helpp. i need to pick a celebrity and parallel them to a greek god/goddess. an example was marilyn monroe to aphrodite. I was maybe thinking martha stewart for hestia (goddess of hearth and home). can anyone think of a better one?! maybe oprah? ha. i just don’t know.

Drama Mythical Script
“The Golden Apple”

Summary:
The script follows the life of the Gods and Goddesses living on Mount Olympus. The beginning depicts Zeus’s unfaithful ways, as he unsuccessfully hits on a sea nymph. There is a wedding, between Gaea and Apollo that is going to take place. Everyone except Eris, Goddess of Conflict, is invited. Eris realises how much conflict there is over beauty, so she tosses in an apple inscribed with the words “For the Fairest.” This lands between Hera, Athene, and Aphrodite. Zeus cannot decide who should get the apple, without angering two of them, so he chooses Prince Paris to be the judge. Paris’s decision results in the Trojan War. Towards the end of the play, Hera is still angry and sulking and her and Zeus fight constantly. Aphrodite, as the goddess of love has a plan to help them fall back in love.

Scene 1: The night before the wedding of Apollo and Gaea. Zeus unsuccessfully flirts with Summer the sea nymph, behind Hera’s back. [Characters-Zeus, Summer]
Scene 2: The morning of the wedding. The goddesses are helping Gaea dress, and argue about who is the most beautiful Eris has a plan. [Characters-Gaea, Athene, Aphrodite, Hera, Eris, bridesmaids.]
Scene 3: The weding takes place. The Gods and Goddesses all give the newlyweds gifts. There is excitement and love is in the air, until Eris causes some conflict between Athene, Hera and Aphrodite. Zeus cannot take sides, so he declares Paris as judge. [Characters-Zeus, Hera, Athene, Aphrodite, Gaea, Apollo, Dionysus, Hephaestos, Artemis, Eris, Hestia and other guests.]
Scene 4: Hermes is sent by Zeus to ask Prince Paris to judge. Paris is first unsure, but finally agrees. [Characters-Hermes, Paris.]
Scene 5: The three beautiful goddesses appear on a mountain, and promise Paris amazing gifts in return for the apple. Paris’s decision upsets the other two and starts the Trojan War. [Characters-Paris, Hera, Athene, Aphrodite.]
Scene 6: Zeus and Hera are fighting constantly, and Aphrodite tries to help them fall back in love. [Characters-Zeus, Hera, Aphrodite, Summer.]

Characters:

Main Characters:
Zeus: The ruler of heaven and Earth. He has many lovers and wives, mortal and immortal.
*Hera: Zeus’s main wife, possessive and jealous of her husband’s countless affairs. She is the protector of marriage. She is proud, beautiful and vain.
*Aphrodite: The most beautiful of all the goddesses, she is the goddess of love, beauty and desire. She is married to Hephaestos.
*Athene: Zeus’s favourite daughter. She is the goddess of wisdom, intelligence and truth.
Paris: Paris, the mortal Prince of Troy. He is “beautiful,” and is chosen by Zeus to judge. He later falls in love with Helen.
*Hera, Aphrodite and Athene are the three women in the story that argue about who is the “fairest.”

Other Occurring Characters:
Summer: A sea nymph with fiery red hair, who attracts Zeus’s attention.
Gaea: A Titan. She is the Earth Goddess and the bride of the story.
Dionysus: The god of wine, vine and fertility. He is the best man at the wedding.
Apollo: The Sun god. He is the groom.
Artemis: Apollo’s twin sister, who is known as the Moon goddess and mistress of wild animals. She is a wedding guest.
Hestia: Goddess of warmth and hearth in the home. She is also a wedding guest.
Haphaestos: The only physically ugly and lame god. His mother, Hera, abandoned him for him for his ugliness. He is in charge of sword making. He is married to Aphrodite.
Hermes: Hermes is the messenger god. He was asked by Zeus to enquire Paris about the contest.

Is it unfair of You’re the Dream, Unicorn! to ask me to marry him on bended knee, then choose another?

I mean, I already ordered my bouquet of zebra turds and plenty of ketchup for the wedding breakfast. I even gave him my wallet as a symbol of my eternal commitment.

But now he claims saying “I’m just kidding” is an adequate explanation for the fact my heart has been broken and trampled by stampeding zebras.

So in the beginning of our relationship I told my boyfriend I do not want kids, nor do I want to get married (we have been together for four years) and he said that he didn’t want them either. So, on my 18th birthday he popped the question and I declined, saying that I do not like the idea of marriage. About 2 months later, the question of kids popped up. I said no, he threw a fit about how children are important and how they are a symbol of a loving relationship and all that.

He knew how I felt about these things! I am afraid of children! I can’t STAND them! I get this sort of panic attack when I get near them to the point where I feel faint. And he knew this!! As for marriage, I just don’t like the idea! So why is he trying to push all of this on me? I don’t want to break up with him because I do love him but why didn’t he just tell me the truth in the beginning and save the heart break?
So should I break up with him or talk to him about it? I’m sort of confused…

Do you think I can pull this off?

I’m twelve. I’m writing a story. Right now, it’s 57 pages in a regular document.
I’m writing it for myself right now. I’m definitely not ready to show it to anyone, because I don’t exactly know if I’m any good at writing or not yet.
I am happy with how far I’ve gotten, WAY further than I’ve expected. I just feel like it should be longer and more detailed, but I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong or not.
Do you think I can finish it? Do you think that some one at my age is able to write a good story? I am not giving up no matter what happens, even if everyone tells me that it is a stupid idea, but I wanted to know what you thought of it.
Here is a part of it. PLEASE tell me what you think, especially if it sucks, and be honest. I know I can improve but I just don’t know how.

I gazed in awe at the four life-sized statues. They were mounted on round platforms and encircled an odd symbol on the floor. It was breathtaking. They were so detailed and realistic that I was expecting one to just start moving. Every fold in their clothes, strand of hair, and wrinkle in the skin seemed to be real. Every expression was meaningful and powerful. My drawings seemed insignificant and childish compared to those works of art. I wondered what these people must have done to have those beautiful statues representing them. The artists must have put so much work and dedication into them that it struck me. I approached them carefully.
Slowly, I extended a hand to the statue nearest me and gently brushed the smooth marble. I almost expected my fingers to touch something soft and warm.
The statue was of a girl. She was magnificent, elegant, and strikingly beautiful. Her hair fell like a waterfall down to her waist, and she was wearing a dress that looked like it was made of the finest silk. Even though she was only a statue, I felt extremely plain and insignificant next to her. For some odd reason, her appearance reminded me of someone, but I couldn’t remember who.
Despite all of this, her delicate face was washed with so much sorrow it almost made my heart break. The emotion reflected strongly in every aspect of her, particularly her eyes. I felt angry for a second. It felt wrong for someone as fragile as her to have to deal with so much emotion. I felt that no one, no matter what they did, deserved to feel so much sorrow.

My ex wants me to pay back the money “we” spent when we were together. What rights do I have against this?

This summer, i asked my bf to move in with me into the house i was renting. He was broke, i helped support him for almost month. He finally got a job, and soon thereafter i was layed off from mine. A couple months later, having spent all of my savings, he offered to help me pay rent, and i let him. Long story short, a few months later, we went through a pretty horrible break-up, but he refused to move out. We argued for weeks until i finally agreed to move out (to my great disgust). My landlord transfered my lease over to him and my ex promised to pay me the deposit i put down on the house. But now, my ex says that i owe him money from when we were together and he won’t give me my deposit. I really need it so i can find another place to live. p.s. i can’t afford a lawyer…

Sometimes, I have dreams that seem to foretell bad luck coming. I used to rescue animals, and it was heart-breaking. When I dream about kittens there are always too many, and I am desperately trying to save them all. Occasionally, it’s puppies. These dreams always happen right before unexpected and terrible events. Thankfully, these dreams are rare.

However, I’ve just dreamt about a snake in a department store. It had gotten loose from the pet department, and the salespeople were going to kill it. It was a harmless snake, so I bought it and had them put it in a bag. I didn’t want it, but I couldn’t set it free. The climate here would kill it. I went to visit a family member, and one of the children there chased me around with this snake until I had the courage to touch it. I finally managed to touch it and the dream ended. The snake had very pretty rings around it. The colors I remember were pink and red. I didn’t want it, but I didn’t want it to be hurt either. I had no clue what to do with it and was very upset and confused.

I know that snakes are phallic symbols. I’m in a relationship, and things could be better. But, they aren’t awful by any means. I haven’t felt like having sex, but if I did? I wouldn’t be deprived of it. Can snake dreams have other meanings? Or, am I in denial over my feelings?

Is there a more family friendly version of Guitar Hero?

My co-worker is a huge fan of Guitar Hero. It’s the main thing she does in her free time. Recently her heart has been broken because it was pointed out to her that some of the symbols in the background are questionable. By questionable I mean inverted pentagrams, 666, a devil with a rose, skull and crossbones, amongst others. She asked me if I knew an alternative because she does not want to quit the game but she does not want to expose her child to it or use something that goes against her morals.
As a favor to her I thought I’d ask here if anyone knew of a more conservative version of the game.
I would like to point out that I don’t have a problem with such symbols but it hurts me to see a friend crushed like this.

She plays Guitar Hero II and Guitar Hero 80s Rock. They both contain the same symbols. I did a search and Guitar Heros III has or will have (not sure if it’s out yet) at least one of these symbols in the background.

My parents just got divorced a month ago… already seeing people?

My parents’ fighting as steadily but slowly inclined over the past 10 years. It came to a breaking point and my mom was trying to work it out, but it ended in divorce about a month ago. Not just a “lets go our seperate ways civily” divorce. A divorce packed with restraining orders, custody battles, even my dad getting put in jail twice, first for family violence and the other for violating the restraining order for coming into the house at 2 am. My dad closed the case and reopened it several times to delay the process. It was finalized the first week of November. My mom was meeting an old guy friend for coffee (fuel to the fire). They still talk, only as friends. About 30 minutes ago, I was looking through my moms pictures (she said I could). The whole family is over (dads side minus dad, we still talk to them still bc they see how messed up he is, our sides are very close excluding my dad). She’s been talking to a guy, him using winky faces, “hot”, “baby”, heart symbols, etc. I was introduced to my dads “friend” last night when I was at his new high rise….
I’m about to rip my hair out. I can’t take it. My mom doesn’t know I saw, but apparentyl all those “faculty parties” were actually dinners with him. I confronte her about her going out so much but shes in denial…

They need to fit her personality. Mamacita is the lady that moves in with the man across the street with her baby boy and she only knows 8 english words. I’m working on a project using the song The Lonely by Christina Perri and I need a few things to symbolize the words in the song. Like being left empty and lonely because of a lost love(which is what I think the song’s about)

Is it ok to use symbols or characters from movies or video games as t-shirt designs?

I started an online shirt store, and design my own graphics. I have seen many shirts out there with symbols or characters from video games or movies (i.e. hot topic, online t-shirt sites like ninja-bot.com), and just wondered if I can use these as well, original image or modified, or do I need to contact the source of the image and get consent? Even if it is a parody of the image? I have some good ideas for graphics, but I dont want to break some copyright laws or anything. example: could I take the heartless symbol from kingdom hearts and put it on a shirt, or is that a copyrighted symbol needing consent?

PS- a friend told me that as long as it is a parody of the image its ok, but I wasnt totally sure about this.

If it is spelled similar and gets the point across with primitave symbols and gutteral slang then it is OK? Have you ever read a beautifully written letter? I am a married man. I have been married 17 years. I had an affair on my wife for almost two years. I feel very bad and I am very sorry about it. It has been the biggest mistake I have ever done. So here is the skinny. I married this @$$hole six years ago and we had a great relationship…that is until he started sleeping with his co-workers and then on a Business trip he met another woman and got her pregnant. To say I wasn’t bitter to the bone is the understatement of the year. My story is long and painful to say the least. I was in a four year relationship with an abusive boyfriend who got me pregnant and left. When I met my son’s father he was a gift from God. He took care of me and my daughter and loved her as his own. We had a baby and he seemed excited and happy. He had a daughter from a previous marriage and he was a great daddy to her. I thought to myself from time to time at least if we ever split, I know he will be a good daddy to our son. Plus he and his ex wife had a great friendly relationship. They were very mature with one another. After the initial shock of finding out my husband had cheated on me with three women in less then six months, I fell into a hole of desperation. Even begged him to stay. He could still see the girl he was with if it made him happy. (how pathetic was I). I was scared to be the woman who had two children by two different men and divorced all before I was 25. I filed for a divorce after many people slapped me in the head and we moved our separate ways. He is married to the trailer trash whore he slept with on the buisness trip and they have four kids together. The thing is, after he left me, he quit talking to his son. It was weird. I thought for sure he was just trying to settle in. I wrote several notes, emails, and phoned him nearly three times a week to find out what was going on. I sent pictures of my daughter and our son and updated him always on how he was doing. There was never a response, a letter or a call back. Our son was a little less then a year old when we divorced. I kept trying to explain that if he continued to ignore him, he wouldn’t know who his father was. Years past, I’ve remarried and my wonderful husband has been here to take care of my children (even now knowing I can‘t have anymore from health issues). My son knows that he has a biological father but feels his step dad is his true father. He even refuses to use his real fathers last name, which I have had to force him to in school to stop the confusion. He idolizes my husband. All of a sudden out of the blue, I got court papers taking me back to court to sue me for not allowing my ex to see his son or talk to him and he is also trying to get full custody of our son. My six year old boy doesn’t have a f’n clue who this man is and all of a sudden he wants to take him a way. It is my word against his and I am scared. I know that I did what I could. I did everything short of hunting him down and shoving our baby in his house. That isn’t for me to do. He should have been there to care for his baby. I don’t know what is going to happen. I see it more and more now that the father gets custody of the children. IT has happened to my cousin and my best friend. On top of that, if the court enforces visitation, what will it do to my son? Do you think that my ex husband owing me nearly $15,000.00 in back child support could help my case. I am scared for my baby and don’t know what to do. I don’t think my ex would hurt him, but his wife is a psycho B!%^& and she is hell bent on taking him from me. She has all girls. My son is the only boy out of seven children that he has. What can I do. I desperately need help?

Did you divorce a law enforcement officer?

I am a former wife of a law enforcement officer. We dated during the police academy and married right after he was hired by a police department. It was during his second year as a cop that I noticed a change in his attitude and behavior at home. I can remember at one point telling him to stop treating me like I was a criminal. When I filed for a divorce, I was worried about what he would try to do to me and our daughter. I received primary custody and out of fear, declined seeking child support. Over the last two years, I have grown stronger and smarter. My question is this, male or female, what is your story when you divorced your significant other whom happened to be a law enforcement officer? Did his or her career make a divorce harder (knowing the judge who signed your divorce paper, tight with all the attorneys in town, et al). Thanks!
Just for clarification … I have been divorced for two years, seperated for three. I did have a great attorney but simply wanted to know other people who found it hard to leave their spouse because of his or her career as a law enforcement officer. I know some cops are retarted and corrupt, I know the pig jokes and donut jokes, so no need to post.

Hi, my wife and I are separated, she is not talking to me. the only communication we have is through e-mail. She said that she needs time and space to heal from emotional pain that our marriage has caused. She has a restraining order on me. I am getting my life together and every time I e-mail her I am always nice and kind and civil. She says that I am not following the court order by e-mailing her. But I e-mail only about bills and vital issues. The last time I asked her should I go and file for a divorce, she replied , go ahead you can‘nt do anymore damage to my emotions. Does this means she wants me to file? does she want a divorce? I love my wife but she is not communicating with me. What do I do. And every time she do e-mail me its always in anger or criticism. she always tell me that I am not changing and I know I am. I used to call her repeatedly, and text her all the time. I don’nt call her at all or text her at all. And the times I do e-mail or text she still says that I am being intrusive. Why can‘nt my wife open up to me? I need to communicate with her? Even after she took out the restraining order she still allowed me to come over and spend time with her and the kids? after four months of this, all of a sudden she goes to the church officials and told them that she has a restraining order on me.
