Köprülü Canyon National Park is a canyon and a National Park in the Province of Antalya, Turkey. Covering an area of 366 km² (141 sq mi), it was established as a national park by the Ministry of Forest on December 12, 1973. The canyon is 400 m (1,300 ft) deep in some places and stretches for 14 km (8.7 mi) along the Köprü River. At the resting area, there are fish restaurants offering delicious food especially fresh trout. The Roman Oluklu Bridge (Olukluköprü) over the canyon and the Bugrum Bridge over the Kocadere stream were engineering feats of their time.

Altınbeşik Cave National Park is a horizontal and partly active cave system, and its name comes from the Altinbesik Hill, on the upper side of the cave. This region of the Taurus Mountains has a very complex geological and geomorphologic structure with geological overlaps, large twists and deep valleys.

Termessos National Park constitutes an unusual synthesis of a large number of rare plants and animal species, which are under protection in the Termessos National Park. Concealed by a multitude of wild plants and bounded by dense pine forests, the site, with its peaceful and untouched appearance, has a more distinct and impressive atmosphere than other ancient cities. Because of its natural and historical riches, the city has been included in a National Park bearing its name. Termesos is one of the best preserved of the ancient cities of Turkey. you can see very rare the Caracal and Anatolian Lynx only in this national park.

Karain Cave is a cave and a Paleolithic archaeological site located at Yağca village 27 km northwest of Antalya city in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. Karain is a prehistoric cave, situated at a height of about 370 m from the sea and about 80 m up the slope, where the Western Taurus calcareous zone borders on the travertine plain. Evidence of human habitation dating back to the early Paleolithic age (150,000-200,000) years has been discovered in the caves.

Damlataş Cave is located at the western foot of hold peninsula of Antalya. There is a 50 m passage at the entrance. After the passage there comes a cylinderical cavity. This leads to the basement of the cave. The stalactite and stalagmites inside the cave were formed in 15 thousand years. Besides its fascinating beauty the cave is famous with its air which is beneficial to asthmatic patients. Following the rumors that asthmatic benefited from breathing the air in the cave, scientists analyzed a sample of the air to verify the fact that the air was indeed beneficial to patients suffering from non-allergic asthme. They found that the air in the cave contains 10 to 12 times more carbon dioxide than normal air and has % 95 humidity. Temperature in the cave is 22 degrees centigrade. Both the radioactivity and ionization in the cave may contribute to the benefits derived from breathing the air in the cave. Entrance is due to payment. There is a small market around and in front of the cave is a beach.

Damlataş Cave

Manavgat Waterfall on the Manavgat River is near the city of Side, 3 km (2 mi) north of Manavgat, Antalya. Its high flow over a wide area as it falls from a low height is best viewed from a high altitude. The white, foaming water of the Manavgat Waterfalls flows powerfully over the rocks. Near the waterfalls are shady tea gardens providing a pleasant resting place.

Düden Waterfalls are a group of waterfalls in the province of Antalya, Turkey. The waterfall, formed by the Düden River (one of the major rivers in southern Anatolia), is located 12 km north-east of Antalya; which ends, where the limpid waters of the Lower Düden Falls drop off a rocky cliff directly into the Mediterranean Sea in a dazzling show.

Kurşunlu Waterfall National Park is located 19 km from Antalya, Turkey at the end of a 7 km road branching off to the north of the Antalya-Serik-Alanya highway at a point 12 km from Antalya. It is reduced to a mere trickle in the summer months. The waterfall is on one of the tributaries of the Aksu River and its situation in the midst of a pine forest is of quite exceptional beauty. The countryside around the water forms a lovely picnic and pleasure spot only twenty minutes from the centre of the city of Antalya.

Köprüçay River ancient Eurymedon is a river that is situated in Antalya Province, Turkey, and empties into the Mediterranean. At its mouth, in the 460s BC, the Athenian general Cimon defeated a large Persian force of ships and men moving westwards (Battle of the Eurymedon). The two land and sea battles lasted one day and included Cimon's capture or destruction of the entire Phoenician fleet of 200 triremes. In 190 BC, a Roman fleet led by Lucius Aemilius Regillus defeated the Seleucid fleet of Antiochus III the Great, led by Hannibal, near the river. Strabo records a lake he called Caprias near its mouth although the area is today a salt marsh. The Seljuk-era Eurymedon Bridge, which rests on Roman foundations, crosses the river at Aspendos. Further upstream, half-way on the road to ancient Selge, another Roman bridge spans the Eurymedon valley.

Beydağları Mountains Extensions in the province of Antalya is one of the western Taurus Mountains. Ranging from 600-3086 m between the heights of the mountain group of the Gulf of Antalya, in parallel with the bay stretches from north to south, and literally a mountain properly.

Olympos National Park: Olympos is an ancient city which is located in a valley at the south coast of Turkey, 90 km southwest of Antalya city near the Town of Kumluca. The former city of Olympos was founded in the Hellenistic period, presumably taking its name from nearby Mount Olympos, one of over twenty mountains with the name Olympos in the Classical world. The Olympos village is located in the heart of the Olympos coastal national park. The surrounding area offers best conditions for Trekking, Mountain biking, Canyoning, Rock climbing, Sea kayaking. The art of Turkish ceramics' roots can be traced at least as far back as the Uighurs of the 8th and 9th centuries. Its subsequent development was influenced by Central Asian Karakhanid, Ghaznavid, and (especially) Seljuk art. With the Seljuks' victory over the Byzantines at Malazgirt in 1071, the art followed them into Anatolia and embarked upon a new period of strong development fostered by the Anatolian Seljuk sultanate.

Turquoise was the most frequently-used color for glaze although cobalt blue, eggplant violet, and sometimes black were also popular.

The art of Turkish tile and ceramic-making developed over the centuries incorporating many different techniques and styles. Enriched by the arrival of the Seljuks, the ceramic industry in Anatolia achieved a deservedly worldwide reputation with the support of the Ottoman court. Today, Kutahya has been revived as an important center of tile and ceramic-making. In addition, efforts are also being made in private workshops and educational institutions in Iznik, Istanbul, Bursa and Antalya to keep the art of traditional Turkish tiles and ceramics alive and develop it so that it can address the demands of modern-day life.

The First Face Transplant Performed in Antalya

On Jan. 21, Turkish doctors for the first time in Turkey a full face transplant performed at a Turkish man.

The face of a 45-year-old donor, was used to the 19-year-old Ugur Acar a new look. The 19 year old boy running around all his life maimed because his face was almost completely burned by a fire blanket, when he was a baby 40 days old.

The operation was conducted by a special team at the Akdeniz (Mediterranean) University Hospital in Antalya.

Turkish surgery team also performed Turkey's first double arm transplant in September 2010 and the world's first womb transplant from a cadaveric donor in August 2011 in Antalya City.

European Tourists Enjoy the Sun, Sand and Sea in Antalya City

People enjoy the sun, sand and sea in Antalya City while Europe freezes. The temperatures are under zero degrees in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Netherlands. In the heart of Eastern Europe, 90% of the Danube River froze. In the four countries, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria and Serbia, river transport has stopped.

The situation in Ukraine and Russia is very bad. There are even those who died due to cold weather conditions.

But cold weather also effective in the south of the continent.

In Italy, the situation is also bad. The centre of tourism in Italy, Canals of Venice froze.

However, the temperature is 20 degrees in Antalya City. Tourists from Europe in Antalya enjoy with the warm air, the sun and the sea.

The beaches of Antalya were filled to capacity on Sunday as people sought an escape from the cold weather of Europe.

1st International Antalya Guitar Festival

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality works continuously to make Antalya the city of cultural and art. Antalya Metropolitan Municipality is organizing the 1^st International Antalya Guitar Festival on 21-25 February at AKM.

Turkey’s recognized masters of the guitar and famous artists from Spain, Germany and Japan will attend to festival. As a part of festival, conferences and workshops will be held for students. Public concerts can be viewed for free. Antalya has announced its name worldwide with the International Piano Festival, now Guitar Festival will be hosted in Antalya.

Turkey's world-famous guitarists Ahmet Kanneci and Eren Sualp will give a concert in the festival. The 1^st International Antalya Guitar Festival has a full program. Festival will start with Duo Cuenca concert on 21 February at 20:00 at the AKM Aspendos hall. "Guitar, historical development of guitars and Turkish guitar makers” exhibition will be opened before the concert at 19:00 in the AKM foyer. The exhibition will be held for 5 days, with the participation of Turkish guitar makers, classical guitar's development in Turkey carries a different significance in terms of visibility. Mediterranean International Art Fair 2012 (Korean Exhibition) is opened in Antalya

Organized by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, Turk-Korea Culture Exchange Association and Korea Magazine ART, the Mediterranean International Art Fair 2012, namely Korean Exhibition, is opened at Glass Pyramid Congress and Exhibition Center.

Deputy Secretary General of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Cemal Öcal, Turkish veterans of Korean War, painters and many art-lovers were at present at the opening ceremony.

In his speech Mr. Öcal stated his pleasures for hosting such an important event and added “Korea and Turkey have been on strong relationships in terms of history and they are also blood brotherhood countries since Korean War. It is certain that this fair will be an opportunity to enhance international cooperation in various areas of culture and art. I appreciate who helped this exhibition and also the artists of each country attended.”

The chairman of Korea Magazine ART, Kwon Young-il also thanked all artists attending. Then five Turkish veterans of Korean War were awarded with a medal.

There are 300 paintings of 39 artists from 9 countries such as Korea, Turkey, Germany, Russia, USA, China, Vietnam, Azerbaijan and France at the exhibition and will remain open until February 12 at Glass Pyramid Congress and Exhibition Center.

"Turkey Now" Festival In Holland - 400 years of relations Turkey-Netherlands

The 4th Turkey Now Festival which aims to promote Turkish Art and Culture is realized between 23rd february-23rd may in Amsterdam, Lahey, Rotterdam, Uthrecht, Eindhoven and Deventer-Holland.

Leman Sam and her daughters Sevval and Şehnaz Sam will give a concert with Holland Metropol Orchestra.

During the festival there will be many Turkish Art like classical music, jazz, rock music concerts, theater, dance will be performed.

The festival will last 3 months with 60 concerts and many cultural activities. Some of the name of turkish artist who will perform at he festival are Arif Sağ, Mercan Dede, Fuat Saka. Also Athena and Duman will give the concerts and İstanbul Balet Community will show their "Seyahatname 2" balet.

Population of localities are determined by taking into account the population obtained from the Address Based Population Registration System (ABPRS), which was established in 2007 and is updated by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs (GDPCA), and the population living in institutional places. Persons who live in institutional places (military barracks, prisons, nursing homes, university dormitories, etc.) are included in the population of localities where the institutional places are founded according to the international definitions.

In addition, population of provinces, districts, municipalities, villages and quarters are determined by taking into account administrative attachment, legal entity and name changes recorded by the GDPCA in the National Address Database in accordance with the related regulation and administrative registers.

With this press release, the results of 2011 referring to December 31, 2011 on the basis of information taken from the GDPCA are presented.

European Child Films Festival

The works for World Botanical Expo, regarded as one of the most important organizations in the world and will be hosted in Antalya in 2016 themed Children and Flowers, are begun.

European Child Films Festival is realized with the cooperation of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, ATSO and UE Information Center. Children will watch many film between 25th-28th january.

Antalya received 11.3 million tourists in 2011

Antalya City Governor Ahmet Altiparmak reported that Antalya City received 11 million 291 thousand 931 tourists in 2011. In addition, the number of visitors who come to Antalya in 2011, approximately 12 percent increase over the previous year reported.

Altiparmak, said: "In 2011, 10 million 704 thousand 636 tourists came to Antalya by air, 196 thousand 278 tourists came to Antalya by sea.

Also, 391 thousand visitors entered to our city as transit. With transit entries, the number of visitors coming to our province in 2011 amounted to a total of 11 million 291 thousand 931. In 2010, the number of visitors coming to our city was 10 million 37 thousand 44. So, Antalya City became one of the first five cities where is most attractive cities in the world in 2011.

Santa Claus was born in Patara (in modern-day Antalya province, Turkey) in the second half of the 3 BC century. He was bishop in Myra in Lycia. Originally named St. Nicholas, in many European countries, particularly in the former Tsarist Russia was the most popular saint. In Germany' Freiburg, Italian cities of Bari and Naples, the island of Sicily, St. Nicholas is in a special respected. He is recognized as Santa Claus in the Dutch and English languages. Moreover, he is known as the protector of the New York City in the U.S.A. In addition to this, he is the protector of children in all over the world. All of these have led to the creation of a type the legendary and very popular person who is Santa Claus or St. Nicholas.
