Today post is all about the best and the worst Mexican restaurant in Antwerp by our personal opinion. We chosen two restaurants that gave us a personal impression.

Today is the battle between Tropicos and Gringo's Cantina!

We start with our favorite called Tropicos. If you like Mexican/Brazilian food and your staying in cold Belgium this is the restaurant to be! You start of with warm chips served with guacamole. Than order crispy tacos that are filled with a good taste of beef and sour-cream. We also recommend the Brazilian ribs that are served with sweet and sour sauce and real Brazilian beef Picania! You have a huge choice from different cocktails with mojito, bleu curracao, tequila, etc... The restaurant gives you all the good vibes of Mexico and Brazil combined. Also the restaurant gives you welcome feeling and waiters are always happy to help.

This restaurant gets a 4 out of 5 stars on the Stew Scale! Everything is amazing only its a bit pricey.
Don't get scared of the pictures the appeal on the photos that we took is not great but trust us the food is to die for!

Gringo's Cantina had allot of costumers in the weekend. They do not take any reservations so there is a possibility you can wait over 90 minutes at the bar. We had a feeling that this place has a good reputation. The inside of the restaurant had a cute design like it was all hand crafted. It is nice but did not has that Mexican touch. When the waitress came she told us we couldn't do any changes on the menu. We started off with still water and a mojito. It wasn't bad but after a first sip we know we had better in other restaurant's. Off course you can not review a restaurant without ordering food. We ordered enchilada and some guacamole on the side. At first it looked all good but it was strange to eat guacamole out of a plastic container. The food was not that satisfying. We left feeling full but not happy.

This restaurant gets a 2 out of 5 stars on the Stew Scale! We would not recommend this place but we had to try it for our lovely readers. But as Latin food lovers we would always come back to Tropicos for our cravings.

First place in Antwerp that serve croque monsieur all day!

FABIOLA!

You can make your own croque with any ingredients from the menu that your little heart desires. Its perfect place to eat for brunch and after shopping day. We had croque with pineapple, ham, bacon, dry and/or red onions, mozzarella. You can get many more combinations with many more ingredients! We also had an omelet, two small salads and three drinks for only 20 euros. They have music of the good old day's to make you feel nostalgic. Everywhere you look you see photo's and objects of queen Fabiola in typical old flemish interior designed space.

For tourist its hard to find this restaurant because its located in a small side-street.

We recommend this restaurant not only for the good price but for the good service and the many tasty combinations you can make with the food. If you feel for a croque monsieur or croque madam you have to go to Fabiola!

This is for our Ladies readers, what to expect in Spring/Summer 2012. I know we are just getting into winter season and it might be to early to talk about warm seasons but if you are going over your closet now to put away summer clothes and to maybe thinking of getting rid of some summer things as least you will know what would be great to keep for next warm season. Here is a little trend sneak peak from clothes to accessories; Get ready for a lot of brights, combinations of multi pastel colors, bright floral and geometric prints. Pastel color Sequence tops, semi-sheer knits and metallic yarns. Feminine and delicate feel all thought out collections for Spring/Summer 2012. I say a lot of looks are very 1950s inspired, great time to hit a good vintage store for some of these looks!

Fair Food cafe.

You like breakfast but you were parting or working all night or you have no job and you are not an earlybird? You can go to Fair Food! They normally have breakfast till 12:00 PM but most of the times ( like today) they served us till 05:00 PM. We had like a 'Boeren omelet' (omelet with tomatoes, paprika's and mushrooms including healthy dark bread on the side ), salad with goat cheese and apples , coffee and thee. It's not a Michelin restaurant but its defiantly a good cafe that you leave with a satisfied feeling. For the food mentioned above we paid around 30 euros. They have also 3 kind of soups and different kind of salads. All food is organic.

The place itself has rather a vintage feeling. For the summer they have a nice sitting outside. Its on the antique shopping streets so it perfectly fits in the environment. In the cafe they sell organic products like beer, orange juice, liqueur,........

Tea time!

When Thomas an I have our tea time, we use these cups now because they make our tea time so much more special!

I went to a local Habitat store in Antwerp the other day looking for a birthday gift…. while wondering around the store I saw a new table set with these beautiful, with totally original prints on dishes, each piece is one of a kind art work (prints are mixture of fine art + graffiti)! I almost cried because they reminded me so much of few Brooklyn stores that have these type of style things and dish ware. They are sooo New York! I could not resist and get us a tea set. I wish I can have a whole set. :-(
This set was designed by an Italian girl who just graduated from Royal Collage of Art in London. I am all about helping the young talent!
They are all made from Porcelain (Fine Bone China), so that makes them very delicate and light. You can not microwave and put them in dishwasher. I think this is something that you will not be embarrassed to pass to your grandkids, I tell you that. They might even think that you were really cool at some point in life. :-)

Theyskens' Theory's wedges they are so original and elegant. These statement shoes demand full attention! Everyone who knows me, know that I love wedges, these are one of my favorite wedges for this Fall. I love the way the upper looks, like a suede shoes have been dipped in black shiny paint just half way.

Thanks to these shoes I am on the same eye level with my boyfriend. :-)

iOS 5 problems!

I downloaded the iOS 5 and had internal errors! When I try to reboot my Iphone it gives problems. At this moment i would not recommend to download iOS 5. I would wait for a couple of days when the Apple IT people fix the bugs. My luck that I read different other blogs. I saw that allot of users have the same problem.

Wishing Steve Jobs was here to help me out!

For all you Iphone lovers this is the day we all have been waiting for! Ever since we bought the Iphone we just found it a piece of ART! Some blogs are writing that the iOS 5 can be downloaded for free around 9 or 10 AM California time. In Belgium time that would be around 6 or 7 PM. We don't know if the update will be available on the same time in Belgium. If you have a American Itunes account you can get it maybe faster! We will give you the latest information about iOS 5 when its uploaded! Lets cross our fingers!

I have to disappoint you by telling that you can not travel to the future with this shoes but you will walk with style in the present! These shoes give me a back to the future feeling but they have a twist of old-school build in it. If you want to be super fly or megatronic cool, you will never lose class with these Maison Martin Margiela shoes. They are a bit of pricey but there is no price on art. We did not see them allot in Antwerp so you could be a trend-setter!

This post is for Girlz of Antwerp. Well… maybe Boyz will be interested as well. It’s sooooo expensive to maintain yourself here in Antwerp. To get a Basic Manicure is 25 Euros and UP! Won’t you agree?! And I am sorry but I can not do mani + padi myself maybe just my left hand and my left foot. But don’t be discouraged! I found an amazing Beauty expert! Monica is an amazing beautician in the Center of Antwerp, she graduated Beauty school in Belgium. She charges from 10 Euros for a Basic manicure and up for extra things if you want French manicure or Gel nails. She is also amazing at doing fake eyelashes. I just made mine today - check out the photos above! No make up needed now! A friend of mine has them already for over 1 month and you can also step by and see Monica if they need to be refreshed or fixed. If you are interested in making appointment with her please post me a comment and I will give her contact info!

Coming from NY I noticed that its pretty hard to find t-shirts with COOL prints here. I think New Yorkers are pretty spoiled when it comes to things like that. There are SO many t-shirt companies in big apple. I think if anyone is interested to sell t-shirts with great prints, it’s definitely a hole in the market here.

Salt and Pepper shaker in one - can choose between multi colored that looks like a children puzzle toy or more sophisticated matte black finish

We had to have this candle not only it has a great smell but its 100% Natural soy wax! Natural fragrance using only pure essential oils. No paraffin, synthetic perfume, lead or animal products!

We chose "Karmameju" smell of Eucalyptus,Ylang Ylang and Cedarwood for our home.

We love these light, super warm (all shearling inside) nylon puffy moon booties -product of Sweden

We love these colors! When you look at all these headphones you just want to have all these colors, so we could not make a pick and walked away.

Moose in the City is a brand new store that just opened in Antwerp few weeks ago. All product from clothes to design products that they have in the store are from Sweden and Denmark.

In terms of clothes, you can find mostly classic outdoor sport clothes. nothing too edgy, trendy. But what we really like in this store are their unique selection of Design products from table top design to home decoration.

A place where fashion and healthy food comes together. We call this place Lombardia. Photo's of Designers like Walter Van Beirendonck and musicians like Moby and Faithless are put on display. You can go for fresh juices and all kind of vegan and vegetarian food. We start of with fresh pressed orange juice with ginger. You can get bread, croissants that are all gluten-free and our favorite -homemade mayo thats dairy-free that goes so delicious with tuna salad.
