This is a rare and beautiful 1901 Land Office map of the island of Kauai, Hawaii, prepared for the 1900 Report of the Governor of the Territory of Hawaii to the Secretary of the Interior. Kauai is the fourth largest Hawaiian Island and geologically the oldest islands of the archipelago. Though the cartographic work that produced this map was started in 1878, during the Hawaiian Monarchy, the map itself, and the report that contained it, was issued following the U.S. This is a rare and extraordinary 1878 map of the island of Lanai, in the Hawaiian group, prepared for the 1900 Report of the Governor of the Territory of Hawaii to the Secretary of the Interior. Though the cartographic work that produced this map was started in 1878, during the Hawaiian Monarchy, the map itself, and the report that contained it, was issued following the U.S. Government's 1898 annexation of the Hawaiian Republic. A scarce 1794 first edition example of the official record of Captain Cook's discoveries in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and the Behring Strait. The map covers the northeast part of Asia and the northwest part of North America from the Sea of Okotsk to the Chesterfield Inlet. IT extends southwards to include all of the Aleutian Islands and Cape Perpetua on the as yet unnamed Oregon coast. A spectacular and massive 1849 James Imray nautical chart or maritime map of the northern Pacific. Roughly centered on Hawaii, this sprawling chart covers from Hainan and Borneo eastwards to Columbia and Panama, and from the Behring Strait to the Moluccas and the Galapagos Islands (the Equator). The chart is rendered on a Mercator Projection with latitude measured from Greenwich, England. This is an uncommon 1948 nautical chart or maritime map of the Hawaiian Islands from Oahu to Niihau, including the islands of Niihau and Kauai, as well as part of Oahu. Offers some inland detail as well including topography, rivers, peaks, roads, trails and cities. Includes countless depth soundings in fathoms. The chart was prepared under the supervision of L. O. Colbert, Director, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and published in Washington D.C. as coast chart no. 4117. This is an uncommon 1948 nautical chart or maritime map of Oahu - the most populous island in the Hawaiian Archipelago. Offers some inland detail as well including topography, rivers, roads, railroad lines, craters, peaks and cities. Includes countless depth soundings in Fathoms. Notes Pearl Harbor, Honolulu and Koko Head. The chart was prepared under the supervision of L. O. Colbert, Director, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and published in Washington D.C as coast chart no. 4110. One of the great navigator George Vancouver's most important and influential maps, this is the 1799 general reconnaissance of the west coast of America from San Diego to Kodiak Island, Alaska. At last the west coast of America, particular the Pacific Northwest, appears on the map much as it is in reality. De L'Isle and Buache drew this map to illustrate their speculations on the feasibly of a Northwest Passage. Cartographically this map is a combination of data absconded from the Russian 'Academy of Sciences' and Buache�s speculations on the Northwest Passage. This map is highly significant for its revival of the 'Sea of the West' hypothesis. This very large, rare, and extraordinary 1902 map of the island of Oahu, Hawaii, was prepared for the 1906 Report of the Governor of the Territory of Hawaii to the Secretary of the Interior . Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Koko Head and Kailua Bay are rendered in considerable, as is the charmingly-named Cocoa-Nut Grove on Mauna Loa Bay, complete with tiny coconut trees.
