Pralhad Keshav Atre known as Āchārya Atre His teaching career spanned 20-years, at the height of which, he ran a high school as its principal. He compiled a series of Marathi language textbooks for elementary and secondary schools, which were widely used in in Maharashtra State for several years.
In his autobiography Atre has devoted one full chapter to Cambridge educated mathematician Wrangler R.P.Paranjpe whose personality made a tremendous impact on him when he was studying for his BA degree at Ferguson College in Pune where R.P. Paranjpe was principal. He has also acknowledged the influence Professor Sir Percy Nunn (Principal of London Day Training College) and P.B. Ballard ( A senior inspector in the education department of London County Council)had on his work in the field of education and also that of H.R.Hamley (Principal of the Secondary Training College, Bombay). He has also stated that his style of oratory was greatly influenced by Prof. Ballard whose lectures he attended in London. The other professors at London Day Training College whose influence on him Atre acknowledges in his autobiography are Messrs Cyril Burt ( An educational psychologist), James Fairgrieve ( A geographer and educator ) and John Dover Wilson ( professor and scholar of Renaissance drama).
Atre's contributions to Marathi literature have been listed under Important works below. He was an outstanding humorist, and his writing style — whether he wrote humorous or serious material — was highly effective. He introduced parodistic poetry to Marathi language under the pseudonym Keshav Kumār. His book, Jhenduchi Phule, is a collection of his parodistic poems.
Atre wrote seven plays; some of them had a humorous theme while others, a serious one. All of them received high public acclaim. His comedy-play, Moruchi Mavshi was later adapted into Hindi film, Aunty No. 1 (1998), starring Govinda and Raveena Tandon.
Atre's two autobiographical works, Mi Kasā Jhālo and Karheche Pāni, similarly received much public acclaim. Atre was the founder–editor of four Marathi newspapers. Two of them had a short life. But the other two, Maratha and (Weekly) Navayug, ran for many years with a large circulation.
Atre also became known for his public feud with another well known Marathi author of his times Prof. N.S.Phadke. Several years later however there was a public reconciliation between these two in the city of Pune.
Atre had studied Urdu language in depth. He while writing under the pseudonym Maulana Allauddin Khilji, ridiculed the predilection of the Marathi poets of those times of using not easily understood Sanskrit words and using bigger than life comparisons.(He wrote a poem, Shyamale, under this whimsical pen name Maulānā Allāuddin Khilji).
Known for his straight forward views in his writing he was called 'Writer & Fighter Of Maharashtra' by Former Indian President Dr.K.R.Narayanan.
Atre was one of the defendants in the then well known "People's Own" litigation but was acquitted as being innocent by Mr. Justice Broomfield of Bombay High Court.( He had earlier been convicted by a lower court judge by name Gundil in Pune)
Atre's worthy contributions in the Marathi movie world have been listed below. His movie Shyamchi Aai (1953) received an award as the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 1953, while his movie Mahatma Phule (1955) received the President's Silver Medal.
Atre was an important political leader of his times in Maharashtra, and he worked vigorously in the Sanyukta Mahārāshtra Āndolan (Unified Maharashra Movement) during 1956-60. As recently as December 2011 at a function presided over by a noted Marathi literary figure D. M. Mirasdar and attended by Shiv Sena leader Uddhava Thakare & his daughters Mrs.Shirish Pai & Mrs. Deshpande a DVD of his speeches related to this movement was released. He possessed extraordinary oratory skills, humor being a captivating feature of his speeches.

<director>Mangesh kadam</director>

Pathlag

<img margin: 2,2,2,2; src='http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/7796/pathlaag.jpg' height='180px' width='150px' style='float:left;'> BALASAHEB PAANSE, an eminent lawyer is hurriedly summoned back from his trip Abroad, as his wife ASHA is critical. The main hero of the film Rajesh keeps on making frequent appearances in between the screenplay in different forms, begging before the three women to vacate his bunglow, as his newly wedded wife Sharmila would only then agree to celebrate their honeymoon there. One wonders, as to why he couldn’t celebrate his honeymoon elsewhere? But, then how would the film progress further? So, Rajesh seeks help from the trio comprising of Amit, Dharmendra and Jitendra to drive away these three women from his bungalow. He accommodates them on the Ground floor.
In comes Anil( Aniket) , who has been brought up by the three men in absence of his father and also Madhuri ( Smita Shewale) who has grown up in the shelter of the three women in absence of her mother. While Anil- Madhuri fall in love with each other, in spite of the opposition of their uncles and aunties; the two attendants of the bungalow- Govinda and karishma also fall for each other in a filmi style . Ms. Bhatt is a devotee of one Anna-Baba (Vijay Patkar) who does all his tricks related to superstition, to invite the attention of his devotees.

Ganjendra Ahire’s Hello Ja i H ind! tries to portray the effect of the hor r ifying incident on one such victim. Although the end result is rich in terms of performances.
Having said that, the makers should be appreciated for depicting the life of a victim and throwing light on the shameful fact that terrorist A jma l Ka sab is still not punished for the he inous cr ime.

After the initial few minutes, the film goes on to the flashback mode which shifts the focus from the main issue. Later on, although it was important to show the difficult and realistic life of the cops, the proceedings keep dragging on without coming to the main point.
Finally, there comes the crucial moment at the interval point which raises your expectations for an interesting second half. However, the post-interval portions focus too much on the tr agedy and helplessness of the protagonist with the story hardly moving forward. In addition, two more songs ‘Laut Ke Aane De’ and ‘Ganjalela’ add to the drag.

Well-known music composer Ilayaraja’s Marathi film debut deserves appreciation. The background score and Amalendu Chaudhary’s cinematography are worth mentioning and so are the dialogues.

Performances are the biggest plus points. Art-director-turned-filmmaker Nitin Chandrakant Desai makes his acting debut in a central role and does exceedingly well especially while showing physical disability. Barring few moments, he overall gives a laudable act. Trupti Bhoir in the role of a housewife is terrific. She perfectly fits into her character and gets to deliver some praiseworthy lines.

Rest of the cast Vinay Apte, Kedar Shinde, Ravindra Mankani, Murli Sharma and the actress who plays Durga’s sister chip in with good performances too.

<director>Gajendra Ahire</director>

Daaba Gul

<img margin: 2,2,2,2; src='http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/6387/dabba.jpg' height='180px' width='150px' style='float:left;'> May month is here and all kids are on vacation now !! remember your vacation , you must have had great time, don’t you? According to these writings, a Shakti Peetha is a place associated with Shakti, the goddess of power. The Kolhapur Shakti Peetha is of special religious significance being one of the six places where it is believed that one can either obtain salvation from desires or have them fulfilled. The temple takes its name from Mahalakshmi, the consort of Vishnu, and it is believed that the divine couple reside in the area.
The temple belongs architecturally to the Kannada Chalukya empire and may have been first built in circa 700 AD. Mounted on a stone platform, the image of the four armed and crowned goddess is made of gemstone and weighs about 40 kilograms. The image of Mahalakshmi carved in black stone is 3 feet in height. The Shri Yantra is carved on one of the walls in the temple. A stone lion, the vahana of the goddess, stands behind the statue. The crown contains an image of the Sheshnag — the serpent of Vishnu. In Her four hands, the deity of Mahalakshmi holds objects of symbolic value. The lower right hand holds a mhalunga (a citrus fruit), in the upper right, a large mace (kaumodaki) with its head touching the ground, in the upper left a shield (khetaka), and in the lower left, a bowl (panpatra). Unlike most Hindu sacred images, which face north or east, the image of this deity looks west (Pashchim). There is a small open window on the western wall, through which the light of the setting sun falls on the face of the image for three days around the 21st of each March and September. There are a number of other shrines in the courtyard to the Navagrahas, Surya, Mahishasuramardini, Vitthal-Rakhmai, Shiva, Vishnu, Tulja Bhavani and others. Some of these images date back to the 11th century, while some are of recent origin. Also located in the courtyard is the temple tank Manikarnika Kund, on whose bank is a shrine to Visweshwar Mahadev.
Worship Structure: Five worship services are offered each day. The first one is at 5 am, and it involves the waking of the deity with a Kakada - torch, to the accompaniment of hymns. The second worship service at 8 am involves the offeirng of the Shodashopachara pooja consisting of 16 elements. The afternoon and evening services and the Shejaarati pooja constitute the three other services.
Special Events: A festival image of the deity is taken out in procession around the temple courtyard each Friday, and on full moon days.

<director>Sameer Dharmadhikari</director>

Nana Mama

<img margin: 2,2,2,2; src='http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7669/nanamama2006.jpg' height='180px' width='150px' style='float:left;'> Nana Mama , A Perfect Comedy movie starring Bharat Jadhav , Makarand Anasapure and Vijay Chavan, Movie is really fun bharat (Nana) is Taxi driver and Makarand (Mama) is police inspector who is chasing for DON DD. This movie is story of a rich person struggling to get property of his father , Here is Interview with Rajesh Shringarpure regarding his carrier
Q: Today, you are in the news for your efforts in developing six pack abs. Is that true?
A: Actually, we possess so many things which are suitable to us and some of them not suitable. When I signed for this film ‘Swarajya- Marathi paul Padate Pudhe’, I realised that I have to give a topless shot. When I seriously thought over it, I felt that I should first develop six pack abs, which would suit the most in that shot. So, I expressed my desire to the director and he encouraged me to undergo special training in the Gym. That’s all the truth behind this news.
Q: How did you actually work to achieve results ?
A: I was seriously doing my work out in the Gym and followed the instructions of my special trainer. All those tips were very beneficial related to my diet. I totally avoided junk food during this
period and banked only on home made food.
Q: How did you survive during your period of struggle? You also got married during that period. Tell us something about that.
A: To be very honest, my struggle period is still going on. Prior to marriage my would be knew about my ambition to become an actor and realised that I was 100% focussed on this profession. She being an undestanding and sensible woman, accepted it. There was a time, when after rising up from sleep, I used to think as to how I would to spend that day. Sometimes I used to work for 2-3 days continuously and after that there was no work. During this period, my wife not only supported but also encouraged me a lot.
Q: To become a popular hero of Marathi film, acting is the main criteria. Not much of importance is given towards looks and fitness. What’s your opinion ?
A: Hmmmm. As we notice in Bollywood, the heroes put in lot of efforts in building their body for a particular role, the same thing we don’t see it happen in Marathi film industry. I personally feel that if you are a committed actor, to fulfill the requirement of the role, one must work hard on his body. At least, I am doing it to suit the requirement of my role.
Q: You have simultaneously worked in Hindi as well as Marathi entertainment industry. What difference you notice between these two filelds?
A:The main difference I noticed was that of Budget. There is a big difference in the amount you are paid for the job. Now, when you work on the sets of a Marathi film, you don’t realise that you are away from home; but when you work on the sets of Hindi film or serial, you just have to forget everything on the sets and just move home quickly. There is a lot of professionalism in Hindi and You are also treated in that manner.
Q: Some of your films like ‘Mee Amruta Boltey’, ‘Zenda’ and ‘Manya - The Wonder Boy’ were all action oriented films. Are you more inclined towards such type of films ?
A: Not exactly. Perhaps, suited to my personality, I get such type of roles. Action is just genre of such movies. But, there are other aspects too, which I am required to pay attention while performing such characters.
Q: How about performing in a comedy film ?
A: In fact, I made my debut through a comedy film. It was Ramoji Productions film ‘Bin Paishyacha
Tamashaa’ where I performed alongwith Prasad Oak, Vijay Chavan and Amruta Subhash.
Q: Are you satisfied now, with the kind of roles you are playing and those signed for your forthcoming films?
A: All that I would say is that I am satisfied with the kind of roles offered to me now. Having performed in TV serials like ‘Anamika’, “Bhagyavidhata’ , ‘Char Divas Sasuche’,’Saptapadi’ and ‘Tu Bhetashi Navyane’ and films like ‘Bin Paishyacha Tamashaa’, ‘Mee Amruta Boltey’, ‘Kas’, ‘Zenda’ and ‘Shambhu Majha Navsacha’ I felt satisfied. In fact, in ‘Shambhu Majha navsacha’, I performed 13 different different characters and this has been recorded in the Limca and Guinness Book of records

<director>Vinay Laad</director>

Sataranngi Reeee- Rocking!!

<img margin: 2,2,2,2; src='http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/8366/satrango.jpg' height='180px' width='150px' style='float:left;'> Satrangi Re is a movie that revolves around the world of a group of friends in their final year of graduation. With a passion for music, the friends' lives go on a roller coaster ride as they experience the varied nuances of their relationships with their parents, their love interests and amongst themselves.
Slated for a February release, Satrangi Re is a youth-centric film, the movie is creating waves with its unusual musical track. The film is about a group of engineering students, who realise that their real passion is music. The story is about their journey with big names like Mahesh Kale, Jasraj Joshi,Sumitra Iyer, Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Rahul Deshpande, Swapnil Bandodkar and Swapnaja Lele roped in as playback singers, the film has a good soundtrack.By virtue of being the intense audio-visual medium that cinema is, there are always certain emotions and situations that are bound to make some sort of a dent in your heart, no matter what the final cinematic outcome of it is. So, bitter feuds between best friends, unrequited love and the ilk will always have some effect during the few hours in which the only thing in your field of vision is the cinema screen.

Aditya Sarpotdar’s Satrangi Re is a film that has these moments in abundance, by virtue of which the film is never totally unwatchable. However, the film rarely manages to rise above the rather persistent mediocrity in its screenplay. That combined with a rather wishful but generic directorial effort mean that Satrangi Re settles into being just a lazy weekend watch on the telly, nothing more.
Set in Goa, Satrangi Re is essentially a rehash of Rock On. Rego, Yezdi, Nick and Jai form ‘Goonj’, a promising local band that aspires to make it big on the national scene. On the side, three of the four are also final year engineering students. Each of them has their own set of problems that stem from their respective social and financial backgrounds, apart from the obvious problems that aspiring musicians as well as engineering students would face.
With an unforgivable runtime of about two and three-quarters of an hour, the film is easily about 30 minutes too long for its own good. While Adinath Kothare as Rego is clearly the focal point of the story, each of the four lead characters actually gets ample footage, with a bit more detail into their backstory than the audience usually bargains for.

One must confess that there are a number of scenes in the film which audiences would be able to connect with. The frustration faced by parents when their son doesn’t appreciate the sacrifices made by them for his education, the plight of the son in turn, who isn’t able to impress upon his parents what his true calling in life is – these recur in the film in some form or the other for all of the lead characters. However, these scenes deserved to have been treated with far more precision, to be able to stay with the audience hours after the film is over.
Senior actors Vidyadhar Joshi and Uday Tikekar, who play Rego’s and Jai’s fathers respectively, are the picks of the cast. The four main leads themselves are fairly easy on the senses, if a little too typical in terms of their look and attitude. Amruta Khanvilkar as the vivacious RJ Alisha looks pretty as usual and for a change plays a character that suits her.

One of the biggest letdowns of the film is the music. As is the case with most Marathi films, the music is pleasant. But for a film where music is almost another character, the film deserved memorable music.

Satrangi Re has an energetic, youthful feel throughout because of the manner in which it is shot. Goa’s beauty is captured well, though it would have been so much better if some of Goa’s character and personality were captured as well.

<director>Aditya Sarpotdar</director>

Hasari

<img margin: 2,2,2,2; src='http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/2865/hasari.jpg' height='180px' width='150px' style='float:left;'> Hasari Marathi Movie Featuring Nina Kulkarni and Dilip Kulkarni , This is story of one little girl Name Hasari Played by Mansai , This girl is innocent, charming but something happen to Hasari and life takes a 360 turn, what happens to Hasari watch in touching movie.

<director>Subhash Phadke</director>

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 11 Finale

<img margin: 2,2,2,2; src='http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/4984/sarea.jpg' height='180px' width='150px' style='float:left;'> Grand Finale of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa -11 we won't tell you the winner because don't want to ruin the surprise but you could easily figure it out.
