The map covers from the Baltic Sea and the North Sea or the German Ocean south as far as the Gulf of Venice, and east as far as Poland, Hungary and Prussia. The map covers part of modern day Poland and Lithuania and shows Holy Roman Empire Circles, the Palatinate of Culm, Pomeralia, and Polish Prussia.  Various, important rivers, islands, cities and other topographical details are noted. <title>1817 Thomson Map of Poland and Lithuania</title>

Thomson’s map covers Poland following Napoleonic Wars and the treaties of the 1815 Congress of Vienna. Twenty earlier, in 1795 The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was dismembered and divided between Russia, Prussia, and Austria. <title>1710 Chatelain Map of the Kingdom of Poland (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth)</title>

Centered on 'Petite Pologne,' the map covers from the Baltic Sea to Transylvania and from Glatz to the border with Moscovie (Russia).   Like most of Chatelain's work it is beautifully engraved and masterfully printed on fine paper using an intense dark ink.
