♥ Find me ♥ take me ♥ return me ♥ follow me ♥ share me ♥ feel me ♥ move me ♥
HeartVeld is a socially interactive campaign which aims to promote love, happiness and things of the heart. Messages are left in public locations (South Africa) beacuse it is an enjoyable mini experience to connect with other unseen individuals (what message to use, where to leave it, who will find it, don't be seen leaving it, photograph it, share it, smile about it). Hopefully the finder of the hearts will also enjoy and share the mini experience (what's this, what's it say, is it meant for me, should i leave it, take it, smile about it).
The photographs capture a moment of the experience and are beautiful in their own right
Share the experience - http://www.facebook.com/HeartVeld

Paint By Numbers - A memory technique

2011-09-19T16:06:00.000+02:00

Ever noticed that sometimes you struggle with remembering numbers or sequences of numbers even though there is nothing wrong with your memory - is it Dyscalculia? or simply an inefficient method of recording and retrieving number nodes for long enough to be able to manipulate them in your mind. I do find that I can remember anything visual - I see the colour, the shape and the environment it is in - as the starting point of the recalled memory's details. But somehow numbers seem to slip out very easily like ineffective glue. Thanks to Derren Brown' s book - tricks of the mind - which I read recently, I realized there are other ways you can improve on your memory. In his book he uses a letter based system and converts numbers to words and then to visual objects, however I found that colour does well enough for me, as a visual artist it is very easy to visualize a colour pattern and colour mixing system - or even thereafter convert it to an image made up of the colours.

Here are my colour codes
0 = Transparent (like a gap in the design)
1 = Cream / White
2 = Yellow
3 = Green
4 = Blue
5 = Orange
6 = Red
7 = Pink
8 = Brown / Black
9 = Violet / Purple

A colour sequence can easily be remembered by imagining the pattern as a design.
= 2 864 632

For example "12" - is white and yellow - and will bring up an image in your mind of a fried Egg! while the 112 might be a paler yellow (imagining 2 parts whites and one part yellow mixed in paint)

This is just a starting point and various techniques can be added, to cater for more complex patterns, but I have found this has helped me emensly - maybe will help you too.

Conversation with Trees

2011-03-12T18:54:00.000+02:00

I will visit the tree.

The understanding that Everything is conditional to the proportions of the universe’s effect on everything else simultaneously and consequently. The Jacaranda that is perched on the green grass, finds itself in such a predicament and expresses its surprise in a purple exclamation. It can never be the apple tree.

The guardian stands tall watching over the landscaped green sea as the grass tickles its feet, blue skies lifts its reach, leering the ridge edge for the best city panoramic view. The creatures below do not realize where they are there. Thinking it all ends at the edge the green grass forest. They call it. Home. But the tree sees. the tree knows.

And so it continues …

Sounds of the sea

The songs of whales and dolphins can be beautiful to the ear. Now acoustics engineer Mark Fischer has created a way to make them visually pleasing too. What's more, his technique captures more information about the sound than traditional ways of visualising whalesong.

Llama's journey over the internet

2008-07-02T19:38:00.009+02:00

Did you notice the little balloons on the corner of some websites over this last week? I noticed it on notcot and the journey for Lovely Llama began. Cat, camel, bird, or dolphin balloons were picked, named, encouraged and set off to fend for themselves - I chose the camel and named it "lovely llama".

The First Internet Balloon race has just been completed.The race lasted for 7 days as many balloons travelled enthusiastically over participating websites. This blog was a destination stop for many passing balloons, hopefully boosters, tokens and rainbow teleporters were found on my site. Some websites acknowledged your presence with a post or a graphic welcoming the ballooners - made you really feel like you were apart of something. I enjoyed the experience even though I was not legible for any prizes (uk only) as lovely llama and I were teleported to many interesting web spaces that I may have never visited, passing by many other balloons, gently boosting only the camels - you know a sense of sisterhood. Each web page visited equals 1 internet mile, llama managed to travel 2255 miles! - highest rank at 383rd early in the race, dropped to 1700, climbed 1200 places to finally finish at 637th. (Fastest lap time?). The random nature of the browsing from space to space, highlighted the Internet's diverse nature all in one go - and am sure it generated a lot of foot traffic all around. Pity we have to pay for bandwidth otherwise Lovely Llama would have come first. LOL

Am hoping Orange will release lovely llama into the wild - free again.

Here are some websites on route to the finish.

Saturn Returning

2007-05-09T07:30:00.001+02:00

Saturn is about to return

The Saturn Return is an astrological phenomenon that occurs in a person's natal chart at approximately 28–30 years old and again around the age of 58–60. The planet Saturn takes approximately 29.5 years to orbit the Sun; when it returns to the exact degree along the ecliptic it occupied at the time of a person's birth this is referred to as their "Saturn Return".

Saturn is symbolically/astrologically associated with time, challenge, fear, doubt, confusion, difficulty, seriousness, heaviness, and hard lessons, among other more positive things such as structure, significance, accomplishment, reflection, power, prestige, maturity, and order – this is why astrologers believe that the thirtieth birthday is such a major rite of passage and is considered by many astrologers to mark the "true beginning" of adulthood, self-evaluation, independence, responsibility, ambition, and full maturation.
