1) Type a page using the Kid’s Journal app on you iPad
2) press the paper airplane at the bottom of the entry
3) I chose “this entry”, but you could choose other entries
4) Touch “export”
4) Choose “open in Edmodo” (you have to be logged into Edmodo first, but since you are using your iPad to do this, you are probably always logged in)

PLEASE NOTE:  You can also open it in any other app that accepts PDF!

5) Choose “okay” (Note: when I tried this at school, I got an error message at this point. Later I tried it at home and it worked perfectly.)
6) Choose “okay” after Edmodo tells you the entry has been uploaded

Okay, now the entry is in your personal Edmodo library. To let us see your Kid’s Journal page, do the following:
1) Type a post
2) Touch the “library” icon
3) You will be shown everything in your personal Edmodo library. Choose the item you want to attach.
4) Touch the “attach” icon
5) Type “Weather Or Not” into the send to box and click send

Description:  One of the most important learning activities that has withstood the test of time is having kids reflect upon their day in a journal. Kid’s Journal allows kids to easily do that with an intuitive interface that focuses on content. Kids can track their feelings, where they are at whether it be at home, school or on vacation, the weather, a daily picture and finally a short little blurb.

Kid’s Journal can have multiple kids using the app simultaneously such as an entire class. As summer approaches, why not set our kids up with the easiest way to remember the important things in their lives.

Parents, teachers and kids can export the journal in its entirety or through a range of dates. The file can be read in iBooks and also a myriad of other applications on your iPad such as several of the key screen casting apps. There is so much potential for asking kids to share their learning experiences.

The lesson title should look like a link in your browser. On a mac or pc it won’t work, but on an iPad that has Compare a Twist installed, it will know exactly what to do.

Once you have your file on your website; you will need to make the link a little different from normal.   Let us use “math.aoa” as an example.  When you upload the lesson on to your website, the normal link might look like:  http://appofapproval.us/lessons/Arts.aoa.

To have the link work on an iPad and within Compare a Twist, we need the url in the link to be:  aoacompareatwist://appofapproval.us/lessons/Arts.aoa.  When you click that link on Safari on an iPad, the browser will recognize what it is for and open it in Compare a Twist properly.

Kid’s Journal is an app for early elementary aged students to reflect on their learning on a daily basis.  The intuitive interface allows students to document their day from where they are, how they are feeling, photo of the day, weather, and a short recap of the important learning activities.  Kids will know how to use the app without much direction as the icon interface tells the entire story.  Kids can customize their experience through the use of images and color.

Perhaps the greatest feature of Kid Journal is the ability to export pdf’s to iBooks, email and a myriad of other apps. One of our favorite uses of the export feature is to send a week of journal entries to a screen casting app like “Explain Everything”.  Students can then add their voice and annotate over the journal entries as well.  The possibilities are endless!
