At the ring of rusted iron, the party waits until the light fades to allow the Vampiric Humming Spiders to leave the field of Bloodflowers to nest overnight in the black, skeletal tree and investigate what waits within the rusted metal. Once in the center, they find a rusted iron hatch which nearly stymies their efforts but they are able to descend to discover what lies below.

The heroes set of from the Porcelain Citadel to investigate a rusted metal ring to find the lost Boko Celestini and his locked chest which must be left unopened. Some of their water supplies are polluted with cinder animalcules and they avoid an encampment of degenerate humans but they make it to the ring of rusted iron and discover the local flora and fauna.

The heroes continue their journey along the High Road and the Low to reach the Porcelain Citadel and encounter a pack of feral steppe hounds on the way. Once they arrive, they find work for the hard-eyed, genial Teljean de Barbier of the House of Many Colors to venture to a nearby ring of rusted iron and investigate the disappearance of Boko Celestini.
