General Manager, Bill Lee, prides himself on building the most professional staff in the pool renovation sector, so he wasn't surprised by the contents of the letter at all. When the Malchow's in Spring Lake decided it was time to UPGRADE their pool, they consulted our Renovation Specialist, John Slezak, to show them the options that would make this pool " better than new".

With the help of Sean Murray at Nature's Apprentice, John came up with a plan to bring this pool back to life with some top-notch upgrades. Among the upgrades, you'll see the MAS Noche Honed Coping and a beautiful matching Cambridge Paver patio. New equipment was installed and fresh new Sapphire Ansylbrite finish.

Thanks to the partners from CPS Cope and Tile, CL Miller Plumbing, Nature's Apprentice, and Sabino's Pool Plaster for another job well done.

After!

The Renovation specialists at A&S encounter unique job requests all the time, and in Mahwah, New Jersey this year a family asked them to refurbish a spa that is connected to their swimming pool. They wanted to freshen-up the look, change the tile, and fix some deterioration of the wall between the pool and the spa itself. The customer, Pam S. from Mahwah, thought it was a unique request - but it really wasn't. At A&S, the renovation team satisfies these types of requests all the time.

After the work was finished, Pam wrote a letter to the General Manager saying....

Sneak Preview - A&S Design Home Project

The Freehold area of New Jersey has an Anthony & Sylvan Pools retail store right on Rt. 9 in Englishtown, which is a heavily traveled highway in that part of the state. That particular market area supports many thousands of existing pool owners with multiple pool supply stores where the customer can shop freely and look for technical assistance with their pools when needed. So how could one pool store out-shine all the others? They all carry chemicals and supplies, don't they? So then, what dynamic separates the Anthony & Sylvan Retail establishment from all others? Let me start off by letting you know that this is the first time I have written a letter of this nature.

I have been a customer of your Manalapan store for approximately eight years. We bought our house ten years ago with an existing Anthony & Sylvan Pool. I have tried a couple of different pool stores in the area in the beginning, and then one day I walked into your store in Manalapan and have not gone anywhere else since. Every one of the personnel in that store is a true professional in every sense of the word.

Periodically the field personnel at Anthony & Sylvan Pools have the opportunity to assist a new Anthony & Sylvan customer that has owned a swimming pool before. This experience repeated itself again in June in the NE Region; one of literally hundreds already this year, only in this case - the customer was thoroughly impressed with the talent of our technician - Lowell Kramer. Lowell's experience and background really make the customer feel comfortable, especially if owning a pool is something new to them.

When asked if they would like to recognize someone who's service level made their experience remarkable, Mark R. wrote the following response on their Customer Satisfaction Survey:

As I stated before, Lowell who led our start up, was fantastic. This guy loves, no lives his job and is the most knowledgeable pool guy I've ever met. I thought I knew a lot about pools having owned two before. Wow, the technology has really changed and Lowell knows it all.

I asked him what the biggest problem people have with their pool and he said one issue was with skimmer doors. I'm glad I paid attention as first a small piece of coping mortar and then a twig jammed the door open. His explanation of the problem and how to fix it stuck with me and I fixed it after first panicking that I had a leak! He's a great asset to A&S!

Brooke B. - a customer in the Anthony & Sylvan Pools NE Region - recently e-mailed a marketing survey into the company recognizing the dedication of the Construction Manager (Corey Coughenour) there.

The question posed in the survey was - "Would you like to recognize someone in the Anthony & Sylvan organization who provided a service level that created a remarkable customer experience?"

Brooke wrote back, "Corey C. went above and beyond to make sure in the end that all was taken care of and my pool was finally finished. Corey C. communicated immediately when there was an issue. I know his job requires him to supervise and not deal with a customer like me. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to get help from him."

Dave K. responded to a recent marketing survey in the NE Region by lauding the performance of the Project Manager - Paul Sell. The Project Manager is the face of the company for Anthony & Sylvan Pools and the one who specializes in customer support. He coordinates all phases of construction and communicates with the scheduler, the customer and the people doing the fieldwork to insure complete satisfaction - and he certainly nailed this one.

Dave writes: "Paul Sell does an outstanding job and always goes above and beyond to help out. He truly cares about the client which is very rare. I too am in sales and I know what I must do in order to keep the client happy and it takes a lot for me to be impressed because my expectations are high. He is definitely an asset to A&S."

Amy Washburn (our Houston area construction scheduler) received an e-mail from one of the homeowners whose pool was under construction today. In it, the customer lauds the cleanliness of the excavation crew and let Amy know how much he appreciated their attention to detail. Here is the e-mail:

Amy, I don't know who is responsible for sending the excavation crew that came to my home yesterday, but I wanted to let you know that they couldn't have done a better job.

Of course as they dug the pool and transported the dirt to the street, my driveway couldn't have had more dirt on it, which of course was expected and nothing could be done about that. It was when they were getting ready to leave that was so surprising, I figured I was going to have to do some clean up work after they left, but before they were gone I looked down my driveway and you couldn't tell that anyone had been there, they not only had all of the dirt removed from the driveway, but they removed any dirt that had fallen into my front yard as they made their way down the driveway to the dump truck in the street. Also, any trash that had accumulated in the yard as they worked, was removed before they left, no trash what so ever was left in my yard. I can tell you that after digging my pool, my home looked night and day different from my other neighbors when theirs were dug. Just wanted to say thanks and a great job.

Pool Company Donates to Lenape Middle School

Donation will help pay for the second of two walls of Mercer tiles decorating the school's lobby.

For the second year in a row, Anthony & Sylvan Pools, one of the nation’s leading builders of in-ground concrete and fiberglass swimming pools and spas, has made a donation to the Lenape Middle School Mercer Tile Project.

The Mercer Tile Project – part of an expansive renovation to the school’s front office – consists of two walls of Moravian tiles that provide a visual depiction of Buck County’s history.

“The faculty, staff and students at Lenape Middle School extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Anthony & Sylvan Pools for its ongoing commitment to our school,” said H. Nicholas Chubb, Ed. D., principal of Lenape Middle School. “The Mercer Tile Project will not only provide beauty to our lobby, but also a connection to our world history.”

By organizing and competing in an intramural basketball game, Anthony & Sylvan employees collected donations for the second of two tile walls. The first wall was completed with the aid of company donations last year, and the second wall will be completed prior to the 2011-2012 school year.

“We are honored to contribute to the ongoing renovation of Lenape Middle School,” said Jerry Strauss, vice president of Anthony & Sylvan Pools. “It is always special when we can help an organization in our own community better itself – and Lenape Middle School is no exception. We know that the students here will benefit from the Mercer Tile Project for years to come, and we are happy to be part of the team of businesses that have helped raise funds for such a great cause.”

To collect donations, Anthony & Sylvan employees coordinated an intramural basketball game between Design Consultants and construction/administration staff. The game was played on-site in Lenape Middle School’s gymnasium, and, for the second year in a row, the Design Consultants took home first prize.

During halftime, the company passed around a hat to both players and spectators for donations. Anthony & Sylvan matched $400 worth of donations dollar-for-dollar, for a grand total of $800.

Leftover money not used for completion of the Mercer Tile Project will be placed in a fund to help Lenape Middle School students in financial need.

A recent customer survey revealed high levels of confidence in expert Larry Stern. The customer was so impressed she wrote him directly thanking him for his diligence. The brief letter said:
