1687 Van Keulen Map of Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Florida

Among the most scarce and decorative Dutch nautical charts of the American southeast, this is Johannis Van Keulen's and C. J. Vooght's 1687 maritime map of the Virginia, Carolina, Georgia and Florida coasts. Oriented to the west (with north to the right), this map covers from the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay southwards, along the eastern seaboard, as far as Cape Canaveral, Florida. Like most nautical charts, this map focuses on the coast line and offers limited inland data. <a href="http://www.geographicus.com/P/AntiqueMap/Carolina-vankeulen-1687>... more

1783 De L'Isle Map of the United States, Mexico, and the West Indies

This is the 1783 Dezauche issue of Phillipe Buache and Guillaume D L'Isle's important map of North America and the West Indies. The map covers the United States, Mexico, New Mexico, Central America and the West Indies or Antilles. De L'Isle first issued this map in 1703. At the time it was by far the most sophisticated map of the region yet produced, an achievement that the map historian Carl Wheat considers 'a towering landmark along the path of Western cartographic development'. <a href="http://www.geographicus.com/P/AntiqueMap/CarteduMexiqueEtatsUnis-delisle-1783>... more

1780 Buache Map of the West Indies, Florida, and the Antilles

A fine example of the 1789 Dezauche edition of Buache's important map of the West Indies. Centered on Cuba, this massive map covers Central America, the Gulf of Mexico, the West Indies, and the Caribbean from Mexico and Texas to the Lesser Antilles and from Florida to the Spanish Main. Cartographically Buache derived this map from Henry Popple's remarkable 1733 map of North America. As a whole it exhibits numerous significant advances over earlier Buache / De L'Isle model of the region. <a href="http://www.geographicus.com/P/AntiqueMap/AntillesMexiqueFlorida-buache-1780>... more

1884 Drew Pocket Map of Florida

An extremely scarce and important map of Florida drawn by Horace Drew in 1884. This highly uncommon map, the earliest known example of which was issued in 1867, is considered to be the only pocket map of Florida actually printed in Florida. The first edition of this map was printed by Columbus Drew from his offices in Jacksonville Florida and subsequently updated in an unknown number of editions into the 1880s. This example was printed by Horace Drew, son and successor to Columbus. <a href="http://www.geographicus.com/P/AntiqueMap/Florida-drew-1884>... more
