Plasma TVs are a better fit for 3D images display vis-à-vis LCD sets, according to Consumer Reports study of 14 3D TV models. They found that the plasma TVs cause less ghosting, or double images that appear even when wearing 3D glasses.

Overall quality of 3D varied quite a bit among the 14 models, according to test engineers. They used 3D test patterns developed in-house, as well as 3D Blu-ray movies and recorded 3D sports broadcasts. All the 3D TVs were capable of creating impressive three-dimensional depth.

Panasonic plasma sets exhibited the least ghosting of any of the 3D TVs followed by plasma TVs from LG and Samsung.

By contrast, Sony's LCD TVs ghosting was minimal, but only when the viewer's head was kept level; ghosting became severe when the viewer's head was tilted even slightly. On the LG and Samsung LCD TVs, images had satisfying three-dimensional depth, but ghosting, which was significant in a wide variety of content, was distracting when apparent. All the tested 3D TVs, with one exception, performed very well with regular 2D programmes.

Consumer Reports found varying levels of comfort among different 3D glasses and warns users that some people might have trouble seeing 3D images or find that they develop headaches or eyestrain from watching 3D.

Early this morning, it came to my thought of creating a very simple, and yet a very useful blogsite dedicated for young children to help them learn the basic of mathematics in a very easy and convenient way.

Learning this basic things at the earliest stage of their lives would make it easier for them to deal with the higher level of mathematics, like Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and even Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Differential Equation, and other subjects that needs these skills.

Looking back on my own experience, even if I was already in my first year college, I had difficulties in dealing with simple and yet useful basic principles in mathematics. As a result, I couldn't be able to overtake those who had the solid foundation of the basic principles in mathematics.

When I had finally learned it, and that was after I finished my Engineering course for five years, I had realized that, should I had all those needed simple things as solid foundation, then I wouldn't have any difficulty in dealing with the higher level of mathematics.

So, in this planned blogsite for young children, I will reveal the basic principles that young children should learn by their heart and mind in order to make their lives easier when they are already in high school and in college, or even higher education levels.

I would like to encourage parents to examine this future blogsite dedicated for their young children to help them on their mathematical developments. Also, I would like to encourage those teachers and other experts to contribute their knowledge and experience to this area to help achieve the goal of this site.

It's a very good and useful technology that will inform parents through text messages the status of their children: time of their arrival at the school, time they left the school and even the status of the school activities whether or not their class sessions are cancelled.

Surely, with this method of monitoring children will attract more parents and consider sending their children to the Marikina Catholic School.

How I wish all schools and universities will implement this same technology to address those common concerns parent have for their children.

Without a proper knowledge of the thing we want to buy, oftentimes, we ended up buying the better, but not the right thing.
If you want to find out which is better, iPhone or Blackberry, then below is the summary of the comments from those people who have a good experience to at least one of it.

One guy said, “iPhone is nothing more than a nonsense since it lacks even the basic features. Blackberry is also over priced useless device which is only meant for emailing nothing more.” He suggested that “if you are a professional go for a Blackberry ignoring its ridiculous price, not as ridiculous as iphone though.”

Another guy had totally disagreed the above comments and gave his own by providing one of the very many uses of iPhone as follows: “Say you want to ring a store - on the iPone you can look up their internet site, if that contains their telephone number you just tap it with your finger. The phone asks you if you want to ring that number and then will do that for you automatically.”

A lady, an initiator of this topic conversations said that she had both and found the iPhone really easy to use for almost everything. However, she also said “It's not great for email management when you have hundreds of emails to sort, but it is great for moderate email use. Battery is terrible though! ...I still love my iPhone though!”

The second guy made a second comment saying that he loves iPhone, too. He further said “My battery is fine at home, but train trips to London and back (2hrs each way) seem to use quite a lot of battery - I guess that it may be because it is searching for networks for quite a lot of that time.”

A third guy, who doesn’t have an iPhone, but have been looking into it as well as the Droid, gave his opinion saying, “the Blackberry is getting passed by very quickly. It is still hands down the best for email, but business these days is much more than email. They don't have many apps, I have to pull out the battery to reboot several times a day, the browser is pretty much non-existent, and you have to have a BES if you want to sync to your Exchange server. It has become too costly and way behind the times.”

A fourth guy said “Blackberry remains the best choice for email and ranks superior for phone reliability. Granted, iPhone dazzles with more applications and some are actually useful for long-term use, rather a once or twice novelty. He said further “my Blackberry offers the same search features for businesses, etc. and automatic dialing. I hit the track ball, however, rather than using a touch screen.

Interestingly, cell phone use for actual voice calls (what a concept) trails data usage 49 percent to 37 percent according to a recent study. Mobile internet use caused a dramatic shift in consumers "need" to have constant connection.

Since email management and reliable phone service rank high with me, I'll stick with my Blackberry until something beats it.”

The fifth and the last guy said “I have had a Blackberry, then an iPhone and now a Droid, Blackberry was far better for business related applications and uses, My IPhone was not as business friendly and drop calls all the time with a very short battery life. I have only had the droid for a little over a week and am still getting used to it but I do have some pros and cons on it already. So it comes down to what you are looking for.”

And my comment is, when it comes to battery life, “More applications mean more power consumption. So, don't wonder why battery life is very short.”

In terms of display, Apple iPhone 4 is the winner.

The screens on all three phones equate to big, bigger and biggest, with 3.5 inches on the iPhone, 4.0 on the Captivate and 4.3 on the Evo 4G. So how does the smallest one win? In regards to connectivity, Evo 4G is the winner.

With both the Captivate and iPhone 4 sharing AT&T’s infamously hobbled 3G network, and the Evo wearing its first-4G-phone-in-America pin, this one’s a no-brainer. Besides the sheer speed, it’s also the only one that can double as a Wi-Fi router to share connectivity with other devices.

For the Rear Camera, Apple iPhone 4 is again the winner.

Playing it by the numbers doesn’t lead to any clear-cut conclusion between the remaining contenders. Samsung rates the Captivate for five hours and 50 minutes of talk time and 340 hours of standby, while Apple rates the iPhone for seven hours of chatting and 300 hours of standby, making the Captivate the standby champ and iPhone 4 the king of talk time. While we’re inclined to favor talk time over standby, battery life seemed to play out roughly equally on these two in our real-life tests, so Digital Trends is calling it a draw.

To make the story short, the winner for Portability is Samsung Captivate it the winner, for Speed, there’s again a draw between Apple iPhone 4 and Samsung Captivate, for the storage, Samsung Captivate is the winner.

And the “Overall Winner” is the Apple iPhone 4!

The Evo 4G made an impressive showing as the very first 4G phone back in June, but as you can see, it doesn’t hold up nearly as well under the microscope in other categories – at least when stacked against the best other smartphones in the world. For more than 10 months already, with God’s blessings and protection, none of our children was hospitalized because of the common children sicknesses (colds, coughs, allergies, etc.) which are normally part of children’s life as they’re growing up.

CFC General Assembly at AIT

These are some of the pictures we had taken after our CFC general assembly held at AIT today.

Right after the talk about Financial Stewardships at around 4 P.M., all of us had partaken a very heavy and delicious meal - an early dinner- near the session hall at the AIT center, beside the swimming pool during the fellowship part of the activity.

While waiting for the next special event of the day "the 25th Happy Wedding Anniversary of our CFC brother Vic and his wife, sister Emily", we were resting and taking pictures at the lobby of the AIT center.

At 6:00 P.M., Art and Laarni, our previous household leaders, together with their son Vince, brought us to Pinehurst Golf Club Restaurant where the said special occasion was held.

Somaliland (Somalia) Business Trip

This was my first trip in the African continent in 2008. This is in the Hargiesa, Somaliland - the breakaway region of Somalia.

I went there, together with our two engineers who installed the broadcast equipments, to meet our first African broadcast client in the country.

My other purpose was to close another deal for another broadcast client I had communicated with about two months before the trip.

Seeing the lack of manpower we had, I helped out our engineers in the installation as you can see in the second picture.

It was my first real experience in the technical things about the actual installation of broadcast parabolic antenna. Though I had lectured it many times during my more than 12 years in the academe, the excitement about this was still there.

I was supposed to comeback there in 2009 for our government broadcast client, but because of some urgent matters, I cancelled my scheduled trip.

The last picture shows my team and the staffs of our client. It was after 10 days when the installation was done and the trainings for the staffs were completed.

We then had our very big lunch with all the staffs of our client at the hotel where we stayed before going back to Bangkok, Thailand. It was our way of saying thank you to all of them for receiving us warmly, and for becoming our first customer in that region.

With God's blessings and protections, we're able to come back safe and sound.

Danger of Standalone ATM Machines

Today, the bad guys have used so many types of attacks on ATM machines, especially those that are standalone ATM machines, ranging from sophisticated to foolhardy: installing fake card readers to steal card numbers, hiding tiny surveillance cameras to capture PIN codes, covering the dispensing slot to intercept money and even hauling the ATMs away with trucks in hopes of cracking them open later.

The attacks were demonstrated Wednesday by a computer hacker, Barnaby Jack who spent two years tinkering in his Silicon Valley apartment with ATMs he bought online.

Though the demonstrations were targeting standalone ATMs, but according to him, the methods could potentially be used against the ATMs operated by mainstream banks.

Jack said the problem is that outsiders are permitted to bypass the need for a password.

Elevator Punges at Pattaya Hotel

Another tragedy had occurred in one of the crowded tourist areas in the kingdom of Thaialnd, in Pattaya at the Welcome Jomtien Hotel on Saturday when an elevator plunges 10 floors injuring 16 people.

According to the news, the group had entered the lift at the 18th floor before an unknown power failure resulted in the lift freefalling 10 floors before hitting the ground level.
