1778 Vaugondy Map of Mexico, Central America, Florida and the West Indies

This is an uncommon 1778 map of Mexico, the Gulf Coast, Florida and West Indies by Robert de Vaugondy. Centered on the Gulf Coast, it covers from Baja California to Florida and the Lesser Antilles, and from the Chesapeake Bay south as far as Bogota in Columbia. Being primarily a map of Mexico and the Spanish holdings in North America, this excellent map details the various Mexican states naming countless towns, villages, and haciendas. This is a stunning 1747 decorative map of the Western Hemisphere by the English cartographer Emanuel Bowen. It covers North and South America as well as much of the Pacific and the Atlantic as far as Spain and the Canary Islands. The map details America during the Colonial Period. In North America, England controls the colonies along the eastern coast of the continent and surrounding the Hudson Bay. France occupies Louisiana, parts of Canada, and the Great Lakes region. This is Johnson's 1866 map of the North America. It extends from the Arctic Circle, including Alaska and Greenland south to Panama. Shows, the United State, Canada and Mexico divided into states and provinces. Most of the United States are depicted much as they exist today, with a few notable exceptions: Arizona extends westward into what is today the Las Vegas region of Nevada; Dakotas are a single large territory; Oklahoma is still named the Indian Territory. An uncommon 1701 map by Herman Moll of Mexico, the Gulf Coast, and Florida. Centered on the Gulf Of Mexico (the Bay of Mexico here), this map covers from Baja California to Florida and Cuba, covering in the process, the Gulf of Mexico, parts of New Mexico as far north as New York and Santa Fe, and as far as south as Panama. This is a scarse 1701 map of North America and South America by Herman Moll. Centered on the American continent, this map covers from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego. The map features much of note including a presentation of California as an Island, the early speculative mappings of New Zealand an the inclusion of Lake Parima and Xarayes in South America. This is one of the few maps to represent California as an island. This is a scarce 1874 map of the United States and Mexico by Ambroise Tardieu. It covers the entirety of the United States and Mexico including parts of the West Indies. Although the map was published in 1874, cartographically it dates to 1849, right after the Mexican American War. Notes various territories in the west, including the Oregon Territory, the Northwest Territory, Indian Territory and New California. This is a finely detailed 1874 map of the North America by Ambroise Tardieu. This map covers the entire continent from the Arctic Circle to the northern part of South America inclusive of the West Indies, Central America, Mexico, the United States, Canada and Alaska. In addition to standard political and physical data this map offers a vast wealth of cartographic information including cities, rivers, mountains, some offshore details and much more. This is an exceptionally interesting and beautiful 1752 wall map of North America composed by Malachy Postlethwayte. Postlethwayte, an englishman, prepared this map for issue in conjunction with the second edition (1752) of his popular Dictionary of Trade & Commerce . Cartographically this map is based upon the earlier work of the French mapmaker J. B. B. D�Anville. This is a fine example of Thomas Cowperthwait and S. A. Mitchell's 1854 map of Mexico and Guatemala. The whole is engraved and colored in Mitchell's distinctive style with green border work and vivid pastels. Political and topographical features are noted and color coded with elevation rendered by hachure. This map features several insets. This is a fine 1793 map of the West Indies and the Caribbean by Robert Wilkinson. Wilkinson's map covers the West Indies, from the Mexican Coast to the Windward Islands, inclusive of the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, Florida, the Spanish Main, the Bahamas, and the Greater Antilles. An exceptional 1691 nautically styled map of the Pacific Ocean by the Venetian cartographer Vincenzo Maria Coronelli. Coronelli's map covers the Pacific from Japan to New Zealand and from New Guinea to Tiera Del Fuego and the Yucatan. The map focuses on the new discoveries in the Pacific by Dutch, French, and Spanish, and as such is styled as nautical chart with heavy coastal but only limited inland detail. This is a scarce 1842 example of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge or S.D.U.K. map of Central America, including southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Yucatan, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. The southern portion of the nascent Republic of Texas is shown here in its final year as an independent republic before being annexed into the United States. Offers extraordinary detail, noting towns, rivers, lakes, and topography. A fine example of Adam and Charles Black's 1844 map of North America. The map covers the continent from the North Georgian Islands in the Arctic Ocean to the Galapagos Islands in the North Pacific Ocean. Also covers Greenland and Iceland. Includes the Russian and British territories in America, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central America and the West Indies. This beautiful map of Mexico, Guatemala and the West Indies was printed in 1835 by the important American mapmaker T. G. Bradford. It covers from Upper California and New Albion south to Panama, including the modern day regions of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Texas, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Mexico. Bradford's map offers an interesting pre-Republic mapping of state of Coahuila and Texas. This is a scarce 1852 map of the United States and Mexico by Joseph Meyer. Depicts the United States at the height of the California Gold Rush and shortly after the annexation of Texas. The map covers the United States from Coast to coast and shows a very early configuration of the Transmississippi. Nebraska is shown at its fullest, extending from Kansas to the Canadian border. Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Arizona, Colorado, West Virginia, and Nevada do not yet appear on the map. This is a fascinating 1814 map of the West Indies and Central America by the Edinburgh cartographer John Thomson. It covers from the Carolinas south through Texas, Mexico and Central America to the northern part of South America as well as Venezuela and the Orinoco Delta. It includes all of the West Indies islands including the Caribbean and the Greater and Lesser Antilles. This is an attractive 1852 map of Central America by Joseph Meyer. It covers from the Yucatan and the Gulf of Mexico south as far as Panama. It includes nine insets maps. In a clockwise fashion from the top center, these detail the Great Lake of Nicaragua, The Isthmus of Panama, the Friendly Islands (Tonga), Society Islands, Marquesas Islands (Mendana), Easter Island of Waihu, the Sandwich Islands or the Hawaiian Archipelago, Galapagos Islands and the Istmo de Tehuantepec. An exceptionally beautiful map of considerable historic importance, this is J. H. Colton's first edition 1849 map of the United States on the cusp of the California Gold Rush. Colton depicts the borders of the United States as consolidated under the 1848 Treaty of Guadeloupe Hidalgo signed at the end of the Mexican American War. The United States stretches from coast to coast with the Mexican Cession of Upper California or New California noted. This is an important and scarce first edition example of S. A. Mitchell and H. N. Burroughs' 1846 map of North America. This hand colored lithographic map covers all of the United States, Canada, Russian America (Alaska), Mexico and Central America predating the Mexican American War and the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This is a fine example of Thomas Cowperthwait and S. A. Mitchell's 1850 map of the West Indies. It covers from Florida and the Bahamas south through the Caribbean islands of Cuba and Hispaniola (Haiti & the Dominican Republic) to the northern Part of South America and east to the Caribbee Islands or the Lesser Antilles. Includes the Bahamas (Bahama Islands). The whole is engraved and colored in Mitchell's distinctive style with green border work and vivid pastels.
