Two blocks later we stopped for a red light. He was looking down at the money, and I saw my chance. I opened my door, jumped out of the car, and ran. I ran up to the nearest house, and they let me in. Luckily, the kidnappers did not follow me. They just drove off."

"Let's follow your route back to the bank and see if we can find any clues," said Mr. Stanwick.

They left the house in Mr. Stanwick's car. Soon Pennyroll shouted, "There it is! There's the money bag!" They stopped and picked up the empty bank bag and continued on towards the bank. In a few minutes they came to a light. "This is where I escaped," said Pennyroll.

After getting back to the bank, Mr. Stanwick said, "I have a problem with your story."

3. You might think the Sewtnof parents would stop having kids once they had a boy, but no, they went on to have one more child.
4. Being the host doesn't automatically ensure timeliness; also, the gardener was a very early riser, allowing her plenty of time to ruin one item, & successfully prepare another on time.
5. Sad she burnt her buns, Emily's sister was extra careful to make sure her cranberry sauce turned out okay.
6. The sister who didn't make stuffing hosted the dinner, because she's the only one with a big enough table. Johanna, her younger sister, was not the host.
7. What a day for Ali's little sister! Not only did her stuffing take forever to come out right, but she had to run to the store at the last minute to ensure her pie had fruit in it!
8. Rosie, who was not the youngest, was not the family gardener who grew main ingredients for both of her food attempts.
9. When the first arrival showed with pumpkin pie, the host was still in the shower because she had overslept.
10. The middle child was late because her boyfriend argued that he didn't feel like driving.
11. Jacob did not stop at the store; Ali didn't attempt to cook green beans, but the person who did, also ruined her gravy.

In fact, there are many techniques used to devise cryptographic mind teasers. Today, we will be looking at a cryptographic technique known as caesar’s box. It is named a Caesar’s box after Julius Caesar, the man who first used the technique

The fist thing you do when you have a short-looking puzzle that you cannot solve by letter/number substitution is to count the number of letters. If the number of letters is a square number, then you probably have a caesar’s box. For example, the code:
G T Y O R J O T E O U I A B G T has 16 letters (4 squared). Divide the line into the number you square to get the number of letters in the mind teaser. For example, the above code will divide into

Next, write it out in X rows of X letter where X is the number you square.

You can do this, as long as the number of letters is a square number (the reason for the ‘Box’ in the name Caesar’s Box)

Mind illusions are a funny thing. Sometimes somebody sees one thing, somebody else sees another. A mind that can see things laterally may or may not be able to see both. You can’t answer mind illusions. They are designed to tease your mind and distort your perception. Optical illusions rely on your eyes to tease you mind. There are two types of optical illusions. One of these has two ways of looking at the same picture, the other has a way of making the impossible look possible, although your mind does get tricked.
