Yes … yes GV Mobile is back, but better. Now that Apple as relaxed it’s policies regarding application submission GV Mobile is coming back starting today. Just approved moments ago. GV Mobile+ is a what Google would of done if they actually wanted to program for the iPhone any more. It is a full featured Google Voice iPhone application. It gives you the ablity to dial from your contacts as well as see your voicemails. Voicemails are arranged just like the native iPhone application where you seem them in a visual way. You can set the phone you wish to ring to, and much more. You don’t even have to use your contacts, you can use the in app dialer if needed. This is a great app. Yes you will have to repurchase the application if you had the original GV Mobile app, but hey it’s only $2.99. Just buy 1 less soda, or talk a walk with the family instead of eating out. It will truly pay for itself.

Found a great program that will allow you to cut your monthly rate by removing your monthly txt plan. Textnow allows you send txt and mms messages without having a texting plan with your carrier. It really shines with an iPod Touch or even an iPad where you might only have WiFi access. I can honestly say this program is pimp which landed us a top rating. We only had small issues that were easily solved. The only negative thing we can think of is that you do have to pay $0.99 for the application then $7.99 for a lifetime subscription. There is another program called Textfree that also allows you to do the same thing … so why this one? Textnow allows you to also send pictures, have custom wallpapers, oh yea and it’s cheaper! Take a look at the feature and pricing chart bellow and you’ll see how much money you’ll save, or rather how much your currently wasting. $7.99 for lifetime unlimited txt messages. If you don’t pick up this application you will be sorry.

As a freelance coder I have submitted my time at the end of the project and I know it took me 4hrs to complete, but where did all that time actually go? Did I really spend that much time trying to figure that out, or was it the graphics that killed me this time around? Now I can honestly say, using TimeTracker has perfected my time tracking.TimeTracker is designed to do fill the nitch of tracking your time, and down to the level of detail that you want. You can track a 1 task quickly by pressing 1 button, or setup a project where you could have many tasks involved. In the example of creating a website where there is finding a host, creating the graphics, coding the backend, and setting up the dbase it is hard to track down where you are losing time. In this example I found that I wasn’t as proficient in creating a MySQL dbase and it would be cheaper for me to hire a friend to help out with in the end. This is the level of detail that you can have with TimeTracker. Now you have the data in your iPhone, how do you get it out? TimeTracker has even figured that out as well by allowing you to export a .csv file and even allowing you to filter some items out to get what you need. We would highly recommend this product to anyone that is a freelancer, work for yourself, or just want to see where your time went in your day this will be your best friend.

As promised from yesterday’s post, I found a better application. If you can remember, my major complaint of yesterday’s application was that I wanted to find things in my area it was no help. I have a 2year old daughter that I take along with me everywhere, and sometimes I am a little careless and lose track of time. If I am an hour away from my house and in a pinch I can open FastFood and find the nearest fastfood restaurant so I can grab a quick meal so she isn’t hungry. The program is neatly organized by restaurant so finding the nearest Olive Garden or McDonalds is quick and simple to do. I have personally used this in at my house as well as Las Vegas with no hiccups. With over 75+ restaurant locations you can’t go wrong with this application.

iPlacemarks is an application that is free, and still not worth downloading. I put that there so you don’t even need to read more and save your time. But if you want to …. The idea of iPlacemarks is to find your local Jamba Juice quickly from your home screen. You know for that one time when your drunk and forget your favorite Jamba Juice is because you visit it so often you need to place a bookmark to re-find it again. I have no clue what Jamba Juice is, but I can confidently tell you there isn’t one within a 50mile radius. When you open the program, it does look nice but it doesn’t actually do anything. When you click on say Peet’s, it opens Safari where you complete everything else. So this really could have been a website maybe instead of another iPhone App. And what the heck is Peet’s any way. So the program can’t be all that bad can it? If I wanted to know where the nearest Sonic is and I didn’t know this program couldn’t even help you. Trust me, I’ll totally find a way better application tomorrow.

I love my grandparents to no end, but on the technical side I have to say they are a little lacking. We just had to get them a fancy new antenna to bring them up to the government mandated digital transition, and they still can’t figure out things. They just recently got a tone dial phone. Ok, so your fully confused why I bring this fact up? It’s because they don’t have a computer and while I am out and about I really don’t want to go out of my way to grab a postcard to send to 1 person. Postino allows you to do just that, send a custom printed postcard via the mail. Postino allows you to take pictures with your iPhone and combine them with a message and a couple of clicks later an actual postcard is mailed out. This way I can always keep them in touch wile I am out on vacation. It worked great while I was waiting for my dinner to arrive I quickly scrolled through a couple of pictures I took that day and sent off a postcard in no time. Processing takes roughly the same amount of time about 5-6days for them to get it. The quality isn’t going to be the best as the built in iPhone camera isn’t the greatest. The paper quality is on good stock and the end result is a very respectable postcard. Sending out postcards costs about $1.99 per card, but there are bulk packages available that save you money.

After a long day of sitting on the beach on vacation I want nothing more than to come back to the house and watch some TV. The only issue with that is I always struggle to figure out what channel my favorite show is. I can always find a rerun of CSI or some other cookie cutter law show but where the heck is the stuff I want to watch? And while expensive, my beach house does not have a digital cable box with a guide like my home does. What’s on TV allows you to find the local cable company and show you what is playing. Don’t know the cable company, it will use your GPS to assist you with that to make things easier. It is even powered by Zap2It so it will work a crossed the country with little hiccups. Do yourself a favor grab this program today and when you are on vacation wishing you were at home ,come back and thank us.

Yes, another tipping program. Why should I get this one as I already have another, or I can just do it in my head? Globetipping has some great features that your other program doesn’t do. The main features of the application will seem like the others. You input the total dollar amount and tip percent and the program it will tell you how much to leave. Have multiple people in your party? Select how many people are in group and it will show how much per person. Yes, yes, all programs the other programs do that so what makes this one any different? Say you are in Japan and you are wondering how much to leave, so you pull out your iPhone and leave the standard 15%. If you had Globetipping it would of told you that you might as well spit in their face as tipping is considered an insult. In France, by law the tip is part of the bill. There are over 200 countries present in this app. This app goes beyond the normal tipping programs. It is free until 2010 and I would gladly pay money to not look like a jerk when leaving a restaurant.

Totemo is a great game that is amazingly additive. The idea of the game is to clear the level out of all the game pieces. It does sound simple until you just realized you messed up. Most of the levels you must clear by combining the pieces in 2’s or 3’s, so you really must watch for your next move. The game has 2 different game modes. Survival, which you must play against the clock to clear the levels to gain more time and Story where you can play at your own pace. There are over 60 levels total so the game will not get old any time soon. What a great little game, it will truly kill hours of your life. Highly addictive, and worth every penny.

I have my snazzy new iPhone 3Gs 16gb and I love it. I got it the day it came out, and no I did not wait in line for it. I pre-ordered it so I wasn’t standing outside. So what is the downside of my iPhone? It’s 16gb and I wasn’t paying out the butt for the 32gb.I sync my music almost every night, and I create new playlists so I can get new music on my phone when I am tired of it. I must have 30 playlists now. iTunes makes it easy to organize my 60gb music library easily. The down side is I can’t have it where I want it, until now. Simplify Music 2 allows me to stream, on demand, any music file I want from my home computer directly to my iPhone over wifi and 3G. Select the playlist and I’m good for hours. If it was just that it would be great, but they made it even better. My friend Dave has a library of over 120gb and with a simple invite I now have access to his entire library as well so well over 180gb of music total. Simplify Music 2 allows me to share up to 30 different people. You can even search between them, so you are not stuck paging through the artists or albums. Even if that wasn’t enough, you can bookmark 1 song here and there between different music library’s and create a virtual playlist from that. This is a really great application, done right, with all the features you could want.

Sitting here today on my way to work I just wished the person in the car in front of me hit the biker as he was in the middle of the road. I realize that I live in a civil world and we can’t do that, but come on wouldn’t it be fun to dream? My dreams came true today when I saw that Traffic Rush from Donut Games was on sale for Free for a limited time. I download the game right away just to watch that biker get hit. Traffic Rush allows you to control the flow of traffic of speeding cars, trucks, and bikers. You are scored on how many cars get past and the average speed. That’s right you can actually tell that slow poke to speed up by swiping your finger a crossed the screen. Tell the others to stop simply by tapping on them to avoid an accident. With most games I like to see how high of a score I can get and complete with my friends and wife, but that’s really where the game ends. There really is no other point that to get speeding cars through the intersection as quick as possible. I wish there was some more interactions. That being said, it still is a good game to grab. If you are sitting around on your break or in the Dr’s office it will fill the time.

With all the different applications out there for updating your Twitter and Facebook it’s kind of hard for one to stick out in a crowd. Twinkle however does stick out among the others. It’s easy to see how over 30million messages have been sent out with this program. Twinkle allows you to check your Twitter and Facebook updates all in 1 location. You can even post replies to all of your friends as well as posting to just other Twinkle users. You can chat with people in your area and respond to people both publicly and privately. If you are at a bar, more than likely there is someone at the same bar or nearby. You can narrow it down to just 1mile and look for new friends to hookup with. It really does take an existing idea and add geolocation to the it making the end product even better. So with all the up’s are there any downs? Now that you ask I can only say 1 negative thing, and that is to sign up for the Tapulous account. It is an annoying process of signing in with your info, exiting the program to check your email, re-entering the program to fill out another field, and checking your email again. It wasn’t hard to do and while it was quick, it was just something that could have been prevented. Once you are signed up you can import your Tapulous profile into their other apps so you don’t need to do it again. Twinkle is like Facebook and Twitter on crack. Best part, you can get the ad supported version of Twinkle for free.

I was a little amazed with Apple that there was not a finance app from stock, it would be flashy be so cool and well I digress. Enough of what should be done on the iPhone from factory … cough background pictures aFinance is a great new tool that will be Free for the next 2weeks on the appstore. If you ever were standing there in line, like maybe on Black Friday, and wondered exactly how much money you had. May be to estimate how your purchase might effect you over the next month, then aFinance is for you. Input your data, and look at the great looking graphs make this application great to have. You can even setup a goal for saving money so you are not maxing out another credit card but paying for it out right. So that was the positives, the only real negitive here that we can give is that it is not real time. I still have to go into the application to input my data and purchases. My issue is that I can never remember to do it, however I realise that most people would be using this to setup a goal and work towards it. For that I would say the application is great for.

When I first saw Implode I thought here is another simple physics style app that would get old quick. The game is actually quite addictive. Where other games I’ve played for the reviews, this one does have some replay value. After playing with the levels I am challenging my wife to see who can get a higher score. The object of the game is to try and bring down the buildings, with the fewest charges, and without hitting the building next to it. It’s a constant challenge of mine to see if I can bring them all down with only 1 charge, though it is fun to see what it looks like with them all. This is actually the first release with 60levels. IUGO has announced that it is submitted another 20 levels, with more levels in the development. Honor your childish and destructive sides and grab this game!

About 75% of the time my iPhone is sitting around doing nothing. When I am not waiting for a text message, a reply to an email, or a call it is sitting there most of the time on my charging dock. Wired Frame allows you to make a digital photo frame out of your phone while it is sitting around. I find myself at work picking up my phone to look at the time, now I can use my phone to display amazing photo’s pulled from Flickr. Cool hu, what could make it cooler? Well how about the ablity to pull a RSS feed, the local weather, temp, with a clock overlay. While the pictures are in Japanese, it also is localized with English as well. Program just looks amazing. When ever I find myself stressed out at work, the amazing photo’s bring me back down.

If you are a road warrior that wants to talk with multiple people at one time, by default using the iPhone your kinda out of luck. Conference Call tries to correct that by filling in the missing area. With Conference Call and a free account from Ifbyphone you are able to have upto 5 people talk to each other all at the same time, more if you put in a credit card. Free accounts are able to have 100 free minutes a month. You really can’t beat free. Have problems with people remembering to call in? Well this program can even schedule it to call them so your not wasting money and minutes waiting for them. You want to know the best part? If you start the conference call, Ifbyphone allows you to mute people. So if you have 1 person that just wants to ramble or that brings nothing to the table constructive, rather than punishing them by not having them present you can just mute that 1 person.

How many of us are in the same boat? I’m sitting at the train station waiting to go home and I want to check on the news. Instead of clicking on multiple sites in Safari I can now open News Addict and have instant access to 41 news sites.

This thing is really slick looking as well with all the pages looking like it is sitting on the corner news stand. It’s simple to understand and compared to Safari you get 25% more screen space so you get the most bang for your buck.

Fast loading, more space for faster loading … this app is perfect for all of us news addicts.

This was 1 of the very first applications I purchased when I got my iPhone. You can track your gas MPG per car as well as any oil changes. It is cool to see the spike on the graph when you go on long road trips compaired to your normal day-to-day travel.

This application goes beyond the normal user as you can export via email to .CSV so you can turn in your milage to your work as well. Conserned about the app crashing with all your data? Well they even have a web backup solution for that as well.

This application is truely worth every penny and App Cubby is running a 30% off deal until Dec 1st 2009.

I remember a time when I worked 2 different jobs and I never had a clue what my paychecks would look like. During the holidays overtime was always given out and I always took it thinking I needed the money. I know at the end of the week I was tired and had more than enough money. Which made me think, if I knew I had enough money on Weds would I of worked extra hours on Friday?With iSalary you are able to track your hours and see how much money you will get on your check. You can see how much you will bring home from 1 or 2 different jobs. That being said it only shows you the amount before taxes, but hey I still can’t know this program. This is a program that I wish I had when I was working!
