Continuing with friends of mine, this week we have my friend Ruby. She secretly loves the color pink, so I used my markers to good effect, and show her playing with her favorite toy at the time, her Nintendo DS (she cheats on it with her iPhone now). It was fun doing drawings of my friends, because I could really load up on the props — she’s also got a rose (that goes with her username), and her special walking shoes.

If you like these, remember that you, too, can be a cartoon for just $79.

I made a greeting card out of him for Valentine’s Day that said, “Cthulhu wanted to give you a heart, but they were all too small and squishy.” They sold so well I took off the “Happy Valentine’s Day” and have left them up on the shop ever since.

A few years back (2006 says the signature!), we visited the Baltimore Aquarium when they had their octopus. He was just so adorable, pink and friendly, and he had this little puzzle-box full of shrimp that we declared was his purse. I spent a long time watching him, studying the way his limbs met his body and the decidedly un-graceful curls and squiggles of his long tentacles, especially the way they attenuated at the very ends.

So, when I got home, I had to draw him! I gave him a purse full of shrimp, and used my “Prawn” copic marker to color him. I ran across him while I was looking for some other files, and I thought I’d share him with you as a lazy Saturday post.

I drew these a while back as a set of clip art for a project that never got off the ground. I always did enjoy adding little illustrative touches to my designs, and of course I swear I covered half my notes in high school with drawings of roses. One of the dangers of being a young Goth, I suppose.

I really do like the brush pen work here, full of quivery, half-there lines that give a real sense of texture and delicacy to the flowers, leaves, and stems. Something good to remember next time I’m inking!

This is the third of my bronze people series, another female domination pose with very extreme bondage indeed this time. I sculpted the male figure as usual, and then wrapped the whole thing in waxed twine, which I then also used for the woman’s hair. I ended up fattening certain parts of his anatomy to match up with his newer, more buffed-up figure — the rope added a lot to his general size while keeping the contours of his shape.

Like the previous set, these two come apart and fit together like rather naughty toys. These two are much more straightforward in how they fit, and she can also do a somewhat awkward reverse cowgirl over his eager mouth.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Fishmen! I’ve decided to do a whole series of Weeble Mythos creatures, to go with Weeble Cthulhu with his Shoggoth — who apparently I posted as a wallpaper but never gave their own post, oops. Sunday, maybe!

Lovecraft’s classic story Shadows Over Innsmouth has inspired a lot of art, writing and video since, and this is my interpretation of the creepy Deep One who’s nearly through with his transformation. I’ve been thinking of putting him on a card or print (he’s currently trapped in a sketchbook so his original isn’t for sale), what do you think?

I’m thinking perhaps Father Dagon & Mother Hydra next, or perhaps Hastur.

This is a much larger piece than the monoprints I’ve been posting up until now, and my terrible photography is unfortunately one of the reasons I’ve been putting off posting them. The page comes out much more buff-colored than the reality, which is the soft cream of heavy watercolor paper.

This is the third of my monoprints featuring chakras, and by far the largest. When I printed it the colors ran, so that the top image came out clear, and the lower chakras were blurred into each other and their colored backgrounds. You can see them more clearly in the detail images below, and you can always click on any image to see the larger version.

7 Chakras, 11″x30″ monoprint on watercolor paper, $399 with free shipping. $40 of your money will go to charity.

This one-of-a-kind print is on a single sheet of thick, archival watercolor paper, and will need to be framed or matted to be suitable for display. I’m happy to help you out with that for the cost of materials.

Want a payment plan? You can do 4 automatic monthly payments of $100 if you’d like — I’ll ship your art as soon as I get the last payment.

This monoprint is another one in a series I did featuring the chakras, in this case showing a man reaching up for the Seventh chakra, enlightenment, while being held down by his very active Second chakra. He strives to rise above while his base physical being keeps him down to earth, so his goal seems to him to be out of reach, as if on another plane entirely. On the other hand, his connection to the ground is also very fuzzy, his feet lost in the fog as he puts all his energy toward his goal and none of it toward his real life.

There’s something compelling to me about the pull between physical and spiritual for many of us, and the disconnect that forms as a result.

This is the second in my series of little bronze people, and as you can see they got quite a bit more risque. This couple, like all my paired people, comes apart at the point of contact.

With Bows On by Amy Crook

They take a little twist to fit together, and I think of them like really porny Legos — though I’m pretty sure Lego wouldn’t be too happy about the comparison. Plus, they only go together one way.

Both figures were hand-scuplted in wax with a few extra details. The man has been decorated with waxed ribbon that cast into bronze, his package, eyes and hands all bound up in pretty bows. The woman has one high heel made of carpet tacks that fused into the bronze, the other seems to have gotten lost along the way — fitting, really, for the sort of activity they’re engaging in.

With Bows On by Amy Crook

As with all the people in this series, there’s only select detail in the figures, she has one hand with distinct fingers while the other lacks discrete digits, and they only have the merest suggestion of faces.

These are, of course, only sold as a pair.

With Bows On, cast bronze approx. 7″ long x 5″ wide x 6″ tall when joined, $1299 with free shiping. $130 of your money will go to charity when you take this couple home.

This is another piece done using S as a reference, I think off one of the photos I took of him. I swear I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to draw people from below without it becoming all about their nostrils, heh. This was also a practice in not-quite-monochrome, using only various shades of blue, from blue-violet hair to blue-green lips to soft powder blue skin. The darkest shadows are the only true black.

This piece is done with soft chalk pastels on a thick bristol board, and really ought to be framed. I’m sure I’ll get to it one of these days!
