This is a fine example of Rand McNally and Company's 1889 map of Tennessee and Kentucky. It covers both states in detail and notes numerous towns, cities, railways, rivers, and other topographical details. The map is color coded according to counties and relief is shown by hachures. This map was issued as plate nos. 174 and 175 in the 1893 edition of Rand McNally and Company's Indexed Atlas of the World - possibly the finest atlas Rand McNally ever issued. A scarce first edition of John Thomson's 1817 map of the southeastern part of the United States. The map covers from the Mississippi River eastward to the Atlantic, extending north as far as Lake Erie, and south to northern Florida and the Mississippi River Delta. A scarce and important 1809 map of the southeastern part of the United States by John Pinkerton. The map covers from the Mississippi River eastward to the Atlantic, extending north as far as Delaware, and south to northern Florida and the Mississippi River Delta. The states of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia are illustrated in full while Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi have yet to appear as either states or territories. An interesting and exceptionally influential 1867 post Civil War movement map of the Southern States drawn for edward A. Pollard's book The Lost Cause . The map covers from Ohio and Pennsylvania to central Florida and the Gulf of Mexico and from Texas and Arkansas eastward to the Atlantic. The sites of various Civil War battles are marked in red. In addition that map identifies major cities and towns, roads, canals, and railways. Topography is rendered by hachure. An excellent 1855 first edition example of Colton's map of Kentucky and Tennessee. Like most of Colton's state maps, this map was derived from an earlier wall map of North America produced by Colton and D. Griffing Johnson. Covers the both Kentucky and Tennessee in full as well as parts of the adjacent states. This map was issued at the height of the American westward expansion. A beautiful example of A. J. Johnson�s 1866 map of Kentucky and Tennessee. Represents Johnson's third iteration of this map, which he updated in 1865 to reflect changes to these secessionist states following the American Civil War. Map shows both states in full with color coding according to county. Inset views of the Nashville State House and the Entrance to Mammoth Cave decorate the map in the upper left and lower right quadrants, respectively. Colton identifies various cities, towns, forts, rivers, rapids, fords, and an assortment of additional topographical details. An extremely attractive example of Colton�s 1854 pocket map format railroad and township map of the Western States. Covers the states of Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri Iowa Michigan and Wisconsin with parts of Minnesota and Pennsylvania. Offers extraordinary detail with color coding to the county level. This hand colored map is a lithographic engraving, dating to 1862 by the legendary American Mapmaker S.A. Mitchell, the younger. It represents the states of Kentucky and Tennessee. Shows both political and geographical features. This is a larger and more detailed version of Mitchell�s 1860 issue of the same map. One of the most attractive atlas maps of this region to appear in the mid 19th century. Features the floral border typical of Mitchell maps from the 1860-65 period.
