An uncommon 1879 nautical chart or maritime map of the New Jersey coastline between Barnegat Inlet and Sandy Hook. The chart offers countless depth soundings and a wealth of practical information for the mariner as well as superb coastal detail. A fine first edition first state old color example of Jan Jansson's 1636 map of the northeast American coastline from Cape Lookout (here identified as C. of Feare) to Nova Scotia. The map includes parts of modern day North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Nova Scotia. A scarce first edition of John Thomson's 1817 map of the southeastern part of the United States. The map covers from the Mississippi River eastward to the Atlantic, extending north as far as Lake Erie, and south to northern Florida and the Mississippi River Delta. An unusual 1866 U.S. Coast Survey map of the entrance to Delaware Bay. The map covers the entrance of the bay from Cape May, New Jersey to Assawoman Bay, Delaware. The map offers countless depth soundings throughout as well as excellent coastal detail, especially in Cape Map and along Rehoboth Bay, Indian River Bay, and Assawoman Bay. An inset in the lower left quadrant focuses on the Delaware Breakwater near Cape Henlopen. This is a beautiful example of Rand McNally and Company's 1893 map of New Jersey, United States. The map covers the state of New Jersey in its entirety, including parts of neighboring states. Centered on metropolitan Philadelphia, the map covers from Frederick, PA, to Washington New Jersey, and from Brandywine, Delaware to Northampton, PA. Throughout this map offers the typical high level of detail - down to individual buildings - typical of U.S.G.S. work. It further shows topography, city streets, rail lines, roads, and marshlands.
