Is it a surprise that you always seem to feel better when you focus on the positive things that surround you? The actual act of focusing on the positive in order to produce more positive emotions has a deep connection to your body and health as well.

If you look for things that could potentially be wrong with your body, you are indeed going to find many. The possibility of pains, lumps, bumps, rough spots etc.. But if you actually try to take a look at what’s right and great about your body, you will be better for it. If you have a pain in your left shoulder, you can actually express gratitude that you don’t have the pain in your right shoulder. Our bodies are miracles and are not made to get sick. We tend to take for granted the incredible functions going on in our bodies non-stop each and every second of every day.

We will always have a choice on whether to focus on the positive or the negative and there is only one right choice. Choosing the positive, will also enable us to heal when we need to.

So many times in life there appears an all to recognizable roadblock in our personal growth and development that truly keeps up from our obtaining our goals. That roadblock is worry. Beating this foe can help you to get back on track towards working on your goals. We all want to experience more happiness and self empowerment in our lives.

Our body’s biochemistry is not able to distinguish between imagined worries and real stressors in our life. When we worry, our body releases the same stress hormones (cortisol, among others) as it does during truly traumatic events. Keeping the body in a state of heightened stress can lead to a degradation of physical health such as ulcers, high blood pressure, headaches, weight gain, insomnia and more.

There are many ways in which people overcome worry. Below are a few simple tips that are a great starting point:

- Remain mindful and remember that your thoughts create your reality. This means living in the present and being gratful for NOW.
- If our thoughts create our reality, why would we not select the best, most positive thoughts to create our lives? Replace those thoughts of worry and fear with positive, happy images.

- “Instead of asking yourself, ‘What else could go wrong?’ ask: ‘How good can it get?’” Everything is perspective.

A nice long breath brings great health and transformation. It oxygenates the body and nurtures the life force. Reactions to stress can have a debilitating effect on health. It can lead to high blood pressure, a rapid resting pulse rate and can cause heart rhythm disturbances. Your bodies reactions to stress can weaken the immune system, which then can lead to a myriad of illnesses. It is important to learn how to handle stress. Mindful breathing and meditation has been shown to help a person manage stressful situations by increasing one’s awareness and by making the mind more receptive to one’s current situation and internal states. It is a method of fully embracing with minimal resistance one’s current life situation and internal states.

That being stated, living in constant rush and over activity we are insensitive to the most beautiful gift jewel we carry inside of us. A nice long guided breath can improve productivity. A nice breath oxygenates, energizes and cleans our bodies. It clears our mind and helps to balance our emotions. It is preventive medicine. The immeasurable health effects of physical exercising, the pleasure of sex or the silence of meditation are all directly related to our breathing. Mindful breathing is a way toward self empowerment and conscious evolution. Self empowerment is important if you want to get on the road to success.

One very important function of our breathing is hugely forgotten: it gives our body a healing massage from the inside. The movement of our diaphragm, which is the big breathing muscle in the center of our body, gives a constant massage to our inner organs in belly and chest. It cleanses them from waste, allows good circulation, oxygen supply and keeps us young and healthy. Just 5 minutes each day can make you feel more refreshed and energetic. Here are some pointers for practicing mindful breathing and sitting:

Make a special time and place for “non–doing”.

Adopt an alert and relaxed body posture.

Look dispassionately at the reactions and habits of your mind.

Bring your attention to your breathing by counting silently “1” on inhalation and “2” on exhalation, “3” on inhalation, etc. When you reach number “10”, return to number “1”. (If you go beyond the number 10, then you know your mind has wandered).

When your mind wanders, name what it wanders to and come back to the breathing.

Once you have practiced focusing on your breathing, you can use sensation, sound or watching thoughts as your point of concentration.

What is EFT?

EFT is a powerful new discovery that combines two well established sciences so you can benefit from both at the same time:

Mind Body Medicine

Acupuncture (without needles).

In essence, EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture wherein we stimulate certain meridian points by tapping on them with our fingertips. This addresses a new cause for emotional issues (unbalanced energy meridians). Properly done, this frequently reduces the therapeutic process from months or years down to hours or minutes. And, since emotional stress can contribute to pain, disease and physical ailments, we often find that EFT provides astonishing physical relief.

You will need evidence of this for yourself and so I offer the following for your perusal:

Try it yourself by downloading the EFT Manual for free. It gives you all the basics and allows you to test drive EFT on your own issues (although at a beginner’s level). If you wish to save time and dive right in you can buy our easy to use training Libraries. They will take you from Beginner’s level all the way to Mastery. Interestingly, this process is so easy to use that no previous training is required. Caveat: For people who are emotionally or physically frail, qualified health professionals should be consulted before using ANY health procedure.

Peruse the many studies and experiments on our EFT Research and Science section.

Read the exhaustive list of actual cases on this website. These are written by clients, therapists and physicians and allow you to see EFT’s possibilities through the eyes of those that have already been there. Note the wide variety of successes. This is why one of our sayings is, “Try it on everything.” It is as close to a Universal Healing Aid as anything I’ve seen.

More benefits…

You can make enormous strides by introducing EFT into your emotional therapy process (whether you are a professional or a client). Instead of taking months or years using conventional “talk therapy,” EFT often does the job for you cleanly and thoroughly in one or two sessions … and we sometimes achieve noticeable results in a few brief rounds of EFT. We label these near-instant results as “one minute wonders.”

Once you have seen how well EFT clears out emotional debris, your next step is to notice how physical ailments start to fade. Headaches, back pains and other discomforts often tend to improve or vanish as emotional issues improve (this is the essence of Mind Body Medicine). Your vision may become clearer and everyday stress may take less toll on your system.

Accordingly, you can apply it to just about everything. That is one of the most astonishing things about it. You use the same basic procedure for your fear of public speaking as you do for improving your golf score. You can also use it for everything from the common cold to multiple sclerosis (consult your physician, of course). Further, we have had reported successes for nearly every emotional issue on the books…including fear, trauma, depression, grief and schizophrenia. Some consider it the missing link in the pursuit of health and happiness.

Possible EFT limitations

I’m not saying here that EFT is perfect. We don’t get 100%. But it usually works well and the results are sometimes spectacular. Because of it’s unique approach, it can work where nothing else does and, to many, it represents a Doorway to a new Healing High-Rise.

You will find that EFT is usually quite gentle and you can often achieve substantial relief with little or no pain. This is not true for everyone, however. Some people’s issues are so intense that the mere mention of them causes emotional or physical pain. But, given time, even these may be resolved efficiently with EFT.

A small percentage of our population (best estimate is less than 3%) have serious emotional and physical disabilities and thus newcomers to EFT are advised to exercise common sense in this regard. While you can use EFT to generate impressive relief for many people, please consult qualified health practiitioners where appropriate and don’t go where you aren’t qualified.

Meditation has been preached as a means to remain happy and youthful for thousands and thousands of years. It is stated that meditation manifests a state of restfulness that is much deeper than sleep. A myriad of studies already prove that meditation provides for a better flow of blood to our brains, which in turn greatly decrease stress hormones.

While mental peace and happiness are real goals of meditation, so is mindfulness. the act of chanting and breathing are so powerful that they assist you in being in the “NOW.”
Being in the present is all that we can control and mindfulness allows us to enter into a true meditative state. Mindful meditation can take our spiritual consciousness to an entirely different level and greatly affects our conscious evolution in a very positive and uplifting manner.

While it is important to set goals and be prepared for the future, meditation allows you to set it all aside for a few moments and concentrate on your inner self. Meditation will help you face the issues, conondrums of real life with a pure, clear mind, body and spirit. Your awareness spirituality will be improved tenfold with regular mindful meditation practice.

So often in life there is one obstacle in our personal growth and development that truly keeps up from our goals. That obstacle is worry. Beating this foe can help move you quicker to your goals in life. We all want to experience more joy and self empowerment in our lives.

There are many ways to overcome worry. I have found one of the most direct and simple ways by Dale Carnegie. His simple approach is as follows

Ask yourself, “what is the worst that can possibly happen”.

Prepare to accept the worst.

Try to improve on the worst.

Beating worry is not only good for your spiritual consciousness, it does so much for your overall general health and well-being.

A friend of my parents told me that one of his teenage daughters, a high school student, had been consistently down in the dumps this past year, showcasing some classical signs of clinical depression. So he and her mom took the girl to see a naturopath, who immediately took her completely off refined sugar and restructured her diet in other ways.

As spring began a few weeks later, the daughter was feeling healthier, more positive and stronger than in years and seemingly back to her old happy self, says Dad. He gives the credit to her new diet and adds, “With the rush to treat ‘down’ kids with drugs, there may be other better and far less expensive alternatives.”

Young adults and teenagers have so much going on emotionally and psychologically that parents should first of all take pains to sort out whether a child is in fact depressed or simply going through the usual struggles of their age bracket.

“If you have a teenager who’s socially reclusive, or at least more withdrawn at home, more sullen at home, mood swings … those may be signs of depression, but they also are very much signs of being a teenager.”

Prescription drugs should definitely not be the first call to action in treating depression in teens or anyone else. “The literature’s pretty mixed on how effective medications actually are in treating depression. The problem with medication, is that it doesn’t even begin to address to root causes of the depression.
Acupuncture has been demonstrated to be very effective for many conditions; it can be effective for anxiety and stress management under certain conditions.

What is needed is a full evaluation by a professional who has experience with both clinical depression and adolescents and who is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy.

Massage is no more effective at cutting anxiety than deep breathing and soothing music, say US researchers.

The study of 68 people, reported in Depression and Anxiety, showed anxiety symptoms were cut in half for those given ten massage sessions over a period of three months.

But those given relaxation therapy, which is much cheaper, improved by the same amount.

Massage experts say the primary aim of massage is to treat damage to soft tissue rather than relaxation.

The study looked at people with generalised anxiety disorder, a condition involving excessive worry that makes normal life difficult.

The patients were given one of three treatments. One group had massage. The other two groups had relaxation therapy (breathing deeply while lying down) or thermotherapy (having their arms and legs wrapped up intermittently with heating pads and warm towels).

“ We were surprised to find that the benefits of massage were no greater than those of the same number of sessions of ‘thermotherapy’ or listening to relaxing music ”
Karen Sherman, lead researcher

All three therapies were given in a relaxing environment with soft lighting and quiet music.

At the end of the treatments, all three groups reported their anxiety had decreased by about 40% – and about 50% three months later.

Lead researcher, Dr Karen Sherman from the Seattle based Group Health Centre for Health Studies said they were surprised to find that the benefits of massage were no greater than those of the same number of sessions of ‘thermotherapy’ or listening to relaxing music.

“This suggests that the benefits of massage may be due to a generalised relaxation response,” she said.

“Treatment in a relaxing room is much less expensive than the other treatments (massage or thermotherapy), so it might be the most cost-effective option for people with generalised anxiety disorder who want to try a relaxation-oriented complementary medicine therapy.”

Tension

But massage organisations pointed out that massage aims to do more than relax people.

Susan Findlay, spokesman for the General Council for Massage Therapies, said massage was not just about dealing with emotional issues and relaxation.

“Massage therapists do corrective work with soft tissue such as muscles and tendons. They try to make these tissues work as well as possible,” she said.

“However, by releasing tension in a shoulder for example, massage may also reduce pain and so make the person feel more relaxed.

“This can give the person being treated a powerful psychological boost.”

I have long stated that a positive and optimistic attitude towards your health will armor your immune system. Along with healthy diet, exercise, meditation, your attitude is vital to your overall health. Picture your mind, body and spirit as three equal parts of a triangle. Each of the three parts must remain strong and in tune with the others. Then and only then are you achieving true over all health. Below is further support for this notion.

Optimistic expectancies affect many psychosocial outcomes and may also predict immune system changes and health, but the nature and mechanisms of any such physiological effects have not been identified. The present study related law-school expectancies to cell-mediated immunity (CMI), examining the within- and between-person components of this relationship and affective mediators. First-year law students (N = 124) completed questionnaire measures of expectancies and affect and received delayed-type hypersensitivity skin tests at five time points. A positive relationship between optimistic expectancies and CMI occurred: Changes in optimism correlated with changes in CMI. Likewise, changes in optimism predicted changes in positive and, to a lesser degree, negative affect, but the relationship between optimism and immunity was partially accounted for only by positive affect. This dynamic relationship between expectancies and immunity has positive implications for psychological interventions to improve health, particularly those that increase positive affect.
