<title>1828 Craig View of Amsterdam, Netherlands</title>
<description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.geographicus.com/P/AntiqueMap/Amsterdam-maltebrun-1828"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.geographicus.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/S/Amsterdam-maltebrun-1828-S.jpg" alt="antique map" title="Antique &amp; Rare Maps" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; This is an uncommon example of the 1828 view of Amsterdam, Netherlands, drawn by W. M. Craig. It features a lovely view towards the Zuiderzee (Zuyder Zee), a shallow bay in the North Sea.  Ships can be seen in the forefront, and people can be seen walking along the tree lined boardwalk.  This view was engraved by J. B. The map covers from Hamburg to Lake Geneva.  Includes the modern day countries of Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria.  This map is made in the year following the European Revolutions of 1848.  These liberal uprising swept all though Europe, except Russia and the United Kingdom. This map covers the Netherlands before the Belgian Revolution, when Belgium was still part of the United Kingdom of Netherlands.
