did Jesus go after he died?
	* If God tells us to forgive each other repeatedly, why was the cross necessary for Him to forgive us? I know repentance is necessary and I know it comes down to "The wages of sin are death" but, WHY are the wages of sin death? Is it because God is just? Is it because of his goodness, that we can't live in His presence with sin? If someone were to ask me this question, I don't have a good answer. This is also something that Brian MacLaren says about the cross - that its not necessary for forgiveness.
