This is an uncommon 1948 nautical chart or maritime map of the Hawaiian Islands from Oahu to Niihau, including the islands of Niihau and Kauai, as well as part of Oahu. Offers some inland detail as well including topography, rivers, peaks, roads, trails and cities. Includes countless depth soundings in fathoms. The chart was prepared under the supervision of L. O. Colbert, Director, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and published in Washington D.C as coast chart no. 4117. This is an uncommon 1948 nautical chart or maritime map of Oahu - the most populous island in the Hawaiian Archipelago. Offers some inland detail as well including topography, rivers, roads, railroad lines, craters, peaks and cities. Includes countless depth soundings in Fathoms. Colbert, Director, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and published in Washington D.C as coast chart no. 4116. One of the great navigator George Vancouver's most important and influential maps, this is the 1799 general reconnaissance of the west coast of America from San Diego to Kodiak Island, Alaska. At last the west coast of America, particular the Pacific Northwest, appears on the map much as it is in reality. A beautiful 1855 first edition example of Colton's map of Hawaii, New Zealand, and several Polynesian island groups. The sheet contains seven separate maps. The top map, occupying the upper half of the sheet, details the Hawaiian Islands or Sandwich Islands, as they were also known. This particular mapping of Hawaii dates to the 1841 U.S. Exploring Expedition to the Pacific. A second inset map inset in the lower left corner of the Hawaii map details the Samoan Islands. The Dezauche issue of Joseph Nicolas De l'Isle's extraordinary 1730 map of North America, Siberia, the Arctic, and the North Pacific. J. N. De L'Isle and Buache drew this map to illustrate their speculations on the feasibly of a Northwest Passage. Cartographically this map is a combination of data absconded from the Russian �Academy of Sciences� and Buache�s speculations on the Northwest Passage. This map is highly significant for its revival of the 'Sea of the West' hypothesis. This very large, rare, and extraordinary 1902 map of the island of Oahu, Hawaii, was prepared for the 1906 Report of the Governor of the Territory of Hawaii to the Secretary of the Interior . Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Koko Head and Kailua Bay are rendered in considerable, as is the charmingly-named Cocoa-Nut Grove on Mauna Loa Bay, complete with tiny coconut trees. This is an exceptionally fine example of John Thomson�s 1814 map of the Bearing Strait. An extraordinarily fine example of Cassini's 1798 map of Alaska, the Bering Strait, and Siberia. Cassini issued this map in his 1798 atlas to illustrate the discoveries made by James Cook. Cook was the first to accurately chart the Alaskan coastline and provide a detailed mapping of the Aleutian Islands. Cook's zigzagging route is shown as he skirts the Aleutian Islands, passes through the Bering Strait into the Arctic Ocean, and then turns back to sail south along the Siberian Coast. This rare and extraordinary 1904 map of the island of Niihau was prepared for the 1906 Report of the Governor of the Territory of Hawaii to the Secretary of the Interior . The Report was an attempt to assess and examine the newly created Hawaiian Territory�s potential for proper administration and development. Depicts the islands topographical details. Prepared H. E.
