Happy New Year!

Well another year has gone and a new one is just beginning. I have so many plans for this New Year that I don't know where to start! Now this is not the way to start this New Year with a little confusion, but I will make the best of it "one day at a time"

I did make 2 New Year’s resolutions:

1. The Diet, yep I am gonna go on that diet I always talk about. Just watch and see!

2. Reading and applying God's Word more in my life. I did fall a little short last year :(

I know I can add a whole bunch more but in all reality I want to accomplish some so that is why I am only doing two. If I can't keep these two than I have a large problem and I won't own up to it, so you can see my dilemma by just keeping these two.

I have been lax since I am more at my real job then home this past year and a half. I still have to work but I am determined not to go to bed at 7pm but stay up a little later to do my sites.

October Is Almost Over!

Gosh where did it go? I can't believe that it’s almost the end of October, it has come and it’s almost gone. The trees did not have much of a spectacular color this year it seems they faded out so fast. Probably due to all the rain we had this summer and the beginning of fall. It’s been quite hectic for me as I am working full time at a very busy place and by the time I come home I am too tired to list my beautiful vintage items.

I did open two more websites, one on Ruby Plaza and the other Ruby Lane which are both different in products but the same name! One is all about vintage and almost vintage woman's clothing and the other is vintage glass, china and more! I am trying to get ready for the upcoming Holidays but I know they will be gone before I know it and I will be months behind in catching up. Is that what life is all about, catching up? Nah it’s me lagging behind :0). All kidding aside I am anxious to list, blog, chat and have some free time to do what I love best and that is going to live auctions, estate sales and flea markets.

Then I love to do research on what I bought and of course list and present to you what great finds I found for your collections. I did need to write a few words on my blog as I have been lagging behind on this also, so now it’s time for me to list what I have for you! Time Flies!

My gosh the time is just flying by. I cannot believe its August and already into our second week. I have not been blogging lately as I have been sooooooooooooooo busy working outside the home. It doesn't seem like the economy is on a down-hill mentality, cause where I am working they are so busy. Big company, big place, big sales that's all I can tell ya!

I am now selling on Ruby Lane as well as Ruby Plaza now besides my many other ecrater websites. Yes you ask??? How does she do it??? Not sure myself but it gets done one website at a time :0). I also am one of the mods over at The Vintage Village Vintage Fashions Group so come and check it out!

I have another favorite place I hang out at called Treasure Seekers Unite If you decide to join please tell them that Out Of The Attic 2u sent you. Its another place to learn, share and have fun. I do belong to many other groups like this but these are my favorites and if I am not at one I am at the other. I do want to mention one other place that I belong to only because most of my websites are ecrater and that is the name of this group Ecrater Stores Network I guess I am in a linky giveaway mood, something I usually don't do.

I have not done a blessed thing this summer, all work and no play! I did play hooky from work only to stay home and work on my listings, yes boring but it had to get done. The fall will be coming soon and before you know the log and awful cold PA winter will be upon us. I am not looking forward to that.

Memorial Day

I want to thank all the men and woman who have served us with their lives and for standing up and being counted for serving our United States of America.

You all deserve more than a day. You have blessed us with your dedication, your lives and your families for the services you have performed for this country. I pray that God continues to shine His face down upon you all and to give you peace and comfort in the dark nights and lonely days. He is your comforter and your peace, look to Him for His watch care over you.

I also pray that the men and woman who dies for and keeps us free that their names never be forgotten, they are heroes everyone of them.
Thank you to all the Soldiers who have served this country from the beginning of time to this present day. Thank you for your dedication, your lives and all that you have done , are doing and will do for our freedom.

Happy Mother's Day

I am wishing all you beautiful moms and soon to be moms a very blessed Mother's Day. Believe me you have earned it! You have carried the load year after year and occasionally complain :0) but are still there doing it! I want to congratulate you in your workmanship in keeping the house in order.

Today let the others rule the roost while you take the day just for you. Let the family serve you while you relax and look on. Of course they can't do the job you do, but they will do the best they can and let them just do what they can.

Remember this day only comes once a year so relish in it and enjoy it while you can.

My Sister & Me!

Bella (my sis) and Cookie ( that's me)

My sister went to be with the Lord on Feb 10, 2011. She went in for a gall bladder operation and wound up with 3 blood clots in her brain, she had a massive stroke. We were told that she won't make it if she were to have another stroke that she would be living in a vegetate state. She became paralyzed on her right side, couldn't talk, speak, eat or see. She had gone through so much in her short life-time. She had a breast removed, a brain tumor the size of an orange removed a defibrillator put in and many more health issues which came from chemo and radiation treatments.

We were sisters, friends and at times unlovable to one another, but she is my sister and I love her! I will miss our good times and our bad times as we were very close in growing up. My mom used to dress us as twins as we were less than a year apart. We use to play together and fought together and slept together cause we were afraid to sleep by ourselves when we finally got our own bedrooms. Of course my sister instigated a lot of trouble for me and I would get spanked and she would laugh, yep that's how it was folks, but she's my sister and I love her!

There are so many things I can say about our growing up, our marriages, our kids and grand kids but it would take an eternity and I don't have that much time. We both became born again Christians about the same time and we had our ups and downs in seeking the Lord, but He is faithful and now she is with Him, He is giving her unspeakable joy and she is seeing Him in all His glory. I will be with her and my mom when its my time to go, for He is my refuge, my comforter, and my Lord!

Happy & Blessed New Years

Just wanting to wish you all a very happy and blessed New Year. This was an eventual past year for me as I added many more websites and closed a few. I found it is best for me to have a pottery website, a glass website, a kid’s website and so on. I am very satisfied with my decision.

I also am working as a temp for the Amazon Fulfillment center in PA and find it very rewarding, yes I lost weight, gained muscle and made new friends. It’s great knowing how they get things done and it makes me a happy camper.

I've been to Florida to see my family, had a blast in the warm sunshine state and can't wait to go back. I lived there for over 34 years, moved to PA and now I am wishing to go back home. I miss the family, the sun, the warm weather as I am tired of shoveling snow and looking at gray skies daily. Yes PA is a beautiful state but I find it’s not for me.

We have been trying to sell our home for the past two years but nada, no one is moving here, can't blame them :). The timing is off for sellers, but great for buyers. We will not undersell our home; we will just stay here and possibly freeze to death (just kidding folks). I must admit the summers and spring times are the best, beautiful flowers in bloom, trees awakening from their sleep, deer getting back their beautiful coats, baby fawns with their polka dots (lil Bambi's) so cute and adorable, yes the baby black bears are cute too!

I am looking forward as to see what the Lord will do for me and my husband this year. We go to a great church and really learn the Word. This church I will definitely miss if and when we move. I am not going to make New Year’s resolutions since I never keep them anyway, but will take one day at a time, well maybe a few days at a time since I haven't really made any plans yet.

I do pray for all my friends, business acquaintances and my followers and buyers that your year will be a healthy and prosperous one.

HEY, WASN'T THIS US ?

A little house with three bedrooms, one bathroom and one car on the street. A mower that you had to push to make the grass look neat. In the kitchen on the wall we only had one phone, and no need for recording things, someone was always home.

We only had a living room where we would congregate, unless it was at mealtime in the kitchen where we ate. We had no need for family rooms or extra rooms to dine. When meeting as a family those two rooms would work out fine.

We only had one TV set and channels maybe three, but always there was one of them with something worth to see. For snacks we had potato chips that tasted like a chip. And if you wanted flavor there was Lipton's onion dip.

Store-bought snacks were rare because my mother liked to cook and nothing can compare to snacks in Betty Crocker's book. Weekends were for family trips or staying home to play. We all did things together --even go to church to pray.

When we did our weekend trips depending on the weather, no one stayed at home because we liked to be together. Sometimes we would separate to do things on our own, but we knew where the others were without our own cell phone.

Then there were the movies with your favorite movie star, and nothing can compare to watching movies in your car. Then there were the picnics at the peak of summer season pack a lunch and find some trees and never need a reason. Get a baseball game together with all the friends you know, have real action playing ball -- and no game video.

Remember when the doctor used to be the family friend, and didn't need insurance or a lawyer to defend? The way that he took care of you or what he had to do, because he took an oath and strived to do the best for you.

Remember going to the dime store and shopping casually, and when you went to pay for it you used your own money? Nothing that you had to swipe or punch in some amount; and remember when the cashier person had to really count?

The milkman used to go from door to door, And it was just a few cents more than going to the store. There was a time when mailed letters came right to your door, without a lot of junk mail ads sent out by every store. The mailman knew each house by name and knew where it was sent; there were not loads of mail addressed to "present occupant."

There was a time when just one glance was all that it would take, and you would know the kind of car, the model and the make. They didn't look like turtles trying to squeeze out every mile; they were streamlined, white walls, fins and really had some style.

One time the music that you played whenever you would jive, was from a vinyl, big-holed record called a forty-five. The record player had a post to keep them all in line and then the records would drop down and play one at a time.

Oh sure, we had our problems then, just like we do today and always we were striving, trying for a better way. Oh, the simple life we lived still seems like so much fun, how can you explain a game, just kick the can and run? And boys would put baseball cards between bicycle spokes, and for a nickel, red machines had little bottled Cokes?

This life seemed so much easier and slower in some ways. I love the new technology but I sure do miss those days. So time moves on and so do we and nothing stays the same, but I sure love to reminisce and walk down memory lane.

I want to wish all my friends and family and also my new found friends and business acquaintances a very blessed Thanksgiving. This is a special day of the year where we all in unity give thanks for the food on our table, our families and friends, our jobs and business', the clothes on our backs and the fun things we all like in our own ways.

If it weren't for God we would have nothing, He alone is our provider, yes we do the work, but He is the one who opens the door for that job, for that business. Without Him in our lives we are nothing, doesn't matter what your beliefs are, He is all in all. So today and every day I am grateful He is in my life, pray fully He is in yours.

I pray that He prospers you in all things, gives you the desires of your heart, open doors for you that could not be opened, and to supply you with all your needs, may He continue to give you health and protection from the everyday of life's trauma's and watch over the works of your hands and the words of your mouth. Blessings to you all and may you all receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

The Many Colors of Fall!

Yes its that time of year where you will see all the gorgeous colors of fall. One thing about living in the mountains is you get a real eyeful. Yellow Oaks, Red Oaks and so many more different trees. Of course I don't know the names of the trees just a few of them, but they are all so beautiful and colorful.

Amber is a lovely color like this plate from the Indiana Glass Co.

This is the best time of the year to drive along the riverbanks, highways, streams and bridges just to look at the magnigficant colors. They come fast and go fast and once they are gone you know its winter. But I want to think about the Autumn because of the colors and what I like most.

Look at this beautiful red in the Rose Cake Pan this is seen on so many of the trees here!

The fun part (not really) is raking or even diving into the piles which the kids like to do. Thousands and thousands of leaves. What do I so with them? glad you asked, we blow them back into the woods where they will compost into the ground sort of like giving them back to nourish the earth!

Autumn Leaves

Now is the time to make Pumpkin Pies and Hot Apple Cider for those cool nights, and of course this is a lovely color color Pumpkin though it is a lighter shade it is still a lovely hue of orange!

This is just a small sample of our Autumn here in Pennsylvania and it lasts for just a few short weeks and then the Snow comes! Later for that please :)

September is Here

Well it seems Sept started off very hot here in PA, which is unexpected for us. We usually have cooler days and very cool nights by this time. It is a pleasure though for me to still be able to enjoy the warm hot days cause soon the long and cold winter will be upon us.

This is a time now to start getting ready for the holidays which are just around the corner. So are you all getting ready? If so what are you doing to make this a good selling time for you. I know listing more is important, getting your links out there are important, sending your buyers newsletters are important, but you tell me what is the most important part of our business to bring in the customer to buy our goods when everyone else just about has the same goods.

Do you think lower prices, free shipping, or even adding free gifts are a good idea? Why not share what you do and what works for you so that others can learn also. I already gave my ideas and there are a lot of options out there; for instance here is one more; swap business cards and flyers to help promote each other, also if you don't have the item and you know that someone else has it, tell the buyer and give the buyer the webstore that has it.

Pierre The Poodle

I had an interesting week from Aug 8 to Aug 17. I was puppy sitting my Pastor's poodle while he went to celebrate his grand kids birthdays in Tulsa. I was given the privilege to puppy sit. It actually blessed my socks off. Pierre and I got along so well together. He sat on my lap most of the day and if not he and I was playing with his toys or he was chewing on my arms, fingers and toes.

We went for walks and he chased butterfly's, scared the deer, squirrels and other dogs away with his scary bark and growl. He was a good watch puppy dog. He loved to go and visit the neighbors who of course adored him, petted him and kissed him. Spoiled is not the word for this pup.

His personality is one of the best pups I know that is sweet, loving and very playful. Of course we became one with the hip, which brought back memories of when my kids were babes and they were always sitting on my hip. Now this pup had his own bed but I think he forgot that it was there cause he slept on my bed snuggled either in the crook of my back legs or in the crook of my belly. It was hard for me to turn cause whenever I did he just moved back into his position again.

He loved to look out the window and watch the birds which he never barked at, only the deer and other furry animals. My neighbor has an Akita who just looked at him as if to say "Yeah come on, make my day" Pierre would bark and growl at him and he just looked at him, probably thinking go away you are giving me a headache.

When it was time for him to go back home I was very saddened as I became so use to him being on my lap and of course not doing any work whatsoever, who had the time. He didn't like when I was tapping on the keys of my computer, he would get upset and look at me with those big eyes and I would have to stop. Well he has been gone now two days and I still have withdrawal symptoms, but no I won't get a pup cause I need to have a life. Though I would keep Pierre in a heartbeat if he was offered to me! Now cats are easier to take care of since they are finicky and really take care of themselves, but the hubby says no. But who knows maybe someday.

Q1. What inspired you the most to start The Vintage Village?

A1. Long Story... lol! I was selling Crafts on Etsy and sort of “fell” into selling vintage after closing up the home of a 100 year old relative, Elsie... the namesake of my shop on Etsy. I became bitten with the Vintage Bug and never looked back!!!

Shortly after opening my Vintage shop, ElsiesAttic.... Etsy went through a rough patch trying to decide if Vintage was going to stay as part of their site since it was a site dedicated to Handmade.

When we all thought we might get the boot off Etsy, I decided to begin a social site for us on Ning. I was running a social site for writers on Ning at the time and thought it would be a great platform for us Vintage folks as well.

I really just wanted a place for us to get together and figure out what we were going to do with ourselves next. I was hoping to unite the Vintage community on Etsy, which was going through some hard times. Folks began joining right away, spread the word and it just sort of took on a life of it's own. The community grew and grew and every new member had something to add and it just snow balled into what it is today... :)

Q2. How did you come up with the name The Vintage Village?

A2. It was easy... :) We were Vintage folk and I was trying to create a sort of home for us all and said to myself I want to create a virtual Village!! Waalaa!!!

Q3.What do you enjoy most about what you do?

A3. Wow... I have to say it's the interaction with the members that just drives everything I do. I simply love the people there. The friendships I have formed and the lives that have entered MY life have given me so many riches that I can't even begin to express it. Second to that is the knowledge aspect... I LOVE finding some new little nugget of info... it just thrills me to death!

Q4.What do you enjoy least about what you do?

A4. OY! The record keeping!!!

Q5. What are your goals for The Vintage Village and where would you like to see it in the next few years?

A5. Well, I really just want to see the community grow more than anything else cause that is what the original idea was. I want us to become the “Got To” place for anything related to Vintage. It's a lofty goal and one that will take years to establish but with everyone pitching in and adding what they know and helping each other, I think we can do it. We have already accomplished so much since we began that it just floors me when I look back at it all.

Happy Father's Day

Well that time is coming around again and its the Dad's turn. Now dads are good to have around, they bring fun, love, security and protection to the home. Yes not all dads are like this, but to say thanks to the ones who are is a wonderful thing.

Do something special for the dad in your life, whether it be dad, grandpa, husband, uncle or friend. Each one contributes to your life's memories. Let them know how much you love and appreciate all that they do for you and your home, after all they are special.

Remember God made man first and then woman came along.

THE OLD ONE

I received this today in an email and thought I would share it with you. It is so uplifting and encouraging. Enjoy!

THE OLD ONE

A brother and sister had made their usual hurried, obligatory pre-

Christmas visit to the little farm where dwelt their elderly

Parents with their small herd of horses. The farm was where they

Had grown up and had been named Lone Pine Farm because of the huge

Pine, which topped the hill behind the farm. Through the years the

Tree had become a talisman to the old man and his wife, and a

Landmark in the countryside. The young siblings had fond memories

Of their childhood here, but the city hustle and bustle added more

Excitement to their lives, and called them away to a different life.

The old folks no longer showed their horses, for the years had

Taken their toll, and getting out to the barn on those frosty

Mornings was getting harder, but it gave them a reason to get up in

The mornings and a reason to live. They sold a few foals each

Year, and the horses were their reason for joy in the morning and

Contentment at day's end.

Angry, as they prepared to leave, the young couple confronted the

Old folks "Why do you not at least dispose of The Old One." She

Is no longer of use to you. It's been years since you've had foals

From her. You should cut corners and save so you can have more for

Yourselves. How can this old worn out horse bring you anything but

Expense and work? Why do you keep her anyway?"

The old man looked down at his worn boots, holes in the toes,

Scuffed at the barn floor and replied, " Yes, I could use a pair of

New boots. His arm slid defensively about the Old One's neck as he

Drew her near with gentle caressing he rubbed her softly behind her

Ears. He replied softly, "We keep her because of love. Nothing

Else, just love."

Baffled and irritated, the young folks wished the old man and his

Wife a Merry Christmas and headed back toward the city as darkness

Stole through the valley. The old couple shook their heads in

Sorrow that it had not been a happy visit. A tear fell upon their

Cheeks. How is it that these young folks do not understand the

Peace of the love that filled their hearts?

So it was, that because of the unhappy leave-taking, no one noticed

The insulation smoldering on the frayed wires in the old barn.

None saw the first spark fall. None but the "Old One".

In a matter of minutes, the whole barn was ablaze and the hungry

Flames were licking at the loft full of hay. With a cry of horror

And despair, the old man shouted to his wife to call for help as he

Raced to the barn to save their beloved horses. But the flames were

Roaring now, and the blazing heat drove him back. He sank sobbing

To the ground, helpless before the fire's fury. His wife back from

Calling for help cradled him in her arms, clinging to each other,

They wept at their loss.

By the time the fire department arrived, only smoking, glowing

Ruins were left, and the old man and his wife, exhausted from their

Grief, huddled together before the barn. They were speechless as

They rose from the cold snow covered ground. They nodded thanks to

The firemen as there was nothing anyone could do now. The old man

Turned to his wife, resting her white head upon his shoulders as

His shaking old hands clumsily dried her tears with a frayed red

Bandana.. Brokenly he whispered, "We have lost much, but God has

Spared our home on this eve of Christmas. Let us gather strength

And climb the hill to the old pine where we have sought comfort in

Times of despair. We will look down upon our home and give thanks

To God that it has been spared and pray for our beloved most

Precious gifts that have been taken from us.

And so, he took her by the hand and slowly helped her up the snowy

Hill as he brushed aside his own tears with the back of his old and

Withered hand.

The journey up the hill was hard for their old bodies in the steep

Snow. As they stepped over the little knoll at the crest of the

Hill, they paused to rest, looking up to the top of the hill the

Old couple gasped and fell to their knees in amazement at the

Incredible beauty before them.

Seemingly, every glorious, brilliant star in the heavens was caught

Up in the glittering, snow-frosted branches of their beloved pine,

And it was aglow with heavenly candles. And poised on its top most

Bough, a crystal crescent moon glistened like spun glass. Never had

a mere mortal created a Christmas tree such as this. They were

breathless as the old man held his wife tighter in his arms.

Suddenly, the old man gave a cry of wonder and incredible joy.

Amazed and mystified, he took his wife by the hand and pulled her

forward. There, beneath the tree, in resplendent glory, a mist

hovering over and glowing in the darkness was their Christmas

gift. Shadows glistening in the night light.

Bedded down about the "Old One" close to the trunk of the tree, was

the entire herd, safe.

At the first hint of smoke, she had pushed the door ajar with her

muzzle and had led the horses through it. Slowly and with great

dignity, never looking back, she had led them up the hill, stepping

cautiously through the snow. The foals were frightened and dashed

about. The skittish yearlings looked back at the crackling, hungry

flames, and tucked their tails under them as they licked their lips

and hopped like rabbits. The mares that were in foal with a new

years crop of babies, pressed uneasily against the "Old One" as she moved calmly up the hill and to safety beneath the pine. And now,

she lay among them and gazed at the faces of the old man and his

wife. Those she loved she had not disappointed. Her body was

brittle with years, tired from the climb, but the golden eyes were

filled with devotion as she offered her gift---

Because of love. Only Because of love.

Tears flowed as the old couple shouted their praise and joy... And

again the peace of love filled their hearts.

The History of ‘Aprons’

This was sent to me in an email and the author’s name wasn’t included, but I just had to share this with you all.

I don’t think our children

Know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma’s apron was to protect the dress underneath, because she only had a few. It was easier to wash aprons than dresses and they used less material, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven. It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears...

From the chicken coop,

The apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.
When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.
And when the weather
Was cold grandma wrapped it around her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove...
Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.
From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls. In autumn, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the paddocks to dinner.
It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.

REMEMBER:
Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool.
Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw.
They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron.
I never caught anything from an apron
But love!

The envelopes on some have creases, tears, stains or possibly writings on them, the patterns don’t.

I cannot say I specialize in any one type as I have a variety of sizes and styles which are mostly woman and children with some men styles and craft items. Sizes range from small to x-tra large, children’s sizes also from small to x-tra large. Come and see at what I have just for you, it’s fun, it’s funky and it keeps you in stylish fashion just for you.

I remember the 60’s as well as I was a part of that era (dating myself) but it was fun as a young girl seeing the fashions change so quickly, granted I didn’t care for some of the styles, a little to risqué for me but I was in love with the hippie generation. Today though I am a little older I look back and see the difference in our kids today from then. I will end on that note as I am saddened a little by today’s standard of living, but I believe we all go through a generation and realize when you get past that age “If Only”

Before The Summer Starts!

It Started Here!

I need to tell this exciting thriller that happened to me last summer as it needs to be said before the new summer starts. Yes it’s a thriller all right depending on you the reader. Let me begin by starting here! I have this thing with bees; don't know why they like me, most likely I have good blood or something like that. Well I was looking outside thru the screen door and watching the birds, they are a funny bunch and I like to see what they are going to do next. All of a sudden right in my face there it was, big, black and ugly, now it wasn't all black it had brown on its body also. The only thing that separated us was the blessed screen. I moved he moved, didn't matter if I moved sideways, forwards or backwards he was there. So I shut the door and walked over to the window, yes folks the stinger face was there looking me straight in the eyes. I just couldn't believe this, what in tar-nation did I did to this big guy, yes he was big, they call them hornets and they come in all sizes. So I shut the window just in case his stinger had a saw on it and he decides he wanted in. Yes I do think on those lines, can't help it I have a large imagination.

Well I decide to go to the store and had forgotten all about my new friend (or my new foe) and was walking out the door, and then at the corner of my eye there he was all throttles go and almost in my face. I screamed and if he had a voice I am sure he screamed also, because he backed off a second enough for me to run into my car and have palpitations, yes the heart beat so darn fast it almost started the car. Folks I am not making this up, it has happened, well on with the show!
Now I did have to come back into the house after the store, so my eyes were all over and my antennas were up. I looked this way that way, up and down as fast as my eyes could move. Yes the coast was clear, I opened the car door stepped out and on my way to the door and thanked the Lord he was not blocking the entrance, yes I left my door unlocked for times such as this!. I got in safely as I also armed myself with a can spray as I walked out of the car.
Now let me tell you this went on for days, I go to the screen, he is there, I go to the window he is there, I go to my office window in the back and he is there. So either this sucker was a set of triplets or he was a magician, how in the world did he know I would be there?? Still baffles me. Well my hubby was starting to get upset with me cause he didn't believe me, I explained what the big bug was doing and he was looking at me like I needed to be put away. Now hubby re-acted that way cause this was a smart bee, yep he had brains. He didn't show up when the old man got home no he was playing hide and seek.
Well I can go on and on cause this was for almost three weeks of my being tormented by this bee. One day I was talking on the phone and looking out the screen, yes two can play the same game, I bugged him and he bugged me. He was always there right in my face with the screen between us, and no, I didn't go out for three weeks I couldn't take the rush I was getting from him. Well while I was yapping away I saw it, I saw a beehive right on my porch's lamp on the wall and a whole stinking family was moving in without even paying the rent.
When hubby came home, oh yes he did start to see him and the others but they never bothered him, I told him the good news and showed him the nest. Now the dear heart says let me fix this and you don't know my man, he has a hard time fixing things so I cried out no wait let’s make a plan first, you gotta be ready for the game. Now this is what he wanted to do, get a jar and when it was nighttime he would put the jar over the beehive, yep folks that’s what he wanted to do. I cried, I screamed, I pleaded no, no please not that! You see he is not gentle, he is clumsy and well gaudy and I knew there would be a fiasco, yep I did.

We had to go out that night and he said when we came home he would do it. We were with friends and of course I told them the plan and they looked at me and shook their heads, they know the hubby too! So they gave us a bigger jar, yes he was going to use a small jar and we went home, I didn't want to go home cause I knew what would happen. So I ran into the house and felt like locking the door on dear heart outside with the jar and getting ready to place it over the hive, yeah right! Yep he missed and the army was angry and the ole man had such strength in him as I never saw him move so fast into the house. We sprayed through the screen and hit that sucker-face bee with all this foam all over his body and he was right there attacking with the family. The saga goes on, he did not die nope he was still there waiting to get me and now my hubby.
Well yes I looked out again from my window and looked up and I saw under the eaves another hive and screamed there’s another hive. Well we have now all kinds of bug spray and it shoots 25 feet and honey-do aimed high, the hive was fully loaded and it was raining bees. But the smaller ones were dying, not king Kong, no he was still going strong until he could go no more. We had the funeral that night with both hives that were now wet and soggy stuffed into the jars and all the bees dead in the jar also. King Kong flew into where who knows, I didn't see him anymore since then. This year I am praying for no bees, and with God you generally get what you ask for, most of the time that is!

Spring Has Sprung!

Well it finally hit home that it is spring. I saw my first wasp yesterday and know the battle is yet to begun! Yep those pesky buggers are all around, like where in the world do they go to keep warm in the freezing winter and then to show their lovely stingers bright and early in the morning?
So I got my cans ready for the war on the wasps, yellow jackets and hornets. I must be real sweet as they like to hang around me and my home. Someday I will be an over comer. Gee I wonder if they have a 12 Step program for fear of bees.
Any ways I am so excited to see the sun and get out there and do what I do best, "Look for that one-of-a-kind eclectic item for you. Here in PA there are more garage sales than food stores, really I am not kidding. I guess people accumulate so much stuff during the winter months, by the time spring rolls around they want it out of the house, and that makes me a happier garage saler!
Now I will be able to go to the auctions again, the estate sales and more, oh and of course on Saturdays I am selling at the flea market, yes 7th heaven. I am looking forward for all the great finds I can fine, some for me and some for you! Aren't I nice?
