The map covers from Darling Harbour to Dawes Batter and from Woolloomooloo to Brickfields.   At the bottom of the plan there is a numbered index identifying 38 important buildings. Numerous islands of Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia are noted. It covers the entire continent of Australia along with Tasmania or as it was known at the time, Van Diemen's Island.  An interesting map issued just as most of the earth's non-polar shore has been explored.  Gone are many of the errors of the previous century with the coastlines accurately rendered. This map depicts the area during the early years of settlement in the only state to be settled by free settlers.  The map includes beautiful illustration by H.
