1833 Benton Pocket Map of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware

This is a beautiful example of the Henry Benton's extremely scarce 1833 pocket map of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Benton's map covers Pennsylvania from Lake Erie eastward to Delaware and New Jersey, including adjacent parts of Maryland and neighboring New York and Ohio. In the lower left quadrant, a statistical table details population by counties in 1820 and 1830. Square mileage by state is also noted. This is a scarce example of the 1907 U. S. Geological Survey southern New Jersey in the vicinity of Atlantic City and Egg Harbor. Centered on the Great Egg Harbor, the map covers from Great Bay to Peermont, including Ocean City, Atlantic City, Sea Isle City, and Brigantine. An inset of the Great Bay area is included. The map offers copious topographical detail in addition to identifying towns, roads, rivers, railway lines, and some city street grids. Originally dissected and mounted by E. P. Magnificently detailed, visually stunning, and monumentally proportioned, this is William Kitchell's seminal 1860 case map of New Jersey. Dissected and mounted on thirty-six linen backed panels, this map covers the entire state of New Jersey as well as the Delaware Bay, and adjacent parts of New York, Pennsylvania (particularly Philadelphia), and Delaware. Breathtaking detail is featured throughout. An important 1777 Revolutionary War Era map of New York and New Jersey by Claude Joseph Sauthier and Matthew Lotter. This map is Lotter's German edition of Sauthier's map of 1776. The map covers from Quebec and Lake Champlain along the Hudson Valley Corridor south as far as Delaware Bay, inclusive of all of New York (as it then appeared) and New Jersey, as well as significant portions of adjacent Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Delaware. A beautiful example of A. J. Johnson�s 1861 map of New Jersey. Covers the entire state along with portions of adjacent Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New York. Offers color coding according to county and notations for railways, roadways, cities, towns, and river systems. Features the strapwork style border common to Johnson�s atlas work from 1860 to 1863. Published by A. J. Johnson and Browning as plate number 28 in the 1861 edition of Johnson�s New Illustrated Family Atlas . This is a rare map of New York City, Staten Island, and Northern New Jersey during the American Revolutionary War issued for John Marshall�s 1832 edition of the Life of Washington . The map covers the strategically important west bank of the Hudson River from the Tappan Sea to Staten Island and further extends southwards to Trenton, Monmouth, and Deal, New Jersey. Various rivers, roads, and topographical elements are noted. This is a rare map of central New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania during the American Revolutionary War issued for John Marshall�s 1832 edition of the Life of Washington . The map covers the lands on both sides of the Delaware River from Alexandria, Sandy Hook, and Staten Island south pas Philadelphia and Trenton to Delaware and Maryland. Various rivers, major roads, and the sites of important battles are noted. Exquisitely detailed and charming lithographic views of various unnamed buildings surround a map of Fairmount, New Barbadoes Township, New Jersey. Most of the views focus on the properties and lands of G. N. Zingsem, the architect renowned for designing Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. Today Fairmont enjoys an unusual diversity of flora due to Zingsem�s importation of various Elms, poplar, Cedar, and Capalpa trees into the region.
